  1. An idea my friend and I came up with a few days ago. Currently if zombies attack a vehicle it gets damaged and will (if you are dumb enough not to get out and kill the Zed) finally make it explode. This appears a bit strange to me, but of course vehicles can't be Zombie-safe zones. So lets give those dumb windscreen glasses a task! Let the Zombies destroy them and if they broke all, they can attack the players that are inside a vehicle. This way a vehicle can no longer be rigged to explode by zombie punches and bites. At this moment windscreen glasses are almost useless and if using third person cam you dont need them at all. And even in first person it is only mildly annoying. So what do think? This way windscreen glass finally has something to do.

    The best sniper rifle in the game?

    By the numbers, the AS50 is better. 1. Ammo for the fifty caliber snipers is roughly the same frequency of that of the DMR when you account for the amount of ammo that you use. If you don't land a headshot, the DMR is a 3-4 shot kill meaning that every mag you find is 5-6 kills. According to DayZ database, the drop rate for DMR mags at any military zone is 3.96%, while the M107 mags are a 1%. But an M107 mag nets you TWICE as many kills per clip, again assuming that you aren't landing 100% headshots. And even for those of you thinking you're the best sniper in the world, tutting "well I ALWAYS headshot every time!", no, you don't. Beyond 500 meters it's impossible to guarantee a headshot just based on the slight passive sway of being prone, which by the way is often impossible because of grass. The effect is worse when crouched. Couple this with the fact that the DMR has no manual zero and I very much doubt that even asians can guarantee headshots every single time. Now, factor in that the 5-6 figure is even assuming that you LAND every shot. In a typical case, within 300m you can easily fire off 3 rounds and land a kill before your victim can react, but much further out than that and you won't be landing every single shot because of recoil and passive sway. Either you spam the trigger and hope you get lucky (likely missing a few shots) or you wait for recoil and passive sway to calm down so you can accurately land another shot. However, in the time you're waiting your target has discovered HOLY SHIT I'M BEING SHOT AT and is now taking serpentine evasive maneuvers which also reduces your chance to land a shot. I would estimate that even a good DMR marksman only gets 3-4 kills per mag when firing beyond 500m, versus the easy 10 that even a mediocre AS50 marksman can get using a rangefinder. Thus the M107 mags net between 3 and 4 times as many kills per mag, making the (Drop Rate):(Kills Gained Per Drop) ratio about equal, slightly in the AS50s favor when you factor in NATO rounds, which I ignored in this instance because that would be too much work. Either way, on ammo "abundance" versus efficiency, they're equal. 2. This is true, but only a true advantage if you're playing on a server with crosshairs disabled. On any server with crosshairs turned on, an AS50 user can simply use the green crosshairs to easily land shots out to 500m. Because of recoil and passive sway, the DMR also drops off at around that range, so again this is a situational bonus. Personally I always play with crosshairs turned on because many of the guns in this game are extremely broken when attempting to use the iron sights (M16 M203, I'm looking at you). 3. Rate of fire means nothing when you look at the timeline of how that fight would go. AS50 - First shot, the target died. DMR - First shot within 300m, the target is probably dead. Beyond that? Depending on the marksmans skill, the target is probably still alive and kicking. Increased rate of fire (aka, pulling your trigger faster) only makes you less accurate, and given that the AS50 is ALWAYS a one shot KO I would bet cashmoney that a graph on damage done (reduced by accuracy %) over time would show the AS50 in clear favor. The increased fire rate is only helpful, again, in closer range. And still, the AS50 will always land a kill on the first shot, so the best the DMR can do is be ON PAR with the AS50. 4. Does it really matter what your "skill" as a marksman is on a game that has shady-at-best hit recognition? Sure if this was a competitive shooter, I'd say this makes a difference and is definitely good practice. But this isn't a competitive shooter, and it never will be because of crippling bugs and a shit-tacular engine. It's like saying that your skill at riding an elevator is just amazing: granted there's a slight skill cap (figuring out how to push them buttons!), but random chance plays a much larger role. I'd reckon that even if you were the worlds best Arma 2 player, ping and the inherently shit engine would fuck you out of most of your skillfully gained headshots anyway. In addition, when is it tactically a wise decision to go with the "showing off" thing to do over the "probably much more stable and guaranteed" thing to do? There is no denying that the AS50 will more consistently net you kills because hey, even if you lag or the server derps or what have you and your headshot is detected as a body shot YOUR TARGET IS STILL DEAD. Also, the AS50 has a dramatic advantage over the DMR when it comes to vehicles. One shot to the engine block of virtually any car with an AS50 loaded with NATO rounds will fireball it. Same goes for helicopters. I honestly take great comfort in the fact that if a helicopter flies overhead I'm at a great advantage over him because A) I have one of the few guns that can fight back against him and B) It's going to take him a lot longer to spot me that it is the other way around. Our group keeps a large stockpile of both because both are good weapons, but at the end of the day the AS50 is definitely more consistent.     Server: DE 721 Time: 23:10 MEST What happend: All players were teleported to one location and killed immediately. All vehicles and tents were also destroyed.

