Yes. Vehicles and tents are still lootable by other plays while you're offline. Think of it like real life. If you're asleep, a theif can still break into your car, home, or storage building.

Why the hell are there so many guns?
neo2157 replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree, the enemy is unarmored zombies, Anti-material rifles would be completely unnecessary for the military to use, and its not like they drive vehicles or anything. -
Persistent Server - Fed up of spending so many hours working towards a goal or finding supplies and then the server crashes on you losing all your progress? Well with the DayZ server all stat's are saved to our external database so where ever you log off, whatever you have will be keep on you next time you come back in. This means you can spend however long you want doing what you want to do. As long as you don't die during the night! Found at http://dayzmod.com/?About Needs to be fixed. I always loose hours of work to server restarts. I loose my entire inventory, usually vehicles. Always tents. They sometimes come back... if the server restarts quickly enough. mostly though, I just loose everything. It is NOT saved to an external database. or not saved quick enough.

good evening fellas sooo...since i cannot find any posts that realy contains my toughts ill be rude and post another one with a whole lot of flameqqqqqwtf...etc. as i understand it, this game is based on arma. The statement in this is, that it i9s supposed to be realistic. however, u just cant guarantee realism with a hive system dont get me wrong i dont intend to critisize the hive idea...i really like it, especially the mobility it guarantees. my concerns are about the side effects...and yes, there have been at least one brazillion posts about it. server hoppers now this realy is getting out of hands...want a cool truck? go to the spawn and log till u find it on any server..taddaaaa want some cool gear? do as listed above...taddaaaaaa wanna sneak around your enemys or just fix yourself, because you got shot and managed to log in time? serverhopping is the key! heres the solution: one server change every 4 hours or so, try to abuse that changing earlier will just result in the player constantly getting kicked from the new server. battleloggers my toughts: it is never safe to rest within a zombie apocalpyse...however, its not an option to keep players loaded all the time...that too, would be bullshit. so ill just make this short: i really like the idea of keeping the player in the game for a certain time(30 secs to 2 mins) after logging, making him vulnurable for zeds and players n shit. furthermore there should be some kind of announcement when a player decides to log out. in my opinion something like a ingame shoutout("lets get out of here") when logging, possibly in addition a log message within 100 to 300 meters around the player. to avoid abuse there would of course be the need to have a "connected" message within the same range as well. so this would really guarantee players to check thrice if they are in a safe distance to any kind of danger, making batllelogging virtually impossible(except for escapes from snipers...but w/e...they are snipers, these guys have their advantages as well). campers aside from the aws, which is ridicolusly OP and needs to be expelled from the game, the possibility of just sitting in a certain position and camping is (imo) too easy right now...since its is only a game of our present technological resources, it is insanely difficult to spot a sniper that pinned u down on a certain range. acoustics will only get u so far and with the resolution on which we are playing, finding an enemy with a ghillie suit under a bush is kinda impossible. and of course that is what it should be like...but lets at least make the sniper work for this advantage. i was thinking of maybe spawning random zombies within a hundred meter range around the sniper and then maybe slowly moving towards him... the sniper would in that case need a partner to distract/kill these zombies....maybe even outside of the viewing range of the intended vitims. im sure this idea might be hated on by you dear fellas, farming fresh starters all day erryday, chillin outside of cherno but hey....grow up ;-) carstashing lol lets our own server and then proceed to stash every single car in a huge stash, making it impossible for other players to ever have a vehicle...drive the cars? naaay thats realy lame...it might get damaged my thoughts where that we should possibly just put a mark for every vehicle on the map, that has not been driven for more then 48 hours visble for players within a 2km radius possibly to keep the search going...plus: every player can only claim one vehicle this way. and voila: u will have acces to vehicles which are just rotting away in the forest. it might, however be neccessary to at least have some parts fall apart when not used for said time...else, getting started would be too easy additionaly, the 7 days respawn time on destructed vehicles is too much...far too much...noone will ever risk a car like this... how about one day max? last thought: i realy think cars should not blow up when struck by an as50 or m107...its okay if the engine breaks and u just cant drive on, etc. but blowing up just like that will allways scare people to drive their vehicles. expect for explosives of course...but hey...whoever carries a rocketlauncher with him all the time deserves that fun and whoever manages to get a grenade close enough to a car does as well( possible nerf for m203 needed). in the other cases, the specific components would just be damaged...that way takin over a car from another group would even become more likely. TL;DR: meh..u better gettodahchoppaah and get outa here so now that was not intended to be as detailed but hey...hope it really might put you guys up to something and might even have effects in the game...one must allways have dreams. cheers

