The goal: Make fuel much more scarce and difficult to obtain while reducing fuel consumption of vehicles to realistic levels. The thought behind these ideas is, that the limiting factor for driving vehicles should not be finding a vehicle but repairing it with parts and then getting enough fuel to run it. The fuel gathering process should be much more difficult - for a solo player extremely difficult (and dangerous) Edit: This should be combined with my other suggestion regarding spare parts and vehicle spawn: http://dayzmod.com/f...nism-workshops/ The changes for jerrycans and fuel stations: - Jerrycan is changed to weapon slot (10 slots in backpack) To use a Jerrycan it has to be equiped of course. - Jerrycans only spawn in EMPTY condition (or at reduced rate also full) and are more difficult to find. - Filling a Jerrycan is done with two options: * Manual with a hand cranked fuel pump: will Fill 1 liter per 10 seconds. * Automatic with a powered fuel station (see below): full 20 liters in 10 seconds. - Possibility to power fuel stations with a portable generator as discussed in many other threads: Powered station can fill Jerrycans faster and has the possibility to refill Vehicle without use of Jerrycans. - Fuel Stations have the possibility to be out of fuel until the next server restart. This should be a chance of 1 in 2 initially. - Fuel Stations can run out of Fuel - Refueling the vehicles seems fine at the moment but if possible: only use Fuel till car is full (rest remains in Jerrycan) Added out of the feedback for clarification: - Jerrycans have a partionned state just like "ammo" (so partly filled jerrycans are possible for example 15 liters - a 3/4 full jerrycan) The Changes for vehicles: - Consumption of fuel reduced to realistic levels. (Best example is the ATV which uses around 2 or 3 liters per single kilometer even on a road...) - Fuel Tank size for vehicles reduced to realistic size.

Should armed vehicles be added to Dayz?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to FrankDaTank1218 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not against the idea of couple of rare low powered armed vehicles (not a 50 cal on a pick-up - In Arma those were bloody brutal) but it's just a case of balance. -
Should armed vehicles be added to Dayz?
Apelo replied to FrankDaTank1218 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It is a nice idea that I have thought about myself, however considering that many big 'clans' often dominate and hoard vehicles it is likely they would get hold of one (or more) anyway, quite quickly. It is definitely an interesting mechanic against zombies however for me it ends there. Against players (extra resistent glass and I assume wheels) would mean that the person in said vehicle is practically invulnerable and above that now has mounted guns. There is hardly any potent anti-vehicle weapons out there also, and who will want to actually shoot at a vehicle that will seconds later be able to stop and shoot them back - not to mention be faster then them. Also, where does it stop? Why not just bring tanks into the game and give everyone rocket launchers? My thoughts is simply give the ability to shoot out of windows with a massive accuracy penalty. -
Should armed vehicles be added to Dayz?
BearGravy replied to FrankDaTank1218 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't think so, because once someone finds it Cherno or Electro or even the NWA will be under constant fire, people would abuse the power of it, and because rockets are extremely rare as well it would be impossible to take who ever is driving it down. Now if they made it to where you have to build it from ground up, and only one of the vehicles you are talking about are in one server per vehicle, and it has it's own parts which are extremely rare, then yes I would say it would be fine. -
Should armed vehicles be added to Dayz?
FrankDaTank1218 (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Should Lightly armed land/sea vehicles be added to Dayz as super rare vehicles? For example: -Technicals (civilian pickup trucks with a machinegun in the bed) -UAZ with a DSHKM (.30 cal MG) -Humvee with a M240 -Boats with MG's The way I could see it working is that armed vehicles have additional parts to be repaired, in addition to hull, wheels, fuel, and engine, it could also have "gun". Two new parts could be added in as well (both would be rare), without both of these parts applied to the vehicle, the gun won't fire. These two parts would be: 1.The gun itself. In ARMA 2, there are already mounted guns in bags as items and you could add them to Dayz as items that go into your inventory for 6 slots or more, then with a toolkit you could repair a vehicle's gun with it. For instance, a Humvee with an M240 will require a mounted M240 bag to repair its gun, and a UAZ with a DSHKM will need a DSHKM bag. 2.A special ammo box item for vehicles. For example, it would be an item that looks like the weapon boxes from vanilla arma 2 that take 6 slots of inventory space, and are titled "Vehicle Ammo Box". This would have to be applied to an armed vehicle (not needing a toolkit, its just reloading, no tools required) to give its gun a limited amount of ammo, and when the ammo runs out another box will be needed. This will make using an armed vehicle difficult due to needing a rare item to replenish ammo. I think this could work. Do you? -
Add in Humvees (unarmed ones)
Todds replied to FrankDaTank1218 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Me too, a bit more then just civillian cars would be nice. I mean all the military weapons, military bases, so on and so forth. Not having military vehicles is just awkward. Maybe one apc per server even, or a few humvees. Make them rare, and useful, not a few bullets into the engine block from shit barn weapons and its done. -
Are you tired of all bandits constantly camping in the cities and other high loot areas, waiting for a random person to kill? Are you tired of being shot when not posing any threat, being unarmed? So am I! Are you well armed and in a team of skilled players? Do you have a camp, possesss vehicles? Looking for something else to do exept looting and ambushing other players? So do I... It's time to enforce some order in this country! My plan: Gather a team and visit high player density areas. Once there, kill the bandits and other pvp menaces. Now that the bandit skins are out, it is hard to tell who is a bandit or not. By sending a scout first attracting the attention of other players, it's easy to tell who has intentions to kill. Once the scout is being shot at, send in the rest of the team and clear the area. Rinse and repeat! Let us show those bandits that they are not safe anymore. That they should not kill newcomers just for fun, and that it shall not pass without consequenses. We have one common emeny, the zombies... Now who do you think you are??? Bandits... Yours sincerly, Body Baggins

