As it is right now the player kills are mixed in with the zombie kills in the scoreboard on the server. What I am suggesting is making them separate, sort of like in ARMA where you have a separate kill for vehicles, airplanes and infantry.

M24 because of its looks, and you can bring your as50 in the backpack for when you see clan vehicles :)
-
I use an AS50. Quiet, powerful, fast, and accurate. Also because I loved destroying vehicles in one hit.

Saving tents and vehicle issues

happened to our vehicles/tents on our server after a restart. Not sure if they are still there. Maybe we should check. Needs to get fixed though. -
Saving tents and vehicle issues
MihalopouloZ replied to LoG Steppenwolf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We lost also tents and Vehicles.. The problem still exists ... -
My group has massive problems with saving tents and vehicles. After a server restart, they always disappear, lose their gear or reappear 3 respawns later. We had 7 vehicles and now we are on 0. But maybe after the next restart we might have 5 again who knows^^ The question is now, is this a serverside issue or is it a global problem? We tried many different methods of saving, but none worked proper. So has anyone some informations about this?

I have some suggestions to make for increasing stealth in the game. 1) When you use the binoculars , you and the player close to you hears three steps. Its kind a weird thing when someone takes out his binoculars to make such a noise. 2) When you hide a Vehicle or a tent inside the woods , you think that you hide them well, but when you move 100-200 metres away or more and look back , the tents and the vehicles is like a beacon inside the woods. Grass and tree branches just dissapears . (i know there is a graphical option for this, but what rocket can do about this...) Fog, rain and night sometimes helps, but in a normal day you can see them clearly. 3) When you join a server and screen is on ''setup completed'' in a black screen, the character is already in the game for some seconds completely visable and of course an easy target cause he is still in a black screen... Also if i left my character prone the last time i played, when he logs on again he is stand up and prones later with a result of been seen + the noise he makes when he is proning again (i died two times cause of this, even in the woods) 4) If i am proning and need to open the inventory and pick a gun from the backpack the player goes on crouch and his cover ends. He should be able to do this on prone.

Fuck yes they're bros I was given a URAL, and 3 helicopters + teleported to the dome. Except since everyone on the server was on the ts.gonna.hate teamspeak we all just banded together filling URAL's with gear from the ThunderDome and putting them in camps. Then the hacker sent us a map with all the current vehicle locations on it, making it extremely easy to fly a Huey over and destroy all the vehicles in the hoarders camps. If you log onto US 1033 now the Thunder Dome is still at the NWAF and 90% of the players are friendly.

Server-side Hotfix 0.7.2, Helicopter status and server info
SHOWTIME! replied to Vipeax's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Don't worry bro, if you don't get their loot/vehicles, I'm sure mother nature will. Of course, by that i mean a server restart or patch update. Hoarder tears taste so sweet! -

