  1. No no no no. The increased number of vehicles would make this game easier and less thrilling. This is DayZ and you have to survive, this is not Need for Speed. I would remove even helicopters, because they don't have sense: a survivor that finds a helicopter would escape from the island. No offence, but everytime I read these kind of posts, they make me think that the main problem is that this mod attracted too much casual gamers.
  2. error 55 happens to me and my clan all the time, regardless of what we are doing, vehicle or not. its def not just related to vehicles. putting the Battleye files back into the folder has fixed it for us on occassion, but it still pops up almost everyday. no hacking or scripting here.

    Military Base Camps

I don´t think it would work. It would just be another high yield military loot location. Vehicles would be taken within 10 minutes and anything else would just be looted like anything else on the map. Staying there and trying to make it groups base would be suicide. Once it became to public knowledge that a clan or group was keeping it as their own they would perish soon to one of the following: -snipers -server hoppers -hackers.

Beware of hacker in FR 79

Yea, we honestly thought someone was just trying to hide the ural itself out there thinking no one would check so far out. My friend stayed in the game and noticed someone who was already in the game for a little while get banned after this incident ocurred which makes me think it was that person but eh, who knows. Just gotta start over again, which i dont mind since i had all the gear I could have ever wanted already, so all i was really doing was just looking for vehicles.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Nope, in BF3 you can Teleport everyone in front of your Crosshair with or without vehicles. You can get invisible, you can give unl. ammo, you can fly, you can teleport yourself, and of course - GODMODE.. So pretty same things as in dayz, just not spawn weapons/vehicles as far as i know. COD.. wallhack, aimbot, invisible, godmode -> more than enough to destroy a game.
  6. This might be long, but here's a post about why BE's bans are not likely to be false positives. It seems to me that a lot of you people have no idea how neither Arma nor BE works. Arma has a very open platform and complex missions consists of considerable scripts. Mods, like Dayz, consists of several functions, modules, models, etc. There are also add-ons that can be added to the game. Some of the missions scripts are executed server side and some are executed on the client side. Now with the last entry here, this is what opens up for hackers. BE has been fighting this for some years but there are some things where it cannot stop hackers as that would either cause false positives because of a poorly made mission (or mod) or it would seriously limit mission makers and mods (i.e. why BE has to be careful and why you still see hackers running around). Now to the bans, there are some commands that the client never-ever should run. Like creating weapons, vehicles, etc. In a mission you're testing you might want to be able to teleport from one location to another, this is done in the mission and the script that executes this is ran by the server, not the client. You can run scripts on the client that has serverside effects which is what the hackers are doing. What commands you're allowed to do, and what you're not - I have no idea about but if you can do it in a mission, BE will allow it. I haven't bothered looking at how the hacks work as I play on passworded servers in A2 where hacking was rapant earlier. I do know that BE is checking these commands and it only triggers on commands that you're never ever supposed to send. This means that changing your config-file is never ever the reason for a ban. Nor is changing your skin. Also, BE doesn't care about mods/addons, which means BE can't ban based on "hacked items" because BE doesn't know what items a mod allows/disallows. However, it will ban when you try to inject a code instructing the server to give you or someone else, or simply place it on the ground. If someone hacks an item in your backpack, BE doesn't care about you - it cares about who sent the commands. Also I do believe that BE scans your script-folders for unique strings in illegal scripts which means that if you downloaded a hack to "see what it was", "see how it works because it will make me a better admin" or "learn how to fight it" you might be in trouble but this is PURE SPECULATION on my part. If you've DLed some "tools" or "maps" for A2 that was a program, you might "unknowingly" have download some cheats. Or maybe "your friend" did. For those of you worried that a hacker may have injected harmful scripts to your client, don't worry as that's impossible. The hacker would have to change the mission/mod itself and compile it with the malicious script and then make the mission run the script from your PC which I find very, very strange. The downloading of the malicious script can only be done when joining (from lobby, you click ok and get the receiving mission file on a few kB) and not on the fly - and as I just said - only from a server that's running a malicious mission/mod. Those who worry about the latest beta's - don't. They're already tested and approved by BE and they don't do anything except the server not allowing/listening to certain commands that there's no reason for running on client-side (but still allowed by BE as old and new server and client versions are supposed to work with each others on the beta stage). And finally those rumors about injecting scripts to get rcon password and GUIDs doesn't mean you lose you're CD-key. That's why they're using GUIDs - it's a one-way hash that's can't be reverted back to your CD-key. There's a neglible chance that a key generator made your key, and BE bans double keys, but that is very tiny. If that is the case they'll see that the second key came from a completly different ISP and possible country and you might be heard. TL;DR: * BE bans on commands your sending to the server that you never ever will as a legit user * BE can't catch the really clever hackers (now) due to the open structure of Arma * Changing config or skins will not cause a ban * Using the latest beta won't cause a ban * Using hacked items won't cause a ban * Being molested by a hacker won't cause a ban * Hackers getting your GUID doesn't give him your CD-key * BE MIGHT ban if you have 3rd party hacker software on your machine but not using it Now to all you "But what if / about X!" sayers replying - think about this. Very, very few Arma2 players are running vanilla A2. They're running atleast one mod, usually multiple at the same time. BE doesn't care (or know) about mods/add-ons - it's just Arma2 to it. A2 players are running add-ons that give them rifles, vehicles, items, skins, modules, enhanced AI, functions, code that don't exist in the original game on mods that might significantly alter the game/gameplay, they use modified sound, skins, models - you name it, it's been made and used. And none of them has been caught by the latest BE update or complaining on the BIS forum. PS! I can't say 100% that you're guilty, I find it very likely, but regardless - send a mail to BE with your ID and if they have false positives - they will correct it. I assume - as it hasn't happened so far... Edit: I forgot to say that BE is working with the devs about some bigger changes that will make BE a lot more powerful and effective to catch hackers, so it will get even worse for hackers.
  7. It is not about updating the hive, it is a bug. Even if i update it again to the latest version, it won't help... Some reboots just lack some tents/vehicles. Sincerely. Fuck off, from a admin.
  8. But an insane amount of servers don't keep track of vehicles (and tents) when restarting, probably because of ignorant admins not updating the hive. It is extremely annoying.

