  1. Yep i own the server with 24 different ip addresses, what they gunna do? not much. You all knew it was private - it's the reason you played, it has custom content and clearly states it every 500 seconds in the motd. Yep i make bases for admin and players to find for there camps - beats barbwire and some tents up north. There are plenty of vehicles for everyone (and new custom ones coming today) - why anyone is bothered by an admin camp is beyond me. We don't hack or cheat - i even have a custom cheat detection and battleeye custom scripts, i bet my cheat detection is better than official right now. You can't just spawn shit in, the server will delete it, it requires alot of database edits and unique id's to even get things to appear. As for the base you might find, it is done in the editor and one simply does not spawn it in. As for the video, that was really old.... just showcasing possiblities when private stuff was released. You got banned because we can, you are all pissed you spent hours and got banned, it was only a temp ban till 7pm tonight to let you cool off, but you won't be unbanned now. Everything we do in game is legit - otherwise we wouldn't run BE, wouldn't code and maintain custom cheat detections, wouldn't spend money renting a dedicated box and wouldn't spend time or effort playing it. Yeah we got a base so what, you jelly bro? you can visit our website dayzmodded.co.uk and complain there - or hide behind the moderators here, like everyone does. lmao.

    Atmosphere in DayZ

    I bought DayZ a week ago and so far I've adored the game. From it's free roaming and scavenging to its KOS'ing bastardized community. This isn't meant to be an OP thread, complaint thread, or anything or the sort. This is just a community based thread to kinda see how people would react, or even just to get some ideas. Now as I said, I adore DayZ for what it is. Sure it has more problems than an algebra book, but there's some charm in that. The one thing that DOES get me in this game more than most others is the atmosphere. The oppressing loneliness when you're running along the shore. The deafening silence when you're in the woods. Flare lighting at night, the "ghost behind you" feeling you get in the dead of night. For all DayZ has wrong with it there are a ton of things it's doing right. I won't go into PvP, PvE, Looting and the like, this thread is all about atmosphere. Now, considering all that I do like about this...I can't help but feel, even if it's "alpha", there's a lot of missed opportunity here. I'll give a few examples. The first point I'd like to make while trying to avoid the talk of pvp and the likes; in terms of atmosphere, NVG and Thermal break immersion. Being forced to run in the dead of night, unable to see anything with only flares, flashlights and glow sticks to illuminate your path? Imagine running through a town, only a handful of glow sticks to light your way through the darkened zombie infested settlement. The nighttime flare animations hitting a tree line or building are beautiful and haunting. Honestly if you haven't, get a thing of roadflares, run to a forest/field area and throw one in the forest and in the fields. The lighting effects are beautiful, but noone has the chance to use them due to infinate thermal/night vision. Even flashlights with their directional lighting adds a lot to this game. Even keeping the NVG/Thermal IF you had to constantly power it with super rare batteries would be fine. Another point that bugs me is the audio. Zombies sound rather....bland, there's no creepiness to the audio. The way they move is fine, honestly when they glitch I'm not upset, the jerking and shaking just makes them look more terrifying. Back to the sound however, the zombies have some wierd... nasally sound. There's no projection to the screams, heaves, and grunting. It may just be me nitpicking but as I said, it seems nasally and forced. One huge thing that bugs me, and I mean HUGE...the lack of community input for the game. This one is a lot more broad, I'm not talking about weapons, vehicles, and the like. What I'm talking about is we have an extremely creative community overall, a "mod" that only grows with player support, and the game draws a lot of RP'rs into the community. There are tons of creative minds in this forums and they could be put to use. One of the things I'd like to use as an example is "Green Mountain". The entire "lore" of that mountain made by the community if phenomenal. The thought of something that's "Neither survivor, bandit, nor Zed" keeping watch and guarding that area is amazing. Keep in mind I'm not asking something put in the game like zombie bosses, or even let's say physical ghosts to see. What I'm saying is this in basic terms: You run up to Green Mountain which opens a 3 part path 1a: Zombies Spawn as normal, nothing happens (90% trigger) 1b: Nothing spawns and as you pass through the game, all ambient noises disappear. No more wind/birds/ect. Just your footsteps, breath, and add ambient heartbeat.(5%) 1c: Nothing spawns and your vision goes black and white as you're forced into first person mode and your character view starts shaking. (5%) 2a: Nothing - normal shit. 2b: As you get near the radio tower faint growling sounds echo around you. No discernible direction. 2c: As your vision sways and shakes your breathing gets heavier. If you look in certain areas you might see let's say an "apparition" for lack of better term. Basically you would see a "figure" but since you couldn't focus your sight as soon as you turned back to see it, boom, it's gone. 3a: Again, still nothing 3b: Growling gets louder and more ferocious until you leave the area, even then it follows you for a little bit. 3c: Eventually your vision returns to normal (lets say after 5 seconds) This is the kinda thing i'm talking about. Those would be simple triggers that you could complete with already implemented tools in the game. While the "C" path may effect gameplay, you could easily do "B" path with no issues. Christ, you could even add the radio item, go to certain spots to have creepy audio. Again, using green mountain as an example: I like the game and this thread is all but guaranteed to be ignored by "Rocket", but at least in the community I'm sure there's a few people who can/would be interested in this kind of thing. Sorry for a bit of a rant, but yeah...I'd just like to see something ACTUALLY happen with this game and I feel atmosphere could be this game's strongest card.

