  1. LOL im sorry about all the restarts. Were having troubles with it atm so were debugging a couple things. Also, first chance at loot doesn't exist either...all the vehicles are despawning on our server so its been a free for all the whole time they have been up.
  2. Hey Sam. I have spoken to our server host. He said that the tents and vehicles should save automatically. save. I However know this not to be true... as the server just restarted and we lost our motorbike and two bicycles. I wis htehre was a way to have a server message come up when the server has reset but that requires scripts and a dedicated server. Unfortunately this server is only a gameserver hosted by Vilayer. and a dedicated server would cost me 3 times as much per month so its not somthing thats going to be happening. We are currently playing around with what will be the best automatic restart times... Ill keep this thread updated with restart times.once we have finalised what times we want to keep them at... Any suggestions are welcome.

    M107 vs AS-50

On the M107 you got a slideable zoom, on the AS50 its a toggle between the two scope levels. The AS50 is slightly bigger, at least I think. The AS50 makes less noise to players (i think the "aggro range" on zombies are the same. The AS50 can use both the AS50 rounds (MORE damage, mostly used on vehicles) and the normal M107 rounds (still one shot on players) Downside on the AS50 is the sounds. The M107 sounds WAY cooler, but if you have both, definatly go for the AS50.
  4. I know its already been posted that vehicles and tents are not saving inventory but my vehicles are not saving at all. It took about 10 days to get them to spawn in the first place and now they do not save on our server. When vehicles started spawning we found 2 atv's, Truck, Bus a Vs3 and several bikes and since then a few of them disappear at a time when server reboots. Its extremely frustrating to search ALL DAY for vehicles fixing them and such only to have them vanish the next time server reboots. As a clan we have each spent probably 6 days total trying to find vehicles for our clan and we either come up completely empty handed or it vanishes the next day. I'm really starting to think i am completely wasting my time here. 3 weeks owning a server now and nothing to show for it whatsoever. We have basically no camp, no vehicles and clan members have completely lost interest in the game. Tents and Vehicles need to be fixed or people will just give up and snipe each other all day...oh wait that's happened already, never mind.

    Zombie free maps

I also use editor a lot to test out weapons, practice sniping, try out vehicles, etc. It is highly not recommended to learn how to fly a heli only when you find it in DayZ :D
  6. I got an email from gamed!de that our server would be blacklisted when we lock it again. Before you start flaming, read what I have to say. Almost everyone knows, at least the server admins and hosters, tents and cars aren't loaded correctly after a restart, if players force the the server to start the mission, by clicking "okay". That forces me to lock the server after restart for 2 minutes, to prevent players clicking on "okay". gamed!de wrote me, they have shut down my server to prevent it from getting blacklisted. Can anyone confirm the tents and cars are loaded correctly after a restart, when player force the server to start the mission? i was told, since the last Hive version this bug would have been fixed. If not, I will lock the server after a restart and if it gets blacklisted then it's okay, because the server repesents our clan and we don't want a server, which is unplayable, because it has no tents and cars. Also after 3 days we still have no vehicles on this server but on our other 2 servers they appeared right after the first start.
  7. Our camp was gone today on US 1192. Vehicles gone but the tents weren't there either. At first I thought we had been jacked but now I'm thinking the server reset or something? None of the tents are there and I thought there was a model of a flattened tent left over if you run them over... nothing is there.

No vehicles spawning on new server.

8 Days without vehicles now... it's getting really annoying :(
  9. 3 days and no vehicles on DE 1645 hosted by gamed!de and with Id 8299 Also on our two other servers no tents are saving.
  10. metal (DayZ)