    Vehicle spawn locations

What do you need to get a vehicle working? Does it differ between vehicles?
  10. Nope, you dying has no effect on the vehicles you find!
  11. As the other mastermind behind this idea, I would like to thank you guys already for the positive feedback. That will be the thing that makes this eventually possible. I confirm we will be recruiting and we will need help especially in the beginning to get this service running. If you are interested in helping us with our cause, please PM me. The message should contain infromation on how you could assist us(manpower, vehicles, gear). Lets use this thread for suggestions and feedback!
  12. Can anyone provide a link to reliable map with spawn locations? I dont think all the vehicles have been taken on my server yet as I have only seen 1 pickup truck tye vehicle and never again seen anything else... no chopper or nothing! :\ Just getting a bit bored of walking EVERYWHERE!

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?

As a player who plays in a clan from time to time, we like to have enough vehicles that on some nights (usually weekends, aka Friday/Saturday night) we can do some night time raids etc. Problem is, all our vehicles eventually get stolen. In order to actually have enough vehicles for the nights we wanna have a bit of fun we have to constantly steal vehicles, whether they be from other players camps or their spawn points or whatever. Because we usually roll these night time raids with at least 6 people we usually need at least 3 vehicles. ATVs are really good, but guaranteed if we only take 3 ATVs there will be nothing left of them by the weekend. So we steal as many as we can and hide them so we have any chance of doing what we want to do. We are vehicle hoarders because they are constantly stolen or destroyed on site. If people left them alone, we wouldn't need to take more than our share.
  14. Anyway... Speaking as someone whom currently has multiple vehicles collected among his four-person 'team'... I fully support reducing the vehicle despawn-and-reset-when-not-in-use interval to 3 days instead of 7. I agree, 7 days is far too long. And if I'm not using a vehicle for more than half a week, not even for storage, then I don't deserve to have it. Let a player who is more active in the game enjoy it. Oh yeah, and guys? Pro tip? You really wanna hold on to your vehicles, then DON'T HIDE THEM ON THE MAP FRINGES. THAT'S WHERE EVERYONE LOOKS. Be a boss and pick a clever location in the center of the map somewhere. Thick copses of evergreens off in the middle of the woods with no obvious landmarks, taking care it's not on some logical straight-line trajectory between two places players are likely to visit. I have hidden vehicles in the middle of the map on a server in the 90th percentile of popularity for WEEKS.
  15. You have exactly one non-crap vehicle there. Good luck hiding those rainbow-colored civilian vehicles on a server that actually has a lot of players for any length of time. Get more than one UAZ, multiple motorcyles. And maybe the Gaz (fastest vehicle on pavement in the game, huge fuel capacity, only one per server). Then I'll be impressed. P.S. lol @ your tractor. Why even bother?

