    Chernaus Narco Tanks

this might be uber excessive but ive seen plenty of pics of peeps whove modified their vehicles for defense below showing a scary example of which wouldnt wanna jack this car :S
  2. Find a good server, stay on it, don't use Six Launcher and only update when the server updates. Since tents and vehicles are per server it makes sense to stick with one anyway.
  3. 3rdparty

    Chernaus Narco Tanks

Oooh this thread got ruined by off-topic sensitivities. And no to mention a poor topic title :( Regardless anyone else got thoughts on this? I cannot believe peeps wouldnt want to mod their vehicles in this fashion, and seems completely plausible for the DayZ environment.
  4. I host a couple servers but have also played on 602. The tents and vehicles will sometimes despawn due to restarting or patching but everything is saved server side. I had this happen with the recent patch on a server I was hosting and had to do a few server restarts for our camp to show up. 602 restarts every few hours I think but keep checking.. it'll come back And 602 used to be LA 5
  5. responding in order: this isn't supposed to be a game unless rocket has changed his objectives. it's supposed to be an experiment and antigame that does something different from every other game out there, so that addresses whether or not it wants to become a real game. 1.) end game play only becomes hunting for better gear if that's all you can think of to do. other people have found other self made objectives to complete beyond gear. one of the major philosophical motivations behind this mod (as best as i could tell at least) is that the developer should not hold the players hand and dictate how they play the mod, what their objectives are, etc. if you're bored once you have all teh phat lootz, it's your responsibility to alleviate that boredom somehow, not the developers job to hard code objectives into the mod. players as zombies has been thought about and last i knew it was outside of the scope of the project. 2.) banditry will never be punished. adding AI soldiers would take resources away from other things, like handling more players per server or more zombies per server. i also don't really want the world populated by npcs that favor one playstyle (bandits vs survivors) over another. 3.) i think having all the good military loot in only a couple spots around the map does a good job of drawing players towards those areas. it makes these areas unsafe and increases tension and paranoia in these areas significantly. i wouldn't mind seeing huge hordes pop up every now and then, but again, i'm not so keen on the AI soldiers. 4.) i'm neutral on this as i haven't thought it through too deeply. would make sense i suppose, depending on how far in time we are from z day. not sure how it would affect resource allocation though, i believe there was some technical difficulties with vehicles in the past. 5.) load times seem to vary for me from server to server. faster is always better though. and finally, if you're bored and all you can find to do is kill players, perhaps you should try something different? perhaps you could try helping people instead of killing them?
  6. I made one, waiting for an answer since they banned me. But its really hard to show you hard facts - for example these guys spawning vehicles or actually banning for nothing directly recorded - because i cant record and watch them all day long. The longer this lasts the more i think this is a bit of a freeform for all server admins to do whatever they want to. Nobody can do a sh** about it, the dev's response time is waaay too long. But its not a problem of the dev's or the creator of this mod, this is a problem placed in the community / people who play it. Since i opened this thread i got dozens of PM's to give out the locations of the camps with cheated loot, almost everytime they write something about "want to destroy that camp". Hell yeah who cares, you are just some more cheater like parasites that want to get "rich" by abusing the system. The devs dont care about some ppl abusing the system as long as the mod isnt finished at all, they got other things in mind. If they fix the duping bugs and all the other ones, this problem will fade out.

Get rid of all the sniper rifles

I think your opinion and the other guys explanation are crap and that we must be playing two different games. Sniper rifles are powerful but they aren't game changers. I've taken out 5 people with an AKM and they all had AS50s. I followed them around for minutes. I've followed so many sniper rifle toting guys around, followed them to their camps, back to their vehicles, JOINED THEM without saying anything and just had a jolly good old time and never even noticed as not being someone from the group until I decided it was too late. If you think sniper rifles are crazy op you haven't learned to use the terrain differently than you currently do. Players are only powerful because people are mass duping. They'll eventually fix it and until they do the game is perfectly playable to me.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

