If you belong to a clan, or have been playing this game for a while, you're probably pretty good at it. You likely have neat gadgets like M4's, NVG, and who knows what kind of vehicles. What else is there to do? Dayz has no ultimate goal, nothing to stay fighting for. Right now, the technical "goal" is to survive, but for an apocalypse, it seems a little easy to just stay alive. I'm sure Rocket and his buddies are working on a few now, but there should be more detail to the survival element of the game. I'm referring to a variety of ways to do things like eat or drink. In stead of just beans and steak, have wild barriers and apple trees. meat will be a luxury, and usually only found through hunting wild animals. and I mean real hunting, not running up to a boar and hitting it with a hatchet :| . Maybe you risk getting sick if you drink lake water, but it's safe when you boil it (over a fire). Rain is another way to obtain water, because let's face it, pop and canteens are very basic, as well as just beans and meat. We need Dayz to be about something to reach for. "Something" can be anything from Reaching the top of the leader boards, to finding a cure for the disease (which is just something of the top of my head). Also, leader boards need to be changed. Right now they're based off of zombie kills, it should be based off of who is alive the longest. The leader boards should also have top three longest lived survivors on that server (kind of like top score sort of thing). Make the leader boards more desirable, and prominent. If there ever is a goal that "wins the game", (which there probably won't be) make it so difficult to accomplish that nearly half the people in the server would need to work together to do it. Right now, it's too easy. The reason I made this topic is because I'm sitting at my camp with everything I could want and I'm thinking "what now". Ideas? feed back?

I wouldn't bother getting high and mighty, gear is fairly meaningless in this game. You've got the stuff, you didn't cheat and it's all legitimate Dayz items. You'll most likely lose it at some point so there's no worries in stressing. Hacked-in vehicles do not save to servers AFAIK -
LOL you dishonest piece of shit. You kick people from the server when they kill you and drive off in the vehicles you had or you see them driving and kick them to take vehicles. I've personally witnessed this on several occasions, and was even kicked when I was driving away from gunfire in my yellow hatchback only to log back in and not see my vehicle anywhere. You abuse global chat channels to taunt and talk trash. You had your server locked for hours upon hours upon hours with nobody but you and your group on the server. Just shut the fuck up and find a tall building.

Actually there is a way i could spot the Cars ... I wasnt there for your camp but for the Huey ...and i thought someone might have parked it there but instead i found your camp lol Your camp wasnt very well hidden because its a common spot for camps? ... Yeah the cars were on the backside of the mountain and i was actually there ... how do you think we found your camp then?!..wtf ... we were actually 3 when we attacked your camp for the first time and we came back and yes we were 4 ...you had 6 vehicles (you still have an ATV i guess) and we couldnt take them all at once ... i liked the way you responded ...and we already came at you bro ... thats what this discussion is about lol -
First off, there is a lot to do in the way of PvP, from stalking players and having them lead you back to their camp, to defending your own; fighting over territory, vehicles, and loot. There is a huge "game of thrones" being played in that regard on many servers, usually until the losing side breaks and changes servers. It's pretty fucking exciting. But you're right, as a PvE player, there's nothing to do once you're kitted out. You can't make a player city, or secure one of the actual cities from zombies and "take it back," or craft in-game items (with perma-death, you'd get a lot of players skilling up just one skill and trading their product with others), etc. But I think rocket is working on those facets as we speak (starting with base building), so your argument is really moot in that regard. Obviously the game's still in development. Regarding "friendly" play, it's your fault. You're too stupid to figure out how to approach a stranger, simply put. You've probably never even had overwatch as you wander through a city like an idiot. But you're right, you can't just wander up to some random with a gun and go "HI THERE IM FRIENDLY, U?"

