Too many vehicles = Server crash/restart?
Riokusu replied to Fatneck's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Personally had no problem with vehicles like that for our group, we had 6 (Bus, little red speed-o car, pickemup, uval, ATV, and a UAZ). The problem we had was people hounding the map 24/7 looking for our vehicles, that is literally ALL anyone on that server did, so we ditched it haha. -
If I see someone driving a vehicle, should I pursue him?
qbicfeet replied to qbicfeet's topic in New Player Discussion
Okay. Maybe I should have added that I searched the general area I last saw their vehicles at for about an hour before I logged off. I'm stocked up with cooked meat and water bottles so I guess I'll keep searching. Any idea where though? Any popular spots in the northeastern region of the map? With the vehicle-reset-outside-the-map-stuff and all I assume they aren't hiding them outside the map. I have both drivers' names too, any way I could gain an advantage with this? -
Too many vehicles = Server crash/restart?
mikhail replied to Fatneck's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
the second server you were on, the vehicles will likely show back up when the server restarts again. This is a common issue (tents/vehicles disappearing after a reboot) -
The perfect balance. Its enough of an RPG to where i want to keep my guy alive because he has good stuff and good vehicles and what not, but its also short term enough to where if you die and rage and all that stuff, its not THAT big of a deal

Are there vehicle location hacks? or admin abuse here?
D'BrickShaw replied to lnfighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
These kinds of posts are far more concerning than Strife's posts on perfectly valid issues. If you really are an admin, a quick look through your server logs should verify that yes, the kind of abuse Strife is talking about is absolutely possible. Admins have full access to the DayZ server log, which contains every single database transaction between your server and the hive. This includes player co-ordinates and names, all the items in every players inventory, save locations of tents, locations of vehicles whenever anyone enters/exits them, etc. If you're a server admin and feel unfairly threatened by these kinds of accusations, it means one of two things: a ) You're ignorant of the true extent of your abilities as an admin (which is probably for the best really, considering the amount of abuse that already occurs). or b ) You're already using these techniques, and want to shout down the messenger to keep it quiet as long as you can. Here's an example of a map made using the admin server logs to track player positions: -

YES. Vehicles can be gold dust sometimes, and can even lead to more loot! :D Just be super sneaky -

DarkFireTorch replied to qbicfeet's topic in New Player Discussion
Hell yes, this is a once in a lifetime chance. Take risks, and have fun. Fucking follow the in the woods, if you have shitty gear, I would still go. You have the edge, surprise. Jump them when they are either sitting or organizing. Kill them with SD, or if you have a grenade throw one, but the vehicles might blow up. -
Norway 25, Vehicles dissappearing, Admin, hacker or bug?
East Clintwood replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Did you actually pay anything to warrant a refund? Last I checked the mod was free of charge. Back on topic though, it's actually almost frequent for vehicles not to load in with the server after a crash/restart, it just means the server needs to be restarted again and that pretty much fixes it. -
I always think that mechanics that strive to provide an authentic take on reality are better than arbitrary nerfs or removal of weapons. Example AS50/M107 is huge, heavy, and deadly IRL in game its simply deadly there is nothing there to simulate the drawbacks of using the weapon system that IRL keep it reserved for situational usage. This would be best addressed via encumbrance and an authentic representation of pack/gear storage. Carrying this weapon around should make you slower, much slower. You should not be able to store it fully assembled in your pack or in a vehicle. You should not be able to enter a vehicle with the weapon equiped and you should not be able to fire it from a non set position and expect any type of accuracy due to its weight. These sub systems like inventory management and encumbrance aren't flashy like weapons/vehicles etc, but they are where you turn to provide balance not nerfs, gamey mechanics, or arbitrary removal. There is a reason IRL that the M14 or M24/700 is used against personel targets and this could be replicated via mechancis. I am for a skill system for the mod and I do think it should include fire arms, but I don't think it should effect your aim, that is *Your* skill and should not be affected or nerfed by a system. Skills should be point buy so you can make your character exactly what you want. Fire arm skills should again revolve around the subsystems or actions that go into using the weapon like reloading, identifying ammunition for your gun, deploying/readying your gun, recovering from jams if they were incorporated, cleaning/maintaining, repairing etc. If you give someone a weapon they will figure out how to get it off saftey, fire the weapon, and reload the weapon. They may not be *fast* and this is what can be simulated with skills, just as a lack of cartridge knowledge could be simulated, but its the players skill that decides if when the gun goes boom the target goes down.

