  1. I probably didn't make this clear enough although some posters picked up on that just fine. When travelling, you do not spawn in a single point. You spawn anywhere on the coast depending on your departing position. That's tens of kilometers of coastline. You cannot realistically camp tens of kilometres of coastline. Recon and look-ahead scouts would eliminate any chance of you still running into someone on the coast, in case you're that worried (e.g. if you're transporting valuables). That's another reason for teamplay. Another reason to get bigger vehicles to travel.Much like in EVE, travel requires speedy or sturdy vehicle, team of friends, certain skill, patience and balls, lots of balls.

    Vehicles would be far more accessible if the off-map despawn function actually freaking worked. Within a week of heli's being reintroduced, they've all been found and hoarded by asstards.
  4. 5 nights in a row now of Rampant cheating has forced our hand. We have spent months working hard to build regulars and a community which in the last week of camps and vehicles being constantly destroyed by cheaters, spawned helicopters, teleporting, god mode, instal kill on all players, aimbots and more has been destroyed, our regulars have left for other servers and DE 188 is shutting down. Even with Active admin, several of whom were on most of the day and night, I either can't ban them fast enough or can't ban them at all due to severe lack of visability and tools to properly police the server and policing the server becoming a 24 hour job for me and my admins. Server will be up occasionally when we want to play at night but will be shut down for the rest of the time just to stop people greifing the server and it will not be renewing at the end of the month. (10th September) We will be back once stand-alone is released assuming that whilst you'll never stop cheating at least it shouldn't be as stupid as it is now. I also figure it's bad at the moment due to school holidays and the kids being online all day long. It's a hard decision but the simple fact is we just aren't having fun anymore and have lives to live and can't police the server 24/7. Even when we are on we often can't do anything except shut the server down and wait for them to get bored and go somewhere else... Sorry for any regulars but we hope to see you again at Stand alone.     Suggestion: Armored Vehicle

    APC's drive just like any other civilian wheeled vehicle. Tracked vehicles are designed to be as user-friendly as possible, for all the meatheads in this world. If the survivors are smart enough to figure out how to fly a helicopter, they can figure out a tank pretty quick. Shit, do you know how many things you need to do right just to start a fucking heli?

  7. Fortifying buildings leads to the Urban Dead problem; absolutely every freaking house is barricaded like Fort Knox. Armor-plating vehicles sounds like a fun idea. Might even provoke people into taking them out of their off-map hoards once in a while! Wire fencing can stop zombies if you double or triple lay it in the same spot. It becomes thick enough that the pathing AI recognizes it as an obstacle. It also makes a decent barricade against players, since they'll be there for a while removing all the wire!

    Yes but that is the issue with a lot of things. Double edged swords are what make this game great. For example, vehicles great, but they have authentic downsides; noise, maintenance concerns, ect. This would be the perfect downside to having a dog. And rocket did say you would have to "train" your dog somehow. Like 4L4N said, you could have a trainable hush behavior that would keep the dog quiet if you decide to do so. Dogs should have benefits and downsides, not just be standard kit. I once killed a guy in a grocery store because I could hear him eating beans through the wall. But that's quite an authentic situation, which is why it impressed me so much.

Also what the fuck would be the point in having vehicles in the game if they dont work and cant be fixed, no one wants to spend hours fixing a vehicle so they can lose their stuff and time they spent on it a couple of hours later... I feel like a broken record when i say this but will you fucking kids stop whining on every post saying "OMG ITS ALPHA GET OVER IT" or whatever... EXACTLY its an alpha and we are testing it... now tell me what would be the point in testers that dont give feedback on what they have tested?.... morons...

