Maybe hacked vehicles (NL 17)
OverSpliced replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The Heli maybe a hack but the others arn't. me and a few of my friends steal vehicles from people all the time lol. Our old camp had 2 atvs, 1 UaZ, 1 Bus, 1 pickup truck{was 2 but we broke it} 1 van, 1 Gaz, 1 military offroad, and 1 ural civilian truck. we have found twice ad many but we just blow them up now. the best part was this was all on one server from just 4 of us. lol the admin was resetting the server every 6 hours so there was no night time then he just changed the name of the server twice before we lost track of it. I believe he was mad that we horded all the vehicles lmao. Its just a matter of finding peoples camps -
I agree. My friends and I have been trying to find a car for days, even switching between multiple servers, but with no luck. I think most servers have a group of players that have just stocked up all the vehicles somewhere. It's kind of lame. Feels like the only way we'll ever get a car is if we open our own servers.

Radar should be disabled on helicopters if they are brought back as it is too OP for finding all other vehicles on the server

The endgame has two major problems: 1) low motivation for cooperation 2) boredom once you have good gear It's not mystery that Rocket is considering underground construction. But what then? So you made a nice big bunker for your group and you can stash your junk in it. This game isn't about collecting things. It's about using those things to make something functional. We already have the ability to go around and collect parts to build cars and helicopters, but once they're built they only get stashed away or used to get even more stuff so you can go kill more people. That's boring. So I propose the following: Underground construction involving multiple materials If you try to dig a bunker by yourself, it's going to take a while. It's going to be a pain to keep going out by yourself to chop lumber supports or find steel to create structures. If you find a group, everything will obviously go a lot more quickly. You might want to build a truck for your group first, and then send one guy out to bring back loads of lumber and metal while others stay behind and build. Food scarcity You will find it difficult to survive on cans of beans and sardines. Hunting will be much more important, but the amount of food you can get from each animal will be less. A lone man will be okay, but for a group to survive, you're going to need to get smart. Perhaps you decide to send a guy out to slaughter every cow on the map, and he comes back with a pickup truck full of cow carcasses. Maybe you form a raiding party just to take another group's stash of food. Either way that food is gold to you, and you're going to work hard to defend it. Starvation needs to be a real danger in this game. Heavy weaponry You've seen the broken tanks around the map. Why not repair them? You have knowledge of another group across the map that has a massive amount of food and weapons. You can try to raid on foot, but you might benefit from taking the time to scavenge the land for tank parts to assemble an old Soviet tank that you can roll right into their base. But obviously any smart group isn't going to knowingly let another group get away with building a tank. So watch out for snipers at scrapyards. Take any RPGs you might find so other groups can't use them against you. Blow up fuel tanks if you know they need them. Perhaps your group will focus on helicopters if you know others are building lots of tanks. Or maybe you'll just make lots of ATVs and rely on hit and run tactics. Regardless of what you decide to do, these vehicles and weapons require cooperation to assemble. That said, a lone bandit might catch members heading back to camp and wait for the opportunity to steal vehicles, or he might just decide to try to kill everyone and take whatever he likes. Why group up and build things if you can get away with stealing them? In all, this game requires additional pressure to ask for someone's help, and the motivation to take the time to construct complex items. This model supports greater mob/syndicate behavior without destroying the viability (and even the advantage) of playing alone within this environment. People might worry that a single group will eventually dominate the entire server, but trust only goes so far. The next evening the group might find all their food is missing, and suddenly the group begins to fracture as starving members desperately attempt to use their firepower to exact revenge but fail to find food in time. Tanks, helicopters, jeeps with mounted guns, etc. won't be used to kill noobs on the coast since they need to focus on supporting the group with food and fuel. Maybe if the group has plenty of supplies, noob slaughtering will be viable and unusual fun, but it comes at the risk of squandering your advantage. DayZ is about rebuilding a post-apocalyptic world. Give us tools to really build one and fight to control it.

We just want the van :P It's my (second) favorite vehicles. We had to kill 6 people with our 4 to get it. It was an awesome gun fight. Also, don't find our camp again. >:(

Basically I figured I would collect stuff as I go and I hate electro and chernoff so I said screw it and made my way along eastern highway... I am pretty sure there is a vehicle around here hopefully I find it.. Totally my fault but it still sucks! ~Jones BtTW when a server resets do vehicles return to original locations? Thanks!

US344 admin [Logistic] Theia deathmatch mode, then looted all the corpses
budderism replied to budderism's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
So the logistic guys are just a clan that frequent? ANYTIME one of them is killed the server goes offline, our group thought they were admins, and would have left the server already if we didnt have so many vehicles/tents. Thanks for the response clint -
But the thing is, vehicles are being destroyed on a regular basis, and as far as my understanding goes, there is no way to spawn new ones, except a hard server reset, which... doesn't happen very often at all, and why would you ever want to spawn 3 bikes in 10 minutes?