Depends what gear you have, if you have a decent primary, crawl out and scout the area, stay stealthy, if you see anyone, drop them, but then haul ass back to somewhere safe, a clan member will probably call for backup if killed in camp and you can watch if they do, and also drop them :D If it is clear, then just quickly steal as much goodies as possible, fill up a vehicle with loot and get the hell out of there. If you want to annoy them even more, when you get in a vehicle, drive over all of their tents to flatten them. And if they have any grenades, move your stolen vehicle away a little and grenade their remaining vehicles, tear the place down.

I'm looking for some people to join up with that are fairly skilled and know how to handle themselves. In the future I would like to have a base camp, some vehicles and supplies. I would also like to conduct highly tactical raids on towns and maybe even player camps. If you are interested reply to this post or message my on steam. A name were considering is Tactical Team (TT) ID: JoeDaBro

Breaking your legs and going unconscious by getting smacked is realistic? Healing those broken legs by shooting up with morphine is realistic? Being forced to eat and drink every 40 or so minutes before you start dying is realistic? Eating food to regain blood is realistic? Running forever is realistic? Running with full gear being just as fast as running with nothing is realistic? Every character being a jack-of-all-trades is realistic? 35 or so usable vehicles (including bicycles) in a 225 square kilometer area is realistic? Touching a body and having it fall through the ground is realistic? Zombies (or whatever "the infected" are supposed to be) are realistic? I didn't think so. Drop the stupid ass realism argument. It doesn't work in a video game.

SCO 27 Cheating again and abusing admin
Legendary Fox replied to Mozcov's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
To start with, I am not an abusing admin, how could I be? Our server host already has a feature that shuts down dayz servers that are locked within the game. I am actually devistated, literally devistated at the amount of bullshit your trying to land us in. Indestructible Heli? Satchel Charges? We found that Heli on Skalisty Island and we repaired it with parts we got from Solnichiney, not only that, but that AS50 TWS you speak of, we killed a hacker that kept on calling airstrikes in Elektro and got his AS50 TWS, and we've been keeping it in storage ever since, as none of us want to use it as it is against the rules, hence why we didnt use it, but now that its in your use, you are the one breaking the rules. We have a VERY large clan on this server, and there is currently another clan that we work with also, we set a global search to get our vehicles back, which we did along the border of debug plains - where everyone puts their camps/vehicles. As I said before, I am litterally devistated at the fact you accuse us of hacking, We are a community for crying out loud, not some leet haxors clan. We bought our own server for OTHERS, such as yourself, not to hack, as that would be plain stupid. -
Norway 25, Vehicles dissappearing, Admin, hacker or bug?
uRxP Cypher replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This has happened to us, without a server restart. One of my clan mates was 10 feet behind our V3S, moving things into a tent from it. 1 minute later, he turned around to find the V3S gone. It would be impossible to be driven off that quickly and without noise. 10 minutes later I watched a red UAZ literally disappear while scoping it out. Restarted server, vehicles came back. Yesterday, after a regualr server restart, all vehicles and tents refused to spawn till two more restarts were performed. We check three sites we set up with tents and 4 sites of others we know exist and none of them had any tents or vehicles. It was the strangest thing... -
[From a bandit] You suck, your attitude is wrong and need to GTF over it
Creambomb posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wall of text. TL;DR s in the title. My own experience: I've died about 7-8 times, having played this game for about two months. Half my deaths are to zombies, because I was a complete nitwit when I started playing. The other half is to being shot. I don't know wether that is good or bad compared to the general populace, some of my friends have died well over a dozen times, but they take a lot of risks because they think it's fun. I have a ghillie, an AS50 rifle with 8 mags, GPS, NV, rangefinder, everything. I've found and had vehicles, the only thing I have left to aspire to is finding a helicopter and flying around like a bouse, I've even trained for the occassion. But here's the thing, even if I did find one I'd just get my mates and we'd fly to the popular areas and kill every living fucker we'd see. There is literally, nothing else that's exciting to do. That and it's fun to kill people, because we all know some of them will be the carebear whiners we all love to hate. Though let me tell you this, I have killed far less than I could've done. Some times I notice the shitty gear on someone, and I just don't bother. Other times, confrontation is too risky and not worth it. Many of you will go through this, people DO see you but avoid you. You just never know because... they avoid you. So you died today? Here's the major reasons why people die. 1. You went into Cherno. 2. You went into Elektro. 3: You went to the NW airfield. 4. You went to Balota airfield. 5. You went to the NE airfield. 6.You were running whilst standing up. 7. You didn't have a clue. 8. Bad luck, you ran into someone. 9. <----All in all, the reasons most people die is because they take risks. Risks equals death or reward in this game, you better get used to it. Your two enemies in this game are zombies and other players, it's most likely you'll die to other players more than zombies because the players can shoot you. But why would they shoot you? Because they're noobs or because they've got all the gear they could ask for, like me. Noobs shoot you for the chance of getting better stuff. The geared people shoot you because there is NOTHING ELSE TO DO when you have what gear you need. Look for vehicles? Yeah you could do that, then what? You could hoard items, then what? Now that duping and hacking is rampant, gear is hardly a good enough reason to kill anyone anymore, unless you see a guy in a ghillie. I have several hoard tents I can just go to if I die and respawn, gear means nothing to me nor will I kill anyone for it. I will kill for the rush of the hunt. The only excitement left is to hunt for other players. The hunt for players is unpredictable as fuck and a real adrenaline kick. Even as I crawl through a throng of zombies, my only real worry is if another player see's me doing so. An example is of me laying above Stary Sobor today and spotting 2 companions going north together. I scope in on them and watch them, to determine where they are going and why. I see them approach a deerstand when all of a sudden a gunfight breaks out between them and another guy coming from Stary behind them. One of the two companions dies, and at that point I have located the third person, the killer, sitting behind a bush in perfect view and shooting distance; And I kill him. I lay there for 10-15 minutes more, I see another guy coming by but he never gives me a clear view of him so I never take the shot. I decide to move away, and I do. 20 meters away, someone starts unloading at me from behind, I get hit once but I survive. THAT, is the thrill of the hunt. THAT, is what I play for. But what about cooperation? What would you want to cooperate to? What would be the end goal? What is the purpose of risking cooperating with a complete, anonymous internet douchebag? When you achieve your goals, when you get your gear from possibly cooperating with a stranger, what then? You will eventually face a situation with zombies or most likely survivors, where you WILL die. And that touches another fundamental problem in player mentality: A lot of player can't handle dying. You will die, no matter what you do, you will die. Especially if you're a new player and don't know your way around. I cannot overstate this, count yourself as dead from the moment you spawn. Get rid of your pride. Drop that lootwhore attitude you got from World of Warcraft. This is an alpha of a modification, gaining and keeping gear is completely insignificant.- 50 replies