Hey Guys, My name is Ripper X, I do videos once in a while for Machinima and also MMORPG.com. As of late myself and a bunch of buddies have been hooked on DayZ, and being a gamer since the good ole days, must say DayZ is the best mod to come along since Counter-Strike and TFC. That said, we did buy a server and are having a load of fun in it. People are finding vehicles and stories of epicness are starting to begin. If you would like to join us, our server is US 1374. Seems as of late there are more friendlies then bandits! Also, we do random in-game events, livestreams and a lot of us are recording FRAPS footage for the YouTubes. Hello! We found a Huey today and repaired it fully and I flew around as pilot the whole day! We left the windshields out thinking they are only optional like other ground vehicles. Fuel was leaking even tho everything was green. Repairing the windshields solved the leaking problem You cant use Fuel Tank Parts to repair it. so i highly recommend repairing the windshields on the Huey! once repaired a full fuel tank lasts for hours of flying! but refilling it is a pain in the ass xD 1000 litres of fuel and 1 jerry can has 20. with 9 cans and a man power of 4 it took us around 15 mins near a gas station.

Pretty decent break-in for my newly acquired L85 AWS So what do you do when your favorite server - which has all your tents and vehicles - goes offline because of issues with the new patch? You roam around and search for camps on other servers So my buddy (equipped with a DMR) and I (equipped with L85 Thermal and Rangefinder) decided to check the western forest border of the map We ended up on the tree line at the little farm where the Old Hatchback spawns(SW of Lopatino) Just as we were about to check out the Hatchback on the farm we saw 2 players running up the street, apparently they wanted to do the same So my ghillied friend takes out his DMR, sets up and waits for me to call out the range Just as they arrived at the farm a 3rd player spawned right infront of them and started exchanging gear with the other 2 When they all stood still I gave the go and my friend and I opened fire simultaneously 1 down 2 down 3 dow-....nope AltF4'd...nvm 5 minutes of waiting and nobody else showed up, so we prepared to move in and grab our reward Then I saw the legs of a ghillie suit laying at the eastern treeline.....loot will have to wait Now after 5 minutes of flanking, checking thermals, continue flanking, checking thermals again we concluded that the sniper AltF4'd too But it was obvious that he watched the corpses of his fallen comrades to shoot the first person trying to loot them We expected him to ghost to another position Then the server restarted Not a single scratch on us, only a couple of magazines missing with a tent packed with ammo waiting - but no loot Oh well....atleast we had our fun -
Yep Spawned NPC's all over in my camp today and stole all my vehicles. then parked my helicopter in a group of trees. We found his name and I banned him PM if you want the GUID/IP to ban.

So, I guess this is maintenance or should we restart, the players who can't wait for the countdown complete join and then all tents and vehicles are not loaded correctly? That's the problem. We dont abuse our servers or anything like that, but we don't want our items despawn. Also we had a group whos playing on our server, came on our teamspeak and their tents were gone, so we restarted and locked the server, till everything was loaded correctly.

Evening reset and all the vehicles reappeared where they were yesterday.

Goodday to all server hosts. Our group is currently looking for a new server to play on. We are a group of around 10 from the Netherlands playing A LOT. We can really bring some fun and exciting activity to your server, and we're all legit. The server we want to play on requires: - low ping (NL preferred but LUX or DE should be fine too, maybe even UK) - veteran mode with 3d. Ch can be whatever mode - announcing server restarts during day playtime (we've lost several vehicles on other servers due to rollbacks and other crap due to crappy restarts) - WORKING INVENTORIES FOR TENTS AND VEHICLES, most important point. Some servers have been awful when saving stuff in tents and vehicles, some others were decent. We need a good server that we want to invest in, and this is futile for that, - around 50 player slots with a minimum of 25 online at peak hours - active countering of hackers (clean sweeps after script spawning and Stuff) Who knows or has a good server where we can settle? Please do help!

