Why are cars so rare in Chernarus?
pieflavor replied to kurtthecobain's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
ok let's see... everyone in chernarus is poor as fuck huh? have you guys played the Red Harvest arma 2 campaing? it takes place in the very chernarus, and besides 2 or 3 military vehicles you just happen to have because the army of the US is stationed there, EVERY SINGLE TOWN YOU GO there is a pickup truck and a civilian car operational, every.single.where, they're very common, and each can be accessed and driven for no reason, they also come in different assorted colors. once standalone comes and everyone will be forced to share a server with 200 to 300 people, I expect cars to be just as common as in the arma 2 campaign. of course, they would require maintenance, no car survives so long in a zombie apocalypse, but it's not to mean that zombie attacks make them explode and therefore completely useless. -
You realise that happens in real life? Other than that I think you just solved duping. Server restarts should have an auto-save feature (tents and cars, backpacks if this idea is implemented) meaning that duping isn't possible as well as vehicles spawning back at your camp because you were driving and the server reset.

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
DoctorWrongpipes replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Not sure about tents, but vehicles are infuriating at the moment. Two days in a row now, I've gathered up the parts to repair a vehicle I've found (Day one: UAZ - Day two: GAZ) and both times the vehicles have magically disappeared on server restart...before I've had a chance to add the final missing parts. I save everything at least ten times before I move on/log off. Anyone else having this issue with either repairable or fully repaired/hidden vehicles? I would raise a bug report, but none of my submissions have ever made it to the forum, so it seems pretty redundant. Hopefully the devs will look at this instead of dogs? :) -
DO NOT POST YOUR GLOBAL BAN APPEALS
Alamandorious replied to rocket's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
First off, a note of positive: Even in the Alpha stages of this game, I've been having fun. Just started playing last week and have been enjoying the game immensely, looking forward to seeing where it's going. Secondly: I know it's not your guys's problem, but I've been victimized by Battleye now as well >.< Didn't know it was possible to get banned when I discovered a fully functional Heli next to a crashed one (player crash, not in-game loot crash) at the lighthouse between Cherno and Elektro. Lesson learned; from now on, I'll only get into vehicles if I repair them myself, or one of my friends repair them. Hopefully I'll get unbanned and be able to go back to playing. If not...please, if you're making a stand-alone, don't go with battleye. Sent them off an e-mail detailing what happened, what server it was on, etc. -
Yes, you can save other tents aswell such as vehicles, you can however not "pick it up" and re-pitch it. Only the one that have placed it (with his current life). Even tho you own it, you don't own it, if you died that is. :P hope it answered you question.

@HMS Well it DID get rid of the items because the tents were destroyed by fallen trees (you don't really get a good look in the video), however as soon as the server admins logged back in they restarted the server to get back their items... As far as the remaining tents and vehicles, we made sure to destroy them as well before we left. And as far as the wires and stuff, yeah that really sucks. We were hoping to level the place, it was still impressive, but not quite what we expected.

Depends on what mission file the server admin is choosing and vehicles despawn and respawn after 24 hours I believe it is.

Why are cars so rare in Chernarus?
AryanBoogeyman replied to kurtthecobain's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have rode in or drove almost all the vehicles in DayZ and hands down the best is the pedal bike.... nothing like touring around a PvP hotspot ringing that gay little bell and pissing people off... massive fun. :D -
Well, were were hacked by the clan XXT, they came on our server and blew up our camp once, then went to (our then time rival clan) they tp'd to them shot them up and stole their vehicles. I tracked them down after mowing down one of their bandit members whose Bizon left some dents in my car. Had my clan and KGB swoop in and steal all their stuff. Now, after we had been hacked once, we got up and moved miles away further into the mountains and forest. It was damn near impossible to find our tents. But they TP'd right infront of our guys and light them up, now, we had several AS50's and I haven't seen a single one with rapid fire being shot by someone who ran as fast as the Flash... Currently, were waiting for the server admin to find the logs so he can work on Global banning these people. They suck at PvP, they are so easy to track (knock over trees straight to camp right next to NE from Gorka). They can't shoot worth shit either but w/ God mode our bullets don't do shit. Plus they have 700 ping... Are they playing from the fucking moon? Hacker shit stains... wait, lemme take that back, that's an insult to the shit stains out there.