  5. Clan 101 was compiled by a group of friends who've been gaming with each other for various amounts of years throughout different games. We're based on the thought of creating a thriving and exciting gaming environment for members to enjoy their experience with. The clan has played through many games including: Star Wars: The Old Republic Diablo 3 Tera Guild Wars 2 (On release) Our community website:http://the101.eu/ Throughout these games it has been clear that the clan has grown into a great community including an interesting and innovative player base and have been playing Day Z on a consistent basis for a little over a month now. Day Z, however didn't interest all of our members hence the recruitment being open for social and experienced members who don't take the game too seriously, have a great sense of humour, however have the experience to handle and carefully deal with most situations put in front of them as a group. Initially, the clan started as a basic survivor squad, just attempting to gear up and explore to see what the map of Chernarus truly withholds, however among our journey many battles unprovoked by us where fought making us wonder, why should we actually take it so easy? Upon being cheated (as I'm sure most people have been in this trust reliant game!) we learnt our lesson and redirected our motives. Now our motives lie near being one of the most dominant, experienced and feared clans Day Z has to offer, trusting only our clan members and no one else. Currently, on various full (50/50) servers we have withheld Cherno for hours among hours, fighting many gruesome fire fights with a high success rate. We've explored a large proportion of the map therefore our navigational skills are exceptional and our tactical methods in combat have been refined due to an extensive amount of engaged fire fights with groups of players. We have access, and have had access to the best gear in the game including the feared M107 anti material rifle, a range of vehicles, high end assault rifles and other useful gadgets like the range finder so our experience with weapons isn't limited. What we expect from you: To know your way around Chernarus and be able to navigate efficiently. To communicate efficiently - this means highlighting any useful Intel and ensuring your position is always known by the players around you. This also includes the ability to take orders and to convey them without panicking. We use Skype and have a Teamspeak 3 server, and they are essential to join. To have a good sense of humour and to be able to actually enjoy the game - We really aren't looking for someone who will sit on comms with us saying nothing and being 100% serious 24/7, obviously in situations seriousness is needed but know when to apply it, and when to lighten up and enjoy a laugh. To have had experience with gear, it's obviously preferable if you have some type of relatively decent gear on you now, however it isn't compulsory if you've had necessary experience handling high end items as we've all died in this game! To be willing to gain our trust, as trust is a big factor in this game, and it's the basis of all team play. What we can provide to you: An enjoyable and experience Day Z environment surrounded by a supportive clan who want to make even bigger things happen. A tactically organised group who've encountered many unfortunate situations and have prevailed against the circumstances who could include you in our glory! Airfield raids, city raids, town raids, raids... raids... raids..! Lots of big guns! A higher rate of survival - With the player base we already have, it currently consists of 6 people, whom have survived a variety of dire situations, however wouldn't have done it alone. We provide medical attention, food and watering needs, ammunition distribution if anyone is running low, and of course - fairly distributed guns. We're a clan, a team - We're here to support one and other for our cause, not too pimp one person for their own enjoyment With the introduction of new players, organised and efficient strike teams can be set out to secure locations, survival resources and to tactically outsmart enemies in battle.   6. On our other 2 servers the vehicles spawned after the first restart. This server now was started first time and we already were at the location, where the V3S spawns and there was nothing. All other spawns are empty.

    if you're not seeing any vehicles, here's a test, set up a tent, save it. log out , restart the server, if you log back in and the tent is gone, rinse and repeat till you see the tent again, tents are similar to vehicles, if you see the tents when you log in, you will surely find vehicles.
  8. That's good information to know for sure. We haven't found any vehicles on our server since we set it up. But its only been 3-4 days now. Will be keeping a lookout on them.
  9. Correct to an Extent: If someone has taken that Vehicle already, and Saved that at a location, That Vehicle will not spawn. Only Vehicles which were destroyed will re-spawn.