I'd love to see weapon (& clothing etc) deteriorate rather than less ammo, so you either find parts or whole weapons and maintain them. A form of crafting basically. As well as being able to create better clothing (from quieter shoes to protective clothing both for warmth & dryness aswell as armor & effective camoflage). The ability to craft survival items such as splints for broken limbs or an alternative to lighting a fire by using a whisky bottles base or a lens from a pair of glasses (of couse can only be lit using the suns rays) Using the animals for more than food (twine & skins (leather). And plants (herbs) for infections etc. So many things could be done to enhance and extend the survival aspect, i'm sure its been thought of I just hope the arma engine dosen't restrict the potential of this game. Yes its "ok" for now but as we all know once you have your kit what else to do? Unfortunately that "what else" sems to end up in PvP, vehicles alone don't seem to be a large enough incentive for cooperation. Fortifying buildings (i don't mean only placing (badly due to armas current limitations/clunkyness) wire fence/tank deterants & bear traps), then a town and rebuildsing a society seems the logical progression, can the arma engine accomodate these ideas? And yep shooting a weapon should be the absolute last option so if a swarm comes rushing to every gun shot maybe player killing will be reconsidered if it truely were a life threatening decision for the murderer rather than a folie.
  9. There is little point of saying NOOOOOOOO in a nice video if you don't say why. Right now there is no reason to keep playing this game. I can log in to LOTS of different servers at the barracks and pray for something good. But there is nothing to do but hunt other players. This isn't really a good format for that as I stated (no vehicles) OR in the same time I could just go make my own Arma missions. I have 4 friends who bought this game just to play zombies..... bear in mind I've made arma missions that last 4 hours+ minimum to complete (don't ask how long they took to make). Essentially the end game of Day Z is less than 1% chance at a good drop. That's not an end game mechanic thats a hamster turning on a wheel. I feel certain in about 2 weeks my friends will stop playing Day Z. And then maybe I'll start writing missions again.
  10. Our Squad plays very often on US295 but during the last few days strange things happend, or are still happening. The Server is often PW-Protected with 1/30 Players, i reckon its the admin. The admin doesn't respond to our efforts to get in contact. Even now ~20:30 UTC+2 its pw-protected for several hours. Two Days ago we joined and found out that both our campsites, they are ~3,5 kilometers apart, are simply gone, along with it the 6 vehicles. Not a single clue what happend, because everything was wiped out. We really liked the Server, despite the fact that we are from Germany(we think, because of the admins ping, he is too[or at least europe]) because our Pings are round about 200, the servertime suited our style of play, it runs stable and nobody of us had problems joining. I don't care about the campsites or the lost gear/vehicles much, and we are no vengefull people we just want to play on our stable trusted server. sry for my humble english Edit A mate found http://dayzmod.com/f...page__hl__us295 i revise most of the above, specally the campsite thing, could be buggy, shit happens. but the password protection still... bothers me. makes me curious. Edit 2 Got an answer from he admin to a message i send, he explained the password-protection(" serious issues getting it updated to the latest beta"), which is why they needed to test it before they open it again. Maybe i search for an german server where i can state my concerns in my native language so that they came across more as they are intended, or i learned a new www lesson, that apologises result in having a pair of brass balls thrown at you... over and out

Get rid of all the sniper rifles

Be creative einstein. Hunt other camps, vehicles, whatever, you're a grown-up, i'm not going to do all the work for you...
  12. Kiro (DayZ)

    What is it with people...?

