Congrats on being terrible at Dayz! So apparently the server we were playing on just got vehicles because we found ALOT, so we were in the process of fixing up an offroad truck that spawned right where another had been, which one of us took an hour before. So first Henrique backs out whilst my friend is shooting at him and Brazilian kills my friend, then i go see whats up and i shoot a few m107 pot shots and notice a guy (not sure if eather had backed out at that point, but wouldnt doubt it), so he starts shooting at me and i quickly run to reposition. After about 10 minuts im set in place and theyre toying withe truck, crawling around, i kill henrique before he can back out again. Brazilian quickly aborted, i figured hed be comeing up behind me so i repositioned once more. After about 15 minuts of waiting i see the silhouette of a man in the distance, it was brazilian, back scoping the SUV (as if im that big of a donkey). I hesitantly take a shot while he is walking because I could not wait for him to be dead, ofcourse i miss and he backs out once again. After about 30 minutes i know they are not comeing back. I tip my hat to the man who kills BR4z1L14N, i know you probably wont read this, but atleast i know it WILL happen. And Henrique, i hope you learn to out of the game once you alt f4.

Why would you use a sniper rifle instead of the binoculars? If I, or anyone else, sees you aiming (yes your aiming) at a fellow survivor or teammate you WILL be shot. No one knows, nor can they verify, if your friendly or not. I do the same thing when scouting but I have the rifle out and ready to shoot. If i'm alone and just looking into a city i prefer the binoculars because players that may see me wont consider me as a threat as if i were armed with a high powered accurate 1-shot kill weapon. No excuses. Besides, you can't be a serious player if you lack the capability of using binoculars. Forward observers in the army don't all run around using sniper rifles to simply scout or zoom in. We are an anti-bandit group. My entire group can attest to that. We've saved more lives than you have or will. That rifle is extremely rare isn't it? We've ran into Whitelisted medics before. They weren't armed to the teeth like you. More like running around with a hatchet yelling "FRIENDLY". Not only that their name usually state's "<Name> Medic (Friendly)". I assume you use it to use the night vision? I do the same thing as you guys at times but i always switch to pistol when im done using the rifle. The only difference is that i don't QQ and will call people bandits if they shoot me because i'm using my rifle for the scope. Rifle is a PVP weapon and will always carry blood along with it. So far, we've won every single battle, even against hackers, when it came down to Assaults, LMGs, MGs, and Explosives. It just takes one sniper with a ghillie suit to suppress 12 of us. The sniper doesn't even have to have good aim nor a good rifle. Our 6 vehicles won't protect us either. Just shows the extreme danger snipers pose and their intent. -

We have played this game for nearly a month and not getting attached to your gear is a good rule to live by at the start but when u play with 10-15 guys and we pick each up after death.. Its not really the same.. If you ever experience it you will understand. And its not the fact of the gear like we said.. we don't care if it gets looted.. But when people like this can destroy your base vehicles and the experience of all the players here in a few seconds it really is hurting the game. -
I'll try to make it short. We had a van, followed the coastroad, found a boat. Spent 50 minutes driving to the skulia thing island AND FOUND THE CHOPPER. Hurray, we boat'ed back to the mainland, 2 man went to Elektro, one went back to the island and secured chopper. After we got the stuff, we went back, radio'd our mate to meet us at the coast BAM he got sniped mid-sea. Lack of time, we log off. Few hours later we go back in, our third mate confirms (respawned nearby) that server has swimming (without dropping) enabled. He went over and secured choppr again (with an axe). We swam over as well, integrated the first chopper parts, only a few windows missing, fuel leak prevented us from effectively starting. ~2 hours later and 2 more trips we gathered more supplies and some fuel (without incidents, hurays). Awesome moment to lift off with the repaired chopper :3 We landed close to the spot we found our boat at (and had left the van). Van was gone. Meh, we got a chopper! We made our way inland to a semi-remote fuel-source close to open field. Landed chopper and started filling and filling and filling "VAN AND QUAD INCOMING!" Since they were directly heading at us, we opened fire. Oh hell, M240 (mounted), M107 and an AK... Quad took medium damage, driver dead, van exploded in an instant. Then, during looting&securing, we got under unidentified gunfire again. Presumably somebody with a assault rifle from north. only a few minor hits on chopper, no wounds. One guy made his way north, trying to pinpoint the attacker, chopper made his way off into safety, 2 remaining grabbed the quad and went on. Some minutes later, the loner meets up with the chopper in a remote clearing and suddenly LAG BUMP CRIIIIIEK. Enginedamage. We got lucky the chopper didn't explode. We had enough stuff left in the chopper and got it fixed up again. Whilst heading for our HQ camp, the quad decided to show some stunts. 2-3 saltos on random occasions, luckyly without damage. However, when we passed a railroad we suddenly head-bumped into the ground. Quad near instantly catched fire, driver managed to run off just in time, co-driver instadropped to 400 blood and died next to the Quad as it exploded. Derp. Now, driver started looting our fallen teammate (he had a M107) and ... "SErver restart in 3 minutes. Server restart in 1 Minute!" 10 seconds later the server shut down. Chopper managed to land in time, we are yet unaware what things got saved and pray for the best. PS: Server had announced a restart within 15 minutes. 45 minutes now and counting. Given the past days events and the fact we stole the van from a campsite (and later on escaped a chase), we STRONGLY suspect we have met the same guys I've told ya about on the other page... and given they had all vehicles... We're currently making up they may have been admins and now rageshutdown'ed the server :3 Right now we're making up fun ideas how to use the chopper. Probably a shuttle flight service for unarmed newbies? :§ PSPS: Next day, server is still down :/ Now, guess we have to search ourselves a new server/chopper.