I was banned on server US 415 for personal reasoning. I was banned due to falsely accused harassing in teamspeak. When in fact I hadn't been in their teamspeak for about 2-3 weeks and the whole time I was in their teamspeak I was only respectful to everyone in there. Also that has nothing to do with the in game mechanics anyways. The Admin just has a grudge against me and my group to us being bandits and killing the admin a multitude of times. We aren't even hunting him, we just killed him once in a while. We even found a M4A1 Holo SD w/ M203 Attachment on him which is not currently in the game. I made a post on their thread asking why I was banned, and he refused to tell me due to the fact that I was no longer a member to their clan. I can no longer find that post due to him archiving it and locking it so I can't reply. He holds this grudge also because I was originally going to join their clan but I was hanging with a diffent group that was not clan affiliated with them and they made me make a choice between choosing the people who actually played with me and etc, while with UGF I was always going solo for the most or just sitting on the back of the vehicle not doing much. So I chose the people who'd actually play. So because that he seems to be holding a personal grudge against me for some reason. I'm honestly not sure what other info I need to include in this so please tell me what i'm lacking and i'll say so. Also I don't want to play on a different server because this is where we're set up, we have vehicles, a camp with a nice amount of weapons, all of that fun stuff.

Never noticed anything like that, although I also haven't found many vehicles. -
We'll again I don't know if this has come up before... checked the forum so. OK, so here we go: Imagine, you come across a tent. You check it for loot and you find yourself in need of a blood bag. Now here it comes, how cool would it be that you would be able to leave a note in the tent and leave a message like: “Borrowed a blood bag, left a can of beans for you” or “If I were you, I’d get the f*ck out of here because I’m camping out here now” I personally think it would be a fun feature to the game; maybe it can be acquired after finding an item like, a notebook? Or something alike. What do you guys think about this? I’d like some feedback on this and if some players like this maybe we can get Rocket’s attention on this because I’d really like to see this in the game :D ADDED: Messageboard in or around cities that can be used to put up notes, like bounties and warnings for example! -idea thanks to Hulahuga! Thanks! ---------EDIT------------ Ok it seems like this idea has come up before in the idea of: chalk http://dayzmod.com/f...ther-survivors/ messages http://dayzmod.com/f...leave-messages/ but in this way people would just be polluting the world in my opinion. With a notebook it would be limited to the ability to create a "note" as a item that can be dropped in tents or vehicles. And to read it you'd have to put it in you inventory, right click and "read note". Like I said, i'd like to see this ingame though I have no Idea of how hard such a feature could be to implement.

I honestly don't think they are fixed yet. We stole a server admin's Huey the other day, and my mate got killed by desynch. (Server admin wasn't too happy about the theft though, pilot was killed by a hacker when he logged on later. Just by chance i guess :P) And huey's have a radar function, that enables them to track vehicles & tents. Making it extremely easy to find larger camps & stashed vehicles. Im guessing that's the main reason it got removed.