You just lose the equipement you had in your inventory. You can put a tent and vehicles in a safe place (ie the forest, far from towns) and hoard a lot of weapons and equipements, you won't lose these when you die.
  13. I'm enjoying playing Dayz but I think it needs some serious improvement if it ever wants to become a real game. Yes it is an alpha and I realize that but there are some glaring holes in the gameplay. That being said I'd like to offer a few suggestions. 1) Zombies need to be more of a threat than other survivors. After you've survived to day 3 or longer you pretty much can't lose this game except to another player. That's kind of garbage when you think about what that does for end game play. End game play becomes hunting for better gear which often entails shooting other players. Other players collect gear you probably want so why bother going to look for it? As countless others have said there is no reason I should NOT shoot you when I see you. That means somewhere along the line you've failed as a designer (don't worry there are ways to fix it). How do you make zombies more dangerous? The obvious solution there is to allow players to play zombies. I get the sense the spirit of this game was that survivors were not primarily designed to kill each other. Letting people play as zombies is a good way to encourage people to kill other survivors when they are a zombie and let them go when they are a fellow survivor. Mechanically speaking Arma is setup to have the zombies be hostile civilians. Just have zombie players join that team. If a player zombie gets numerous suvrivor kills he could perhaps rank up or get new powers (unrealistic perhaps but it IS a video game right). At the least he could be promoted to a zombie lieutenant with all the powers that grants in arma. That's right.... let players command AI zombies. Now that is a scary thought. People will want to play zombies and people will want to kill zombies. The result is more people want to play the game. Zombie players should be marked with a green square next to their name on the player list. Obviously we need aso need a larger variety of zombies. I'm just going to list a few suggestions: a] Zombie mouth foamer: has an infectious bite that deals damage over the course of a day (maybe 1000 dmg initially and 1000 damage daily until cured by antibiotics). b] Zombie screamer: lets have a female zombie shall we not? She yells in a hideous zombie scream if you aggro her and that scream will call ALL the nearby zombies (200m). c] Zombie brute: built like a tank he can get shot 20-30 times and not die but 3 bullets in the head will stop him. d] Zombie charger: he runs faster than other zombies and will knock you over when he hits you. To compensate for this this attack must be very slow (maybe every 20 seconds). 2) Banditry needs to have consequences. I'm going to suggest that anyone who has more than 5 survivor kills (maybe 10) should be placed on the red team. They would have a red square on their name on the player list. Ideally you would have to do something to learn they are a bandit (such as look at the corpse of someone he killed but Arma can't do that as far as I know). That would of course be the superior option to have people permanently be labeled as bandits (red name when you look at them) if you examine a corpse shot by another player. On this line I suggest that we have player killer notices enabled as a default. It makes for a more interesting experience. I'd like to have perhaps 3 permanent soldier stations on the map that will shoot at bandits. It shouldn't be anything too brutal but I think the squad should be at least 8-10 soldiers (at least 1 sniper, 2 MG, 1 officer, 1-2 medics ). This gives bandits something to do.... you can kill the soldiers for guns instead of other players. There should also be random soldier squads that spawn probably 4-6 soldiers (officer with NVG, MG, sniper in ghillie suit, medic, and the extras would be riflemen). They roam across the map and shoot zombies and bandit players if they see them. They spawn in at any of a number of points and just walk across the map hunting hostiles. Arma is well suited to handle such scripts. You can even spawn in a squad of 4 soldiers in a Humvee that players could steal (soldiers should have a habit of getting out to kill zombies). Now you have a situation where Bandit players have something to do (and a new thing to do... watch out for soldiers!). There are "players" that survivors can trust (unless you shoot a member of their squad) and you have new ways to get loot. Along the same line there should be random bandit spawns. They should have more bandit like gear.... enfields, shotguns, etc but be larger groups overall. A bandit roaming spawn should be 6-10 enemies and a static bandit element should only be 4 enemies (because bandits double cross each other). Note you cannot become friendly to bandits! Bandits should have large stores of food and water and general supermaket supplies. Instead of rading 5-10 supermakets you could just attack a bandit group instead. Maybe give each bandit a guaranteed: axe, knife, compass, map, matches or watch. You can even spawn 1 bandit in the bigger cities as well.... but he only kills survivors, bandits, and zombie players. The big loot from the bandits of course would be the all black outfit (shouldn't be too hard to implement if it isn't already there). And then you'd have people wearing black suits and black bandannas (or maybe even old timey black bandit masks). There would be no question... if you see a player wearing black you shoot them. 3) Don't have all the best loot in the same place. The only real place to go once you have gear is to the airfield if you want better stuff......BORING! You could do all sorts of neat things with this game. Take one castle and have a zombie hoarde event. Arma can handle scripts for this too. Every so often have the event trigger when a player gets close to the castle. Spawn in 60-80 zombies to attack a group of 5 soldiers in the castle. The soldiers will almost surely die. The question is can the player clear them out to get the loot from the bodies of the zombies/soldiers? Right now everyone will just build their compound up north because that's where the good gear spawns. Once again this would be boring. On that note shouldn't there be a few alive soldiers at the airfield? 4) Arma as a walking simulator is extremely boring. People hoard vehicles and it ruins the experience for others. I've looked up where all the vehicles have spawned and other than a bike I've never seen one. Why? Because people immediately take them to other places for their personal use. I really like whoever made the suggestion before that repairable vehicles should be more common and gasoline should be the rarity. 5) Loading takes way too long (self explanitory no paragraph needed) Ok those are my thoughts about your game. It's a nice effort as is but there's no way it will continue to be viable in its current form. There is a reason people are getting bored. It's not because you can't build bases yet.... there isn't enough to do in game that doesn't revolve around killing other players.

