LOL reminds me of when I came across a bunch of people at NWAF riding bikes and vehicles in circles in middle of airfield.No one was shooting at anyone else with everyone else just running around the vehicles acting silly.Was weird how everyone was on same mindset of NO-KOS. -
This thread is just a simple rundown of what needs changing in Day Z and why. Current positives -Loot works well and fine -Guns work fine -Status ailments (broken bones, bleeding etc.) are all fine -Vehicles work and repair fine Current negatives -Side chat is gone. There's a balance between gameplay and realism and it's weighted towards the latter rather than the former. There is VERY little interaction with players anymore, everyone just murders everyone they see and it's completely shit to be honest. Bring back side chat so I can get immersed in the game, communicate with it's players and have a better time. Removing side chat took away a lot of the social aspect of the game. -Spawning with no equipment is stupid. People keep complaining that zombies are too hard, so what happens? New players get their guns and basic supplies taken away. Why? Now people just get murdered as soon as they get anywhere and they have no way to defend themselves. Give us back our basic equipment, at least people won't be deathmatching quite as much. Nobody likes getting broken legs and having a disabled respawn button either.. -RE ENABLE THE RESPAWN BUTTON. What is the purpose in disabling it? Every time people spawn in a shit place like Kamenka they just get zombies to kill them anyway. Now we've gotta run 10 minutes just to die? It's retarded. -Find a way to stop stupid clans hogging ALL of the vehicles. They take them, hide them off the map and nobody ever gets to see them again. These are just a few simple suggestions to stop the deathmatching, improve the social aspect of the game and make it a bit easier for newbies. As it stands now, people spawn, end up somewhere horrible, run to zombies and get killed and do it over and over. Then they get killed by someone with a powerful weapon camping somewhere and they can't even return fire. Make the game how it was 6 weeks ago, everyone liked it better.

I feel that a huge contributer to the lack of trust leading to hostility is the lack of communication. Things like Global/Side chat made working out agreements between randoms much easier. These are things that can help. -Two direct chat variants "whisper" and "shout", Whisper works out to 50m, shout out to 200m. -Radios, similar to (but doesn't need to necesarily be as complex or realistic as) ACRE, so that players could scan frequencies and communicate agreements and cooperative action across chernarus "If anyone hears us, come to location X with your weapon lowered and announcing yourself on shout channel to meet up". -Vehicle loudspeakers, military vehicles like the V3S, UAZ, Huey, and military offroad could have loudspeakers used to send out warnings/messages out across longer distances than voice. An example would be a huey circling elektro/cherno disseminating information to player via loudspeaker. -

I thought of this after playing the game for the first time within a matter of minutes. It only makes sense. Things like engine parts, wheels, should be around other vehicles. Also perhaps there should be ammunition, weapons, bandages around the burned out Humvies? They are military vehicles after all.

Yes, you read that right. Me and my friend Dagger found a Ural and V3S off in the woods in the NW corner of the map. Both were fully stocked with weapons, ammo, clothing etc, but what amazed me were the 100 Satchel Charges!!! Ok, i know they are obviously duped, or hacked in, but we decided to use ALL OF THEM AT ONCE and clear out a entire treeline along with the Ural :D Here is the first video, all of these were recorded live on my twitch channel with 150 people watching :lol: http://www.twitch.tv...1aw/b/326880292 So we decided to save 10 of them and take down some houses at Petrovka. I agree with with everybody suggested, there should be a way that admin can get more information about a player would be cool to let the admin know who is spawning vehicles that shouldn't be there. Also you should name your vehicles in the Day Z and if a vehicle that spawns without a name should be immediately removed. Hope you know what I mean by naming. Like vehicle1, vehicle2 and etc. Also somehow if you can name your weapons and items that spawn to but don't make it public but make it like to where if players are in a area it should only name them in that area. If possible if you can detect when a player gets an item out in middle of no where and flag the player in a FLAGGED.txt file with their Name > GUID > Reason for Flag > Timestamp. Yea man rocket you really need to add some sort of way for admins to better track down hackers. We can't always rely on Battleye its been known for years to be able to bypass it isn't all that great. If you built an In game anti-cheat, admin information menus, and all that you should have yourself an almost anti cheat proof mission. Also as well each dayz_server.pbo should be where the anticheat and admin systems go and also randomize the file names so hackers can't bypass it by disabling the file. Or atleast have the admin of the server be able to name it to whatever they want it to be. -
I totally second that! This, and generally more spawns of repairable vehicles in the game at logical places (such as gas stations, etc.). I've played the game for a week now, but the only vehicle i've encountered so far, was a damaged motorbike and a damaged bus. Would be more logical when there are more vehicles. In turn it could be made a little bit more harder to repair them.

Its the campaign/main map for ArmA 2, so existing. Theres some changes made to it, like the roadblocks and broken vehicles around the map tho. -

16) implement a warning leaving area system, e.g. when the character goes into certain coordinates on the map they will die after 5-10 seconds, this makes tent city's easier to find and vehicle hoarding less of an issue 17) make some fuel pumps empty randomly, this makes vehicles harder to run and makes people think about fuel consumption 18) integrate clans and survivor/bandit groups into the forums e.g, join groups, organise teams, group statistics. 19) extend the best part of the game ( first 30-50 mins) make loot more scarce make hospitals have limited supply's, make people go into other towns for gear rather than just cherno/nw airfield once. make cans of coke/pepsi more important by having some lakes contaminated ( this can be shown by having dead zombies in the water) 20) make people want to play at night time by increasing loot spawns and decreasing nvg and thermal view distance -

