    M16/M4 Beta Mags

    DayZ is a mod on top of Arma2, all items from Arma2 are already there. That is why hackers are able to spawn items and vehicles that aren't in DayZ. All it takes to add an item from Arma2 to DayZ is to type it's name and spawn probability at a proper place in a file called config.cpp and after new version release it will start spawning in DayZ.
  4. Hi, I made this thread to share some thoughts on what I think could offer great gameplay experience and attract new / keep more players. 1. Game Longetivity - I understand it's necessary for the server restarts to respawn all items, clear dead bodies, remove wirefences etc, so that there isn't too much clutter - but I think that rather than having vehicles/items lifetimes depending on the server to restart, that they should depend on a health variable... This way, when you go to the effort of building wirefences and trenches etc around the base where you stockpile weapons, ammo and cars, the server restart will not wipe everything. Players that are not interested in PVP are encouraged to play the game more by this, also. 2. Raids & Clan wars This really wouldnt be anything needed to be coded in, (Albeit some features could be coded in to "support" the idea), it would be more so the fact that by being able to build a base that won't dissapear unless it is destroyed, you're able to encourage raids on enemy players / groups bases. This could not only potentially lead to some exciting gameplay, but also be the stepping stones for a larger community. The ability to "save" your base and stockpile of items/vehicles will encourage players to depend on teamwork. Clans will start to form, as it will be attractive for players wanting guns / ammo, for a better chance of survival or for a competitive aspect. You're already able to wear clan tags in the game and there are numerous clans already out there, but this would bring some meaning behind it all :) For example, stuff like flying over a field and spotting a largeish base with some cars and etc, then planning a 10 man raid on it to gather supplies for your own base, or two large clans (20+ man teams) going at it in CQC with sniper support to see who's the more dominant team.. These ideas could be implemented with the existing foundation of dayz code without changing too much, but for some offbeat abstract ideas that would require more work: Clan territory where you're able to mark an area of the map as your own, Ladder with some kind of point system

This is apparently a kown problem, since the new patch, vehicles either disappear, or they respawn totally randomly, weve had vehicles turned into other vehicles at the place last saved, server restarts, and a ural and a 4x4 turn into a single bike, happens on every restart, tents are still fucked to.
  7. Someone said that admins can't see players locations anymore, could that possible be because they are changing how server andclient handle that information/packages? There are a few programs/scripts out there that either read the incoming packages or directly from memory information like where players are located, where items and objects are (e.g. tents, vehicles, etc.). Just because you are affected by patches does not mean that you are the cause/target.   10. EDIT: tl;dr: I am going to hatchet your ass. The Beginning: I have been playing this game since July 17th (my birthday). My younger brother purchased this game for me, and I have had an amazing time playing it with him and his friends (and myself... let's not mention that though). ;) After they taught me how to play, and I had a few encounters with other random players, I decided to give them some advice. "Shoot everyone in the face!" They immediately told me not to do that / that isn't nice / don't think that way. After a long debate, they convinced me that the 3 other people I had ran into were "bandits." So, I continued playing the game with the intention that a majority of the other players were trying to survive the same horrible zombie apocalypse I was. My Noob Years: My brother and his friend were in Elektro gathering supplies to move to our camp (obviously we should have been further north, but... oh well). I was nearby, so I asked if one of them could give me a blood transfusion. They asked me to meet them in the school (three story building), so I headed over there. I informed them over Skype that I was entering the bottom floor of the school house. My brother asked if I had an Enfield. I responded, "no." I thought he was asking if I had fired one and he heard it, or that I had the weapon in my hand. I was still new, so I didn't know you could see weapons on someone's back. My brother immediately started shooting at me, so I shot back and killed him. His friend was behind him and killed me within seconds. It all happened so fast none of us knew what happened until we saw the death messages on the server. (Note: Our server has no nameplates) My brother was quite angry, which I thought was hilarious (older brother syndrome). So, now I am confused because I was told not to immediately shoot people, but they shot me without asking if I was friendly. :( My "Being too Nice" Experience: One day, I log into the game near our camp, while someone is looking through our tents. After recently killing my brother, I decided to hold my fire and ask if they were friendly / are you my brother's friend? BAM!!! I get shot in the face. I suppose that was understandable, since the guy wasn't our friend. However, he could have apologized and I would have let him go... maybe. My Most Annoying Alpha/Bug Experience: I spawned on the coast (with all my stuff) without dying or server hopping. However, I had to try three times to connect to my normal server. That could have caused me to spawn on the coast. Either way, it is still annoying when I didn't die or server hop. But, this is an Alpha and a mod, so I shrugged it off (as I have with many bugs/glitches in PC games, mods, and alphas / betas before this one) and headed for my camp. My Close Encounter with Insanity: After two hours I arrived at my camp. (I didn't run straight there, since I wanted to check some of our other camps / loot areas on the way). My camp and all of the vehicles were gone. So, I decided to wait for a server restart. Insanity: I rejoined the server after a restart to find none of my tents or vehicles! Now... this is a mod, and it is in Alpha. It isn't even a game in Alpha... just a mod. So, I can't be mad at rocket, and I can't be mad at BIS (well I can be mad at them a little bit for their quirky engine). The only people left that I can be mad at / express my anger towards are the players. So, prepare yourselves for the wrath of the hatchet wielding maniac, the makarov madman, and/or the Lee Enfield lunatic!!!!! I AM COMING FOR YOU! Stay out of Cherno/Elektro if you know what is good for you! P.S. I am not actually going to do this... yet. Luckily, most of my rage has been released while writing this forum post. P.P.S Now I understand why people are so trigger happy... it releases anger (or maybe they really are just CoD PoS wannabe PC gamers... sorry to introduce consolism). P.P.P.S. You guys are awesome.   11. I am saddened to announce that shortly after the first exchange, we returned to our camp to find EVERYTHING destroyed. The huey, supplies...gone. I'm sorry, folks. I don't know how it happened, if it was a hacker or just sheer bad luck, but the raffle must come to a close now :( Should I ever feel comfortable resuming it, I will update this post to let you know.     We hadn't moved the Ural since reacquiring it after Shaun of the Bread and his clan took it out. The rest of the vehicles were easy to get out, we just took down fortifications to get them out. We'd just found the V3S again last night, we took down some sandbags, rolled it right over the wire. After we were done playing for the night, around 0600, I reset the server for the morning reset, which would have respawned those fortifications we took down.