Adding an Event forum will allow players to host get togethers or pvp matches. it can also be for groups or clans to post a forum page to keep from cluttering the other forum sections. there would only be one clan/event post from event/clan organizer. if you are just looking for a person to run with for awhile it would have a section just for that. wandering medics can have a thread for posts. if people need help a section/thread for that(things like building vehicles or parts, cover for a chrono/elecktro run, etc.) not too important but it would add organization to the forum, so these things aren't swept under the mass of other posts. add a trading center to this as well and make it a hub for players. After a zombie Apocalypse people will try to rebuild some normality. if we could start in the forum maybe we can bring it to the game.

Are there vehicle location hacks? or admin abuse here?
D'BrickShaw replied to lnfighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't think you follow. The co-ordinates of players and vehicles are in the logs. That point is not debatable, and fairly easily verified by anyone who owns a server. So what if the co-ordinate system used isn't identical to that used in-game? Converting points between two co-ordinate systems is quite literally high-school level mathematics, and anyone with a decent programming/scripting background can write something to automate those conversions for them in about half an hour. Sure, you'll need to some trial and error to see how the two systems line up, but as long as you know your own position in both systems (which obviously you do, since as an admin you can see yourself in the logs and you can always know your own position ingame) it can easily be done, and very likely has been done. Not all admins are bad people, and if they're not specifically trying admins can't easily see where all players and vehicles are. If they are trying, however, the information is readily available and it doesn't take much effort to find out exactly where all the vehicles on a server are. Admin abuse is a very real problem that should not be downplayed. Admins hoarding all the vehicles on their server through illegitimate means is just as detrimental to the game as hackers are. -
I get that, we have pickup trucks, vans, sedans, hatchbacks, but no SUVs? (Not talking about the armored one, with the m134 4000rpm minigun. That'd be cool too, tho.) Everyone knows the vehicle of choice in a zombie apocalypse would be a big truck. We don't have the Marauder on ArmAII, unfortunately... But we have the SUV!!! Pros: -Realistic, non-military vehicle. -It's a very nice truck, test drive it in the editor! -It's not that tough, at least not as tough as an Ural, but it's fancy and looks great. To some people, that matters a lot. Cons: -More vehicles added. Not sure if this is a con or not. -Not sure if there are any more cons. Gimme yo beanz, and yo opinions.