Still possible to place Camps outside the Map?
Tsyn replied to Growbian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I believe there was something said that if you place a vehicle off-map it will 'expire' in 24 hours, which will place it back in its normal spawn location. Only wimps horde vehicles off the map... -
Duping: 3/4 of High Level Gear is Duplicated
BL1P replied to dantoramandova's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Some people say the problem is part of Arma2 and cant be fixed This is false. dupeing wasn't so prevelant in earlier versions of dayz tents did not dupe items when you took them down. vehicles did not hold all items when you saved them after a restart of the server. the problem was a bi-product of a faulty update to dayz and is not a fault of arma2 -

Still possible to place Camps outside the Map?
Growbian posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was wondering if it's still possible to place Camps / Vehicles outside the Border!? I know it was told that it's not possible anymore, respectively that they would be wiped. But rocket said in that recent Videointerview with Machinima that he has to look at that Problem!? So whats the case now? -
You must be a newbie. The MK48 is the master of destruction. Terminates any zombie waves, the accuracy is 100% when you lay down, and the recoil become almost nonexcisting. The damage is also devastating and the magazine has a capacity of 100.DMR is handy when its night since you can use nightvision... AS50 with nato rounds can take out vehicles in a single shot. Perfect against vehicles and against human targets at range. Useless at night, since you won't be able to use nightvision with it.

[GSUA] clan spawning helis, vehicles on US 1218 Virginia (Video Soon)
Coll replied to Bukethead's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
What GSUA members were spawning these vehicles there isn't really much proof or information here to use. Also what was the player list I dont see that either. -
The sad part is we've lost gear to some of the better TG players quite a few times playing on the server. Rather than cry about the spirit of the game, we applaud the skill that landed an 800 yard DMR shot on a running man and move the fuck on. We were actually enjoying our little guerilla war and following finding their vehicles and founding our own base on their server, we decided to escalate proceedings to what would perhaps be the DayZ equivalent of a clan war. It was all rather exciting, truth be told. Sadly TG admins apparently feel because they pay for the server they pay for the right to be unopposed on said server. Furthermore, there wasn't even any base of rationality for the bans, they simply banned everyone who was on our teamspeak with a name that correlated with someone on their server. One of our associates was banned despite never having attacked a TG member in his life. He's only been playing the game for 3-4 days and is a friend of one of our members - he's spent the past two days being killed in Cherno. Either way, we're sure they'll have no qualms about raiding our base now that they are once again the only sizeable organized force on the server.

A group of us that play on this server (US 137) organized a large raid focused on raiding camping and finding vehicles. We found numerous (poorly hidden) bases all along the edge of the map along with many vehicles. We did this late at night, with few people on the the server. We found so many tents we had to set up our own base and begin ferrying the loot via the vehicles. This went on for a period of ~2 days. During this time, we encountered resistance a few times from the TG members and we prevailed; escaping with the loot. However, when the admins discovered that we had raiding their bases and taken their vehicles, they attempted to restart the server many times in order to regain their gear. We made sure to save tents after we raided them and save vehicles every time we exit them to prevent them from exploiting. We didnt take kindly to this misuse of server control, but we ignored it and kept playing. We also witnessed many TG members disconnect during firefights and ghost to gain position. These guys are mostly cowards (save for a few) when it comes to real combat, always disconnecting. After all this, we initiated a server wide man hunt for TG players, recruiting others and moving in teams to highly populated, high risk areas; and also known TG bases. Many will pay for the mistakes of a few. We tried to log in today and continue and all our members are banned. We are not cheaters, and we got everything legit. After everything we have seen from these guys its not too surprising that they would rather ban us than try to take us out. We also had one of their members tell us they overheard a convo on their teamspeak about how they were going to ban us for "not playing in the spirit of DayZ", and made an analogy about us saying "its like we were walking up to two people playing chess and knocking over the board." That may be so, but maybe you should be guarding your base like a "tactical gamer" instead of leaning on server power. It appears to me that only people actually playing the game correctly (and rather tactically to boot) is us. We would like disciplinary action taken against these server admins, this sort of behavior is unacceptable. The spirit of the game is not determined by a sore player who lost his camp and got shot. Welcome to DayZ, "tactical gamers." Below are screenshots of some of our members bans. Will post more later when they get online. We also may have fraps of some of the pvp disconnects and the server restarts. I will find out soon. http://i.imgur.com/Q3Tsn.png http://i.imgur.com/RDmRx.jpg http://i.imgur.com/c39H6.jpg http://imageshack.us/f/96/arma2oa2012080519110140.png/