It usually happens when the hive is hiccuping or when too many players try to connect at once (can be other influences too but I've found those two most common - it's basically anything that would cause issues on mission start). The thing is on start up of the DayZ mission, scripts are run which load objects from the database (both vehicles and tents), and if those scripts don't fully complete or fail, then you get the whole invisible deal. Hence why if you've got too many players trying to load in at once, the server will prioritize loading the players so the scripts fail to complete. And the Hive hiccuping which isn't often can cause issues, especially when there's a huge amount of players online. Rocket made a fairly detailed post about it ages ago, not sure where it is. Just remember that the tents / vehicle information is stored in the database under your instance, so a server restart should correct it (unless the Hive is the fault). -
An update to what is happening: All of our stuff dissapeared during a scheduled server restart at 17:00 BST today. I have heard of this problem happening before where the tents and vehicles do not spwan in when a server does not restart properly and this is sometimes fixed after another restart. This next restart is scheduled 2 hours after this post and we will update you about the status of our stocks. If it is gone then we will have to stop trading until we can find another camp to raid. OMG all of our stuff just dissapeared after the last server restart...all vehicles and tents are gone, ok the vehicles will probably be back after the next but I doubt the tents will be, right? This is getting really frustrating honestly. I mean I agree that the rule "dont get attached to your loot in chernarus" is important, but since I'm not a noob in this game anymore, and have good stuff, or I'm able to get good stuff quickly, the only fun things to do for me is setting up camps and be in firefights against other people. This is surviving for me at the moment, Zombies aren't a real threat in my opinion. -

Tents get lost in reboots at times. Seems to happen on restarts more than the shut down and start up again process. We have found that they come back once the server is restarted. As for vehicles? Don't know for sure as we don't have any so haven't personally had an issue or our player base complain about it yet. Since they are tracked liek the other server objects, I would imagine it should cure as well -
Today at 18:45 (GMT+0), playing in a server with some friends, we found a Pick Up Truck, a Bicycle and the Ural Truck. We put some weapons and ammo inside the vehicles. at 19:10, the server went down... We all saved each vehicle and when we came back the pick up truck and the bicycle disapear. The Ural went back to the spawn place. Everything is gone.... What's wrong with this?

THe server I administrate seems to not spawn vehicles, I've checked many towns, including stary, airfield, etc. and no vehicles spawns. I asked multiple users including clans about it and they said they had no vehicles. Is there a possibility there's a bug which makes it so vehicles don't spawn at all?

Well up to this point, the group I play with has had many vehicles and a Heli. Up to this point, every single one has been trolled away from us by the game. They used to disappear at server restart and then appear again after the next restart. Since this last patch that is not the case anymore. Our vehicles disappear at restart and never come back now. It seems its almost pointless to waste the time it takes repairing the damn things.

So tents suck, right? So I was thinking, what if there was a save feature added to packs just like vehicles and tents have. I think it would be awesome if I could fill a pack and stash it somewhere, and it would be a whole lot more realistic that shoving a tent in the middle of tree. In order to balance them with tents they could despawn faster, i.e. disappear if they aren't interacted with for two or three days. What do you guys think?

I was thinking of paying for hosting of a server myself. I'm tired of spending hours everytime I want to play looking for a server in the appropriate timezone that's not already full. I'm especially tired of never being able to play on the same server twice because the one I played on last time was full, or wasn't even in the list anymore? (particularly when you consider the vehicles and tents are server-dependant). And I was particularly frustrated one day when my week-old character with some pretty good gear on him suddenly appears in some sort of an airfield with a bunch of other survivors, then was suddenly dead. So I wanted to look into my own server, where I could get my friends to log on and play. Not exclusive to us, but at least where we could be confident in our OWN server having room in it and safety against hackers (in that we'd have a whitelist of trusted players capable of accessing the server, and anyone hacking would then be removed from that list). I toyed with several ideas. I'm a data center admin, and one of the ideas I was playing with was installing one of our unused servers in the DC and running it off of there. Another one was paying for a hosting company to handle all the setup for us. Divided among the group of us, the hosting couldn't be THAT much. Well it is, it's damned expensive, and I was still considering it, until I saw the rules. These are the ones that turned me off: 1: IT MAY NEVER BE PASSWORDED 2: NO KICKING TO MAKE ROOM FOR 'FRIENDS' OR CLANMATES (only bothers me because of rule 1) 3: Their are only two reasons why you, as a server owner, should ban a player on your server. Those two reasons are: Malicious talk, and racism. You may not ban a user for stealing your loot, killing you, spying on you, etc. So basically, I'd be paying for a server me and my friends could play on together, and I can't guarantee that only trusted players log on, I can't guarantee my friends (or even myself) would be able to access this server if already full, and I can't ban a person from the server for being a known hacker? So then what's the point of taking on this expense? I wouldn't resolve any of my complaints I mentioned above (except possibly not having the server there two days in a row). I'll just use one of the other servers out there. It'll save me money and hassle. Imagine if a majority of other admins also felt the same way? Imagine if the list of servers available dropped to a handful? That would dramatically hurt the game. Now imagine if rules were slackened a bit to entice more servers to be made. I'd sign up... others would too I'm sure. We'd probably double the number of servers out there overnight. -

Yes one shot mags. It makes .50s lest desirable unless they're being used for their intended purpose. Disabling vehicles. If someone's going to use a sniper rifle make them pay the price of low ammo capacity. Not only does it balance it out, but that's rather realistic. What are the chances going to be that you found a m107 and 3 mags full of ammo? No, really you'd probably find it with one full mag and 3-4 in the mag that's loaded into the gun. And as it sets with the ammo glitch (wow I'm a noob I just noticed this!) of re-spawning with full ammo. People would not be able to sit outside of the big traffic areas laying prone from 400+m furiously clicking their mouse and missing 8 times before finally winging a person and then disconnecting so they can top their mags off again. -
