i think it would be kinda neat since arma is a millitary simulator, and is all about squad controlling, to have possible rare npc's that can be found and fall under your list of squad mates. Then if you find extra weapons etc, you can arm them but the downfall is obviously that they will require food and drinks as well, plus it would be kind of neat to have them drive vehicles for you, or carry stuff for you. Alot of people play solo and i think that with this element, it would make things more interesting since it's so hard to find friendlies to begin with, What does everyone else think? I'm also talking about this as being a RARE thing to come by NPC survivors, but would be neat!

We noticed it close to 2 weeks ago. We thought our camp had been raided because our 2 atvs, hatchback and van disappeared but tents were intact. A few items were missing from tents so we thought we were raided. We packed up some stuff and headed further north. we placed some tents and moved our most valuables things north, We got luck and found a truck and 2 atvs and a motorcycle. We thought things were good and then we noticed alot fo activity around our camp again and decided to move before it was found. So we moved east and we had a good setup. vehicles lasted about 2 days and then they were gone, we though we were raided but this time we kept vehicles empty and all the good stuff was in tents. We couldn't fathome why someone would steal 4 empy vehicles and not fill them first. We thought it might be hackers summoning vehicles becuse the server got bad for awhile.. So we were just gonna let the server run out and play on another. But we found the same thing happening on other vilayer servers. Since returning back to our server wehave found a atv that disappeared the next day and bicycles and other small vehicles that just keep disappearing after restarts. So we started asking questions to the vilayer guys but not getting anywhere. So your not alone :) REC5| Fyrex

High Grade Server - Needs Population!! 60 CAP!
rybo replied to soulraiser's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Nice a broadcast for all script kiddies!!!! All welcome! Need to keep your server on the D/L or you might as well cancel your server fee's...Kiss all your vehicles and camp sites goodbye. All BS aside ill get me and my boys to try it out for yeah. If it can stay hacker free for more than 30mins. -
Not really. We found the vehicle last week, lost it last week hours later. Obviously the server has since been reset and only today have I gone to look for vehicles as im on the coast, and my camp is 200km away. I just cant find any. Reset the server earlier as I dont have regular restarts, I literally cant find any vehicles in their spawn points. How long is the delay?

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch
xximrtwoixx replied to JulieMeyers's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There is already a bandit uniform, Military Weapons, Giant Back Pack NVGs Friends Vehicles If you see players with the above they will kill you, them having a hood on doesn't make a difference. Everyone will become a bandit because everyone needs to defend themselves, unless you have a designated killer in your group. -
Request ban for Tackles After some hardcore hacking (i wasnt recording at that time, but he did amazing stuff like making vehicles explode remotely and aimbotting), i met the guy again. He wanted to "help me". So i frapsed while he spawned a gps, a map and a tractor for me. Date: 03/08/2012, 20:48:55 Server: 85.236.105.39:2302 Proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6pUh_fjpHQ

I think there should be some more armed military vehicles, at least a humvee with a .50 cal. One or 2 per server

Each time the issue of hacking is brought up, about half the people shrug it off "I've never seen any hacking". It's such a common theme, people denying it exists because they personally haven't seen it. Or to a lesser extent, admitting it's a problem, but diminishing how serious of a problem it actually is because they think they haven't seen it or have only seen it once or twice. That's because the vast majority of hacking isn't the thunderdome, or the whole server being nuked. It's someone giving themselves ESP (all players appear with arrows above them, visible from anywhere), god mod (you think they didn't die because you missed or it lagged), or spawning weapons and gear. Or teleporting around. Or vehicles. There's loads more. All practically imperceptible to the average player, but I can 100% guarantee your gaming experience has been sullied by it. As you become more experienced in the game you'll see just how common it is, the people you kill being back in 5 minutes with the same gear. Invisible people shooting you when no one was around. The 'hacker loadout' ( .50 cal, M4A1 silenced, NVG, rangefinder, wookie outfit). Some hackers are happy just to have the best equipment, others aren't happy unless they're playing in god mode or nuking the entire server. Most are the former, but they still ruin DayZ - and so do you by denying just how widespread the problem is now.