  13. Just a few random ideas to blockade and build a compound: What about adding the ability to move/drag wrecked vehicles using a heavy truck? Wrecks could be put in front of a building or key chokepoint and the survivor would have to plan their own secret back exit. I have seen comments about adding boards and nails to secure houses, which I think is a great idea. I think a nice addition to this would be to give the hatchet the ability to hack a hole in a wooden floor. This would make a secret entrance that you could enter prone. Also, what about the ability to use the tool kit (or add torch to the game) to attach scrap metal to vehicles as a poor man's armor plating? (I have a feeling someone already thought of this, but I couldn't find a post about it.) Finally, I read that wire fencing can stop human players but not zombies. Don't know if this is true, since I have yet to use it in-game. But any barricade that can stop a human should restrict zombies as well.
  14. This is actually well thought out. I just think that ammunition should be a little more rare, and magazines should be a little more common. During a zombie outbreak, it would make sense to find empty magazines (people leaving them when they run out of that kind of ammo, or dropping them in the middle of a firefight, or zombie attack). Ammunition would be more rare. Also, it seems that the military (which ever one it was) came to the area to deal with the zombie invasion. That means you would find discarded military weapons all over the place, usually near dead soldiers' bodies. In reality, if a military left quickly, they'd leave behind piles of firearms. Now at the same time, they might not leave a lot of ammunition boxes, or filled logistics trucks or even working vehicles. What I'm trying to say is, more weapons, more magazines, less ammo. People left behind would be running through easy-to-find ammo (like civilian grade) quickly, and they might not stop to check the dead. So, you'd easily find guns, but military grade ammo would be rare. EDIT: Also next time, don't wait so long to bump your old suggestions.
  15. Why must you resort to hiring hackers when we come into your server and legitly take all your vehicles? I'm assuming TheGrief is your admin and I'm also assuming your a sore loser being as I sniped you last week when your clan attacked us without provocation. After you did that you made an enemy of us and this makes the 2nd time we have taking all your vehicles and relocated them legitly only to have the hackers you hired come and kill us and take them back. Yes we saw the post you made on 4chan asking for a hacker to recover your vehicles before it was deleted. If you ask me its pretty pathetic... Learn to play the way the mod was made to be played or go back to COD. And to all hackers out there: I dare you to turn the hacks off and come after a clan on their home server and try to do everything you do right now. I understand your life may suck and you don't have a girlfriend. boyfriend, cat, dog, turtle, sock puppet or whatever makes you happy but remember this. All of us legit players play this game for one reason, enjoyment. No matter how many times you kill us and make us start over you will not take the joy out of this game for us. In fact it's even funny because now we all see how much we can get before the godmode hacker comes in and wipes us. Just hours before making this post we killed 2 hackers attacking us, then killed the chopper they spawned, THEN killed the 4 guys charging us with axes in pusto and THEN nearly killed the AS50 hacker that shot us all through a wall in less then 1 minute. We are having a blast talking about it and laughing at your patheticness. You cheat...and you still die. So in conclusion, you keep hacking, we will keep finding ways to kill you and then laugh about it for days. Even though this defeats the purpose of why we all got this mod we have adapted to it and are making our own joy out of what we have until battle eye finally fixes everything.     Stealth, Ghillie suits etc

    I'd like to see players having to make their own ghillie camo (to a limited extent, manually building the ENTIRE suit would make me go crazy). I'd also like to see the ability to paint your gun (or just pick a camo), as well as the ability to paint vehicles (or pick camo). But, due to the engine this mod runs on, I don't expect to see any of that until ArmA3 or the standalone game.

  18. I couldn't disagree more with anyone defending the off-limits vehicles hoarding. How could anyone walk hand to hand with this unfair and ridiculous idea? Off-limits means off-limits. Out of bounds. Out of game. Do you really think everyone has the time to walk all the way around the map and go off-limits everyday, only to find a single vehicle? Like we weren't already walking enough in Dayz. People who play this game a lot clearly have a huge advantage and I have no problem with that. However, when it comes to discuss wether or not vehicles should be allowed to go off-limits, I'm seriously disturbed one can honestly defend this ''valid'' point, like it has been said above. It's so obviously unfair that I wonder why I even have to write this post...