Lumberjack (DayZ) replied to Bambi (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I lose count of the stuff we have lost, the vehicles the camps etc etc the deaths by bugs hackers and legitimate players. Even been at our camp storing stuff when one of the team got sniped, we hunted for that player/s for 15 minute and another team mate went down, I nearly went down after they got behind me, it was only my good fortune that my teammate happened to chance upon them sneaking up on me. It felt really suspicious like they had esp, but they could of just outplayed us, and if we all died we,d accept the lose of our gear. And if we was 100%!it was hacker we,d try and identify this player and not shut the server down right away to save our shit as there are other players in the game. That's camp was crazy so many vehicles in one place and dozens of tents, face it it will be found you will lose it, and when I am back I,m going to hunt them down :) -
DE10 - Server Thread <(^-^<) <(^-^)> (>^-^)>
Trowa replied to caspar's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
11am restart hit, I've confirmed that all vehicles will be missing untill 5pm so don't waste your time searching for helicopters untill the next server restart. Edit: 5pm restart and all the vehicles are back, let the helicopter race begin. Terrible server lag, barely playable with a friend. Hey Andrej you wouldn't know anything about this would you? http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/578962749305790637/4FBBC95F38A2C0D30BCA44B5563530A35DFCC37C/ :D -
Is it safe to updated to 1.7.2.4 yet?
maxamillion12345 replied to davidecibel's topic in New Player Discussion
You will have to update to the latest patch because they want all the servers updated within the next day or so because they will not allow heli spawns to commence until all the servers have. Vipeax Posted 27 July 2012 - 09:02 PM Hey everyone, many of the changes in 1.7.2.4 include changes in the way the game communicates with the Hive. These changes require every server to be running the latest version of both the mod & the Hive component, run with BattlEye enabled, as well as a recent beta build (>= 95389). To make sure every server is in sync with the recent developments, we are required to disable older versions of the Hive extension from being functional in the near future, which, at this point, is estimated to occure in about 36 hours from the creation of this thread (subject to change). Tomorrow morning there will be a final wording regarding this subject. The re-introduction of Helicopters is directly affiliated to this change and thus they will not be functional till previous versions of both DayZ as well as the Hive component have deflated, as the changes of the recent patch are mandatory to make them functional. Further testing also showed a small bug in the Hive component, for which we will be releasing a second update for on the server side (0.7.2), which has been made available in the regular distrubtion areas for hosters. Changelog: * [FIXED] Vehicles with ID's above 1 million didn't syncronize. * [FIXED] First object in the database not being loaded. Again I'd like to remind all hosters that running a build that is >= 95389 is required, BattlEye has to be enabled for your server to be fully functional and it is very import that you update your Hive component to the latest version within the next 36 hours. This was posted in this thread -------> http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/48598-server-side-hotfix-072-helicopter-status-and-server-info/ It means you will have to update today I think. Also the graphical glitch can be fixed by holding shift double tapping the minus on the numpad twice then typing flush. It doesn't always work and it doesn't work for all players but it has removed the glitch temporarily for me. -
Basically if you own a server or are in a clan who owns a server, hoarding of vehicles/best weapons is extremely easy and you can use the latter on other servers, tooling up, and not facing any serious consequences when dead since you can go back to ur server and tool up again (after ur bro picks your ass up in a helicopter from the coast.) Meanwhile for the vast vast majority of players the game is like this -- > Run, Loot shitty stuff, Run, Die, Repeat. All operations are inherently risky, even the operations of getting shitty loot and trying to run out the area immediately to the forest. Have to be honest that even I am starting to tire of running expressly up and down the coast to meet friends.. theres no vehicles of course. It's working as the game intended because i am frustrated with it i guess