M9SD: great for when you have to take out a few zombies and don't want to alert nearby players or zombies in the process. MK 48: by far the best PvP weapon for mid/close range. does insane damage, is very accurate, has a great sight and 100 rnd mags. Against zeds i would pick the M4A1 CCO SD for obvious reasons. AS50: one hit, one kill against players and insane damage against vehicles with NATO rounds. Compared to the M107 the zoom is inferior but it's quieter (against other players) and has far less recoil.

Vehicles have a spawn delay, they dont spawn instantly after they get destroyed or a restart, to prevent the "abuse" that you just clearly admitted to ;).
-
Thanks, top help. Although not what I meant regarding vehicle spawning. I have been using dayzdb map and I know all the locations. But I was wondering more about the mechanics and circumstances under what vehicles can spawn. For example, is each vehicle capped to X per server. Is there a cool down time before a new one will spawn, do vehicles ever spawn in perfect condition etc?

Been playing for the last week or two (downloaded just before the big hype) and absolutely love it. No game gets me going as much as making a dart through sniper bullets to get to the supermarket. Having said that, there are obviously serious flaws. Keeping Up To Date With Devs Basically I was just wondering on the best way to keep up with devs, there projects for future versions, and there opinions on matters within DayZ. Do they tweet or blog somewhere like ol' Notch? HIVE? Sorry for being dumb. But when I hear this term, am I meant to assume that people are talking about a database that works over numerous servers? (The ability to take items across servers etc) Is There Public Knowledge on Vehicle and Crash Site Spawning Apart from knowing that crash sites spawn on fields and change on server restarts and loot does not respawn without a restart either, I know little about this. Is there any more info that would help me be more efficient in finding vehicles and crash sites. I know they are rare, but ive only found 1 car at a spawn point. How Confident Can We Be That Going Standalone will Reduce Hackers Luckily, I am yet to die from hackers, although I have been teleported and one of my mates found hundreds of parachuting cows in the air once. The problems seem to come from Arma rather than anything Rocket at co have not done properly. Even when its standalone, wont it run on the same engine? Thus still having many of the problems it already has. Is there an ETA for Standalone? Standard question :) And Lastly.. Are there any plans in place to make it easier to manage a server. At the moment this forum is riddled with reports of hackers having more power than server owners because of lack of admin functionality and support. I am part of a community (NV Clan) that originates from GE, a previous dominant CSS community and 'Pro' Team (Lan Goers). If there are plans in place, it is extremely likely we will go and get a 50 slot but dont see much point if we cant control the quality of the service we can provide? Thanks for taking the time to read! That last point being said, you are welcome to check us out if your into the community side of gaming, just google us. We play and host various games, not just DayZ.