Cheat Finder (script parser for admins)

I don't see your tool as competing. That tool is for scanning files, personally I prefer yours - the community gets bent out of shape when we kick/ban someone at the best of time and I prefer to have control on what I'm banning for. setVehicleInit - which you quite rightly flag, can be used to spawn vehicles - can be in the log files legitimately. Don't abandon it just yet.
  17. So yesterday about 16 hours ago, some hacker came onto the server I go onto and blew up all the vehicles bar the bikes which cannot be blown up as they have no fuel (however they were damaged in both wheels and hull) He then put in this mortal combat script that disappeared after a restart. The good part is the admin managed to ban about 10 people for hacking in vehicles as well they were all gone for over 15 hours and people were still using some. Bad news is there has been a few restarts since and no vehicles have respawned as of yet, now can anyone tell me if there is a timer or do we have to wait for the hive admins to click a button? I mean it does allow people to find hackers very much easily but we also want to go back to enjoying the game and if a hacker can destroy them with a script why do they take so long to reappear?

Where to find the good stuff ?

Hey, know you posted this to find out where to find items and I agree with the Charb & tbh most of our clans stuff has been found in ludicrous tent cities of duped items, my skype real name is Damien Cabrol, can send you the map reference coordinates for some tents I left after a thunderdome hit the server at the north west airfield, their you can find night vision, gps, ghillie suit, satchel charges L85, M4SD etc. :) as long as your not a dick and don't take everything then its cool man. Been playing for a few months now and your best bet other than this is to head north and just wander through the woods on a few servers, I keep stumbling over tent cities when i've got no compass or anything. also just beyond the small inlet of water extremely north east is a great place to go for vehicles, every numpty and their mum seems to hide stuff their :) hope this helps and other than that good luck finding stuff once you get sniped with our shit > goddamn everyone has an AS50 or M107 at the moment, wish they would do and total server/character wipe if you ask me as the hacker/dupe situation is rather out of hand (not that I haven't taken advantage, but I would trade starting from scratch for dealing with all the pussies that wander back to cherno/electro with .50 cal rifles anyday)

    ADMIN ABUSE US 935

This is Chris (Crit in DayZ) and I am one of two admins on server 935. I would like to start off by first stating that we do not own a camp on our server, other than some pedal bikes. We had a helicopter a few days ago and it was stolen from us, that's it! It's truly amazing how some DayZ players can get so unbelievably butthurt that they feel the need to concoct some story in their mind that justifies them dying and their right to be angry. Also, YOU do not pay or contribute to the server so coming to these forums and acting as if you are entitled to anything at all is absolutely inane. We pride ourselves on providing a lag-free and mostly hacker-free environment, so these kind of comments are just the sort of things that would make me cancel a server. Good to know there's a Ural floating around. P.S. the "proof" you have isn't "proof" at all. I'm pretty sure you already knew that though, or you're 16. **EDIT: I noticed in your original post that you seem to think [uRF] is administrating our server. I don't know who these people are and they do not have admin privileges on my server. Where are you getting any of your information?** Two other servers? How aspie can you possibly be? We have one server and I have no idea where you've come up with the idea that we have more. There is only one other admin other than me and he only plays while I am on so I can assure you that these accusations are completely inaccurate. You people are exactly the niche part of this community that I cannot stand. P.S. I'm going to be redundant to prove a point. WE DO NOT HAVE A CAMP. I have not taken anything from you, we have not moved any vehicles. Get over yourself.

    Lack of Loot? 95777.

All I noticed that all tents are gone on my home server - also all vehicles gone too :(
  21. Deetwo

    Legit Survivor.

That's all I do as well, and I generally find vehicles that need repairs......which would lead me to raiding towns with industrial buildings filled with zombies. Hell, if anything I should have less kills with my silenced m4.
  22. Thats not from Hive, its from GameSpy -_- hive only stores server specific details such as objects (tents/vehicles) and player stuff like equipment, medical condition and location.
  23. Scumbag Sam

    Legit Survivor.

Mainly travelling looking for vehicles. I will post updates ;P
  24. wtfosaurus

I'd like to see more vehicles added to DayZ

I agree with more vehicles if it's going to be on a larger map. vehicles are pretty easy to find if you know where to look for them. pro-tip check the west border and the north border!
  25. Saved vehicles are not supposed to have a delay on the spawn time, something is clearly wrong with the object streaming from hive.