I found a car and now I can't for the life of me figure out what to do with it. Vehicles are death bait. -
No vehicles spawning on new server.
zorkmid replied to DarkEnergy's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
US 2123 is not saving vehicles correctly. A UAZ came back as a truck after a reset, and some other vehicles disappeared completely :( -
I havent played the game for a while, You get bored eventually once you have half dozen tents and vehicles nothing else to do. The hacker problem is putting me off but ive been thinking of playing for the past few days.

My experience with my friend when he started hacking.
T3hCr0w posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Me and a friend have been playing for a good 4 weeks or so. I've became used to DayZ and it's customs, he however, did not. One day, he resorted to hacking. (Scripts, he said) Anyway. I joined him on a server, curious of what he could actually do. He shown me amazing things, spawning weapons not in Dayz, vehicles, he even gave himself God mode and infin ammo. So I stood before him, in my legit gear. (Ghille, PDW, GPS, NVGs, MK48, etc) Whilst he had a golden AKS and a golden revovler. He asked if I wanted a silenced PDW, I said sure, he spawned me one. We had some good fun, until he started getting obsessed with them. I'm talking, spawning trucks and such, and using different weapons every second, spawning stuff, a lot of stuff. We got to NW airfield, it was empty, not much good loot, didn't care much. He spawned a helicopter, which I polited, on Skype he started to become agressive (Shouting shit like he NEEDS to pilot, He NEEDS to be the leader of us two because he can give us items) I ignored him, got in the helicopter, flew directly above us, he ofcourse started shouting again, "Oh my God get out the fucking heli you knob i'm flying" I got pretty annoyed myself, so I ejected in midair, Heli came back down, killed me, but more importantly, killed him as well. (It was pretty funny actually, aside from his rage) He was then banned as he tried to respawn. So after see'ing how quickly he got banned (we was here for less then an hour or so) I can gladly say, i'll never be a hacker, nore have anything to do with them. The SD pdw was awesome and all, but I felt a bit shitty knowing it wasn't legit, it took the survival part of the game out of it for me. So what about you guys, have any similar experiances? Pic related, this is me and him before he turned into a hacker. (He's the one with the L85) -
No, the problem with Day Z is NOT with the glitches, hackers, bandits, bugs, snipers or artifacts. And before anyone asks, No I am not an asshole sniper, script kiddie, bandit, hacker or duper. The main problem that Day Z is facing is that the game claims to be "Completely Persistent" throughout all servers and log ins. Anyone who has played Day Z for more than 5 minutes knows that this is simply just not true. Tents delete items, flatten, disappear, get eaten by bigfoot, and decide to not let you place them. Same with vehicles, they delete items, reset and overall are just a pain in the ass to keep over 1 day. Not only this, but your inventory and backpack seems to eat weapons and gear as much as anything else does. This leads to my main point. Day Z is a game that rewards being careful and hard work, along with smart play and persistence. It is more disheartening than anything to have your tent that you had stashed with over 10 days worth of weapons, ammo, food, tools and other necessities, be eaten by some problem saving to the hive. THIS is the main problem with Day Z, moreso than hackers in my mind. I believe that this issue should be targeted as #1 alongside as hackers as the game breaking elements of this game. I open this thread up to discussion, agree/disagree. I only ask that i get no "QQ faggot" comments or the whatnot.

Respawn at the beach and gear loss
Kaishi replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Just happened to my friend. He kept his ghillie suit. Lost all his gear, he had A LOT of gear and was working on our vehicles / camp at the time. Kind of terrible. -
beans. that is all. there are already prop models of old style chunky radios with micropohones in the balota tent, traffic tower (I think) and other such places. just make them usable/lootable . Actually make them sorta like vehicles so if they are on the ground, placed, and get shot they get damaged/broken/unusable.

Ive had no luck with saving tents or vehicles. So from my experience, the answer is No.

