I was thinking the same. Vehicles should be more common but much harder to fix up. So people instead of killing, stealing for the vehicle, they'll fight over fuel and parts. The chopper, especially, should be much harder to fix, I managed to find and fix one, alone lol I also want deeper, more complex "repair" mechanics. Like someone could be "skilled" at fixing vehicles. I'm no way talking about mmo skill crap or so, but something like RedPower/IndustrialCraft mod from Minecraft. Instead of the dull mouse wheel/repair the vehicle, you should actually know what the fuck you're doing in some kind of complex egineering puzzle game lol Not sure people will see what I mean though. -
I am a experienced player in dayz. have played for about two months with playing time being almost everyday. I had a group but have lost touch with them. I know the map pretty well and have experience using all the guns in the game and can drive all vehicles and am pretty good at flying helicopters. Looking for group to or clan to run with.

Not true. We've played enough that we know to save tents and vehicles-- Even to the point where we're kinda neurotic about it. Good thought though. -
spotting is essential. Know the tools that the hacker's use and report unusual sightings to educate people on the forums. Here's what i have "learned" they can spawn animals and vehicles and can be invisible at times apart from the usual thunderdome festivals. They can track your movements and key presses. I can't be too sure about hackers spawning themselves as animals but have seen the odd sighting of goats and cows silently stalking you only to disappear when you get suspicious of their behaviour. It's the first time i had witnessed the most frightening event in dayz ever - a goat moving its head and not its body. p.s. Keep an eye out for those crows.

I have several questions about where to place tents: How far away do people normally place them away from loot / areas-of-interest? 1km? 2 km? 5km? Do you need vehicles to make use of tents, because they need to be placed so far away? What types of items do experienced players normally play in tents? Guns? Ammo? Only rare items? How much room do people normally have in their inventory when they make scavenging runs? Enough to fit a primary weapon? As always, thanks for the help.

Hi and thanks for answering. :) Because I'm playing there with many friends, and that we have tents and vehicles there. Also, I'd feel bad asking friends to move servers because some admin used his power to gain advantage. After some Mumble talk, admin unbanned me. Forget it and again thanks.

What happens to vehicles that have been saved while destroyed? Do they respawn in their own spawn location after a server restart? -

Be sure to save your tents and they will *almost always* come back within the next two server restarts. But not always. And I agree that it's frustrating, but we can find solace, I think, in assuming that this is one of the few things Rocket and co. should be able to fix. Side note, I've found vehicles more reliably retain loot. -

I really don't care about new bandit heads, or "good guy" heads, or dog companions- Just fix the tents. I'm tired of tents wiping items, duping (empty and full) or simply disappearing. . Its essentially impossible for a new player to gain any ground, and after 1-2 months of play my friends are quitting because of this. We even tried vehicles to store gear. Nope. Server restart, vehicle disappears. So pretty please. With sugar on top. Quit focusing on dog companions and fix the tents. Thanks.

The Devs DID do daily updates on their progress patching the graphical issues, that has however stopped now because of everyone getting their panties in a bunch. But seeing as how you do not have to go in to any of the areas with static bodies or the military installations that give the glitches. If you choose to do this anyway stop moaning, we've done Berezino, airfield, balota, cherno, elektro and many of the others today with 8 people. Shift + num(-) flush works for some of us after repeating 10-20 times, others need to restart the game or their comp. And if someone in your team cant completely get rid of them, just put them on overwatch on your vehicles. I mean seriously, yes it is a shitty situation when you cant see diddlysquat but they are working on it and going all Chuck Intrawebs on the forums aint going to solve anything. -

Okay, but would the data (e.g. tents, vehicles, gear) be moved over to the new IP/Port? The reason getting this server now is such a big deal is that we've had a lot of our members grow very interested in the game in a short time - and we're all spread out over a variety of servers. They all want to get settled down on one server to be able to play together, kill each other, etc as soon as possible :P They've already been waiting a while, so I'd like to have something up and running as quickly as possible :) -

