Yes they are, sorry but anyone telling you otherwise is kidding themselves or playing on empty servers, expect to be turned into a dog, chicken, seagull, sheep, cow, teleported into the ocean or to the moon, vehicles and guns that don't even exist in DayZ being spawned, chased by invisible/invincible players, parachuting cows and you and the rest of the server to be sent to thunderdome (a purpose built death match arena from mad max where you must fight to the death) that being said, it's still a load of fun, at least some of them are creative: http://i.imgur.com/I3G21.jpg

  3. that comes from crashed/destroyed vehicles. its a bug that exists even in basic Arma II from what Ive read. A restart will remove it but im currently examining logs so itll be a little bit.
  4. Not a lot, sadly. Most people have to ask... :( And, yes, having a team does make things easier. Such as the fact most players won't fuck with you because they see that you have 8-10 other people with you. Even smaller groups of 4-5 players tend to back off when they see us rolling through. Oh, and not to mention, we can clean an entire camp out with everyone on and 2 vehicles going :P
  5. Ok so I am hosting my own server (in west coast America) and I over estimated how much my friends would actually play..... (facepalm) So now it sits there turned off waiting for us to rescue the newly spawned UH 1H Huey's. I have already set up a base in this server with basic vehicles and enough good weapons and ammo for 10 - 12 people (Clearly some trust will be needed before I show you this base) So what I'm looking for is a large group that has already been formed where mainly everyone knows everyone and they are happy for me to join in with there DayZ shenanigans but these must be mature player/survivors only over 21 yo. Please leave your steam name with me as I don't add people I do not know.... normally Thanks guys and girls

    Admin see someone driving around in a Black SUV, right? If this would have happened our server, you would have been told that the vehicle was hacked in, and to get out so it could be destroyed. If you refused and quoted the ridiculous rule of Rockets, "you can't be kicked/banned for using a scripted/hacked in weapon/vehicle if you didn't script/hack it in" you would have been kicked, the vehicle destroyed and that would have ended the problem. Saying that it is wrong to script in a weapon/vehicle that is not in the MOD, but it is ok to use it as long as you didn't introduce it to the game is asinine. Why do you ask, well Players A - E all pitch in $5 to buy a BE Bypass. They then proceed to have Player A script in multiple weapons/vehicles, and everyone grabs one and goes about their merry way causing havoc in the server. Player A could be banned, but players b -e could not, how is that right in any universe? They should have asked you to get out so they could destroy it, if you refused, kick you, destroy it and continue having fun.

    Camo Neting/Mesh

    What would the general consensus be on having a type of camo netting or mesh in order to cover up vehicles i.e hide them. Would make sense to be able to hide from choppers passing over then landing and stealing your beans from inside. Just saying
  8. I'm sorry if this isn't in the right area, but I'm really confused as to what happened or where I should appeal/report this. I was on US 405 hosted by SecOndSight2S.com. I found a tent city (maybe the admin's tent city?) and there were 4 satchel charges in the tents. As soon as I tried to use one, the server automatically kicked me, citing something about spawning vehicles (I didn't bother writing down the message). "Fine," I thought, "I guess the admins own this camp and disabled the use of satchel charges to protect it." So I rejoined from the kick and played on the server for an hour more or so. Several hours later I try to rejoin and it says, "You were kicked off the game. (BattlEye: Banned (Spawning Weapons))" Does this mean BattlEye has banned me for using a satchel charge? If so, why am I seemingly only banned on this server? If I had known satchel charges were illegal to place I would have never tried but they are listed at DayZDB and DayZ Wiki so I figured they were legit. Does anyone know what I should do about this? I'm worried I'm soon to be banned from all servers and the only thing I did was try to place a satchel charge. Thank you for all the helpful responses, as always.
  9. ok.........So on my teams server which is fully updated arma2 version and dayZ version blablah.5 i set up 10 tents, save them each, put something in 2 of them and saved them again. restarted server. all tents there with gear in them. havent check vehicles yet.
  10. i been actually playing on very low population servers . 5 to 10 players at peak times , 1 in normal times (me) the problem doesent come from server choice , i tried 10 differents servers , high pop , low pop , server friends with no players at all . the result is always the same. i have no problem stashing tents none of my camps without vehicles gets busted so my conclusion is my camp get busted because of the vechicle and because of the wallhack tents/vehicles/players locator (esp). all my camp got unbusted for like 3 weeks now , but every time i bring back a vehicles there no matter what the camp will be destroyed the next 5 hours . its not vehicles disapearing (i got that bug once) because i see the behicles destroyed wrecks and flat tents. i understand a ural is big and might get my camp busted , but that happened as well only with bikes and motorbikes hidden and impossible to see without tree hack or esp wallhack.
  11. So after you were killed by hackers again and again you thought they might stop when u were stashing vehicles? Sounds like It'd be more likely you would be targeted really. Hacking is becoming a major problem, don't expect to be able to stash up all kinds of vehicles and equipment and still have it the next day. That said, not all vehicle and tent disappearances are caused by hackers. An awful lot of people out there are farming camps rather than risking high end loot spawns. You think you found a super-secret hiding spot that no one else could have thought of? Think again my friend, if you've thought of it then everyone else has as well. All of that aside, if you want to minimise your chance of having a hacker take a giant shit over your game time, then I would suggest staying away from high-population servers that are full or nearly at capacity, as these are just the kinds of servers that hackers target so as to piss off as many people as they can. Also if you see or hear ANYTHING that is even slightly out of the ordinary, log out and go somewhere else (large amounts of livestock in one place, dogs, chunks of people dying at one time, zombies aggroing onto nothing at all, flying saucers ~u know the drill). Does anyone knows a server that doesent broadcast ip in dayzcommander and 6 launcher ? so i can avoid "hackers hoppers" i don't wanna stash all vehicles, the previous camp was just ural + few tents , nothing huge i used to drive it at night so i store all the weapons i collect and bring them back. what options do i have now only 3 i bet. -finding hackers free server -finding a server that doesent broadcast name -starts to hack and cheat people tell me stashing is bad but im playing the game is not like im leaving my ural there all day long , when i logs in i drive it all night.....