Fix this deathmatch junk
Baka Survivor replied to =ATS= Striker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hoards of gear allows you to engage in high risk operations without catastrophic repercussion. For different player types it means different things. For a friendly player it means he can afford to be more friendly, to try his luck more with unknown people. For douchebag it means he can afford to make suicide runs griefing others. For clans it means they can do whatever the hell they want, usually farm high-risk/high-value loot and drive around in vehicles hunting survivors for some PvP-action. -
What I learned from Dayz
Mrs_Murder replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My encounters with cheaters over the course of 1 week: My hubbie and I spent some days getting used to the game and learning the mechanics. When we finally got ourselves a bit geared up (with low-end gear) and started heading towards the wilderness, we suddenly heard explosions and saw bright white lights all over the place. We both died. I respawned to retrieve my gear (such a newbie mistake), but all of the sudden -- in the middle of nowhere, while simply sneaking -- my leg breaks. Followed by a shot to the head. We respawn and gear up again. This takes hours, if not a whole day. We get to a small city, and ERHMERHGERHD we found a freakin' motorcycle!! We drive to another city, my hubbie gets out to check it out, I stay on the passenger seat. Then I get teleported. I see a man in a guille suit, surrounded by vehicles, aiming at me: (Player tags would be nice...) He seemed to be as surprised as I was, as he didn't shoot me right away. But then he did, I tried to drive off, he shot me some more and I died. Since I was teleported I had NO idea where I was. So I respawn and gear up again! My hubbie logged out, and when he logged back in he was in the debug world. Respawn again! This time everything went smooooooooooooth. We survived for 2-3 IRL days. We raided every city we went to; I got over 130 infected kills without dying. We had auto injectors, so even if the infected broke our legs (which they seem to do quite often these days) we could still keep on truckin'. We had alice packs, so much meat, so many bandages, so many beans, pepsis and waterbottles. A compass, maps, a freakin entrenching tool, so much ammo and weapons we couldn't carry it all, a tent stuffed with goodies, etc etc. We even found two bikes! We were RIGGED. Ready to head to airfield and get sniped by honest players (after we defeated hordes of super-fast spawning infected who broke our legs 3 times) We come across a deer stand, my hubbie climbs up (finds phat loot) but manages to break his leg somehow. He was also sick, and we didn't have any auto injectors left (because, lol, our legs were broken 3 times by infected!). We were discussing what to do, no infected anywhere, in the middle of a forest, I was crouched, not even moving. Then CRACK. My leg broke. Then BOOM. A shot to the head. Yes, the boom came after the crack. No one shot my leg. No one. He broke it by the press of a button. -
Fix this deathmatch junk
Baka Survivor replied to =ATS= Striker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I´ve been thinking about this and actually its a double edged sword. Yes, hoarding weapons in tents and vehicles makes permadeath inconsequential and encourages carefree deathmatch mentality. But also, if you haven´t got a back-up gear and have gotten yourself a decently geared character through a lot of work, it makes you paranoid and cautious, because you don´t want to lose it all to some PvP-douchebag kid. Hence you shoot everybody on sight. I don´t have back-up gear in tents, so I don´t trust anybody for fear of having to start over. But if I had back-up gear, maybe I actually might take more risks in trying to be friendly, knowing that i likely would get shot. I think overall this deathmatch bs going on is largely an age thing, Dayz being popular with run-and-gun FPS culture kids, more mature players usually seem to go for more co-op and rpg style. When the kids get bored and move on to the next flavour of the month, things may change. -
So, here is my complaint with the server. A) The Host or admins, etc, Shutdown the server when the last member goes to bed. Direct Quote from the server Host: evidence. Info on the server can be found here. http://dayzmod.com/f...the-apocalypse/ Rules in Violation 1) Now, before I get into the first one I'd like to submit that I have never witnessed them actually locking the server. However, I submit this as a violation because Locking and shutting down the server are really not at all different. Why? Because they both keep people out and Both determine who can and who cannot play. By this i mean the server will only be online when one of the so called "MEMBERS" wants to play. http://dayzmod.com/f...r-read-in-here/2) Rockets "Persistent World" (directly quoted by rocket and hes has called it a persistent world in many videos/interviews) http://www.armaholic...ge.php?id=16612 What is a persistent world? A persistent world (PW) is a virtual world that continues to exist even after a user exits the world and that user-made changes to its state are, to some extent, permanent. The term is frequently used in the definition of the MMORPG's and can be considered synonymous with that class of games. The persistence comes from maintaining and developing a single or dynamic instance state of the world in the game around the clock shared and viewed by all players. Quite unlike other types of games. the plot and events in a single permainstance world game continue to develop even while some of the players are not playing their characters. That aspect is similar to the real world where events do occur regardless if they are directly or indirectly related to a person, as they continue to happen while a person is asleep, etc. Conversely, a player's character can also influence and change a persistent world. The degree to which a character affects a world varies from game to game. Since the game does not pause or create player-accessible back-up files, a character's actions will have consequences that the player must deal with. http://en.wikipedia....ersistent_world Further, Lets look at some key words and relate them to the issues with US 1038 shutting down their server when their "MEMBERS" go to bed from the Persistent world POV. Argument: The Persistent world continues to develop even when some of the players are not playing their characters further, events continue to occur while a person is "ASLEEP" Now, some of you will argue well, hey you can just go onto another server and continue where you left off. Yes, You're correct. That I could do however, I like many others have supplies, vehicles, friends, etc who play on US 1038. And to me Shutting down the server takes away the Persistent world feeling as well as its no different than them "LOCKING" the server. They are in direct control of when I can and When I cannot play on their server. Clearly, Rocket never intended this and if you look at the opening quote, server hosts have "NO" special privileges other than the ability to follow the DAYZ rules and kick/ban users within violation of the DAYZ rules.