Houdini's Idea Sharing I really am enjoying this mod and I for one, am very grateful for the work that has been done so far by Rocket and his team. I really appreciate how committed Rocket is himself to us, the fanbase. He and his team DO LISTEN to what we have to say and because of that fact we can help to shape the face of the game and things to come. I know that Rocket is in charge and makes the FINAL decision with regards to the game and that not every idea is going to be picked up on for whatever reason, whether it be Hardware or Software related or indeed the fact that it could just be utter Shite! I am Beginning a Degree in 'Computer Game Technology' in September at Portsmouth University. I love gaming and getting involved with others whom share my passion. I could quite easily sit in a room all day full of like minded people and throw ideas around about game concepts, mods, expansions and anything else vaguely relating to gaming! So to build upon this I wish to share some ideas with you Rocket and the rest of the DayZ community. Some of my ideas may seem outrageous or garbage. Some I will elaborate on quite a lot and other I will just put out there for the rest of you to feed on and let your creative juices flow! I DON'T TAKE CREDIT FOR THESE IDEAS! Some of these ideas may have been shared before but I am no god! I do not know of every idea ever thought of for this game, so please excuse me if they have already been discussed elsewhere or before! Right then, whether you agree with an idea or concept please feel free to share you thought's, I don't mean by raging but by communicating! If you like an idea but feel it could be expanded or elaborated on feel free to share your thoughts! Same goes for the opposite, if you don't like an idea say so, but don't rage about it, be constructive and state how you think it could be done or why it perhaps wouldn't work. This way we can 'Work Together' in giving Rocket some 'Food For Thought' with regards to future development and what may lie ahead for DayZ! To begin with I am going to fire off a couple of ideas that all are welcome to discuss and debate on and I hope that this thread is well read and that ideas are shared and communicated in a mature manner! If the thread seems to be quite popular then I will bring some more crumbs to the table same time next week folks! Enjoi... Week One - Emphasis on Teamwork, Communication and Transport 1) Team & Squad There are many tools available to survivors in DayZ, however with groups of players using other programs to communicate , such as Skype for example, it would be an idea to integrate some form of 'Team comms' within the game. By this I don't mean just the current communication channels available no sir! I mean some form of 'Radio' System on your person to allow players playing in groups, and other survivors on their own, to communicate and organise raids and send out an SOS's ect 'IN GAME' through means of your characters equipment. I feel it can seem rather 'cheap' to use things such as Skype to communicate and It would be an interesting concept to have some form of Radio Equipment available to the player. Whether a single radio format or several ie: A simple walkie talkie to advanced military comms allowing channels with even some form of protection and coding. With the use of the simple walkie talkie players would be able scan channels and pick up on other chatter within the game world and or region of the map. this could in time perhaps lead to more collaboration between players reducing the friction caused by face to face encounters.... With the use of the more military grade comms some form of system could be introduced to allow players to 'Hack' another factions communications (in game via some form of 'Mini Game'). Thus leading to a new 'Class', the radioman, who is skilled at using comms and hacking other factions comms and finding distress signals ect. 2) Vehicle Spawns Currently I am not a huge fan of the spawn system or the amount with regards to vehicles in DayZ. Perhaps a system more in line with the Heli Crash Site's would be an idea? With vehicle's being available in more places and being more 'Randomly' placed. My reasoning for this is simple, Clan's or big groups 'Horde' up and collect all vehicles on many servers, and the simple fact is Chernarus is Bloody Massive! Running everywhere is not why I play the game, nor is it what makes it fun! I know it's part of the game and I don't want it so that everyone has a car and never needs to walk again! But perhaps a change or small increase in this regard would serve to make the game more enjoyable! Again another small concept branching off here would be the 'Class' idea again, this time being 'Mechanic'. Perhaps it would be a thought to have some players be able to be more skilled at repairing vehicles ect (How this could be done? I leave to you to discuss!).To make this 'Class' viable vehicles could be made to be more prone to breakdown? Overheated Radiator? Flat Tyre? ect ect? Food For Thought? 3) Medic? Doctor? Right this Idea I am sure has already been debated about MUCH before! But in line with the other two ideas and this class idea I seem to have adopted, I thought we could get some Ideas going on this too! My main idea with this would perhaps be better remedies for those who are in the 'Medic' Class, Eg a survivor administers a blood pack to another player who has 4500 blood. After the transfusion their blood only rises to 8000? 9000? 10000? say? whereas a medic applying a blood pack could get the survivor back to peak condition at 12000 Blood? Perhaps broken legs could take time to heal, medics could administer first aid and fix them up with a splint to get them back on their feet asap with a small heal time and minimal movement penalty. Without a medic, the procedure could be done by another survivor but would take longer to administer the first aid and they would walk with a limp or hobble for a longer period of time in the game with a slightly larger movement penalty. 3-5 'In game' Hours perhaps? before they are fully fit again. They could also seek medical attention also prior to the conclusion of the natural healing time if they were not patched up by a Medic originally. Perhaps via Idea 1), using the walkie talkie they could sent out an SOS in search of a medic? Right I think I am done for now, I hope you enjoyed reading this post and I look forwards to hearing your ideas with regard to the concepts stated above. As I said before these Ideas may have already been discussed and I take no credit for posting them here! I simply wish to share these thoughts and ideas with you! Peace out and I'll see you in Cherno...