I was flying my chopper earlier today and got kicked by Battleye (error #55) in mid-flight. While the game was paused, the heliopter looked like it was EXTREMEMLY damaged and I was in shock and bleeding. However, when I spawned in again I was on the ground below in perfect condition, but my heli was nowhere to be found. The server got restarted an hour later and we checked our camp, Skalisty Island, and the land around the place where I got kicked from, but we couldn't find the heli anywhere. Is there a respawn timer for vehicles that get de-spawned by Battleye, or a new helicopter spawn location? The server was US 838. -

Okay, my first response wasn't 'nice' so yeah, let's try proper critism. * [NEW] Beans, sardines and pasta cans spawn chance decreased * [NEW] Soda cans spawn chance decreased. A Slight decrease wouldn't hurt, but I think a change more in the way of locations it spawns would be better, no more Soda and canned foods in military areas, ruines and industrial areas * [NEW] Bloodbags spawn chance decreased. Agreed mostly, you can find them by the dozen at any hospital, but I doubt a change would mean anything unless it's a significant decrease in ammount, * [NEW] Millitary grade sniper rifles except SVD spawn chance slightly decreased, includes M107, AS50, DMR and M24 * [NEW[ Military weapons such as M4 and FN FAL spawn chance decreased. The Anti-matiriel rifles and the DMR should be more rare, considering the M24 is generally considered worse then the DMR and is less common it should change. While some of the military grade weapons should be more rare the base line bare bones should stay common, the ones with advanced optics and grenade launchers on the other hand. * [NEW] Players spawn with a random bloodtype * [NEW] A syringe equipment now spawns in Hospitals, it allows the transfusion of blood from yourself to other players or the opposite. Doesn't seem like a great idea, considering most people run around with military grade sniper rifles (and even with spawn rate changes will still do) this weapon gives even fresh spawns a fighting chance against bandits and murderess. Besides, it's been nerfed. * [NEW] Animals spawn chance decreased Well, they spawn very often now, but I doubt anything but a significant change would be anythign but meaningless. Besides, as long as the meat duplication bug still exists it's very easy to get 20+ meat from a single cow. * [NEW] Cooked meat refils 400 blood only instead of 800. Canned food refils 100 blood isntead of 200. Combined with the spawn rate decreases this would be a bad idea, you already need dozens of food cans and a bag full of meat to recover your health, with a decreased spawn rate this would nerf blood recovery way to much. * [NEW] Vehicles and bicycles are now generally more common. (More spawn locations for them. Would be needed since ACE mod removes the unlimited stamina bullshit. No more olympics marathon running, find a vehicle) Vehicles would still be hoarded and if everyone had a vehicle we would need a way bigger map. I would like to see more bicycles tough, and have them (re)spawn more often. * [NEW] A huge variety of civilian skins now spawn and have a high spawn chance. Allows easier recognition of friendlies and diversity in player looks. I'd like to see both more civilian and more military clothing, more variation is always good. However this shouldn't stand in the way of normal loot, we don't want to find a fifth police uniform while we are starving because we have no beans. -
The mod has potential, but the removal of bandit camouflage led to the situation we're now in. It used to be a much friendlier environment: now that we have practically no way to determine a player's intentions and overall style of play, it's better to shoot on sight than take a chance. Granted, it's not terribly difficult to reacquire your gear (takes me roughly one hour to get an ALICE, all tools and a primary weapon from a crash site). The two biggest problems with DayZ: lack of end-game goals/material, and no persistent storage and/or overall progress. Starting over loses its novelty after you've been killed a handful of times... then, it becomes a tedious exercise. Until there are quests or some form of end-game goals along with better ways to semi-permanently store items and park vehicles relatively safely, I will spend considerably less time playing DayZ. Let's face it, who the fuck wants to spend hours fixing a helicopter, only to lose it to a random survivor's chance encounter with it the moment you log out for the night? It's a futile endeavor. /rant