Hacking, Hacking, Hacking, Hacking, Hacking...
ZomboWTF replied to Gumpnstein's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There are three things making dayZ way too easy and unplayable: 1)Rapant hacking (if you never ebcountered hackers before, get on a server with more than 2 people) 2)Duping and glitched tents 3)Unlimited ammo This three things turn the normal gameplay of dayZ: I spawn, i collect stuff from a town with loot spawns and head north, where the better stuff is, maybe i find a low tier gun, maybe nothing into: I spawn, i found a camp with 25 ghillies and L85 + AS50 with ammo once, i still know where it is, i get the stuff, and have full equip after 10 minutes and have nothing to do than searching for vehicles When searching in the night, i get sniped from 800 meters away with a .50 gun (no NVG, dark night, so probably a thermal hacked weapon) -
Is Mountain Dew bad luck?
The_Albatros replied to "Lost" Alice's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Once I was with my squad running around Black Lake and we found a camp with 8 tents, 1 URAL, 1 V3S, 2 Bicycles, and a UH-1H. We approach and I spot a ghillie guy going through a tent, I take him out with one shot and loot the body, find Mountain Dew in his bag. We loot the tents, max out our gear, blow the vehicles and take the Huey. We fly around just fucking around, we I spot 3 snipers on the hill NW of Elektro. Due to incompetent gunners we don't take any out and they fire a single shot fucking up the engine. We're too high to emergency land, so I tell everyone to bail. First guy bails early, is hit by helicopter rotors, I bail safely into the forest and last two guys don't even get out of the helicopter. After hiding in the forest, the 3 ghillie guys run down to search the bodies and I shoot one with my AS50. Magically the other two vanish into thin air. Pussies. I then loot the body, another mountain dew. I run to a vantage point of both Elektro and the crash and spot a black guy crouch running to the crash, apparently the server had name tags on and his name was Tupac. I fire a shot and the bullet passes straight through his backpack. He stops, I fire again, he takes two steps forward, I fire again, he suddenly stops and bullet goes infront of him, then he magically disappears as well. My friends arrive back to loot their gear, and we're down at the crash when suddenly bullets start whizzing by. I turn around, spot a black guy, and well if it isn't Tupac again about 20m away. I shot him 4 times with my G17 just for the laughs and left him bleeding in the field. He ALT+F4'd after about 20s. So to sum all that up, in my experience, having Mountain Dew is bad luck and will cause your helicopter to be shot down in one shot and make everyone you engage ALT+F4. -
Apophis, Its nice to hear a mature response to the accusations made against TG by our group. I can assure you that I have not misrepresented our activities or the activities observed on your server in any way while playing on US 137. Additionally, I did make blanket statements about TG as a whole and for that I apologize. I am referring only to the majority of your active DayZ player base that we encounter when we play on US 137. We in fact have our own server and are extremely vigilant when it comes to banning hackers and disconnecters. Yes there are times when we suspected people of hacking because they seemed to know the location of everything and were going on massive killing sprees. But unless we had solid 100% proof of hacking or exploiting, we didn't ban them. This is DayZ and its a small sandbox world. Experienced players know where to look and experienced groups can decimate a server in a matter of hours. These are things you already know. TG may not have a "main camp" but there were several very large camps that we can only assume are maintained by the dominant clan on the server. Also, during the initial raids, it was only us and TG members on the server with perhaps 3 or 4 non-tagged players. So it would stand to reason that when were fired on whilst raiding a large camp, it was a TG camp. What exactly was observed that was a bannable offense? We do not disconnect during firefights EVER. In fact, Fidel and I have been playing on this server for a long time and have had several times where we were bested by you guys. We left with our tails between our legs and lived to fight another day. I don't understand what your members could be basing these ban claim on to start with. YES we raided camps. YES we shot and killed many TG members. YES we kept sniper positions on camps and vehicles. YES we hunted down players in the woods for sport. While this may not be your play style, these are not bannable offenses by any stretch of the imagination. If anything, our rivalry should make the whole DayZ experience more fun for you. We always joke about the DayZ lacking endgame, but then we realized that for some players, beating our group and killing us would be the endgame. So this keeps the whole experience fresh and exciting. If you are accusing us of hacking or cheating, I would LOVE to see some server logs for that since there is no way they can exist. I was banned in the middle of the day when I wasn't even on the server. Same with some others. We even have one guy you banned who only just started playing and doesnt even group with us on missions. He just asks us questions and runs around on the coast getting killed a lot. What was the reason for that? He is of no threat to you and is definitely not a hacker. He barely knows how to use a compass, lol. That was really crossing the line imo, because that shows you issued bans to everyone in our teamspeak as he was not wearing clan tags. The teamspeak we use is actually owned by a group of players who mostly play BF3. All of this being said... we STILL have not been given a real reason for the bans. Just generalisations dancing around broad strokes. No real proof. Where are the screenshots? Where are the videos? Where are the server logs? From where I am sitting it appears the bans are based on hearsay from upset players. As an admin you should have confronted us first if you suspected foul play. You know as well as I do that everyone is quick to point the hacking finger when they get killed or robbed. TG members are no exception, especially when you have members with questionable credibility and honor; alt-f4s, server restarts, etc. Given the disorganized nature of your DayZ division, perhaps you should consider who let wear your clan tags. I will be posting a ban appeal on your forums to have our bans removed. But am going to keep our admin abuse report open as well because I still believe we have been wronged and I want this to be investigated. Its getting almost impossible to find a server with legit admins anymore and I am just plain sick of the bs most of the admins give us. We were banned from a server the other day because the admin was too incompetent to read his own server logs. Banned 20+ people for things he misread in the logs and crap he skimmed on forums. If you are truly dedicated to running a legit server, you will investigate your own admins and check your logs against our players yourself. I would not be making such big deal out of this if it wasn't justified.