Yesterday I found a pickup, started repairing it, logged on later and my repairs had reset, items inside vanished. Today a friend found a hatchback, started repairing it, server reset and so did all the repairs, items inside vanished. Didn't seem to matter how many times we tried to save the vehicles.

Complete reset of server question for DayZ team.
jamestrendall posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hello so i have been trying to figure out how to do a complete reset on a server as the place is littered with tents barbed wire ect..... and removing them does nothing as upon an automatic server restart everything is back in its last location! I have contacted the server host provider and they say they are not allowed to reset server's its down to the DayZ Team, So i was woundering if its an easy task to have the server completely wiped fresh so its like a brand new server no tents no barbed wire no vehicles nothing untill vehicles spawn atleast on that part lol. If i have to pay for the server to be wiped im more then happy to pay that fee to clear up un'used tents tents that seem to dup items even when you empty the tents take the tent down ect.... as upon the restart the items from said tent are in my back pack and the tent, But the same tent is back with all items back in, Everything has been doubled. I have try'd blowing up tents running them over taking them down replacing tents and saving them but it happens everytime i cant seem to get rid of them, The same thing happens with barbed wire, Someone decided to place over 30 barbed wire at the power plant in electro firestation i spent an hour removing them only to log in the next day to find they have all respawned, This is why i ask for a complete server reset, as its getting beyond a joke. I would of corse clear it with all regulars that play on the server first and ask if its all ok, If they agree then i will be paying any fee needed to reset the server, Could a DayZ dev/mod please either confirm that it is or isn't possible to do this, Or if there is plans to wipe all servers in a future update? Regards James. -
Helicopter D-Spawns every time the server restarts.
jaynic replied to jjeez's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is happening to my server as well (US866). After scrounging through the RPT file for the server, I notice that the issue seems to be with all objects with an ID that is too high. A normal RPT log event looks like this: 10:30:02 "HIVE: WRITE: "CHILD:305:573965:[139,[7366.38,12252.1,0.0183868]]:1:"" Where the 573965 number is the id of the object that is passed back to the Hive. Objects (vehicles and tents) that do not save seem to have ids that look like so: 10:30:02 "HIVE: WRITE: "CHILD:305:5739+e006:[139,[7366.38,12252.1,0.0183868]]:1:"" Notice that the id is too big - and the script seems to exponent it. Obviously, a database (in this case mySql) would not respect it. All of our older vehicles with smaller integers are saving fine. Not saying this is the problem - just my educated guess that this is related. -
Hackers, and the state of the standalone game?
GordonRamsay replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A lot of these posts popping up and I thought I'd join one already rolling. It is sad to me to see so many people's responses. "I have played 400 total hours and no hacker yet". This statement is a lot like saying "It's cold outside today so global warming isnt real!". Your personal anecdotal piece of evidence means nothing. The same could be said for the person complaining. There are some real legitimate problems with the game. As one person stated in a thread the mechanics of the game are heavily focused on gear gathering and survival. Both of these are majorly screwed with by the pressence of hacks, exploits, glitches like the coast spawning or the still persistant artifacts that cover the entire screen at key areas of the map, as well as the unreliablity of servers in general. All of these act against the intended play of the mod, to varying degrees, and should be addressed as problems. Hacks are a problem right now, I don't even need evidence I know it. They seem to become a problem in waves, or rather the problem goes away in short waves of a few days of hack free play until the hackers figure out a new method and we get a week or two of mass hacking. The sad thing to do is to cultivate an enviroment where the community stops bitching at Rocket about it. We should bitch until something is done, or else he should take down that 1,000,000 players banner