Whilst playing on 95417/1.7.2.4 Dayz. Myself and a number of people I play with have noticed that tents and vehicles are not saving equipment within them. So if a user/player saves a vehicle/tent it only remembers the first save's worth of items. If the user then places another item in after the first initial save, hit's save again it does not retain that weapon/item unless it was initially placed in the tent/vehicle upon the first save. Thats not what happened, see. Our cars were gone / disappeared and our tents were still there, unlooted.

THIS! Take it up with Rocket, dudes. Or tell me what else I am supposed to do if I have all the gear and ten vehicles stashed somewhere (yes, me and my group have ten vehicles). Only thing I can do is hunt players.

Banned for no reason from US 138 - Hosted by The T.R.O.
bascal posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Video of me and all the other CQF members who were on the server trying to get back in after the ban: Basically we were on the server last night, found a couple camps up north, as well as 3 vehicles. Geared up and stole the vehicles, hiding them somewhere else on the map. We were playing today after the server went down for a few hours. I was helping a clan mate who was injured heal up and recover another vehicle (the dirt bike) when somebody took me out with an AS 50 and my clan mate (Christian) took out the sniper. A while later (after the bandit we took out logged off the server) I'm running back from the beach and we all get banned from server at the same time. None of us hacked, cheated or exploited in any way. If you know CQF you know that that would not be tolerated at all. We suspect we were banned for raiding their camps. -

DarkwaveDomina replied to lnfighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't want to look like I'm on some sort of crusade, but holy balls. I bet admins get sick to the back teeth of being accused of things like this. I've seen them accused of everything from using kill commands, turning players in to zombies, aimbotting/wallhacking, and now even "tracking players and vehicles". Just to re-iterate: Many admins have said on this board that they don't have these magical powers, put up or shut up. -
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-TRADING NOTICE-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Trading is stopping for a while : I regret to tell you that today our Camp was raided and our vehicles destroyed. Until we can regather our stuff and make a new camp (our back up camp is not enough to trade off) we cant trade as we have nothing to trade.. Ay, I'm just finding your body with this, not accusing you of hacking but it is suspicious. How new are you to the game that you DON'T KNOW that the G36C is not in the game. Oh, and I'm not bullshitting otherwise I would've been banned quite some time ago. All our gear and vehicles are legit, I really don't know how you can't understand the concept of the private HIVE. Many servers have it including CA1. Dude, I know NOTHING of the coding of ArmA or Day Z, hell I don't even know the language it uses, so HOW am I supposed to hack or script into the game? The server is a fair, non-hacking server. It has occasional hackers that ruin game play but are close to immediately banned once they are detected. Maybe you should do a little more research on the server you are reporting for "hacking" before actually making a complaint. I see you use the same insults and keep saying the same thing when you actually have no proof of any hacking/scripting. Actually watched the videos, that is a hack that is put in by hackers called "Thunderdome" it is becoming a common hack, and just because this had happened (Happened about 5 times in the last 3 days) doesn't mean we did it. Actually, stuff has been implemented on the server to prevent if from getting "Thunderdomed". As for the satchel charges you can loot NWAF and Stary Sobor to find them, and find about 10 in 2 days. Also you can blow up buildings with smoke grenades but satchels work just as well. As for you randomly falling and getting brought to 10k blood, that's because the market was glitched for some reason and would do the effect of blowing up while causing damage to anything around it. Your videos are irrelevant and can prove nothing. Hope this clears things up.

Group of 4-5 looking for a Server Home
mikhail replied to Chimaera's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
hackers can be on any server so honestly that shouldn't really be a factor. map on is typically only on regular servers, not veteran. server restarts, well they happen on every server and honestly a proper admin will restart it if tents/vehicles are not spawning. friendly.....well that all just depends on who's on. There's no way to know.