Hi guys, we have a few vehicles. When we pack items into vehicles and restarts the server, these items will not be saved. We have saved the vehicles. The tents to keep items even after restarts. can anyone help us? regards marv

Wouldn't hurt for more vehicles. Doesn't even have to be military, because even after the apocalypse, some civilian cars would still be working, just needing repair. +1

Too Long: Don't wanna read: - Create ways for guns to disapear other than the death in the middle of nowhere (by them wearing off or other possibilities). - Erase the heavy snipers from the game (Not "standard" ones) - Reduce accuracy/increase recoil of guns to improve gameplay and firefights and to simulate the "Survivor, not soldier" aspect.. I've been thinking a bit about the game as it currently is. I know features should be coming around someday, and I hope it's rather soon. As glitchy as this game is, it's still great. 1) Everything but the Guns Sink. Anyway, like many other posts, I'll complain a bit at the availability of "High end" gear/weapons that are too frequent. It's like in MMOs: Gold is earned at a fast rate, but for the in-game economy to remain good there exists "gold sinks" where gold has to be wasted. Except in this game it's guns. It's relatively easy to find a good gun when you know where to look. The only way a gun can "Disappear" is for the carrier to die in the middle of nowhere by "Natural" causes, and thanks (?) to snipers that kill for fun and don't claim loot. Sometimes, you just find a better gun and keep it so you dump the old one. But overall, the numbers of guns keeps increasing and increasing. They are kept in tents, vehicles, and generally they just change pockets, but don't go to oblivion. Furthermore, they are quite easy to keep fed with ammo for the standard ones (Stanag, .45, AK 30., 9mm mags) even when not counting the exploits to refill almost empty magazines while for harder to find (Crash sites) weapons it might be a bit harder, but for that you keep a plentiful ammo gun in your pockets, and use the special gun more scarcely. What I'd like to see is a way for either guns to become unusable (Small lifebar that goes down the more you use it, like the ammo count. A standard AK would last around 3500 shots, while a M16 2700. You could find already damaged guns) so you actually have to throw them away when they break down AND/OR much tighter loot tables AND/OR more varied weapon calibre so mags for a single category of weapon would be more scarce. 2) Friendlies in Cherno? I think, for all of us who ever shot rifles with scopes, even for a try, that it's way harder than in game. Using anti-materiel rifles while crouched, for example, is quite absurd. Even aiming is really easy, with barely any sway. With just a good eye, I can in game down a straight moving target 500-700m away without too much trouble, even without a rangefinder. Combined with the fact that 50cal rifles exist in two variants, both relatively easy to use, find (Every two downed helicopter I can find one, with plentiful ammo) and down a target in one shot... These are out of scale for the game. Sure, they could be use, as their name would suggest, as anti-materiel, but the chance of finding a moving vehicle during the day are very close to nil, so the guns are used against infantry. Here, I would simple remove the one-shot, completely overkill, sniper rifles that are out of scale. Other sniper rifles, like the DMR, might be somehow "Skill-less" too, but there need to be snipers, otherwise people would not be able to do overwatch duty, or simply keep people nervous. Ideally, there should be more bolt action, and less semi-auto, military grade weapons, but here comes 3) Overall, sniping is a bit too easy and just a paradise for grievers, as it's easy to just raise the E-pen with chains of kills, rince and repeat, but they are needed in the game. 3) Survivor or rambo? I don't know for you guys, but I'm a random joe in real life. I aim like a drunken sailor at a static target barely 100m away, when Idle, calm, and well rested/fed. Well, I might exaggerate a bit, let's just say that I do a 9/10, in those situations, with an assault rifle, and that's when knowing the basic drills. But it looks like our survivors/bandits, barely a minute after a few Km hike on elevated terrain, in cold weather, stressed, deprived of rest and sleep, with barely any food (a regime of raw meat, cold fart bean cans, lake water and soda cans), possibly wounded, high on painkillers and morphine, are able to have a very stable aim when standing and crouched, with a heavily weighted backpack. Prone, I can understand. But in the other positions, aiming should be terrible. Recoil should hit hard for most guns, not only the AKM, and long range sniping quite troublesome. The survivors aren't Soldiers or Warriors: They are guys that have been washed ashore. In this game/mod/alpha, whatever you want to call it, the weapons do "Realistic" (less so with the latest ARMA patch and damage reductions considering the survivors' blood amounts) amounts of damage to human targets. When you combine that with "Super aim", the PvP aspect is really all about being the first to aim and click, as it's just easy to shoot and kill (Not including Disconnecters, but we know the issue will be solved someday). If aiming was slightly (not dramatically) harder, firefights would become more intense, with people able to return fire. Engagements would waste more ammo, and there would me more risks. If it becomes more risky to attack someone, people would be less prone to shootin each other at first sight, disposing of the threat in an instant. Only people with actual agressive wills would shoot on sight, causing the bandits to exist as they should: A cast of players that keep the others afraid; on their toes. Against Zeds, they are already easy to dispatch by just running to the cosest building/hill anyway. Sure, it's annoying and counter intuitive, but I hope something will be done to "Fix" them eventually so they become a real threat, not just a mild annoyance. Well, that's sort of all for now. Wanted to write a 4) about the weapons damage / bullet, but apart from AK 74s stupid nerf, 9mm "more than one clip to kill a zed" and M1911 <<< Revolver due to poor accuracy, a lee enfield that barks more than bites and used to give low gears a change against high gears, shotguns that were already short range compared to reality when they actually go quite far but have been further nerfed, and One-shot easy to use snipers, there isn't much to say. Just want opinions about this wall of text, and the gameplay implications. Note if you read to that line: Good job; the others: Go on trolling as you usually do when walls of text hurt you heads, and comment the usual rubbish of "I have an opinion about something I didn't even bother to read".

