100% of people I've engaged D/C
JKflipflop replied to Wrath (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How about you have to make a camp to quit? If you don't have the means to make a campfire, you probably don't have anything worth saving anyways. You can logout at a campfire or at a tent you own. If you quit any other way your character is killed and any vehicles/tents associated to that character are also destroyed. -

How long do cars last, and what is considered "off map?"
Aitloian replied to Mjolnir (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think you just got trolled hard dude, my camp is literally on the EDGE of the map like the wheels of my vehicles are pretty much on the edge of the map, the edge of the map is where the long grass stops growing and its just one texture with no depth of grass on it that is the edge of the map. So your vehicles did not despawn by the "offmap" timer or what not. I think someone screwed with you, and personally when I stumble upon a camp and tent I may glance in the tent before I steal the car but if it was just an M14 AIM I would leave that crap behind, but that's just me I don't consider it rare. Here's an example of crazy situations. Found a VS3 and a white car and went and parked them near pambena dam and logged off for the night logged in and they were gone, so I started heading west where I stumbled upon the VS3 a blue Ural our white car and a UAZ. I woke up the roommates and we robbed the VS3 the Ural and the UAZ and went and made a new camp we then headed back to get our faithful white car and it was gone, we then started heading towards the NW airfield and stumbled upon a white offroad truck. So thats how crazy this game can be lol -
I had ghillie suit. Made me spawn once on coast (rather than our camp up north with vehicles and tents). Besides that worked nice, helped me kill couple guys in firefight with gps+nvg+coyotebacpack+weaponofchoice dudes by down there in south after that suprise spawn. Melted in the surroundings too well for em to spot even though other had L85 Thermal. Ended up dying though when looting their corpses, guess they had friend nearby sniping cherno or elektro. (They hid my body so all gear gone. Respect and pvp sportmanship doesn't exist when its mostly just anonymous behaviour.)

Thanks for replying, No way meant for disrespect so I hope you dont take it that way, I was only going off assumption and tried to do my best to protect the players of DayZ. keep up the great effort, its a very fun and lively server! :) Glad theres a few good admins out there  But just to confirm, we did save the vehicles as, and we obviously don't assume a slight hiccup is admins fault, that would be childish and pathetic. If doing all that makes you happy, good for you :) A warning message goes along way before a restart to.. stop anything like this. But thats up to you AND if what you're saying is even true. lol Milk

DayZ as it is, The Player Meta, Pros and Cons.. Next Step?
PingtothePong replied to PingtothePong's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Thanks for the reply, The killings should not stop, for that is an essential part of the game. The reason for killing (the particular one discussed) should be, not because that it upsets players, but because we're kind of forced to as the 'go-to endgame mechanic' yeah the syringe idea is quite vague. I just thought it would be reasonable to add some sort of health regen as a form of medical supply as it would make sense. Someone that someone can use other than a blood bag. the industrial area i feel is far too unimportant and unattractive relative to the other item locations. Vehicles are quite rare and so the importance for repair items is limited, and barbed wire is limited by component. The industrial areas just feel unattractive and I just find myself avoiding them completely. -
I love this idea, with the vehicles being slower, and less maneuverable, it would make a technical an important defensive asset, as well as the high RPS (round per second) fire of mounted guns, as is now, vehicles are easily susceptible to light arms fire, especially a man standing in the back wide open. This could open up new avenues in battles, ways to defend a retreating vehicle, and even could be used in hill/forest based ambush. The addition wouldn't change too much, just add a new way to kill or be killed, in the post apocalyptic world of awesome we call DayZ.

US 249 ban for unknown reasons
shaun (DayZ) replied to sublayer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I'm the owner of that server. I have never banned anyone for killing me or stealing vehicles, that's just silly. Wild accusations like that don't help the already strained community this game has. PM and we'll figure out what happened. -
Not as such. It's tricky because obviously there is the spawn points but I've very rarely actually seen the vehicles in their starting positions.. In my experience, the server admins or a clan have usually stashed most of the vehicles in various place around the map. It's best to search up North. The good thing is that if you find a secret stash, they have usually been fixed up for you. Have fun!