    Vehicle Spawns

    I would rather find a rare hidden vehicle and steal it from a player, or kill another player for a vehicle, then just always have the option of building a vehicle, we need recourses to fight over, and vehicles at the moment are the best thing we got. Rather than build a vehicle based on PVE, find a vehicle hidden by a player, or kill a player for it, or hell, set up a trade with them, vehicles should be aquired through PVP not PVE in my honest opinion. Just to add I am not againts a surplus of bikes that remove the insane amount of running, but vehicles should be rare as shit and limited on the map.

    Vehicle Spawns

    This would in no way discourage the hoarding of vehicles, are you saying you would not hide avehicle that you spent hours gathering the equipment to make? or that you would not make more vehicles to have at your camp to store goods and just for the sake of having a large range of vehicles to distribute to new people joining yer team? This would make it so that vehicles are super easy to aquire, making them less valuable, in turn giving less incentive to seek them and steal them from other players, making human interaction less, not more. Leave vehicles rare so we have something to fight over and hunt for.

  6. So it is possible that our vehicles respawned as well? Lost quite a few ones in different locations and considered theft the most reasonable answer. Maybe there still is hope. :)

    First impressions

    too hard with extremely sewere consequences. One small mistake and you loose hours of accumulate rewards. Funny, I think it is abit too easy, although I remember my first 3-4 lives, God I was bad. Very rarely any feeling of triumph (at all) Huh, I guess you have never turned the table on somebody who shot first. Never found NVGs, haven't set up a base with vehicles. Instead of “+100 headshot points” you actually have to work for it and do something worth noting. Really unprecise controls ?? Lack of auto-aim? Or bad wording? The controls are pretty precise, you press D, you move right, you move the mouse...your aim moves. Everything Is just normal ....with extremely severe consequences - which is fine if the in-game possiblities match the challenges. They don't: unrealistic in a bad way - why can't I use a hunting knife or my bare fists to fight zombies? have they grown fangs when they became zombie? lack of melee-weapons: I'm sitting at a laptop now: used right I can kill people with it. Why can't I beat the zombies with 2x4? branches? the big hatchets in the chopping blocks? every household has a kitchen; what about the butchers knife in there? Because Soldiers prefer using a 2x4 over a M4.......This is due to being a Mod in alpha on a milsim engine and something you can expect to be fixed in a standlone. So far a Axe and Crowbar has been hacked in. More than enough. (Do your research) Bad affordance: you can't see which houses you can loot and which you can. Again, learn the difference between DayZ the Mod and Arma the game...This is a limit of Arma (do your research) Controls are very different from other shooters (Counterstrike, Team Fortress, Battlefield) and way to complicated for this game. Shave them down. Learn to open your controls settings, and set up to your liking?? or are you are a console gamer? How come a whole colonne of dead soldier doesn't have any weapons on them? did the zombies take them? seriously? Fair point, and one that has been made 15 times before. Extremely little chance of escaping zombies once you are detected - essentially: detected = dead. Trololo, losing zombies is extremely easy, run through buildings...run up hills, run up on rocks...run through a fucking pine tree...Easy peasy, learn the mechanics before you bitch, please. Really really annoying with the grey screen when you are hurt. And this is because: in a proper version, you will not have a debug monitor or little icons to tell you if you are hurt...it is all done with ingame cues In conclusion: You are a newbie, who don't know the engine nor the mod. If you had actually taken the time to research or play it

    Just came to me...