The one thing i hate about Dayz

I think we do need an autorun or more vehicles also. It takes much to long. WHen I die I basically do the Cherno/ Bolota then stopping at 3 towns for shopping stores while making my way to the NW airfield. It's rinse and repeat same thing every death.

Possible hacking on US 5 (unrepentant)

First, we don't run the server, Alex Sykotix does (don't know his in game name (maybe admin?). Second, we aren't hacking. Third, I've yet to encounter a 'nuking' of the server but I've heard that it does happen. Fourth, stumbling across a camp by no means makes anyone a non-noob :) and we also don't have a 'camp' and multiple vehicles so that wasn't our stuff you took. Fifth, none of us died though there was an attempt on Valec (which failed). Evaded? Evaded what? Everything we're talking about happened in a single night, you're reality is blurred by some imaginary Chernarusville timezone. Also, if you think US 5 blows, GTFO.

    Camp with Vehicles

My friends and I had a similar issue, but we apparently stole the admins vehicle. We came across 11 tents and a group of vehicles out of bounds. Looted what we wanted from the tents and took a nice jeep. 3 minutes later an unannounced server restart (you have 10 seconds) we immediately saved the vehicle. Logged back into the server after restart... it restarts again. Admin trying to get his vehicle back (or a friends). We know where your stuff is, and the next time that happens we're gonna run over all your tents and Frag the vehicles... Be careful about those sites. They are most likely owned by admin and clan members. But feel free to run over the tents in one of the vehicles and destroy what you can... They deserve it for locking the server at start up for a bit to "test" and when teh general populace enters teh server all the vehicles are out of bounds.
  17. So I assume this is obvious but r/dayz and many stories on this forum show that this needs to be addressed. When you have a large group of friends and multiple vehicles dont put all your assets in one location. I keep seeing jackpot finds from random groups going tent hunting and wounder why on earth the clan or group put all the vehicles and equipment in one location. If you think about it you should have multiple vehicles spread out in low visibility areas with at least 2000m differences. Also not all tents should be placed in a single area, I would even recommend making tents across multiple servers in case of a server wipe. What do you guys do to protect your camp from loot hunters? And does anyone have any cool stories of raiding a full camp?
  18. -Increase Primary weapons audio ranges by 50% -Increase zed audio aggro by 50% -Once a player has zed aggro, they get the concussion debuff for 1 minute. If they log out during this time, they are hit with a 6 minute knock out when relogging. REASONS: PvP is rampant because there's literally no consequence for shooting. This needs to change. I enjoy pvp as much as the next guy but it's getting old not having any danger from shooting. Just last night I shot 3 guys with a Lee in Cherno and got ZERO zed aggro. I was shocked! And honestly disappointed that I was in no danger from shooting such a loud gun. Other changes: -Inventory overhaul: Since I've figured out that double clicking works, it's been less of a pain, but it's still a pain. We need a faster way to loot/dump items. -Decrease spawn rate on high grade weapons We all talk about realism in this game. Well, realistically, we'd all mostly only have pistols, shotguns, melee weapons and an occasional auto-rifle in a post-apoc society. Right now, how many of us could just go get an M4 or .50 cal sniper rifle? I know I can go get a pistol or shotgun at the local gun shop though. -Fix the damn ammo bug! This will greatly reduce how much we shoot! This is another big factor of why people pvp. There's no loss of ammo since we can just relog and get 4 full ammo clips again. We all basically have infinite ammo. This is killing the whole immersion and realistic part of the game. -Skins change (optional) based on actions done. Every 1k zombie kills, you get a new skin or something. Same with every 10 player kills, etc. Same with every 5 vehicles fixed, etc. I'll add more ideas later.