Realistic Temperature Suggestion Thread
windth replied to TheSlyFawkes's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Digging up a two month old thread. herp derp... but yeah... Here my idea about Temperature and the status effect Cold. I'm putting the degrees in C. I know a lot of it exist in game as it is, previous people mention parts of this and it includes some other suggestions I have(that may or may or may not have been stated somewhere in this forum). But, I am going to give this a stab. Change the status effect Cold to be called Hypothermia (yeah nitpick/OCD whatever thing moving on, lol) Status Effects Temperature: Your character’s body Temperature determines how easy it is to get infection and to gauge how close to the status effect hyperthermia your character is. A character’s base temperature is 38 °C. Character has a very small chance (%) of getting the Infection status effect from being hit by a zombie while under the Bleeding effect when Temperature drops below 33 °C. Symptoms: Physical ingame symptoms occur as your Temperature drops below certain degrees. The temperature gauge changes colors to help a player identify which stages of hypothermia they are at along with visual and audio cues/effects. Green: Your character has no hyperthermic symptoms. Yellow: Your character will shiver, seen rubbing their hands together or hugging their self (when standing and has nothing in hands), and audible increased breathing (shallow breathing; can be heard by other players). Orange: Your character will shiver violently, movement is slowed accompanied by a stumbling pace. Red: Your character has a visual blue tinted skin, the inability to use their hands and has trouble moving. Black: Your character dies. Causes of Hyperthermia: Yellow: 34-31 °C Orange: 32-27 °C Red: 28-20 °C Black: 19 °C Increasing Body Temperature: Using a Heat Pack (instantaneous; returns temperature to a full green state) Moving (very slow increase/regeneration rate, faster movement will neutralise lost) Remaining near a fire (very fast increase/regeneration rate) Staying in the sunlight (slow to moderate increase/regeneration rate; based on time of day) Taking shelter inside closed buildings or closed vehicles (slow increase/regeneration rate) Equipping winter clothing (returns temperature to normal increase/decrease rate) [base on if Dayz had seasonal changes in weather (spring, summer, fall, winter)] Causes of Decreased Body Temperature: You are outdoors at night (slow decrease/degeneration rate) You are outdoors in a windy environment (slow decrease/degeneration rate) You consume alcohol (slow decrease/degeneration rate) You are outdoors in a rainstorm (fast decrease/degeneration rate) You are outdoors in wintry environment (fast decrease/degeneration rate) [base on if Dayz had seasonal changes in weather (spring, summer, fall, winter)] You are immersed in water (very fast decrease/degeneration rate) Also include this here. *Alcohol: Can be used as an antiseptic and to seemingly reduce pain. Consuming alcohol can create visual disorientation. Alcohol also can decrease Temperature (although alcohol makes a person feel warm). -
Hello day z community, I just started playing the game yesterday and i would like to find out which vehicles can be repaired, where they spawn, and what parts are required to repair them? In the towns, i see tons of broken down cars but im not sure if they can be repaired or not? Thanks in advance!

UK4 Admin *EVIDENCE* Item duplicate & Rollingback Vechile respawns.
Greg-UK4 replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hi, I'm Greg, WyonG etc etc. I don't quite understand how you can connect this with me? The server restarts every 4h, automatically. BEC auto-locks the server every time 6 or more people are in the lobby. I've never seen a tractor on my server, I have however today seen (and stolen) a white Hilux at balota medcamp and attempted to shoot out the wheels of an old brown truck (also at balota). Myself, I only get to play on the weekends and have absolutely no time to build up a camp let alone squirrel away a cache of weapons. I appreciate your vigilance on my server, but this is in no way evidence of "admin rage". Today: Balota, Zelen, Vybor, North of stary (where i was sniped), back to balota, cherno then elektro That has been my total play schedule today. Now, word of advice: When you see an administrator actually playing on their own server, and the server goes down - don't immediately assume it's admins raging that they've died, been injured, need a rollback etc. It's ridiculous to assume this. I try to run my server in a professional manner, i take my players queries very seriously. Now, please remove my forum address from your post. It's a "private" area for my regulars and people who actually give a crap about this server. Edit: Lol, just watched video with sound: "don't tell me the admins come on and saw his shits gone" If you've been playing UK4 for a while you would grow to understand I'm not like those "Other" admins. I take my right to host as a privilege and will do _nothing_ do jeopardize that. I always update when one is available (Even if it means staying up until 2am to ensure it's working) Always meticulously trawl through 100mbs of logs each day to ensure no hackers have slipped through The issue here is one of perception - you and your groups :) If the Vehicles, Weapons, Ammunition et al were at the original/"rollback" location - and no player contested your re-retrieval of them all, surely that begins poking holes in your assumption? If it was a dodgy administrator, why the hell would they leave their items unprotected after a "rollback"? The logic fails me, completely. And now I'm going to bed :) Night. -
LU207 constantly klicking off players and reseting
Aladoran posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hello fellow survivors and bandits! Me and my friends have been playing on LU207 for some time, we have a couple of vehicles and stuff on the server and want to keep playing a little while anyways. From time to time the admin(s) kick everyone, (probably for loot), locks it, and then unlocks it. The admins I've seen is "[TLS] Doan", "[TLS] Florian" and "HSW SpezialEd". Haven't got screencap yet but will post if I get one, just a heads up for you guys. Edit: Found another name. -
I have been looking for a new vehicle for some time now, I had an ATV but it got flipped so I had to abandon it. I have been looking in the NW corner of the map to no avail. I am aware of vehicle spawn maps and vehicle hoarding. I was wondering if anyone could provide some tips on finding vehicles.