    A dinosaur Sanbox survival game would be good, but not on this map and with these conditions. The map isnt really great for that sort of thing, i,e, not enough foilage, not enough big urban areas etc. You would need more enterable buildings i think and more vehicles as the dinos would be very very fast! Also the weapons would need more consideration.

    Random Skill Sets

    I like the skill tree idea but not in the way your propose. My Idea... Engineer - Easier to drive vehicles, ability to fix vehicles, ability to store more engineer type equipment in bag, ability to store more in cars, etc Hunter - ability to run faster, ability to run longer, ability to create fire, gut animals, cook meat, increased damage for crossbow, ability to go longer without food/water, etc Soldier - damage increase (each talent for each weapon), hp increase, accuracy increase, etc Medic - ability to give transfusions, faster bandanging, faster medical anything, ability to give transfusion to self, etc To unlock each talent would require a set number of points. Ex. 250 zombie kills would equal one point in which you could unlock or upgrade a talent. Also it would be a talent tree system. Meaning 1 unlocks 4 and 5. While 2 unlocks 3. All talents reset upon death. I don't mean to undermine your thread. This is just my idea. You some good ideas too. I think adding this element would mean for more cooperation. In real life if a party member needed attention you couldn't just give him blood. You would probably have to find a doctor.
  10. ... And here the discussion may start. I know, I know, "get out there and find your own Sniper you prick!" but let me explain... First, there was the Idea to raid NWAF, SEAF, NEAF, Mili-Camps in Stary, Mili-Camps in Cherno, Deerstands, finding helicopter crash sites... the usual stuff as you may know... and here comes the problems: We have been playing for 3 weeks now, found in 3 weeks of every-day-i-am-gambling style, solo and togehter, exactly only three helo sites, all raided, not even a FN FAL was there anymore... We have been on so many servers, have died while searching for the sites and we (i should explain: we, that means a three man survivor squad who DO NOT kill people on sight and just try to play the game seriously...) are a bit depressed about the fact, that there are so many empty spawn points. I mean, three weeks, running all over the map, finding only three helo's in consecutive search, that is somehow unfair... The Barracks housed some solid M4A3 CCO's but no sniper was found, the mili camps housed some solid M16A2's and AK74-Cobra's but no Sniper was found. The Mili-Camps in Cherno housed some MP5's but no snipers. I am getting a bit desperate because I am used to sniping in ArmA 2 and i am pretty good so I was initially assigned squad sniper and saviour from bandit attacks but I dont even happen to find a god damn CZ550 wherever I go. I know, many of you might say "well, bad luck" or "stop complaining, it's the game" but for me it is very depressing to start into a new day, searching the whole map and not finding ANY sniper. I dont want an AS50 or M107 instantly, all I want is a DMR or something, something I can work with, but all I find are AR's and flares as it seems. Even the damn deerstands didn't spawn any and somehow I get the feeling DayZ wants to troll me with that. I dont have much at the moment, because I died recently but if there is anybody out here in the Survivor HQ who has a good soul and could hook me up with a Sniper I would hand everything i found later on gladly right over to you.... You know, I know this might sound like a set up for an ambush, I am not dumb myself, so if anybody wants to take the risk hit me up for Skype or Steam and you can get to know me better before giving it a go. I ENSURE YOU I WONT DO ANYTHING STUPID you just need to understand: I long for a sniper and wherever I go, there does not spawn any -.- I wont be mad if there is nobody who wants to do it, i wont even be mad for bad comments and calling me names because I can think of how this all looks like... I am just asking and I know a lot of you guys have camps, tents or vehicles stuffed with cool stuff ;) I just want to find a good survivor, maybe we can even play together if you like me, in that way i can repay the favour later...