I'd love an "unscrew" command on pretty much every vehicle, they seem to explode/flip at any given chance. For now I'm afraid we can only drive "safely" with ATV's, whenever I'm riding one I usually slow down when approaching bumps or going offroad. Seeing as finding another vehicle to flip said ATV over if it landed on the back is next to impossible we can only hope for a "flip vehicle" function to be implemented. All that being said, flipped vehicles will be upright again if the server restarts. Save the vehicle, mark the spot and check back later.

What was your most annoying/worst death in DayZ?

ARMA 2 Real Life Hiking Simulator
Baka Survivor replied to Jourmand1r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I know dyslexia is usually comorbid with ADHD, but if you would have actually read and understood my post you would have noticed I never said roaming around the map requires special skills or makes the game hard. I said you are supposed to work a little extra for your gear, not have it handed to you immediately. Yes, it usually means travelling long distances too. Often without vehicles. It takes planning and patience. It takes time. Thats one reason why permadeath has a meaning in this mod, its supposed to be tedious to get started again. Why am I not suprised that you suggest a deathmatch with me, and I even have to give a gun for you, lol. -
How difficult is it to set a security clearance level on the ability to change the content of the game? If admin = false then LOLBAN when attempting to change the content? Or a file check that actually checks the files? Or removing nukes and jets from the files? Or setting the damage to 0? If the cheaters were "just" using aimbot, wallhack or nospread we could at least avoid them. After gaming for 15 years I have accepted that cheaters are everywhere. Even in games like Super Monday Night Combat, with its >2000 regular players, there are cheaters. But nothing like this. This level of cheating is gamebreaking. It is ridiculous. Yes, the boom came after the crack. No one shot my leg. No one. He broke it by the press of a button. THIS is ridiculous. How the hell can they have access to changing the game files?! HOW?! So now I've rented my own server (I've run a Battlefield Heroes before, simply to get better control over cheaters). I have no idea what to do when a cheater pops up on my server, but I suppose banning the only person left alive on the server is a good start. This makes the game unplayable. Surviving with infected and bandits roaming around is difficult enough as it is, and just as things start going well -- the second you think "WOW, this is going well!" -- a cheater will kill you. It's just a matter of time. I do not understand how it is physically possible for them to SPAWN items and teleport people. Aimbot is one thing; modding the actual content and having developer-level controls is ridiculous. How the fuck does this happen? How the fuck is there NOT a security level on changing the game content? There should only be a handful of people able to change the content, on private servers. This is GameMaster level of controls. Bad coding or bad BattlEye?

WTF I thought this was a survival game?
Gadget (DayZ) replied to kragz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I know what you mean! Initially the game attracts people who want to just survive, explore, trying get vehicles working with friends etc. Ultimately the players in the game are your biggest concern. Basically trust no one, kill on site. I used to want to help people but after 20 or so hostile encounters Ive joined the rest and kill on site, which is a good thing or I would have died several times now instead of managing to survive against the odds. The best thing to do is loot smaller villages, try and stay out of the main towns and airfields, play on servers with < 10 people, check all directions and try and avoid players. If you see a player and they've not spottted you, either avoid them or kill them - if you avoid them and fire at zombies 5 minutes later its likely that player you let go will kill you when you arent looking. Trust no one, appart from friends you met prior to DayZ. Oh, and welcome to the mindless abuse you will get on these forums ;) There's plenty of trolls here just waiting to reply to new posts - don't let them bother you. -

yea its real courteous to kick people without warning so incase they were driving they can't save there vehicles and it takes 5 people to check to see if it updated? SEEMS LEGIT -
All the vehicles on my home server reset to their spawn points whenever the server restarts, even if we've spammed "save" on the vehicle. Is there some way to prevent this from happening? It's frustrating spending an entire day building a fleet of 5-6 vehicles complete with backup parts, only to have them wiped.