above the website now as apparently there is no responsibility felt to give those players the intended experience. When I see people posting that this isn't a problem it is alittle sad, you do it to the detriment of the game. And mods on the forums I've noticed have been disgusting about the topic. "I played for 2 hours was fun I declare the game playable and thread locked". Completely ignoring the issue, treating it as a non-issue. This is the price we'll pay for hand holding developement of this game instead of standing up for the fact that you can't hide behind the "alpha" label as minecraft did with "beta" when you have a million individuals playing. You have a responsibility to deliever them, to the best of your ability, a playable mod. Many of those saying it is currently playable likely play the game at a low level (feel free to get offended). To those players who form serious groups, live in the north, start camps with vehicles and gear and try to hide and defend them, the mod is unplayable. Those aspects of it are stripped away by constant teleportation, global kill, and spawn glitches. This area of the game already suffers heavily from the fact that most servers are unreliable and go down for days at a time, some never to come back online again with no warning. You can build a base on a server that seems fine just to have it all disappear. There is no way to check these servers without getting to personally know the admins, there are no dedicated servers hosted by the dayz team, its a completely unreliable system and really hurts the motivation to even build a base. The answer to go onto a low pop server is crap, as that strips the pvp element right out of the game. 2 people online im so scared to move around the map....lets get real, if thats your solution, there is a problem. All of this becomes even greater because it is piled on top of the already huge problem that exists in dayz - altf4 and combat loggers. So lets just all stop pretending the game isnt broken. Yes the game is broken. Yes we should be mad. Yes we should bitch. Yes, they should fix it. And if you havent experienced these problems then wtf are you even doing in this thread? Go play your hack free dayz, and let the people for whom the game has been ruined stay here and complain for the playable mod that we paid for. Plz dont give me that "it's free" bs, Rocket & Bohemia know full well most people buying arma nowadays is for this mod. Can we stop hiding behind the "its free" and "alpha mod" labels that you slap on there to escape credibility please? Ty -
I would like to appeal for the ban of a whole clan known as XXT that also play on the server US 1841. The reason is, they are the only other people who play on the server that my clan (and our allied clan) are on. We have been hacked twice now, and they are the only people on the server. I spent all of today finding cars that they stole from us, and succeeded. We then stole all their vehicles and hacked in weapons. What next? I wake up after a booming headache to hear we were robbed, wanna know how? They teleported to our base (we had our clan mates see them spawn out of no where right in front of them) By who? The bloody XXT. So there. If they are not banned then at least I want others to know that this group are a bunch of scumbags who came on our server, fucking suck at PvP, and hack to win. If they are banned I would like to thank the person in charge of doing so, if this is the wrong place for a swift banning I would like to know so that these pathetic fuckers can be banned. I haven't seen the server admin on in quite some time so I can't directly address him about this. edit: They all have patrol packs and G36 Camo SD's. And were able to move all the vehicles : 2 buses, 1 skoda, 1 old hatchback, 2 offroad pickups, 1 UAZ, 4 ATVs, 1 motorcycle, 1 Ural, 1 V3S in just 30minutes. They are a clan of 4 people.

Ban the clan XXT on Server US 1841 <repost>

same happened to me and my clan leader. hacker teleported to our vehicles and drove off I did manage to get plenty of screenshots which was enough to get him banned off the server. best of luck. -
No vehicles spawning on new server.
erocker replied to DarkEnergy's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Vehicles have spawned on Dallas 2145. Like others, the vehicles didn't want to save their skin or location upon server restart. Since then I've rolled the server back to 1.7.2.4 and all is well.. except for those good ol' graphical glitches. Thanks for giving out high instance ID servers vehicles! :D