So. I've had multiple discussions of a lack of end-game recently. Here are my thoughts for potentially amusing options: 1) Assault the zombies in larger cities directly. We go in loud, and we aim to kill every darned zombie in the city. We offer to protect anyone we find. I figure this will take maybe 5-6 of us, 10-12 would be better. We start in Cherno, work our way to Elektro. If nothing else, this WILL attract bandits, and offer a great opportunity to take them out. We'll need to bring snipers into the city with us for protection... as well as to call the zombies to food-time. If we do this semi-regularly on the same server, we will become recognizable and perhaps attract others to our cause. High zombie-kill score = awesome. 2) Find vehicles. Repair vehicles. Drive them to the coast, hide them, fill them with weapons. Break them beyond the point of easy repair. This would be easiest accomplished with teams of 2 scouring the map looking for vehicles to be repaired. We'd want to focus on a single server, and see if we could get 4-5 vehicles hidden on the coast. It would seriously aid our spawns, and could be done along with suggestion 1. 3) If we've tired of the DayZ issues, we could... try out other Arma 2 mods, or the game itself! I definitely agree that direct comms needs a "shout" button that'll let you be heard in a 200m cone in addition to the 80m radial range. I meet a lot of friends by getting involved in their PvZ woes or offering a bandage when it's needed, and seeing a guy a short distance away but not being able to alert him to my presence (without shooting at him, which has a predictably counterproductive effect) is often frustrating. As for a policy on aggression, I do my best not to fight survivors unless they have gear that I value above their companionship, and not much gear fits that category. A Coyote pack is only 20% bigger than the ubiquitous ALICE pack, and an 1866 is every bit as effective in PvZ as an AKM or DMR. The only stuff that's really worth killing a guy for is stuff like NVG, rangefinders and sniper rifles, which in turn are used primarily for PvP. The obvious exception is vehicles, which are awesome at all times, but when you have the infrastructure and resources to maintain them you'll find that you're in the realm of fighting players for access to finite goods and had better be ready to take on all comers. So for me, I'll only shoot on sight to get rare PvP gear, which in turn I'll only want when I'm trying to steal a vehicle with my buddies, and when I have said vehicle I'll gear up for PvP and kill anyone that comes near the vehicle I stole. That's a different game up there, where the trucks and the ghillie suits and the forward scouts come into play, and the guys who have gear that's appropriate to that game but not the stomach to play it are the ones who sit on hills overlooking Elektro or watch the fields south of the airbase for targets of opportunity. Those guys are a problem, but not as bad as the nublets who hear stories about griefers and think that everyone they see is hellbent on killing them to drink their blood. They then become what they fear and create this culture of fear and mistrust that permeates the game, and the end result is me having to bind my voice key to my mouse so I can shout, "You're a moron and a jerk and we could have been buddies!" while I scurry out of the Elektro supermarket with Enfield rounds whizzing past my head. -
I've been playing months solo and I'm bored of it. Sick of it. I've also been trying to find teammates forever and never found any. I need people who want to play. Usually it's got to be around 7pm-3am eastern, but I can do any time. In fact, I could get on right now. I have 2 tents, so we can start building camp immediatly. I can do any server. I jsut want to have fun. Straight up have fun. Banditry, heroic work, medic work, scavenge vehicles, anything! Hit me up plz.

The server was running for over 24 hrs and i found your Camp today... it wasnt very well hidden to be honest ... i could spot the cars from far away ... PLUS you started this thread http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/49637-to-the-admin-of-lu150/ in which you revealed you and a large group of people are hiding cars on this server ... its your own fault you got raided so dont complain afterwards when we arrived at your camp the admin wasnt even there with us .. we were 3 ... the server restarded this evening 2-3 times and we lost one of your hard worked for cars due to that ... so you cant blame us ... from what i've heard it seemed to be a planned restart because the server was online for so long ... i dont know what happened and when all of us experienced FPS Problems we decided to restart the server but at a time we already left your camp and saved the vehicles ... none of us disconnected and as far as i know the one you saw disconnecting was in already back in the uaz ... you shot one of us and later two of your mates succesfully killed another one ... this wouldnt be possible if we were disconnecting ... its not fair to start threads like that ... and we are kinda happy we have you guys on our server and you are welcome to find us and try to kill us ...but just dont make pointless threads like this ... -