Get rid of all the sniper rifles

I agree of remove SOME of snipers; Who needs a AS50? M107? They are Anti-Material weapons that are USED against Armored Vehicles, not on people like you guys that own these guns do. To balance the game, it should only have M24, SVD and DMR of Military Snipers, ONLY. And increase the spawn chance of CZ550 and later add some others more common civilian snipers rifles.
  20. If you like hackers/Kids who spawn vehicles and weapons. I recommend you do not join this clan.. Nuff said.
  21. Hey Guys, Im playing with a Friend on a american Server and we placed our Tent on a secret Place :P But thats not the Point. So we found a Vehicle and logged out. On the next day and a Serverrestart the Vehicle was disappeared. So Ive got the Question, is a Vehicle after a Serverrestart never at the position as before? Or has that other reasons? Sorry for my very bad English... greetz. Mike
  22. The number of players on a server has not even changed, it has been 30-50 the whole time. trust is not even a part of the game. You don't need to trust people in skype, you know they will not betray you. And you cannot trust people you meet ingame since its deathmatch. Lets just say I highly doubt that these numbers are valid and were carefully collected. I have made very different experiences. Probably not. I guess if you want to shoot everything that moves and is not part of your skype, then it doesn't even matter if the game enforces this type of play or not. So its probably understandable that you didn't notice any decline in player interaction diversity. If multiplayer interaction consists of KOS or group based KOS I'd consider that deathmatch/teamdeathmatch. Even if it has some tactical elements to it. It doesn't really matter if there are other ways to die in the game. Again, I don't believe you. Using 3rd party voice communication is not ingame and killing is not interaction. So tell me, where was the ingame interaction there despite killing people on sight? When you kill people they don't react anymore, so it is not interaction. And talking to some people on skype after your little deathmatch intermezzo is hardly something that happened ingame. I don't wanna discuss feelings here, but I can assure you I play alot. Three days ago I picked up some random unarmed dude in one of my vehicles and drove himm around a bit, then proceeded to drive across whole chernarus. Two days ago I fought in a supermarket with a friend on skype against random people although there was more stuff in it then we all could carry. Yesterday I fortified a survivor base in cherno, but since it was nighttime after a reset and most beginner players do not carry NVG like me and my friend, in the end nobody actually came. After all interaction is more shallow than it used to be. Mindless shooting over an abundance of ressources simply doesn't make any sense. Trying to establish friendly interaction with lots of effort and without authentic ingame motives doesn't make that much sense either, it feels forced and unnatural. The game needs INGAME incentives to open up non-deathmatch player interaction and diversity. Killing people needs to be a decision where you weigh something against something else, not some standard procedure, like it is in deathmatch. It was a decision when people had survivor skins and you could be identified as a player killer eventually. You had to weigh killing someone potentially innocent and being outlawed and getting new equipment against possibly helping each other out / getting backstabbed.
  23. Dorsilfin

What do you do after ... ???

It would be nice to have 2-3 characters, So i could spend time running around gearing up which was quite fun.. then either dying or handing my stuff off to a stranger and doing it again. fixing up the vehicles seems like alot of work which is fine, but again spend a few hours fixing it up. driving it around (Insert thumbs up cool status) and then when I log off ill probably never see it again. Lots of time invested for something that I will probably get to use once. I guess I should really find a solid east coast server with low ping to play on dedicated so i can stash things here and there and see if they are there when i get back lol
  24. MajPayne21

    Barbwire

The real issue is that wire that is removed just respawns when the server is restarted next. There does not appear to be any "save" command like with tents/vehicles that updates the wire's status when it's removed. So, that lovely barbed wire you just took out so you can get in the fire station is just going to be back next time. This just results in barbed wire inflation, because every new piece of wire that goes down is permanent, and even noob-friendly good samaritans are only temporarily helping things. Who wants a permanent job taking down wire in Cherno every 6 hours when your server restarts? Not me.
  25. Ancient (DayZ)

What do you do after ... ???

Two points to add on: 1. Find and repair vehicles; and 2. The "game" is still in alpha, meaning that many more features are coming (I think player bases/safehouses will be able to be built). I imagine this game will not focus on balance, but on adding additional things to collect and aquire, either through farming or through goals/acheivements. At least this would constantly give you something new to work towards.