This is a valid question, and so we shall dive into the details: - First, the damage increase the AS50 Mag provides over the M107 Mag is non-trivial. Sure, the extra damage is overkill for a player, but it makes a big difference when targeting vehicles. - Next, the accuracy, or ballistic precision, of the AS50 is better than the M107 (1.5 MOA vs. 3.0 MOA). Practically, this is realized in Day Z/ArmA 2 through the dispersion of the rifle. In simple terms, the AS50 will shoot a tighter group at range when compared with the M107. - The AS50 ammunition exhibits higher performance than the M107 ammunition; that is, it produces a higher muzzle velocity, displays less bullet drop, and reaches a desired range faster (i.e. reduced flight time) than its M107 counterpart. - The AS50 is notably quieter than the M107. This has significant tactical implications for how long the operator can remain in their spot after firing before relocating to avoid detection. There are only two tangible advantages for the the M107: (1) the magnification of its scope (14x vs. 12x), and (2) weapon zeroing at 900m and 1100m (where the AS50 increments zero ranges in intervals of 200m starting at 800m). The latter is mitigated by the increased ranges available to the AS50 (1400 and 1600). As with many things, it is ultimately a matter of personal preference. However, I would argue that the AS50 is the superior sniper rifle for the vast majority of applications in Day Z.

I know :( I'd suggest 'spawn more vehicles' only ... but the servers will be flooded with vehicles and in the end they are not as rare as they should be anymore. yeah i just put a random number in, sorry Ima edit it to x meters ;P

I'm not saying I flew a hacked-in heli that I didn't spawn (I really didn't spawn it) but me and 4 others (me as pilot, but the heli doesn't exist so how could i of piloted it?) flew all around chernarus doing some badass raiding. I landed next to crashed helis.. landed next to markets.. I even landed right on the factory rooftop that's south east of Polana. Desyncs happened every few minutes except for the pilot (me but I didn't pilot anything) but when the desyncs happened.. it looks like I crash the heli or whatever for others but for me (the pilot) I never desync. I really don't know what the problem is with helis other than the desyncing issue which is just a pseudo-reality when it happens as everybody resyncs a few seconds later. :) Oh and Helicopters are awesome other than the fact you can just just look straight down and see EVERY SINGLE THING through the miles of trees. Can see stashed vehicles and tents easily. Sorta kills the point of spending hours trying to find a hidden camp.

Just what is the best sniper?
Areos (DayZ) replied to Chewbacca Jesus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The AS50 is the best sniper to use during the day due to its immense damage, extreme effective range and being semi automatic. It'll kill any player in one shot, and will destroy vehicles in conjunction with AS50 ammunition. The DMR is the best sniper to use at night solely because it's the only sniper rifle compatible with night vision goggles, if you're discounting the modified FN FAL. It has very plentiful ammunition with a large magazine size, deals great damage and is semi automatic. -
Obviously it's not fun having vehicles work the way they do now, but I don't have any suggestions as to what should be done to avoid farming and hoarding them. The only pro at all is that somewhere, there's a big pile of dreams to ruin, but half of the time messing with a vehicle horde will just get you kicked by an admin anyway. Seriously, even the people hoarding vehicles don't have fun because of it. It's something you do because it's a goal and because you feel that doing so gives you more control. It's the natural thing for any committed group of people to aim for, but it's not enjoyable.

Make sure to add different "skins" to this camo's or people will just learn how they look really fast and they will actually make the vehicles easier to spot.