    Every person I've killed that had an AS50 TSW or a G36C SD or an M4A1 ACOG SD or anything that wasn't on the official weapons list, I immediately buried the body, any time a clan mate found a questionable rifle we buried it in a fire pit and got rid of them. And yeah I can restart the server right now. All the fortifications are back, the building is back, the tents are back......and it doesn't matter cause now everyone knows where it is and it becomes impossible to even defend it because people think "meta-gaming" is cool and they'll just spawn directly inside the place by hopping from one server, to our server...just to get some kills and some lulz, without even trying to fight us fairly. And again, we have to relocate vehicles now, we're not going to get those back with a server reset, they were destroyed. Simple facts are, in my attempt to explain my reasoning here and even with my willingness to remove the bans if I misinterpreted the logs, everything we had is lost. The place is radioactive now. Anyone reading this forum could show up at any time simply to get some easy kills and to hit the tents that won't fucking stop restocking their contents. To be honest I'd rather just leave the place destroyed at this point. Bringing it back will do nothing but create a public supply depot at this point.

    No vehicles spawning on new server.

    There are serious problems with the way the database syncing works that cause vehicles to become corrupted after they spawn. The problem is (at least this is how I think it works) when a vehicle's database entry is corrupted, it despawns, but never spawns again. So once your server is running for a while and all of the vehicles on your server become corrupted (and it will become corrupted) none spawn anymore. Private servers do not have this problem since it uses a local database and better syncing code, so if you really want vehicles to spawn, I'd suggest abandoning the "official" hive and setting up a private server. You can add as many vehicle spawns as you want if you go that route. Private servers still suffer from tent problems though. But at least vehicles don't vanish forever.

    ATVs- Probably the worst vehicles in the game as you tap a rabbit and you back flip "Gear"-Alice packs (And if you say you have Ghilles and NVG's to spare, then you obviously duped and can just do it again) Guns- most likley Ak's and M4 PS. its no fun sitting around a game because you are to scared to loose your favorite gun.

    Just a FYI you can restart your server whenever you want, even if you weren't to restart it for 3 days the building would then repair back to how it was, and the tents will repitch themselves with everything back in them. I'd know that as our tents got ran over by someone about a week ago, we waited about 20 hours for a restart and then they repitched. Kindof weird but the only think you've lost is the vehicles I guess. I personally wouldn't have fortified the factory as you'll always have people going there for car parts, i'm sure you'll find somewhere else thats equally as good. Ok getting into the building kindof makes sense now, it was quite hard. If I really wanted to I would have just bombed my way in but I decided to try and figure out how your lot had gotten in without. Still have no clue how you got those vehicles out though. The only way I could think of was removing the file in your DayZ which has the fortifications on them, that way you can just drive straight through them (seen it done with trees so people just drive straight through trees, it's nuts...) Atleast I didn't see anything like Thermal AS50's in your tents, I hate finding those in other peoples camps, so you get respect for not using those peices of shiz