Still possible to place Camps outside the Map?
The_Albatros replied to Growbian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've seen many hacked server maps of vehicles (around 30), and can confirm not a single vehicle or tent was ever outside the border. If you're looking for camps, check South-West corner, on the mountain West of Kamenka Forest East of Black Lake North of Pobeda Dam North of Petrovka West of Lopatino Forest North of Rify (the shipwreck north of Berezino) And pretty much the North and West borders, NE corner usually has a large camp with vehicles. -
Still possible to place Camps outside the Map?
Growbian posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was wondering if it's still possible to place Camps / Vehicles outside the Border!? I know it was told that it's not possible anymore, respectively that they would be wiped. But rocket said in that recent Videointerview with Machinima that he has to look at that Problem!? So whats the case now? -
UK 105 - props must be given when deserved
[email protected] replied to Zambeezee's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hey Zambeezee, it was me who pulled that stunt by counter stealing the V3S. You managed to kill one of my friends in the Ghillie, then he rage quit out the game. Challenge Accepted. I decided to go in alone. After shooting the wheels and noticing the vehicle wasn't stopping, I thought for sure that you guys would make a getaway with both the vehicles. Then one of you got out the V3S to shoot me I guess. That's when I frantically jumped in and drove off. By the way, was one of your friends on an ATV? Because I smashed head on into a guy on an ATV in a Ghillie with a DMR. Then he aborted after I had finished smashing the ATV (with him on it). -
Need Medical Assistance? We can help.
trooper911 replied to Dr Wasteland MD's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Bandits killed: 1 Reward: Vehicles to add to my collection! It was weird though. I was riding my bicycle along the west (as you do) and noticed a white car. I went up to it and suddenly this guy in a ghillie suit pops up infront of me (must've just logged on) and I panicked, ejected from the bike and unloaded my AS50 into him before he could even aim at me. I wasn't guilty at all when I saw he was a bandit :P I'll probably be on for a bit later to help some people in need. -
Still possible to place Camps outside the Map?
[email protected] replied to Growbian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
He's not exactly making himself super clear Anton, but he says he wants to extend his camp-finding outside the border. As in, he wants to know if it's possible for other people to horde them out there, to know whether he should bother looking out there to find horded vehicles and camps. -
I also noticed this morning that X-hairs was turned on. I wonder if the admin was in that group and he turned it on so they can scan for their vehicles more easily. That would be BS lol

I've looked through my logs several times after seeing vehicles spawning (like 5 buses in 10 seconds), being thunderdomed and being sent off to Misty Peak (like thunderdome but the ground is covered in bear traps) with basically nothing in the scripts.log I see everyone being transported but not who initialized the move. If they're injecting code, like I've watched in a youtube vid the other day, they aren't running a script for BE to see.