When we switch servers, we all pick different ones and check the surrounding vehicle spawns that are marked on http://dayzdb.com/map#3.041.111 . and search for, basically a reason to stay on that server. With the in-game map not allowing for squad specific markers (It shows your markers to every player in the game, not just your friends), we find that the in-game map isn't safe to use, so we use that one. Since we can't use in-game markers, that map allows us to be like "I'm north about 150m of the high-value barn west of X-town" That's how we've found all of the broken down vehicles (except the bus near the hacked vehicle cache, and the helicopter on the island (which isn't even marked) were pure chance). The UAZ and ATV cache (which we still think was hacked) i just happened to see while passing along on a road -
I think adding smell to the game similar to the sight and sound meters would be a good addition for more realism. Zeds will crave blood and be drawn to a player that is bleeding and wreaking of it. Also after running through the woods for hours, your bound to be drenched in sweat. Not to mention living in the forrest in survival mode without taking a shower or bath is bound to make some pretty stinky players. So here's what I have in mind: Players have on survivor clothes when they spawn. I think clothes packages should be found slightly more abundantly, and need to be changed on occasion when they can't be cleaned. Washing clothes. When a player has accumulated too much scent to sneak around a town without detection by zeds they should play out in the rain for some time, or jump in a pond while they fill their cantines. A good splash of some kind will reset the meter. This would give a little more purpose to playing during rainy conditions because as of now it's seems like a disadvantage (imo) to do so. Maybe also rolling and crawling on the ground should be able to cover the scents with dirt? I'm not as fond of this idea, but it's still a thought. So how often would they need to clean? A reasonable amount... Idk about the rest of you, but if it's been 2 or 3 days camping, then you can smell someone nearby. What causes stink? Blood, gutting animals, working with fuel (filling jerry cans/pour them in vehicles), eat/drink too much, running for long distances, etc. I had the idea too that perhaps certain buildings, like the hay in barns, or the maneur in dairy farms cause stink, but I'm less fond of this idea also. So what do zeds do when they smell you? Just like when they see you or hear you... they hear that dinner bell a-ringin'. How do players smell you in PvP? The best idea I have so far is for the stinky player to have the sound of flies around him, with volume and frequency based on how stinky they are. A player who hasn't washed in a day might sound like a little buzz of a fly once in awhile. Someone who is fresh clean will sound normal (silent), and someone who hasn't showered for days will sound like a dead body, attracting nearby bandits and zeds! :\ Some things should cause temporary stink that can be washed out completely, and other things like getting shot up and loosing 8,000 blood all over yourself should cause perminant staining on the clothes. It would encourage players to keep a fresh change of clothes in their packs, and also loot clothes off dead bodies that are in better condition than the ones on their own backs. Who knows if this idea catches on, maybe DayZ could even add a new inventory item of soap, or something to wash clothes with... i dunno. I just thought of this the other day and thought it'd be great for realism. So, tell me what you stink about my idea?

Great story. I haven't ever experienced any of this before, I haven't even seen an admin in a server where I've played. Guess it's better that way, you'll never know what the admins are gonna do. How the heck did you find so many vehicles though? I've played DayZ for over 100 hours now and I've only found 2 tractors, a small boat & a hacked ATV. -

Just a couple answers. 1. Anywhere not suggested by someone outside your squad. Try to find a dense forest area with low traffic. 2. http://dayzdb.com/map you can find vehicles at those locations there assuming someone hasnt grabbed it and stashed it somewhere. 3. http://dayzdb.com/map also has loot spawn information but to break it down a bit; Heli crash sites, Deer stands, Military loot spawns (Airfields for example), and Camo/Ghillies can commonly be found in the local Bars/Restaurants found in major cities. 4. A couple snipers/overwatch, someone with a CQC weapon to cover the immediate area of the snipers (and preferably with a range finder to give estimates on the fly), and the rest of the crew on assault with CQC weapons to raid the town. Hello, I've been playing this game for about 2 weeks and have a few questions on some items 1. Tents, Where is a safe location to put some? and is there a way to relocate one you put down without remember cords if you dont have a GPS? and is there any glitches i should be aware of? me and a few friends are trying to find a few to stock some supplies on 2. Vehicle, where are good locations to find decent cars or trucks that arent super dangerous to get too? and how do you repair a car? do you need to find an engine? and can ALL vehicles be repaired? also, can you store items inside vehicles? i think i've heard people saying they have but not one hundred percent sure 3. High end gear, Where are best locations to find a few GPS, Rangefinders, NVGs, Ghilles, etc. 4. Also, would are a few gun combinations for a squad of about 5-7 people to carry that would make us pretty decent at looting a town or city with little trouble? we always play on 30+ player servers and have run into a few gun fights that have no ended well and want to know a few good guns that could give us an advantage If you could answer this that would be a great help, we are decently experienced, but having a hard time getting high end geared.

1. See if the server got waypoint system enabled. And put one at a decent place. 2. There are plenty of vehicles but alot of them are probably taken. There's an offroad truck east of zelenogorsk. Yes you need to repair its wheels etc. 3. northwest airfield is my bet. 4. Have some snipers around. They can help you alot with that. -

Now that was nothing much because this link: http://dayzmod.com/f...r-read-in-here/ you gave was for server hosting... but anyways I totally agree (*sarcasm*) when he stats, "Their are only two reasons why you, as a server owner, should ban a player on your server. Those two reasons are: Malicious talk, and racism. You may not ban a user for stealing your loot, killing you, spying on you, etc." So, this means I can hack now and script anything I want in the game right? He said that a server owner can only ban for malicious talk and racism, and not for hacking/scripting/cheating. I do agree with malicious talk and racism as a ban-able offence but it is missing hacking/scripting/cheating. This still happens in any game regardless of the anti-cheat engine the game uses. Okay, so what is the big deal anyways this is suppose to be a mod off of the original ArmA 2 game. If Rocket wants to push the mod into one direction and destroy it by all means let him. This would be totally understandable if this was a new game being developed but it is just a mod that anyone can easily change if you know how to write code. I totally wish Electronic Arts (EA) and/or Digital Illusions CE (DICE) would apply the same rules to all of the servers such as there must be all maps, vehicles, and weapons in the game at all times. No exceptions, otherwise your server will get blacklisted. Last note, I would have never had been able to survive without friends/clanmates because you got teamwork, numbers, and help otherwise you are screwed surviving alone because someone will pluck you off like a fly. So Rocket really needs to fix that issue because this mod is just a PvP (barley any PvZ going on because of the bandits) and you may as well just play the base game without any mods enabled. One last thing: Rocket really need to add some sort of melee so you can defend yourself from the zombies because spawning in with only a flashlight, band-aid, and backpack is quite lame when the zombies can still hit you while you run, and even then sometimes they break your legs. So you are better off killing them instead of running. -