Damn, I opened this and the official 1.7.1.5 and thought this wasthe actual one, the first patch notes I've seen in a while that made me go "theeeeeeeere we go!!! These would be good changes, coming from someone with a lot of hours in DayZ, especially the vehicles. -
Proposal of a password protected gaming environment

*Behold, wall of text inc* Reason for this thread: Everybody who has been playing the DayZ for some time and got to the "endgame" content, knows about how bad cheating actually is and will actually be able to understand the reason for my proposal. If you're new to this game, ignore this thread and just start playing and have fun while you can. Hackers dont bother about "lowies". Once you get killed by a invisible guy using Godmode, come back and post any ideas you have. :) Hacks currently enable the following "features" on _all_ live Servers: (And keep in mind that we a re playing a online Multiplayer game here) To my knowledge: IF the hacker is skilled, those will not be detected by battle-eye. - Godmode - Invisibility - Maphack, showing live-positions of all players on the ingame map - Maphack, showing live-positions of all vehicles on the ingame map - Teleporting to any location on the map, with 1 click on the ingame map - Spawning any ARMA-II Item into any live-DayZ Server - Spawning any ARMA-II Vehicle (even tanks or a Jet) into any live-DayZ Server (check youtube, or the DayZ-"Report Cheating" Forum) - killing everybody on the server with a click - kicking any player from server (or all) - banning any player from server (or all) - changing Player-ID to a number of own chosing (unable to get banned) - im sure there's more to add on this list, as I'm sure, i dont know all features These Multiplayer Hacks where written for ARMA-II, not DayZ. But can be used (are used) for DayZ nevertheless. I dont think Rocket and his team have the resources to actively patch those issues as they're not actively developing the main-game (correct me if im wrong.. i really would like to be). Since i would like to continue playing this game, I came up with the following idea, which would enable a legit gameplayer, at least on some servers. My idea basically relies on Server Admins willing to dedicate even more time into their Servers: Proposal of a password protected gaming environment Passworded & Locked servers: - Players need to apply to the server they like to play on( username, ID, valid _email_, and maybe a short introduction, mentioning ppl. playing allready playing on the server (subject to change)); Everybody who provides this, will be accepted to the serverlist (dont want to exclude anyone, just want to provide a possibly-free-hacker-zone, which is why we need these informations) - Ingame-name must not be changed (..as it will be a checked by a script on serverconnection) -> The Admin will then send the Server login-Password to the email address provided in the application and will post the Name, ID and Email into a Database. The clue: - Upon Serverconnection a script checks your Ingame name and ID versus the database. IF username & ID are not valid / not found, connection to the server is rejected. - this way it doesn't matter if the Server-password is posted on Facebook or something - a possible outside hacker would have to guess a an ID that is valid to exactly one ingame name. (extremely unlikely, except database gets hacked. But we are dealing with Script-kiddies here, mostly) - a possible hacker, who went through the registration process and now starts to mess up the game, can be ID'ed and taken of the database by the Serveradmin. He would be kicked instanly by the script and would stay out. He wouldn't be able to reconnect unless he registers a new name, id and Email with the server admin.. and now it would come in handy, if you were also required to mention a player already playing on the server. This would be tough for a random hacker. I think this combination would create quite a hurdle for those with evil thoughts ("ha-ha"). The Result: - a happy user/playerbase on some Servers - watched over by the local Serveradmin ( those who chose to do so ) - huge responsibilty to the Serveradmin. As I have met some Serverhosters(Admins) and so far was able to talk reasonably with all of them, I am sure that most would do a decent job. Also most admins are pissed to a degree where they shutdown their servers after multiple nuking, because they just dont know any other way to help. Admins have no power against hackers. I personally would love a Server environment like this. I would register myself to the admins Database in a