I play with some guys normally, and I'm not bailing on them, but I recently died and they aren't playing so I need some teammates for the afternoon :D I am fairly experienced, but definitely not a pro. I KoS (kill on sight), but I don't actively go seeking other players. It's simply out of my group's safety. We can look for vehicles, loot, whatever. Not looking to camp Cherno or Elektro. Tell me how you like to play Dayz, what makes it fun for you. Also put your preferred method of communication. I currently only have skype but can re-DL vent or TS if need be. Let's go kill some stuff, or run through the forest. Either way, :beans: are everywhere.

I lost everything..... Im done
ThatGuyCalledReptile replied to kokonuts09's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
My group lost 4 vehicles enough food to live forever 4 tents worth of weapons and ammo because a server ate it. Yeah It's a little aggravating but seriously shit happens. -
Hey all, I'm looking for some mature (20+ yo), who want to PvP. Just to be clear, PvP does not mean we spend all day/night finding parts to vehicles, server hopping till we repair something and drive around killing zombies/duping weapons and gear. I'm not here to spend hours "grinding" for a game that doesn't require grinding. I'm open to the idea of setting up camp (only on veteran servers with ping <160ms), but as long as that isn't the only goal. Needless to say, I've been in some groups that "PvPs" only to find that they love PvE'ing and role playing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not treating this game like COD or MW (run and shoot sorta game), but I'd like to see more action in major cities. Info about me: 25 yo, 2nd year medical student with 2 weeks left of summer (looking to game hard and as much as possible to get it outta my system), skype/TS3 (mumble is being weird). skype info: unpenegrande Thanks

Vehicles shouldn't be rare. Let the experiment continu.
Herr Robert replied to daedrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Individual vehicles are rare, but the 20+ vehicles on each DayZ server is not a very low amount for the size of Chernarus in my opinion. If off map hoarding was fixed, it would be a common occurance for the average player to find vehicles once in a while, considering the majority of the viable hiding spots are limited to the woods on the western and northern parts of the map.. I do not oppose the idea of adding more vehicles (in fact, I think that it would probably make the mod more fun), but it would not solve the problem. At the moment a clan with enough members and time on their hands can hoard the vehicles on several servers and spend 5-10 minutes/day to save them (you just need to save an off map vehicle once every 24h to keep it off the map). -
How do vehicles, tents etc work crossserver
Tiercel replied to Goodyearr's topic in New Player Discussion
Theyre locked to the server, theres no way to cross vehicles or tents over servers. -
I honestly have no idea how it works :D If I find a car and drive it somewhere safe, then change servers. will that car be there next time I go play? what does the 'save car' option do? also tents, do they work cross-server? Me and my friends were in elektro and we found an abandoned bus on the church doorway, I wen't in decided it was too broken to be fixed.. shortly after that we stopped playing and I came back few hours later to another server and that bus was still there

The huey cannot transport vehicles...And I don't recall ever seeing an atv next to the huey, maybe a hacker spawned it in and broke it?

cars not at spawn points but at whole different places?
Skyl1n3 replied to lian442's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Most, if not all, the vehicles are hoarded up by dickhead clans and hidden in the northern parts of the map so normal people get a 5-10% chance of actually finding a worthwhile vehicle... -
sprinting, going indoors, being outside in the sunshine increases body temperature. "You increase your body temperature by: Moving (very slow, faster movement speed will neutralise loss) Remaining near a Fireplace (very fast) Using a Heat Pack (Instant) Remaining inside buildings (slow) Staying in the sunshine (slow - moderate based on time of day) Sitting in Vehicles - Slow/moderate Your body temperature will decrease when: You are outdoors at night (slow) You are outdoors in a rain storm (fast) You are outdoors in a windy environment (slow) You are immersed in water (Very fast)"

Vehicles shouldn't be rare. Let the experiment continu.
sostronk replied to daedrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vehicles aren't rare at all. I like the idea of making fuel stations being "campable" though, might take some emphasis off Cherno/Elektro so snipers can take some pot shots at organized player instead of hatchet wielding new players. -
Welp, I have an AS50 I probably won't use, a 1911, a winchester with a shitload of mags, a coyote backpack, map, compass, matches, watch, camo, ample supplies, etc. What should I do? I havent found any vehicles yet, but I don't really feel like fixing a vehicle. So, zombie slaying? I mean I don't really like killing other players.