    M16/M4 Beta Mags

DayZ is a mod on top of Arma2, all items from Arma2 are already there. That is why hackers are able to spawn items and vehicles that aren't in DayZ. All it takes to add an item from Arma2 to DayZ is to type it's name and spawn probability at a proper place in a file called config.cpp and after new version release it will start spawning in DayZ.
  11. Hi, I made this thread to share some thoughts on what I think could offer great gameplay experience and attract new / keep more players. 1. Game Longetivity - I understand it's necessary for the server restarts to respawn all items, clear dead bodies, remove wirefences etc, so that there isn't too much clutter - but I think that rather than having vehicles/items lifetimes depending on the server to restart, that they should depend on a health variable... This way, when you go to the effort of building wirefences and trenches etc around the base where you stockpile weapons, ammo and cars, the server restart will not wipe everything. Players that are not interested in PVP are encouraged to play the game more by this, also. 2. Raids & Clan wars This really wouldnt be anything needed to be coded in, (Albeit some features could be coded in to "support" the idea), it would be more so the fact that by being able to build a base that won't dissapear unless it is destroyed, you're able to encourage raids on enemy players / groups bases. This could not only potentially lead to some exciting gameplay, but also be the stepping stones for a larger community. The ability to "save" your base and stockpile of items/vehicles will encourage players to depend on teamwork. Clans will start to form, as it will be attractive for players wanting guns / ammo, for a better chance of survival or for a competitive aspect. You're already able to wear clan tags in the game and there are numerous clans already out there, but this would bring some meaning behind it all :) For example, stuff like flying over a field and spotting a largeish base with some cars and etc, then planning a 10 man raid on it to gather supplies for your own base, or two large clans (20+ man teams) going at it in CQC with sniper support to see who's the more dominant team.. These ideas could be implemented with the existing foundation of dayz code without changing too much, but for some offbeat abstract ideas that would require more work: Clan territory where you're able to mark an area of the map as your own, Ladder with some kind of point system

  13. This is apparently a kown problem, since the new patch, vehicles either disappear, or they respawn totally randomly, weve had vehicles turned into other vehicles at the place last saved, server restarts, and a ural and a 4x4 turn into a single bike, happens on every restart, tents are still fucked to.
  14. Someone said that admins can't see players locations anymore, could that possible be because they are changing how server andclient handle that information/packages? There are a few programs/scripts out there that either read the incoming packages or directly from memory information like where players are located, where items and objects are (e.g. tents, vehicles, etc.). Just because you are affected by patches does not mean that you are the cause/target. Also, for those of you that don't bother reading the BI forums, they said this with the latest patch: source: http://forums.bistud...(1-62-MP-build)

No vehicles spawning on new server.

add me, its been 7 days since we lost our vehicles now..
  16. Since yesterday when I updated to 1.7.2.5, I am having some weird thinks going on. The most noticeable is the kill count. Whenever I log in it's reset to 0. Including the humanity. After the update I tried to reconnect to the server I was playing, which had a vehicle that I was about to hide. Since versions were different, I get the eternal loading screen and did force-quit. I tried then log into a updated server, but the moment I connected I spawned in the wildness and my character was dead. Strange because I could move freely and even took a screenshot. http://steamcommunity.com/id/shigues/screenshot/956140577740415154?tab=public I disconnected from the server and tried again. Now I was on the shore without nothing. Not even bandage nor flashlight. All gone, but my Coyote backpack, which is strange. Another weird thing was my kill count. It had all the previous life stats. Was I really dead? Since I got a nice "hero" outfit and wanted to see the changes in the game, I didn't mind very much about having all my gear lost. So I played until Cherno. Then I noticed that my kill counts were 0 again! I read on the forum that if you get killed by zombies and respawn, it does fix the problem. But I found a bus moments before suicide, and decided to try it too. Ended up I got killed by a hacker, who later took the bus (I really don't want to get into this subject). So, I got killed and respawn on the shore like everybody else. I have been alive since, but my stats are reseting like crazy. I don't know what is happening! Also, it seems I cannot save tents or vehicles, as they disappear from where I left them. If anyone can help, I will be very thankful!