    Since you're being somewhat reasonable, I will be reasonable in return. Let me be very clear. I have NEVER willfully duped anything myself. I duped my backpack once by complete accident. I put my backpack in my tent. I put on a camo suit, I had a backpack on and it had all the stuff from the backpack I put in the tent, I pulled the backpack out of the tent...and all the stuff was in that one too, so I duped a backpack, without even trying. Now, we have two clans that play together on the server, and rather than LULzing our way through Chernogorosk while we use communications advantages against ungrouped players and telling ourselves how awesome we are while we slaughter people just off the beach, we actually attempt to do survival situations...we group up, we find a fortifiable location, we fortify it, we spend our nights doing supply run operations at various towns to ensure we keep our stocks up. I am more than willing to agree that in a group of 20 or more people, that several of them might be duping on purpose. But I don't dupe, and as I said I'd LOVE to have an instance ID wipe for 401 just to get rid of the crap...so we could start over and get back to the basics of survival again. Some of the most fun we had was actually acquiring the things we'd need to start having a survival settlement. The back door of the building could be vaulted into if you knew how to do it. It was basically a small space where the wire would allow you to vault over it due to the change in base height from terrain to mesh base. Simple facts are, I have not denied the possibility of dupes being in our camp. I have simply stated my own stance on duping...I don't do it and I don't try to do it. And I'd prefer a situation where it wasn't possible at all, whether by accident or on purpose. The vehicles you destroyed took us three days to recover after ESP hackers stole every vehicle on our server and dropped them in random and rather hard to find locations, including teleporting the goddamn PBX into the middle of the forest at 005006. A lot of what we had was legally acquired doing Airfield operations, hospital operations in Berezino, tons of helicopter spawns to find antibiotics. Regardless of what may or may not have been legitimate we spent a lot of time legitimately attempting to play this game as a survival simulation. And now its all pretty much over with. We've lost everything. We can't go back...the whole base is a broken arrow now. Eventually we're going to run out of places to even try to play this game as a survival simulation.
  20. I know, I know, the title sounds a little stupid, but I'll try to elaborate on an idea that i think that is both original and realistic. I tend to avoid hundreds of DayZ servers because of one feature: Nameplates. Countless times I've detected survivors and even vehicles by accident with it, and I think it is extremely unrealistic, especially because they work through stuff. The only occasion I'd like to see nameplates is when I see a guy coming to my direction and I don't know if it's my friend who has been traveling with me for the last 3 hours or a random guy who will just shoot me on sight. In real life, when I see a friend running towards me I know it's him, because I can recognize his clothes, his shape and even his face, since my vision (unlike my monitor) is not limited to 1920x1080 pixels. On this game, I think that different character clothes will be a feature in the distant future, when it goes standalone (It has to eventually), and the other two things I've mentioned aren't very practical ways to recognize folks on a LED screen. To counter these limitations, a simple way to make sure I recognize a guy I know is by seeing his nameplate. But how to determinate whose nameplate I should see? I was thinking about an option that would appear on the mouse wheel menu while pointing to a survivor, something in the line of "Ask survivor's name". That would give the other survivor the option to give his name or refuse to (maybe even lie). After that, the name that he might have given to me would appear like the current nameplates (or over his head all the time, MMORPG style), but only to me and the other players who know his name. That way, I could still ambush other players without having to fear accidental detection, and still prevent accidental and unrealistic friendly fire. I know it's not an easy feature to implement, and maybe impossible in DayZ's current "ArmA 2 mod" state, but it's an idea that could carry on to when this mod goes standalone or migrates to ArmA 3. So... What do you guys think?

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

    Sorry if this has been said already but reading through 68 pages is abit much :) Our server got updated to this update. We had a UAZ, after server was back up we drove it to pick up a group member on the coast. After picking him up we realised the in game time zone had reset so server admin restarted server with correct setting. After logging back in our UAZ had turned into a Pickup and now after every restart the UAZ disappears and respawns to the road we originally found it. The gear saved inside the vehicles dont actually save now aswel, just returns to the original gear we had prior to updating.
  22. At around 12:20-40 AM Pacific Time a hacker by the name of Daft Muffin teleported to me near West Cherno. I lit his ass up because he scared me but I saw that he was invincible. I played it cool saying it was an accident so he wouldn't nuke the server or something. Then he spawned in a fuckton of vehicles and a weapon crate and parachuting cows. He also had another hacker friend in the server whom he did not name.     Hey there. I just recently purchased a server on 8/9. I have yet to see any vehicles or helicopter crash sites on my server. This pretty annoying I must say. You should not have to wait 7+ days or however many days people are saying it takes for vehicles to spawn on a new server. It's just rediculous. Why should it take that long? Is it really that time consuming to change the code to where a brand new server starts with vehicles off the bat? I wouldn't think so. But anyways just my two cents.
  24. Okay, I guess I have some Idea why. heh. After playing on their server for countless hours with my mates these Saphik Members/Admins come to play and shut down the server. Restarting it many times. When they booted it back Up, i joined. All my stuff was there :) The Admin sent out a Global message about the server being restarted because item/tents didn't save properly or something like that even though the previous restart of the server (about 1-2hours before being restarted again) all vehicles and save items returned respectively. :) After dropping the server and rebooting it again I join again and I get kicked out of game straightaway... The server was locked again. :( Could it be because my mates and I did this to a whole bunch of tents after looting everything? I won't bother reporting the server as I don't really have the proof. But I think the Saphik clan members were very displeased. It's still going up and down. Hopefully I'm not banned :(

    Thanks for everybody to respond sharing my concern. I would recommend you keep posting in this thread to get exposure. Maybe we will find more people with the problem or actually a Dev response. we can also stay updated if one of our server starts to get vehicles in e.t.c. Keep it going