second and i know dozens of people willing to do the same. I would send them money to keep up the work! Personal clarification for this proposal: I dont want any support, I dont want any hackers be banned, I'm not acusing anyone, I just want to play this awesome game on a cheat-free environment. Long ago I learned that cheating takes away all the fun in any game you like playing. Cheating to a degree which not only ruins your own fun - but those of _everyone_ on the whole server... well.. As u can see i've been giving some thoughts on this matter, care about the game andfinally wrote this post. I just registered on this forum so i can post this thread. I do see potential in the game. Potential that will get lost if endgame content is not fixed. People who achieved endgame gear, will only stay playing DayZ if they can actually still achieve something ingame. At the very moment that would be getting a Helicopter, which requires you to team up, which is fun. I've witnessed dozens of people starting to play again, after Helis were announced again. I like to play with/help others. In the past years I've been the kind of player who starts his own community around a game. In my spare time, I donate huge amounts of time and effort into the game of my liking. Currently: As soon as you arrive on the endgame content, you will become a target for those Evil-minded. I dont mind dying, and loosing all my stuff, i dont mind getting killed in a heli we spent 10 hours to find and repair. As long as the guy who finally got me, got me in a legit way. I personally experienced several teleporting-, godmode using- and heli spawning-Hackers which have been equiped godlike. The cheating really is a huge problem in this game _right now_. Just take a look in "Cheat Reporting" Forum. At this very moment I can see 4 entire forum pages of Cheat/hack reportings, which have been created or updated _TODAY_. Something has to be done. Or you will just lose a huge part of those players, that actually play on a regular basis or more. (Players that should matter most.) If you find a server I will be more then happy to play with you. I'm looking for a new server as well, I'm newish at the game for i have only been playing for 2 days and want to be able to get a vehicle but most servers horde the vehicles. -
Focus: -Surviving is way too easy -Dayz is turning into Resident Evil Operation Raccon City, a deathmatch 3rd person shooter with zombies. -Basic survival tools are way too common and easy to find. -Banditing is a part of game nevertheless. Current Changelog (WIP): * [NEW] Beans, sardines and pasta cans spawn chance decreased * [NEW] Soda cans spawn chance decreased. * [NEW] Bloodbags spawn chance decreased. * [NEW] Millitary grade sniper rifles except SVD spawn chance slightly decreased, includes M107, AS50, DMR and M24 * [NEW[ Military weapons such as M4 and FN FAL spawn chance decreased. * [NEW] Players spawn with a random bloodtype * [NEW] A syringe equipment now spawns in Hospitals, it allows the transfusion of blood from yourself to other players or the opposite. You can not transfuse blood to yourself off a dead body. * [NEW] You can kill other players by draining their blood and stealing it for yourself. * [NEW] De-coloristation only happens if you're below 5000 blood now. * [NEW] Alice pack back spawn chance decreased. * [NEW] Players now spawn with a Czech vest pouch * [NEW] Coyote Patrol Packs now spawn and could be found as a loot. Now you have to either aim for the head or the legs of the zombie (Would be easier since their zig-zaggy motion and their superhuman speed is fixed). * [NEW] Primary weapons such as the AK-74 damage increased against zombies. (Now you actually might think of using your primary weapon against zombies) * [NEW] Increased Matchbox spawn chance * [NEW] If you re-fill canteen from a lake, water must be boiled before drinking. You'll need an empty tin can, the canteen and a fire. The action automatically boils all the water in your canteen and re-fill them making them good for drinking again. * [NEW] Enfield spawn chance slightly decreased. * [NEW] Animals spawn chance decreased * [NEW] Cooked meat refils 400 blood only instead of 800. Canned food refils 100 blood isntead of 200. * [NEW] Vehicles and bicycles are now generally more common. (More spawn locations for them. Would be needed since ACE mod removes the unlimited stamina bullshit. No more olympics marathon running, find a vehicle) * [NEW] A huge variety of civilian skins now spawn and have a high spawn chance. Allows easier recognition of friendlies and diversity in player looks.