    Is using a satchel charge a bannable offense?

    I hid the satchel charges at various tents/vehicles. My friends will be logging in soon to aquire them. I'll give the server admins a chance to respond, but if they don't my friends should be able to verify that either the SA or BattlEye is kicking people automatically for using satchel charges and then this server is banning people for it.
  14. The issue is not with gameplay on the locked server being unfair. The issue is on that server clans/groups of admins/whoever has access can stockpile gear in tents out in the open, use all of the vehicles to easily and quickly navigate the map, and stockpile gear from the airfeilds and downed choppers and then jump to open servers using their unfair advantage against others. If you can keep a stockpile of weapons in a tent right at the NW airfield on a locked server and easily jump back and forth to public servers you have an unfair advantage. Or, if you can drive a bus straight in to Cherno with your entire clan on it and leave it there while you jump to another server with your easily looted weapons because no one on your locked server will steal it that's an unfair advantage. It's the fact your player and personal inventory can hop with you to unlocked servers that make the locked server inappropriate and a potential vehicle for abuse.

  16. I've had just about every vehicle in the game so far and my bases get destroyed, a lot. You have to spread out your bases so that they aren't noticable as much and don't become a target. My team once had 7 vehicles at once in one place including a V3S, Ural, and a Chopper, and that did not last long at all because it becomes a giant bullseye to anyone that finds it. EDIT: I personally like to just have my trusty bicycle and various tents stashed around the map.

    Some hacker kept turning the server night so i restarted it, afaik all vehicles and tents are where they should be.

    DayZ on consoles

    The closest game I can think of to ArmA or DayZ would be the earlier Socoms, none of which are found on the PS3. Even then, the vast majority of Socom fans hated Socom 3 because of the big maps and vehicles. I guess they'll hate DayZ even more. Socom had a lot of what this game offers in terms of combat and freedom while avoiding the arcade nature of other shooters. (unless you played the same small deathmatch maps again and again) Most of the tactical game play was found in the singleplayer campaign though but S3 did offer more freedom for that in multiplayer. But yeah, Socom titles were not blockbusters.. A lot of other hardcore features like bullet drop can be found in other console games but usually not all found in the same place. There are plenty of hardcore gamers floating around the console landscape but there are not really any solid games for them to coalesce around. The console market is pretty terrible at the moment and there is much too much focus on DLC and the publishers seem more interested in milking the fans of every penny until a franchise dries up. That branch of the gaming industry (maybe all?) is much more interested in getting people to buy the next over hyped piece of garbage than building solid titles. Console gamers want games like DayZ. I've heard it again and again and I honestly hope Rockstar has taken notice of DayZ's success. They're probably the only current console focused developer that could pull this off without fucking it up too much. They were halfway there with GTA4's multiplayer and even a less hardcore persistent sandbox game would be a wild success on consoles. I think DayZ could be quite successful on consoles but not on this current generation of hardware.

  22. Since yesterday when I updated to 1.7.2.5, I am having some weird thinks going on. The most noticeable is the kill count. Whenever I log in it's reset to 0. Including the humanity. After the update I tried to reconnect to the server I was playing, which had a vehicle that I was about to hide. Since versions were different, I get the eternal loading screen and did force-quit. I tried then log into a updated server, but the moment I connected I spawned in the wildness and my character was dead. Strange because I could move freely and even took a screenshot. http://steamcommunity.com/id/shigues/screenshot/956140577740415154?tab=public I disconnected from the server and tried again. Now I was on the shore without nothing. Not even bandage nor flashlight. All gone, but my Coyote backpack, which is strange. Another weird thing was my kill count. It had all the previous life stats. Was I really dead? Since I got a nice "hero" outfit and wanted to see the changes in the game, I didn't mind very much about having all my gear lost. So I played until Cherno. Then I noticed that my kill counts were 0 again! I read on the forum that if you get killed by zombies and respawn, it does fix the problem. But I found a bus moments before suicide, and decided to try it too. Ended up I got killed by a hacker, who later took the bus (I really don't want to get into this subject). So, I got killed and respawn on the shore like everybody else. I have been alive since, but my stats are reseting like crazy. I don't know what is happening! Also, it seems I cannot save tents or vehicles, as they disappear from where I left them. If anyone can help, I will be very thankful!

    need to know if this is cheating

    I can't be 100% certain as I'm not flawless with scripts myself, but those all look like blacklisted scripts to me that are ban worthy. Wait until someone else chimes in, but as far as createvehicle goes, yes... they were spawning in vehicles. Addweaponcargo looks to me like they gave themselves weapons, at least the case with that M4A1 CCO SD which is a hacker favorite as far as legit weapons go. If he's spawning in the vehicle, then I'd be flabbergasted if they weren't spawning in those weapons for themselves. Ban them on the vehicle script. That's enough on it's own. The torquem guy looks suspcious. Removes all weapons and then adds an AS50 and nato ammunition. I'd throw a temp ban on that guy until someone official can chime in and say whether or not that was the right call, and then remove it if necessary and if it is indeed bullshit, change the temp ban into permanent. That's just what I'd do. Don't take my word on it alone.

    No vehicles spawning on new server.

    Vehicles should now spawn on all servers up to Instance ID 12.000. They will spawn at the start of the server, so if your server is running, they will appear after the next scheduled restart.