Singaporean / SG server players, look no more! Small group of dedicated survivors is open.

we are trying to gather up weapons, ammo, supplies, tents and vehicles, once we have a decent batch of loot we will start recruiting people to join me and 2 others as survivors ;) providing we can trust you ;) haha but we usually play in the early mornings and late afternoon ^^ -
NZ 20 - Nuked Twice in an Hour - Details Inside
RSOblivioN replied to floomoo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's not just NZ 20. Nearly every AU/ANZ/NZ server yesterday was hacked in some way. Saw more choppers and vehicles running about than you'd expect to see ingame in a month in less than 5hrs. This trend continued into nearly EVERY US server I tried. Not many US servers are up to the 1.62.95170 or newer patch (my version) so that limited the testing, however nearly all on that patch were suffering hacks being used too. The problem is currently endemic to the game and is something that needs addressing asap. The thing is Battleye was a good protection while ArmA 2 wasn't in the limelight with all and sundry playing it. With it's new found popularity along come those who feel the need to destroy as well as those who just want to enjoy. The former just destroy it for the latter which is just unfortunate. Maybe Rockstar's method of only allowing hackers to join hacked servers is a good idea... -
I hope you are happy now murderer at Stary Sobor
[email protected] replied to Kalle^'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hate people like that, two people attempted to steal me and my friends bike, I killed the driver passanger ( with M107 ) insta alt+F4 ( FUUUUUUUUUUUU Rage Mode ) he then ghosts and attempts to snipe us, we hit him and yet again he ALT+F4 and never came back, luckily though we found their base and stolen their 3 vehicles and all their weapons such as LMG's, so it made up for it :) -
Quick question about vehicles...
Daddy'o (DayZ) replied to Rayth's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vehicle isn't tied to a person like a tent is, or is supposed to be. A tent is supposed to disappear after 2 days of the placers death but isn't anyway. This does not apply to vehicles. When you save a vehicle only the location and inventory is saved regardless of who saves it. If you die, the vehicle will stay put until moved and saved by someone else or 7 days pass and it despawns. -
Saving is used to update the hive server about that vehicles location on a server, as it's too costly data wise to have it constantly update. So, once you disembark from your bike, always Save it. Also, water pumps are only used by right clicking on a Water Canteen on your inventory screen to fill it.

Insane Amount of Hackers
Oldboy (DayZ) replied to Survivor Tyler's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yeah Ive found that US servers seem to have more hackers than elsewhere. Came across a god mode guy the other night. Full 6 rounds from a Revolver to the skull and no kill, then he 1 hit instakilled me... And seeing alot of vehicles which is unusual... -
Tents not saving inventory and dissapearing
Mourek replied to Maximilian (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Bug still present, we've just lost a shitload of items I can confirm that items in vehicles are getting lost too EDIT: Server EU10, DayZ 1.7.2.3, Server Beta patch version 1.62.95170 -
Wouldn't really say that this is evidence because it could have easily been a simple server crash (there's been a lot of that, as well as de-syncing, since the last dayz patch). And if you guys didn't save the vehicles anywhere after you took them, then of course they would have rolled back, the server places them in the last place they were saved, that's just the way Dayz works! AFAIK some servers can employ a system where if multiple players try to join the server in a short space of time, the server automatically locks until those players have loaded into the game. Also I doubt the administrator would be raging enough over losing a couple of tractors and crappy guns to reset the server, especially not one of the popular servers such as UK4...