Our clan, we play together whenever we play. Have specific roles and ranks. Learn how each other plays repair up vehicles etc. It's just a organised group of friends.

Yeah it was my first major time with vehicles involved, what my theory is, is that due to the server not being fully restarted and only the mission being restarted, the vehicles should be back after the next server restart? The other problem is that i can't remember if i saved any of the vehicles on my travels but il soon find out! -
Hackers and Ruining the game play experience

So basically our camp of 4 sets of tents and 4 vehicles all set apart by about 300/400 meters were blown up in about 2 seconds in a simultaneous explosion. This has to be the work of a hacker as the tents and vehicles were too spread for a single grenade and them all exploding at the same time meant it couldn't be a chain reaction of the vehicles. Are people working on removing the exploits in the game and do we have a current eta.. This one experience has really hurt our team and made a few not want to play after we worked so hard.. We did not mind people finding it and looting it and taking vehicles.. But when they are destroyed by someone for fun. To make it worse our server host had a problem with the ACP log in and we still cant get to restart the servers, Knowing our gear is gone and our vehicles are destroyed we really wanna know if there is to be a fix to this problem. -

Must be your first day with vehicles. You have to save them wherever you want them to be. Otherwise, they will revert to the previous location they were at before the restart. It's also possible that it's just the restart bug, and they will re-appear on next restart. -
looking for a (somewhat)mature/fun group to run around with. I've done most of what the mod has to offer solo (banditry, boring ass sniping, "survival", vehicles, etc.) but looking for a group to go on (mis)adventures with now. I've died alot and lost plenty of "good" gear so dying isn't a big deal, and is usually pretty funny. i usually play sometime around 4:00pm - 1:00am est (GMT-5?). I have vent, TS, and Mumble NOT interested in the following: snipefest 2012 groups coastal town CoD heros vehicle hoarding map edge nazis dupers/hackers/ etc. anyone super attached to gear ultra-hardcore try-hards (it's a game...) Aside from the above, I'm down for pretty much everything else. raiding AF's for gear, building up a vehicle or two (not just to leave at the map edge all day), hunting snipers camping the coast, maybe a small base camp, some banditry if we're in the mood, etc. If you're interested in generally having a good time and not treating this mod like a job/CoD drop me a PM I'd be happy to play.

As long as i can respawn when i have less than 3000 blood (id rather die than search for matches if i don't have them yet to get cooked meat) and when i have a broken leg, then i'm happy. respawning over and over to get to a good location is a waste of server load, no questions asked. I would very much like to have side chat back. DayZ at the moment is a harcore game of LONERS unless you are playing in a clan and i'm getting tired of playing as a mute. it would be nice to simply chat in game, never mind the game mechanics. I totally disagree with having weapons at the spawn. i think rather than weapons they should just impliment a proper melee system into the standalone where you can twat zombies across the head to knock them over (dealing very little damage) just so you have time to run away while they get back up again. It does suck being totally defenceless, but having weapons at the spawn kind of takes the piss. If a clan has managed to repair and claim all the vehicles on a server, kudos to them, they earned it fair and square. if you want it, better go find where they left it and steal it.

I do wonder if they keep a log of your character's lives, or if they reset a single data row when you die with default Items/Location/etc Your method would definitely be easier to implement if they keep your "old lives" as they could just roll that life back to "alive" or restore your old location. Either way, no matter how it is "attacked" i agree with you 100% that this should be a focus in the near future. Right behind getting inventory/vehicles to save correctly and consistently.

This. The problem is once survival and loot-acquiring are no longer a challenge and when you don't need to establish more camps or find more vehicles, there is really not much else to do besides kill people, and that's just not realistic for a game that considers itself a simulator of a post-apocalyptic world. There would be bandits yes, but not hoards of people saying "let's go murder folks for the hell of it" not out of self-defense, not to take their stuff, just for fun. A zombie apocalypse might make people turn into bandits to survive, but not serial killers. People don't like to think of this as a game, but you know what? It's still being played by gamers. And gamers seek entertainment, first and foremost. So they are going to seek the most fun options. Right now, for a game that prides itself on freedom and choice, there is only one choice once you reach that point in the game: find and kill people or just sit around with all the gear/food/vehicles you've collected in your camp and wait for something interesting to happen. Which one do you think people consider the most fun? Many see that ahead of time and just go straight to the killing, bringing their BF3/CoD mentality and are treating it as just another shooter. Just to reiterate (because people will no doubt say it anyway), I don't have a problem with getting killed. It's only happened a few times, and it was never a big deal to me. I just want the game to be all it can be, and not just another shooter. I can go play BF3 for that. There is hope though, the game has lots of potential (which is why we're all here), and future updates will hopefully bring more features to flesh out the game, and bring this closer to the post-apocalyptic world simulator that we all want (bandits and survivors alike).