Selectable Spawning made viable. [Fixes spawn-hopping, user friendly]
ZedsDeadBaby replied to ElemenoP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
First of all, vehicles do not appear on server restart. They respawn at secret intervals controlled by the hive and have nothing to do with server restarts. Secondly, if they end up in "caches" in the woods then that makes it easier to steal them. They will be repaired and you can get in one and drive away. I have owned and operated over 35 vehicles in my time in the game. About half of which I have repaired at their original spawn locations (long after a server restart, by the way) and the other half I have stolen from these super secret completely hidden "caches" you speak of. You want to travel faster? Man up and get to work. Vehicles are out there. Spawn points are not at the extreme edges of the map and two people running at each other only have to cover half the distance to meet. That's how I figured it out. Kamenka to Solichniy is around 11km. And chances are very very slim that you will end up at those extremes. More likely you will be about 5km from each other, which is an 8 minute run. Oh, god. 8 precious minutes. 3 guidelines and a bunch of timeouts and timers and you can't spawn now and a ton of completely unnecessary bullshit to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Just no. Really. -
Problem: more hoarding. Eventually an entire corner of the map will be covered with vehicles that people have built.

How far north is too far north? also how far west is too far west?
ZedsDeadBaby replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can go beyond the line like 20 kilometers if you want. Nothing is going to hurt you out there with the possible exception of other bored players. But you can't set up tents or save vehicles anymore. Slyguy it's absolutely unmistakably obvious. There is a perfectly straight line at which the grass stops growing. Like someone cut it with a knife. All along the north and west edges of the map. You really cannot miss it. -
Selectable Spawning made viable. [Fixes spawn-hopping, user friendly]
ElemenoP replied to ElemenoP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Still spawn at a random location, just on a specific coast. The game tells you where you are. You still spawn in a random area on the coast, just on a slightly more specific section of it. Vehicles end up in caches in the middle of the woods within a few hours of a server restart. I've been playing for a long ass time and yesterday was the first day I found working cars. Running cross-country takes way more than 15 mins, and the map is 15km wide. Dunno how you figured that out. Also, it's 3 guidelines, most of which the average user won't even encounter. Complicated? The game tells you where you are. This feeling has worn off for me, I just spawn hop now because I know exactly where everything is. This system doesn't remove all of that mystery, just gives you a general section to spawn on. Thank you for your insightful reply. -

ZedsDeadBaby replied to ElemenoP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is already a way to make it easier to meet up with friends after spawning. They're called vehicles. Don't have one yet? Lace up those shoes. The furthest you can possibly spawn from each other is like 10km which is a ~15 minute run. This is a complicated solution to a problem that doesn't exist. -
DayZ so F***ing Hacked I can't play.

I've never seen a hacker, just found some hacked items and vehicles, that is all. -
DayZ so F***ing Hacked I can't play.

People have been being mass-teleported on my server, and I've seen multiple helicopters and jets. We had 3 vehicles and then suddenly every person on the server teleported to our location... Pretty bullshit, in my opinion. -

The group I play with has (in the past couple of days) repaired two helicopters and quite a number of other vehicles. It's all about who you play with. Find a good group of players and the game will be that much more enjoyable. Yes, you will still die (a lot) but it's still a good time when you're not alone.

damn i gotta get some of those satchels then, my team moved our entire camp earlier today ( 10 + tents and 3 vehicles ). About 2 hours later the server restarted. I spawned at our new camp and it was all there, while traveling I came across our old site, all of our tents were back up there with everything inside. I ran them over again hope they are gone this time lol.

I think the problem is you're only seeing one side of the story (in particular, the side of the victim that is just walking along and then suddenly headshot with no clue what happened). There is a LOT going on in the game. Building tent cities, acquiring vehicles & high end loot, defending your territory/tents/vehicles from other players, etc. I saw a heli crash and camped it till a pretty van pulled up, then slaughtered them, packed the loot into the van and took off. Some guy on a tractor was going off into the wilderness, I followed him and he immediately pulled a 180 once he saw us; we dispatched him (lost the tractor unfortunately), then followed his PREVIOUS trajectory to find a pickup truck with FN FAL, Bizon, etc. I've come across camps only to have our overwatch spot the owners and fought furiously over the loot. Moved our loot while defending our camp from people who found OUR stash. Yes the game is centered around PvP, but sandbox PvP is VERY dynamic; the goals of any player you come across differ drastically, and if you were the one SPOTTING instead of BEING spotted (and thus oblivious and suddenly domed), you'd see how rich the game ALREADY is. That said, obviously there's more to come; base building will hopefully make it easier to indulge in other aspects of the game like trade, post-apocalyptic/wild-west style civilization, etc.

I note in the new patch notes that helis might be coming back in. This poses some concerning questions - At this stage he who has a copter can simply fly quickly over the map, spot the vehicles that are trying to be hidden by parking in woods or mountain tops, they can also see easily large camps. Example - I wont name the server but on this particular server I stumbled across a large sprawling camp with about 10 tents in it, it was located on top of a flat hill which made it invisible from the ground. But a heli would see it easily as it was in the open and it even had a nice flat landing area near it. They could empty this camp quickly and easily ? If you are bringing in helicopters could you also implement some sort of camouflage that we can find and affix to vehicles or tents to help (ie like scrap metal is used on vehicles). This wont be a silver bullet for this problem might help to conceal tents in wooded areas ? To those that are going to be abusive or dismissive without fully understanding this issue then dont bother responding as I will not respond back. Im just stating this as I think a large amount of the community have become lax with concealing their stuff due to no airborne craft in the game, but that will change very soon.

Thanks for reporting this Adinise I also reported it here http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/43162-lu252-vehciles-teleported-off-map-and-players-killed/ The actually never teleported everyone, they teleported all vehicles and the unlucky people inside vehicles at the time