  18. You found hidden somewhere or in their spawn? if hidden can be hacked vehicles =/
  19. HI! Today, me and my clanmates found 2 vehicles. We saved it many times in the same location on a german server. Few seconds before restart vehicles was there. Unfortunately, after server restart our vehicles gone ;-/ Happened 2 times. The question is: Is it server fault or patch fault? Does anybody know?
  20. I was wondering what everyone else would think about this idea. New items/additions to the game: Handheld CB Radio - Enables the side chat channel. Can read and write. (CB radios come mounted inside construction and military vehicles) Batteries - For the handheld CB of course! Battery status icon possibly? Locations of handhelds: Police stations, fire stations, hospitals, military bases, construction yards. What do you think about this?
  21. My Player name : Jeff (not very original, and probably the problem) Time of ban : Between 2130 and 2200 MST approximate I was playing on US 228 last night with teammates. We had a UAZ stolen from down south, and one of our guys followed it north (on a bicycle no less) before being killed. I was already alone to the far northwest running a LRRP for supplies and camp locations. I started heading east along the northern edge of the map to maybe find the UAZ and opfor. About the halfway mark, I ran into a guy who was on top of a hill. It looked like he had possibly spotted me earlier and was trying to reacquire me. I spotted him through thermals (L85, legally looted off a heli), put a few rounds in his general direction, then retreated back the way I came into a treeline. A short time later, there was a burst of automatic fire towards my original position, I assume in an attempt to flush me or pin me for a flanking maneuver by a teammate. Since they had not D/C'd after my initial volley (a banner event in this game), I stayed in the fight and spent about 20 or so minutes moving around to position myself on the other side of the hill for a flanking shot. I was under a tree doing a thermal scan with no further contact, when I was booted from the server with a "Battleye: Banned for hacking/scripting" message. Thinking it was an error like other Battleye messages, I tried to log back in and was promptly kicked again. I tried another server I frequent, and had no problems, so I know it's not a global ban mistake that's happened as of late. I thought that maybe I had engaged and admin and gotten a rage-ban, but my debug didn't show any extra kills, so the brief exchange of gunfire was bloodless. There were skidmarks on US 228 at the time. My other teammates were further down south getting ghosted on by another group at one of the factories. They killed one of them and found an MG36 with ammo in his inventory. One of my guys has screenshots with the name and inventory, but I don't have that info at the moment. Anyway, there was another Jeff on the server at the time : Jeff(2) to be exact. I'm thinking that maybe he had been hacking and the admins saw his name in the logs and got me by mistake. I and my team have been regulars on the server for a couple of weeks now without incident, and it's a great server. I'm not mad or anything. I would rather the admins be aggressive with the kiddies and get accidentally caught in the net. I would just like to get unbanned since I like ther server and my team has a camp and vehicles there.
  22. Here's all the different playstyles and descriptions of them, these are different pieces you'd be combining into a single playstyle. Interactions with Players: Friendly: Being a friendly player is the most riskiest thing to do, due to the fact that 90% of players kill/shoot on sight, you'd have a hard time finding other friends. IF you encounter another friendly player and decide to team up with them, make sure you pay attention to him, and make sure he's trustworthy enough. Neutral: Being a Neutral Player is my own preferred choice, you'd mainly stay away from other players, and try to avoid encounters with other unknown survivors. Only shoot at unknown survivors when it's necessary (If they shoot at you, or begin to follow you.) Neutral Players should always be paired with a good friend they know in real life, or from some other source. Hostile/Bandit: Being a Hostile/Bandit player is what countless players go for, killing players for fun, killing players for their items, or if you're confident enough, rob a player without killing him/her. The Bandit would stick to himself or with a party of other friends that would be bandits, and try to hunt and kill other survivors, most of the time they like to seek the thrill of going to highly populated areas and hunting for players there. Roles and Combat Roles (If you are in a team): Rifleman: The Rifleman is the main infantry of your team, they primarily use Assault Rifles and are considered one of the most important individuals in your group. They are also very adaptable to almost any situation. (Zer0's Preferred Loadout: L85A2 AWS, G17, and a Soldier Outfit) Marksman: The Marksman would be considered the Sniper of the team, they are adept in long range combat, and primarily use Sniper Rifles and provide reconnaissance, scoping out areas and pointing out threats or interests. They are a menace in the battlefield. (Zer0's Preferred Loadout: SVD Camo, M9SD, and a Ghillie Suit) Medic: Medics are considered to be important, they sacrifice most of their inventory by carrying loads of Medical Supplies. The team however, should carry a very small amount of medical supplies themselves. Medics provide medical aid in the battlefield, and they must be quick and level-headed if they are to effectively help the team. (Zer0's Preferred Loadout: MP5A5, M1911, and Civilian Clothing) Grenadier: Grenadiers specialize with explosives, and are rather risky. They mainly carry firearms equipped with Grenade Launchers, Grenades, Smoke Grenades, and a Rocket Launcher. A team's grenadier must be experienced and must ensure that none of his/her explosives harm the team. They are effective at bombarding enemies in cover with their explosives as well as taking out vehicles. (Zer0's Preferred Loadout: M4A1 Holo, Revolver, M136 Rocket Launcher, and a Camo Suit) Support Gunner: A support gunner helps provide suppressing fire, they inspire fear into the enemy, making them run for cover or change their cover, they prefer to use Light Machine Guns. They carry loads of ammo to provide support to the team. (Zer0's Preferred Loadout: Mk 48 Mod 0, PDW, and a Camo Outfit.) Pointman: A Pointman specializes in CQC/CQB, they prefer to use Shotguns with Pellet Shells or Submachine Guns, they are most effective indoors. (Zer0's Preferred Loadout: Bizon PP-19 SD, Makarov PM, and a Camo Outfit) Engineer: The Engineer helps provide parts for vehicles and help set up barricades, they are also the team's pilot/driver, more experienced at handling vehicles than others. They are to build and take down barricades for the team if necessary. (Zer0's Preferred Loadout: M1014, M9, and Civilian Clothing.) Gatherer/Scavenger: The Gatherer or Scavenger (Doesn't matter), gathers supplies for the group, and are mainly passive until needed. They help sort the team's stock and help direct the team towards points of interests that contain valuable supplies. (Zer0's Preferred Loadout: Lee Enfield, M1911, and a Female Character) Hunter: This role isn't important, but can be implemented in a team. They usually go out alone to hunt animals and refill water canteens, they stray away from all villages/towns/cities. (Zer0's Loadout: Double-Barreled Shotgun or Crossbow, Revolver, and Camo Clothing) Leader/Tactician: The Leader leads and supervises the team, they direct everyone, and make sure the team stays safe. They are the most important, and help provide planning for all operations, places for overwatch, paths to cross. They work closely with the Scavenger to take count of the team's stock, and for scavenging missions. (Zer0's Preferred Loadout: M16A3 ACOG, M9, and a Soldier Outfit) Lone Wolf: The Lone Wolf, depends mainly on themselves, and have their own choice on interacting with players (Seen at the top), they are extremely adaptable and versatile, they choose any kind of playstyle they want, whether it's sneaking or running through a town, or scaring players off. (The List is to updated by me or any players willing to add suggestions or criticism.) Thanks for reading!