Hi there, I'm new here I searched for 'vehicle' in the forums and scanned all for possible 'same suggestions'. Didn't find one. So everyone knows, you don't find vehicles just on your way when strolling from one village to another. Thats because some guys are already hoarding them at a/mulitiple specific location(s). My suggestion: 1. restrict the vehicle save to 1 vehicle per person (on the masterserver not just on the gameserver). (PLUS one helicopter) 2. don't allow saving vehicles to close to each other. minimum distance of x meters. (gameserver) 3. if two vehicles are saved next to each other, remove one of them (random pick) and respawn it at their original spawn location. 4. (I AM AGAINST THIS:) display a message, that you can't save a vehicle 'on this location' because it's to close to another one (against it because: obviously when you try to save a vehicle unknowingly in the radius of the other vehicle, you'll be notified that there is another vehicle in a radius of x meters and could be exploited) 5. display a message, that you're about to save new vehicle and that the previous one will be RESPAWNED instantly. (not sure, if you can display a message, before actually doing something) 5.1. [i don't know how the saving of vehicles works, when exactly it is cancled (if someone drives it? if someone take a seat in it?)] 5.2. do always show the message, even if the previous vehicle was 'stolen' (the point: the person saving a vehicle doesn't know that his other vehicle was taken.) 6. add a chance of 0.01% to 0.1%, that a random vehicle type spawns at a random vehicle-spawn-location without the original one disappearing, chance of a vehicle spawning: every 3, 6, 12 or 24 hours. with a limit 7. asset stripping of burnt out car wrecks/crashed helicopters: add a very rare tool to strip assets just like 'gut animal' he starts 'digging' for parts. one out of 100 cars should have a functioning wheel or something. 8. add a very rare tool to FLIP vehicles. 9. ability to shoot out of vehicles (not the driver tho). 10. ability to get branches in forests with the hunting knife/hatchet. 11. ability to 'hide' your vehicle with branches. (a bus should need obvously more branches than a motorcycle) 11.0. at this point i'd like to suggest the ability to hide tents with branches. 11.1. the 'hidden' vehicles are still visible but only if you're in a specific radius of it. 12. we need a *CANDY* van type of vehicle. lol The point of this suggestion is, there may be people out there not beeing able to play dayZ for 4 hours per day and they never have/will seen/see a drivable vehicle. Also this makes the person finding vehicles to choose between them for the better one. (changes with the purpose/playing style). With the chance that there are more than the finite ammount of vehicles, you have also a higher chance of finding a vehicle. Players need to group up to save multiple vehicles and they need more teamwork to hoard them. The possibility of random spawning vehicles every 3, 6, 12 or 24 hours would attract 'new' players to 'old' servers. IF there are suggestions already suggested or even already ingame, I'd not know because I never had more than ONE vehicle at the time and never saw multiple vehicles in one location. Feel free to discuss. n69 out.

<GMSradio.net> Green Mountain Survivors - The Radio Station of the Apocalypse.
gunnysbitch replied to a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Will this server disable global? Kind of silly to have it enabled :P Also, say a group of survivors wanted to come by and have a barter with some of the camp's members, would this be possible? Any vehicles-for-rent? -
Server shotdown when Admin goes offline
foamy_d_squirrel replied to Kuchenmafia's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
As long as there is hacks to locate vehicles and stuff, i`d call it a legit move. It would piss me off to see the server going down, while i want to play -of course, or going down as a reaction to something happening in game. But it is not as fishy as passwording or kicking people since up- and downtime offer equal chances to play for everyone without abuse of the "lockdown, loot, swarming out to the rest of the hive". I'm not part of bbc either - but i think you forget someone is paying good money for the server you play on for free. And all they get in exchange is risk of losing hive access, unthankful commentary on the forums and if leaving the server up being nagged about random visitors hacking and being mistaken for admin actions. So in short: -get over your hartzIV mentality -you got equal chance to play -contact the admin yourself and offer your assistance for the time he is offline. -
If the server goes down and you notice it's on the turn of the hour, it's a server reset. The admin will also reset the server again if shit like tents/vehicles aren't present on the map after a reset. I don't think anyone minds that, there was even a thread requesting this for US 216. Heck, we've been caught by the server restart a few times (me at least) while in a vehicle.

I wish I had a satchel charge. I saw one once in a tent, but the owners came by and promptly shot me while I was grabbing the NVGs and the like it also contained. No, I have literally everything except a satchel charge and an AS50 (though I've found 3, all of which were eaten by bugs within the day). Also no vehicles, every single one I've repaired got deleted. I've seen some tin cans laying around though, I never bothered to pick them up. This guy claims they're a good trade for my NVG so I think I'll take him up on his offer and try them out. I mean, he's giving me several things for just one item. It's gotta be a good deal!

**Awesome Server Host**New Timchanging feature & Pre-whitelisted | VILAYER
w4ve_0f_l4g replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
So my server is currently up and running and everything runs great! No dsync and fantastic ping! I just have one question, it appears that there are no vehicles on my server. I sent a support ticket and it was answered promptly saying that this is a problem with Dayz. I haven't been able to find anything on the internet about this issue, and was wondering if I could get some more information on what exactly the problem is (Do vehicles never spawn or does it just take time?) Thanks for the great support, I'm posting here because I'm sure that other ViLayer customers may have the same questions that I do.