Me and 9 of my real life friends have been playing on this server on and off for about a week. And we have done quite well for ourselves, gathered some vehicles, gotten ourselves set up with a good camp, with a good location and everything we could ever need when it comes to weapons. The last day, has been filled with admins feeling hurt that we have been able to raid their camps, steal their vehicles, and generally excelling them in combat. As a result the server suddenly became completely impossible to play on, constant abuse from admins, getting kicked out of nowhere. Often in the middle of a firefight, and hacking, mortars flying down, explosions appearing out of nowhere, teleporting etc. Would be nice if someone could look at the logs and sort out the server, as we've grown quite fond of it, although, if the server is being runned by admins that have no busniess running a server. We can always find a new server. Thanks in advance for checking into this! Regards, Dewie!

Hey all, I was thinking about the in-game tents that we can find. In the dayz survivor video a tent camp is shown with 2 different tents. Link is on the dayzmod homepage! My idea at this time obviously is that there are 2 different tents, the standard one we have now and a (more rare) bigger one that can be found. Since there is a second tent in the video there must be a designed one out there that can be used for this. The standard tents we have now have 10 weapon/tool slots, 50 item slots and 8 bag slots. (correct me if I'm wrong though). The bigger one i was thinking could have 15 weapon/tool slots, 75 item slots and 12 bag slots. and a different look ofcourse. Also on a side note I would love to see how many slots there are still available. Like a bagpack shows u how much room u still have left. Maybe an interface like the player inventory interface of some sort would come in handy? Let me know what everyone thinks about this. I myself have overheard allot of players who would like to see what still can be stored (for tents aswell as vehicles). Thanks for reading, Memphista

Sorry if this has been brought up, I searched only quickly and didn't find anything. A few friends of mine had the idea that only servers with a certain amt of people spawn the good/rare loot. Like, there needs to be 20(or whatever #) people to spawn Heli Crashes or Loot in barracks and so forth. This will prevent people from finding low servers and bum rushing the good stuff. It will also prevent admins and servers from locking out people and cleaning house because theres no point now (can do all vehicles as well) Again, if this is redundant, lock the shit out of this thread or delete it. But I didn't have time to do an intense search of the suggestion box.

Squad.xml has nothing to do with DayZ. It's for squad use "imagine that" and the decal just shows up on the side of some vehicles and in the mission briefing window/player list tab. It's perfectly ok for you to set that up.

First I'd like to say your signature has an awesome quote in it. :D I agree with your points! I personally think it would make survival more fun and make the incentive to find vehicles! How many of us are guilty of hording? I have like 8 meat steaks in my back pack + 8 cans of food plus obscene amounts of gear I rarely use. The downside to this is that it would make travelling these HUGE maps much more of a chore/grind. It is already pretty tough to make long treks. Maybe if there would more cars/bikes in the game then it could balance out.

Database is supposed to remove all tents and vehicles out of bounds after a short while of not being activated. -

Unfortunately guys, this Ural and pickup were stolen from UGF on US 415. These brilliant guys made a fensed in base at Devil's Castle. It was just way too easy to snatch the stuff. I've managed to keep it safe for three days, but as of this morning both vehicles are now gone. They really were loaded too, couldn't believe it myself. I counted every single high-tiered weapon in the game, minus the NV FAL, and the M4A3 CCO, and M107. some multiples. It's believed these guys dupe their items. As for the SVD Camo, all we have on us now are what we could carry. That includes an extra pair of NVGs, one L85A2, one M249 SAW, AS50, M4A1 CCO SD, M9SD and sufficient ammo for each. I'm still willing to part with one of these in combination with the NVG's. Add me on steam - Dynameaux, and I'll get back to you tonight. To the guys claiming I hacked, or saying I was setting up a trap, f@#$ you.

The group that sSnakeyes and I are a part of had what we believe is that exact scenario happen to us since a helo was spotted flying in the area twice in about 30 minutes last night and we lost two vehicles shortly after the first spotting of the helo in flight over our traditional AO. Anyway I voted no on the stingers. -

We just used our 2 bicycles to scan the top edge of the map.. this is our find: 2xBus, 2xTractor, Hatchback, Bicycle, URAL, V3S, S1203, ATV and 4 main tent camps We drove the vehicles off of the map for em to despawn and emptied out every single tent.. xD hope this stops hoarding for at least a week :D they were way, way off from the main part of the map.. 5km out from any cities or buildings.