    US 401

We hadn't moved the Ural since reacquiring it after Shaun of the Bread and his clan took it out. The rest of the vehicles were easy to get out, we just took down fortifications to get them out. We'd just found the V3S again last night, we took down some sandbags, rolled it right over the wire. After we were done playing for the night, around 0600, I reset the server for the morning reset, which would have respawned those fortifications we took down.

    US 401

Every person I've killed that had an AS50 TSW or a G36C SD or an M4A1 ACOG SD or anything that wasn't on the official weapons list, I immediately buried the body, any time a clan mate found a questionable rifle we buried it in a fire pit and got rid of them. And yeah I can restart the server right now. All the fortifications are back, the building is back, the tents are back......and it doesn't matter cause now everyone knows where it is and it becomes impossible to even defend it because people think "meta-gaming" is cool and they'll just spawn directly inside the place by hopping from one server, to our server...just to get some kills and some lulz, without even trying to fight us fairly. And again, we have to relocate vehicles now, we're not going to get those back with a server reset, they were destroyed. Simple facts are, in my attempt to explain my reasoning here and even with my willingness to remove the bans if I misinterpreted the logs, everything we had is lost. The place is radioactive now. Anyone reading this forum could show up at any time simply to get some easy kills and to hit the tents that won't fucking stop restocking their contents. To be honest I'd rather just leave the place destroyed at this point. Bringing it back will do nothing but create a public supply depot at this point.
  25. SPESSMEHREN (DayZ)

No vehicles spawning on new server.

There are serious problems with the way the database syncing works that cause vehicles to become corrupted after they spawn. The problem is (at least this is how I think it works) when a vehicle's database entry is corrupted, it despawns, but never spawns again. So once your server is running for a while and all of the vehicles on your server become corrupted (and it will become corrupted) none spawn anymore. Private servers do not have this problem since it uses a local database and better syncing code, so if you really want vehicles to spawn, I'd suggest abandoning the "official" hive and setting up a private server. You can add as many vehicle spawns as you want if you go that route. Private servers still suffer from tent problems though. But at least vehicles don't vanish forever.