    Random Skill Sets

    OK, with the news that choppers are on the way back, it got me thinking. In real life I only know two of my mates who can fly a chopper, I know two that can properly set a broken bone and one guy that could refit an engine in a car or truck. I don't know anyone that could butcher an animal for food and I know I couldn't run for 15 miles without stopping :D So, how about introducing completely random skill sets for each character. At each spawn, a RNG would allocate skill points to certain skills, allowing you to do some things and not others: Pilot Skill - Allows you to fly helicopters Mechanic Skill - Allows you to carry out advanced repairs to vehicles (everyone should still be able to change a tyre) Medic Skill - Allows you to permanently fix broken bones and carry out blood transfusions - morphine would only be a temporary fix for a fracture. Hunter - Allows you to get more meat from a butchered animal and allows you to move with less noise Athlete - Allows you to run faster and longer for your current water/food level Weapon Specialist - allows you to recombine ammo Soldier - damage increase (each talent for each weapon), hp increase, accuracy increase, etc (RapturJesus) Now, not only would this stop every single person on the server from running to get a chopper and kill everyone in the way, but it would also enhance team work and make you think twice before shooting a survivor - what if he is a medic and you need blood? You could be low on ammo and he could be a Weapons Specialist and sort you out. Skills would reset only on death, not on respawn, so no-one could continually try to break bones to respawn and get the coveted chopper pilot skill, and would be truly random, hell you may end up with all of them or none, just like people in real life. Could add another layer to an already deep and rich game, what do you think? Any other classes/restrictions that could be added?
  13. Most of our vehicles are back today, missing 1 ATV which was probably stolen. Grats to the guy/s that killed us as we were leaving a bus, we found out it was a magic bus that respawned tires and ended up getting delayed by a minute or two, those minutes proved fatal. My only question is how did you spot my friend when he was prone behind several trees, using the side glances to keep track of him?

    Barb Wire & Vehicles

    Seen the same issue with fortification emplacements, they just respawn every time the server restarts regardless of how many times you take them down. This is especially problematic in the large southern towns where people will put out cat and sandbags in critical buildings to try to keep others out while they're there, but it unfortunately keeps most people coming off the coast out of the building for the rest of time, or until removed emplacements don't respawn on server restart. The pile of vehicles outside the map is likely due to someone driving them out there and blowing them up, anything outside the map borders should technically disappear after a bit, as people were setting up camps well outside the map boundries back before May and anything set up out there should be disappearing within a day.
  15. Lowered my video options to gain some fps, from 15 to 30, and this was one of the effects. Easy to spot tents, vehicles and players in a forest, no fun in my opinion..

    Layered goals

    First of all, this game is awesome. Second, I think this game can be brought to a whole another level. Third, I suck at English. The game is all about survival. And that's what it is, people trying to survive in a desolate landscape. But after a while people learn to survive, they thrive, there is no real fear of dying other than bandits or plain bad luck. There is not much of an end-game now, other than what people create themselves. They start hoarding loads of guns in trucks and driving through the map. Tent HQ's containing ridiculous amounts of loot. The thing is, towards end-game, people enjoy the game more when they are together in a group than alone. And I think this might be a huge oppertunity for this game. One of the biggest flaws in the game is "shoot on sight". People have nothing to lose by killing others when the goal is to survive. What if end-game is a greater survival? Survival of a group? Of a (starting) community? Imagine a big piece of map that's just scorched earth. It's HUGE. There is nothing to find even the zeds don't bother coming here. You can't get through it unless you are with a group or otherwise loaded with gear and reserves. It's really hard to survive in this territory. Most people die passing through it actually. What awaits us in this desert? Underground bases. Lots of them. And you can take them. You can take a base and fortify it. What's fun about that? You have huge space, to store loot, to store vehicles. You could play PvP in some kind of arena, but you don't die. In the arena PvP is a non-lethal game. Pretty much anything can be done in this context. And... You can loot other peoples bases! A small group wouldn't be able to sustain a base (base is unprotected when you are offline). So a large group can keep people online pretty much around the clock. It gives a new challenge. For once it's lucrative to help people, to invite them to your base. Loot other bases, find new survivors who join you in this next level of end game. Well, I know it's not a finished idea. It's a brainfart which points in a general direction I'd like the game to go. It has so much potential to be different. To be a new experience. I think i'm in love. Edit: One could also think about tradehouses, shops, bounty hunters, shooting ranges, campfires for chat, lockers where you can put your stuff in, in case of dying (but can be stolen if base gets raided).
  18. click on this link : http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vehicles it contains a full list of vehicles in dayz with all the info about every vehicle, that means general inventory slots (beans/mags/drink etc) weapon slots, backpack slots and number of seats, and what you need parts you need to repair it. it also tells you where the vehicle normaly spawns, this usually don't mean shit since clans and other groups have most likely repaired this vehicle and moved it outside the map. hope this helps someone :)