  12. Just fyi an admin can not give you a global ban. Only Battleye can do that via auto detection. All us admins can do is give you a server ban from that server. From the BattlEye support website: "If you are globally banned, read the following rules before sending in a support request. If you don't follow these rules your request/e-mail will be ignored! Otherwise your individual case will be carefully investigated. No one is banned for using non-hack programs (like Fraps, overlays, etc.), picking up or using hacked in-game items, weapons or vehicles, being on a server at the same time as a cheater, or other passive non-cheating activity. Therefore all requests mentioning these things as possible reasons for the global ban are ignored. A shared or stolen cd-key is no excuse. It's your own responsibility to ensure that no one else has access to it. Include your exact (!) global ban ID. The ID is shown in your global ban message ("Global Ban #ID"). If you don't include it your request will be ignored. Do not tell stories. Whatever you are saying about yourself or your situation won't matter. The only thing that matters is the evidence that is gathered for every global ban issued. Do not ask for the evidence behind your ban. No details about it will be revealed.     US 559 - hacker

    30 minutes ago, i met a guy in the middle top north of the map. I was looting a random camp when i heared a guy "friendly, follow me". The camp was full of ammo, camo, etc but nothing wrong with it i think. Then i followed him, because i was curious and scared (even if i was with a as50, guillie, and all of the best stuff ^^), he showed me an other camp with a truck and tents then show me an other place with a chopper. With no fuel and a lot of broken glass. He told me that was a gift, but it was unflyable, too destroyed i think. I told him that i didn't know how to fly (and i don't know how to) , Then he repair it in one second and took me to Eletrko, but crash us in a forest in the middle of the map. His nick was PantHer - US 559 - 09/08/2012 - 22h30 to 23h UTC+1 (paris madrid). Clues : - no special items or equipements, just like a naked noob that just spawn from the beach. With a AS50 and only a coyote pack (the one we begin with). - 3 camps and 2 with vehicles. - instant repair the chopper. - too friendly to be honest. I did'nt killed him because i was suspecting him to be a cheater, if i've killed him he would have known my nick and then killed me in return. He talk me by voice and message (so i know his nick), but was very fuzzed or unclear in his words, he never told me why i should have followed him. PS : sorry, i'm french, my english is not very fluent ^^ PS2 : also on other guy was killed by a friendly fire, we did'nt note the nickname but is it a hack ? PS3 : sorry if it's not a hacker, but i have serious doubts

Actually i remember reading a topic where admins were saying WTF when dealing with vehicle spawning they were saying how after 3 restarts there were only 1-3 vehicles that spawn on the map (they referred to the logs) Along with the broken save system for tents and cars right now...im pretty sure it is just the newest patches that are post 1.7.5
  17. Fair point although I'm just suggesting somethign not demanding it - but sure I got me some crazy entitlement problems.. I'm not saying that they aren't working their assess of for this mod just that they might want to do something different. IMO, this is no longer a 'mod', mods are not developed by the software studio that made the game.. this is more like a free DLC now, ijs. Just so you know, patches 95724 and 95777 actually disabled a few things that scripters use to spawn items - but it got accidentally disabled and in the latest patch (95819) it's back, mainly because it broke some of the other mods and how they spawned vehicles. In the end, I think it might in BI best interest to do this.. so the 1 million DayZ players can play in peace.
  18. Given the fact that Chernarus is a fictional Post-Soviet state, the weapon selection in DayZ is rather poor as far as immersion goes. The vast majority of DayZ weaponry is of American origin, outnumbering Eastern Bloc weaponry by a large margin. Some weapon categories, the ONLY options are American (machine guns come to mind). I propose a shift towards weaponry far more likely to be found in such a nation, adding many more of the Soviet and Russian weapons, and significantly lowering the spawn rates of American weaponry. Some of us like to roleplay a fair bit in our zombie survival and get really into it, and the current biggest problem with that is the fact most of the weaponry doesn't fit well to the setting. Preferrably, most of the newer military-grade American weapons would be removed, but I suspect a rather large proportion of the population would be against that, thus the compromise of reducing its probability of spawn might be needed. Things like the M16A2s and M1911 pistols are old enough that they might not need a cut in probability, M16A4s, M4s, the machine guns and submachine guns, the M9 pistols, and MP5 would need to take a rate hit. Good suggested weapon additions: Handgun: Makarov SD (equivalent: M9 silenced) Submachine gun: Perhaps non-silenced Bizon PP-19 (currently have an unsilenced MP5, but only silenced Bizon) Shotgun: Saiga 12K Assault Rifles: AK-74 GP-25 (equivalent: M16A2 M203) AKS-74UN (equivalent: M4A1 CCO SD) AK-107 PSO, (equivalent to M16A4 ACOG) Sniper rifles: VSS Vintorez possibly... would probably be a bandit weapon almost entirely KVSK (equivalent:to M107) SVD with no camo Perhaps SVD with NSPU? Useless in day thus perhaps balanced? Another most likely bandit weapon. Launcher: RPG-7V, probably the most common launcher worldwide. Four possible types of ammo, not all necessarily in game: OG-7V frag, PG-7V HEAT, PG-7VL HEAT (higher penetration, lower HE than PG-7V), PG-7VR tandem HEAT (very low HE effect, less effective to current Day Z vehicles than other two HEAT rounds, meant as anti-tank vs. reactive armour) Maybe RPG-18... would be similar to current M136. Machine guns: RPK (equivalent: M249) PKM (equivalent: M240) PKP (extremely rare, equivalent Mk 48, but with magnified optic) Such modifications would make a much more believeable experience in your finds moving about Chernarus.
  19. hey all my friends discovered lots of items and vehicles spawned in on skalisty island on US256 unfortunatly i dont know who spawned these in. if the server admin of US256 is online, you should probably clean up this mess.