How to tell when youve been murdered?
Sandwichx replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
That's not true. There a lot of glitches that will cause your character to randomly die. One of the most common ones has to do with trees. Putting things nears trees, like tents or vehicles can cause you die randomly when you try to access them. -
Hi everyone, I'm quite an enthusiastic DayZ player and I really appreciate the work of the Devs. It's really fun to play and i'm pretty satisfied with what it offers. But i'm actually missing a currency system in the game, like in every RPG. I came to this idea because back in the days we still had the side chat, people often called:"Trade gun for transfusion, gun etc." I always wondered how they would be doing it and not just bait and kill each other. It is important, that you keep every single buck from life to life, just so players maintain a certain status and dont have to start over and over again. Maybe a respawn could cost a %-age of your wealth but not everything. Just as little penalty upon dying .Well there may remain some questions about this. Money in a Zombie-Apocalypse wtf? Where the hell should i spend it?? In my scenario i don't see the entire world doomed. I rather compare it to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in which just a certain area is contaminated. I thought about placing military checkpoints at the edge of the world with some NPCs. Why would they be there? Just as in stalker, that the infection does not escape the area. With these NPCs players could trade their cash to weapons, gear, small vehicles(motor- and bicycles , ATVs) etc. These NPC places could also act as kind of nokill- and spawnzone. Not sure about the nokillzone. One thing's for sure. They would be hotspots and would be camped. So there need to be many. The NPCs would also offer a a closet to the player for some bucks, which can be used to store some high value items. Not much though. Maybe 1-2 weapons and 10 slots of gear. Just so you have a backup plan upon dying. This is just to maintain a certain status, comparable to a Level system in RPGs. Just it can be rollbacked. How would i earn my money at all? The beginning of all money should be a certain amount of cash as soon as the feature would be implemented. But of course there should be more ways. The main source of income should be killing zombies. It would make killing Zs more rewarding and even new players have the chance to access some easy bucks. The amount shouldnt be to high as grinding bucks for OP gear is not intended. It just servers as moneygenerator. The focus of earning money should be trading and helping eachother out. Also selling items like fuel tank parts or scrap metal to the NPCs could yield a good amount. Taking the usage of inventoryspace and the dangerous travels into account there should be quite a big payment in the end. I also connected a bounty system with my idea. If you kill innocent players, a bounty will automatically be set on your head. Not sure about that because many banditing players might complain. But bounty usually is prestige for bandits isnt it? :) If not automatically placed, I would say players can put bounty on somebody's head. But you would have to know the name of the bandits then. Players should not know that the player infront them has got a bounty on his head. But there should be a Top-5-Bounty list at the NPC camps. So accidental kills in self defense are not a problem at all. All in all, bountyhunting would be a way to earn money. NOT only for survivors as bandits often kill each other aswell. Players should not know that the player infront. The next way to get some bucks would be trading with other players. Trade a custom amount of money for something you need. If it is a gun, a transfusion, food - just everything. I though about a special way for bandits to earn money. Players should spawn with a dogtag which can be taken. Maybe there could be added an NPC banditcamp where you can trade this dogtag for bucks. Just as a way to stop camping and encourage the bandits to really confirm their kill. The fact that you would lose a %-age of your money upon dying would reduce the farming of those dogtags. Also giving the bounty to one of your bandit friends wouldn't be possible when you lose more buck then you receive. So far to earning money. What is this shit all about? Is there any deeper sense in this stupid idea??!? Yes there is. The very first and most important thing of my idea would be, that players, that really invest time in this mod, dont have to start all over again all the time. Also this idea should enable more social interaction in form of trading. If you want to earn your money you really need to help the person out to reveive it. Although scamming might be a problem that needs to be fixed. I did not intend to adress a "problem of banditry" by adding in a bounty. I just want to make it more rewarding for "the good ones" to kill a bad guy. Also the zombie hunt gets more rewarding as now every single kill would yield cash. Even some worthless items, such as scrap metal which is really rarely used would now get some more reputation. And maybe it even would kick out griefing. It hardly yields money and has no longterm use. As people will lose a %-age of their collected wealth they WILL definately care about surviving. We are all human and we dont give away freebucks. Mhh..this should be everything for now. I apologize for typos and wrong grammar. Just in case :).It's 5am and i didn't read over my own wall of text once more ^^ . And I am very thankful for your attention so far. I hope i could convince some of you of my idea. Also dont forget to let me know what you think! Improvements to this idea? Or do you think it sucks ass? If youre interested in this topic stick to it, as i will update THIS post right here with. Either information i forget or new ideas(by myself or other post. I will link you to them aswell). I am really looking forward to your opinions. Please be constructive and polite. I'd like to have a nice and clean discussion here.

Become a hunter.. study the map, think "if I was a lesser intelligent being where would I hide my vehicle.." That's how you find vehicles on top of mountains/hills, just NE or Stary and other various obvious places. This is going on the premise that the server you're on isn't run by moronic server admins who lock the server on restart to hoard all the vehicles. When that happens, make sure you find a satchel charge or two then normally edge of the map material.