    Barb Wire & Vehicles

    Is there currently an issue right now with the Wire Fencing or any fortification items as of right now that prevents them from being removed permanently? I am asking cause on my server most areas are littered with this crap and it is glitched into walls and floor preventing anyone from entering the buildings. I have removed it, but every server restart it just respawns. What is the best way to deal with it for now? Also, is there a problem with vehicles being respawned? I found a massive pile up of half destroyed vehicles out side of the map, and figured it to be the graveyard, but those vehicles there do no repsawn in any other location. They just sit outside of the map for 2 weeks now. Is there something I am missing some where? I had figured it is a hive issue, but I am unsure. Any help on these 2 matters would be greatly appreciated.

  22. The one thing I hope for is that factions will be made and will be consistent throughout servers. Factions will create goals, and goals will clash with other faction's goals. They will create their own stories, but each faction will also have their own goals, which you can chose to pursue or not. If Rocket needs a writer, I am up for it (I have experience writing screenplays and short stories); goals need to be minimally intrusive and be designed in multiple stages + branched objectives. I imagine you can join a faction according to your current gear. So, only a guy who has military equipment will be able to join a military squad. Ranks among a faction will be distributed according to days survived+zombie kills. The highest ranked official of a faction may enlist 2 bodyguards.The military will shoot down anything and be ruthless like the bandits, but they also have missions, e.g. to establish a sattelite link to restore communications or reactivate an overseer drone and scout an area. Every faction would have unique goals and can chose to play them out or to make up their own goals. some faction ideas: military - players with military gear can join military goals: long term objectives, multiple stages --- bandits - players who kill 5 or more surviors can join bandit goals - bandits have 0 objectives, except to cause havoc + set up camps --- survivor - anyone can join survivor goals: survivors have short time/single objectives and low tier "rewards" --- medics - anyone with a stock of at least 5 medic supplies can join medic goals - short term, long term (reinforce health care in the north) --- traders - traders can be joined by anyone with an alice pack or larger trader goals: long term goals, mid term goals, diplomatic goals (secure help of other groups to establish trade posts) --- postman - anyone with a vehicle can join postman goals - short term goals (supply information between factions, deliver messages, provide transport) --- later addition (one of many possible ones): engineers - engineers have a toolbag (needs to be repurposed a bit and made more rare) engineer goals - engineers can build vehicles from parts and mod existing vehicles --- Factions could be chosen at given locales, e.g. if you want to join military - at military camps, if you want to join regular survivor, at bars, if you want to join meds at hospitals, traders at shops, postman at gas stations, etc. You would think twice before killing any of the higher tier groups, because they may be able to help you and your faction more when they are alive. I imagine goals of the factions to be interlinked, so you will require , e.g. a postman to help you out at some point of a (particular) mission. Of course, there will still be a lot of shooting among the low tier factions, but I think higher tier players will be less frequently found in spawn areas than now. There will even be occasional kills among the same faction and groups within a faction will clash over the same objective. Some missions could include betrayal to reach a goal faster and make it your choice how you want to play it out, from a moral standpoint. It will be much the same like when we are clashing over goods in a supermarket now, but there will be something more than just the looting to it. Every decision you make may benefit your group or it may degrade it. It may happen that someone plots against their leadership and takes over the senior role for himself. It may be that a group splits and assumed a new leader and they decide to fight a different fight.     How do vehicle spawns work?

    No vehicle spawns in locations where they are supposed to spawn. Vehicles spawns woth some parts fixed up but most of the time missing the engine. They don't respawn after a restart though

    All the shit went down just after I logged off it seems. An utter disgrace that these cheating wankers actually had to shut down the server to prevent one of their own from dying. Spawning in vehicles, Alt F4ing and shutting off the server to prevent item loss are enough to get this server taken down for good. And there is PLENTY of video proof to back all the claims as well as the testimonies of 800+ viewers of the stream last night.