What if each server had their own version of the map, with randomized location for villages, roads, airfield etc. At the moment a lot of the problems for the game come with people getting a bit too familiar with the map, server hopping at high value loot spots, camping high value loot, knowing the exact location of vehicles and loot spawns, malls, pvp hotspots. Because let's face it, once you've played for a few hours, you learn the location of all the important stuff, there's no exploring any more. I used to enjoy trying to figure out my position with the map, trying to find landmarks, read signs, etc. But now I got a pretty good idea of where things are at, especially along the coast. What used to be a fun experience exploring new places, discovering new things has turned into a less exciting get into the mall, check this and that place, go into the farm over there, then head for the next town. I think there are a few issues with having the map randomized, the first being the time and cost to implement such a system. The second being server hopping and ending up inside stuff. I'm also pretty sure that a lot of people have grown attached to the current map and don't want to let go. I too am quite fond of it, but having a new map to explore would give the game better replay value and also stay true to the survival aspect.
  23. So me and Jason decided to get together before the weekend and go on the hunt for campsites and vehicles. There's gonna be a group of us together tomorrow night so thought we'd do the guys a favour and try and accumulate as much kit as possible. Here's what we've managed to put together. Also what's not in the vid is another Pickup truck full to the brim with weapons. It's got a G36 in it..... is that a hacked weapon? Never seen it before in Dayz? We should be nicely tooled up for this weekend! Lets hope we don't get capped tonight! :-)

    Green Mt.

    I went to Green Mountain (for the first time and alone) a few days ago. I spent a good while watching and observing the gate for zombies and other players (though I had no idea there were all of these myths and whatnot). While I was hiding in a pretty decent spot with a good field of view, I heard a solitary gunshot and sort of panicked. I froze, not really wanting to alert the shooter or the zombies to my presence. After a few more minutes of observation, I could see nothing but ~5 zombies. Then I got called away and had to leave. But when I logged into a different server later on, I noticed the mass grave and was instantly quite creeped out - mainly because of the flies which I associate with, y'know, areas of pretty intense danger and implied player violence. Not to mention the fact that mass graves are generally pretty goddamn creepy anyway. I didn't find any significant loot and the vehicles were absent, but I did notice some bizarre zombie behaviour. They had spawned outside the gate and were not aggro'd to me, but when I turned around from the corpse pile and the military loot spawn, every single one of them (by this point I'd estimate about 15 had spawned in) was within the compound. I stayed completely motionless out of fear of a zombie siege battle in the tower. Then I realised that they were all walking in single file out of the compound. This freaked the ever-loving fuck out of me so I decided to just leave. This was all in the daytime. I might go there again at night - just because it might be fun to scare myself shitless. So all in all, some mildly strange things happened and I solidified my status as a DayZ pansy. Oh, but the deer stands had some okay loot.
  25. There are many many servers without vehicles at the moment. Our new server is online since one hour and there is nothing. And we don't even get an official statement from the devs. But well it's okay I can shit money.