    There's no way to retaliate against banditry in the game. Even if you memorize the names and the faces of the people committing banditry, organize a posse, and go out and hunt them all down...guess what. Options Screen: RENAME. RESKIN. Even if you try to play by the rules of the game, it is impossible to punish banditry in any way. The only thing you can do is wait for bandits to attack you and then fight back giving up a precious first shot in a game where sniper rifles and assault rifles are overpowered compared to every other weapon. It's not that there's no organized system of punishment and retaliation, it's that the code lets bandits metagame their way to safety completely avoiding detection, revenge, and punishment by abusing the game system. And this is on top of the fact that banditry is just easier than surviving. Bandit skins are necessary because there is currently no way in the game to keep track of what people do, even within the game world, that cannot be circumvented by liberal application of disconnecting and the options menu. And considering 90% of this game is being played by people with walkthroughs and gameFAQs open with every calculation of every loot drop available and arguments over whether or not putting vehicles in unlisted parts of the map is acceptable gameplay and spirited arguments for this to be added because "it's getting too hard for me to keep my loot!". Give me a break. This game needs a come to Jesus moment, and it starts with the fact that banditry is the only protected style of gameplay in the code thanks to the ease with which you can remove all trace of your activities from your profile and the massive amounts of damage weapons do...and it ends with the fact that almost no one is seriously playing a game where dying causes you to lose your equipment -- this is, of course, why we get so many posts suggesting we add leveling systems...because the player base is just plain dismissive of the very idea of consequences for dying unless you're a new player...like people who have been around longer have earned the right to cheat, manipulate, and abuse the game code.
  21. I imagine alot of people will not agree with this however; This is meant to be a zombie simulator and realistic, so how does having your car blow up after 6 hours create that? Infact going further with this, there wouldn't be any fuel left in rl so in turn there would be no cars at all.. Anyway getting off point. Most people commenting on this, have never used a vehicle or kept one for any about of time, they have simply seen on youtube you can get trucks or a bus and now are bitching they haven't got one after 20 minutes of searching and blaming hoarers. The thrill of finding a vehicle is FUN, the task of then maintening and keeping secure is FUN. I've used 4 vehicles in the past month and abit i've been playing. And only just managed to keep a vehicle for the past 3 days. Then we found another, we stored it, we drove it, crashed it, moved on. I have no problem if people want to store something off map, I just have to search alittle bit harder, but for everyone moaning: Maybe alot of the vehicles have been destoryed. Maybe don't just search where the loot map says there will be a vehicle. Switch server Or, just play the game, and you'll find one when you find one. I imagine now that this will be trolled but oh well, it is the internet, Just i thought I should let you know that. I don't hoar off map, I'm too lazy to drive/walk back that far..

As such, I have hours of experience flying helicopters of all varieties, including the Huey (One of my favorite choppers). If you are nervous about flying a helicopter you have repaired due to lack of experience with flying (Arma does have a learning curve with air vehicles), then you can contact me and I will fly it for you, free of charge. You can come to me, or I can come to you. I will come unarmed and with nothing on me but some bandages. I will fly for as long as you need.   24. I know there is a bug regarding the Bicycle and Dirt bikes that when you jump off and get back on it repairs whatever damage. However, I have NEVER seen this happen to any other vehicles. So my question to you all is this....are they now hacking to repair vehicles instantly? Have had several helos repaired instantly right in front of me from 100% damage to all parts after we shot them down. However, any attempts to replicate this "instant repairing" by entering and exiting has failed to produce anything. So I'm suspecting people are hacking and repairing it some how. Thoughts? Have you seen this? Can you reproduce it?

I'm not really upset, I know this is a bug and I read somewhere that if your instance ID on your server is over 6000 (mine is in the 7000's) vehicles don't spawn in, which doesn't make much sense since we have had vehicles for quite a while now, but after the last restart they disapeared... Everything... Will spam restarting the server get them back? Or is it just a matter of playing the waiting game? The world may never know...
