No way, people would put their own survival above all else when it comes down to it. Look at the movie 28 weeks later, the dude runs out on his own wife and leaves her to be eaten by zombies. I'm not saying everyone would do that, but when your adrenaline gets pumping and instinct kicks in, survival is your only motivation. Not that any video game can recreate that instinct, but in real life people don't put anything above their own survival. Sadly in DayZ, the allure of fat loot overrides their survival instinct. For example why would someone go into the NWAF with a winchester? They already have a great weapon to protect themselves. There aren't any survival supplies at the airfield. It's a huge risk people take just to get better gear. They stop "putting themselves in the game" and start "playing the game", if you know what I mean. The scavenger hunt takes priority over safety. And for good reason, who wants to sit in a forest and eat steak and drink pond water their whole (dayz) life? What I think might really help the game, is for military loot to be as plentiful as the medical supplies at hospitals. If you venture out to the NWAF barracks and get past the zombies, you should be rewarded with more crap than you could ever hope to carry. I'm not saying 50 sets of NVGs and ghillies, those things would be like anti-biotics. But I'd love to see 3-5 ammo boxes spawning and guns galore. I feel a change like this would shift the focus away from finding cool guns and more towards working together. If everyone can put a little effort in and get the same m107 as you, the only thing better is two guys with m107s... right? More military loot would mean more reason to maintain vehicles and tents too. If you drive your truck up and load up for an hour, your group might be set for weeks. They're now free to worry about living in the apocalypse rather than farming magically appearing items.

S1ippery Jim: One of the Greatest Thefts Ever in DayZ!!!
S1ippery Jim replied to S1ippery Jim's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
lol I've been playing DayZ since 1.5.7. I've probably driven more vehicles in DayZ than you've eaten cans of baked beans you cheeky devil ;) There's no way of telling how these guns were accumulated, but you are right the immediate suspicion is duping. Anyway whoever owned this truck is going to have to get busy building a new stash :P -
Hi Wuggie, I was another one of Jooody's victims. Went down in a blaze of what seemed like LMG fire. He killed me, hid my body and flattened my tent. Looks like he destroyed all of the vehicles too, by what you said. I was thinking it might be a script kiddie, but did not Abort in time. I am not sure if anyone managed survive. Easy come, easy go I guess. BTW: Good work getting video evidence. Regards, Coggers

I've read here that cars always despawn and that tents are "useless" now. I have just started playing again a couple days ago since last playing about 3 weeks ago. I did have 2 bikes since playing that have disappeared, and a Ural Supply truck that disappeared after getting ofline for only 2 hours (each vehicel was at a diff. time, i am not a hoarder lol). So i am guessing the problem with vehicles is true. But tents? what's up with that? What exactly is the problem?

No vehicles spawning on new server.
pyrotrojan replied to DarkEnergy's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Ok at some point vehicles on our server started spawning but they are buggy. For example i saved a motorcycle then after server restart the bike transformed into a tractor. Also tents are still very glitchy. They work sometimes then dont work at all. And when i say work i mean save. -
So they're not saving at all meaning that there is a fresh set of vehicles every reset? Or they are just not updating the saved information so that the vehicles return to the same place with every reset?

Helicopter respawning on Skalisty after server restart
slavegirllucy replied to slavegirllucy's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
It's driving us nuts, along with the tents and vehicles not saving loot correctly. Hope this gets fixed soon! -
Amazing suggestions to make the game awesome!
jasonsdragon77 replied to Phineas's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This here is whats wrong with the vehicle situation in the game... and as i assume you already read in my previous post i do know how to find vehicles... i know where most everyone of them spawn its not too hard to figure that out just google dayzdb and blam there they are... but as i understand they don't spawn if the admin locked his server at start and had his buddies scoop them all up before letting anyone on the server...which is pretty much one of the only ways possible to have that many vehicles at one time... why the hell would anyone want to have that many at once is beyond me.. Yes in addition i could go walking off the "map" or near in the deep woods and look for a camp to raid for them as well but I and many others want to put the the hard work in and put the thing together for themselves... and experience (THAT PART OF THE GAME) as well. Also 3) *insert size 100 pt font "NO" here* Vehicles need to be rare in this game. We don't need 3-4 cars all at once playing mario kart in cherno. It means a lot to have a car, and even more to crash/lose it. Everyone doesn't need to be homogenized into an MMORPG style sameness. Get some buddies, find a vehicle, enjoy. LOL ya I've been to youtube and seen them video's already bro... (to the cherno mario kart situation) The part: it means a lot to have a car, and even more to crash/lose it, which what i have and will state wont change that fact. No, vehicles are not rare... people want and what I've gathered from the game creators that I've been reading/watching is that this game is being geared to be a "realistic zombie survival simulation" then if so they wouldn't and shouldn't be rare in this game either... At least not in or around city's, you cant tell me you can look out your front door and say there isn't a car there.... be it down the street or at least one of them in your very own drive... even in the country in the middle of nowhere there would be one or more at a farm and such... what good old boy doesn't have himself a pickup truck with a gun rack in the back and a farmer has himself a tractor to harvest his crops with... a semi to hall his grain... I live in the US and that's the way things are I know because I have lived in both types of places and in different states as well. Even in Russia or wherever this game takes place there would be the same thing maybe not as much but modern life would not exist without them... Now that i have stated the facts of things in a realistic simulation and or (the real world) I will explain further of why this part of the game is broken and needs to be fixed. Yes not all cars should be able to be fixed, things would have happened to them like they were set on fire during the zombie panic for whatever reason like riots or any other reason like car crashes or any other thing that would possibly happen to them in the aftermath. But some would be fixable like a bad engine, no gas, flat tire or any other many things that happens to a normal car in real life and as such in a good realistic zombie simulator like dayz. Would make better since that parts for cars would be the "rare" part about vehicles wouldn't it?? The right Parts aren't found everywhere in real life there concentrated in certain area's like parts stores, junk yards other cars of the same make right? Just to give a few examples. So I am not saying make it easier to have a car I am saying that currently cars are "broken" and the game mechanic behind them needs to be tweaked to make this game as realistic as possible. Having the parts being the more rare part of owning one would make owning one just as rare if not even more so and much more rewarding when you attain one. Would also make it mean even more to you when you crash/lose it, cause as it is now they are super easy to fix back up you find more parts for them then you do any other item in the game besides trash... One possible way to fix this part of the mod would be a simple one, have them spawn along the road just like the downed choppers do in fields a very rare spawn that happens at random and instead of having loot like the chopper have it have different % on how fixed it is if it has gas how many tires are blown or even maybe the previous owner blew the engine running in panic from a zombie hoard or a combination of all and yes on that very very rare instance its perfectly fine. They can keep the game pretty much like it is and not have to change too much about it turn down loot % on parts slightly and change how cars spawn as stated and the problem would be solved. Not only would this solve not being able to find one if you put in the time to look for them (yet your not guaranteed to find one or know exactly where they are...). This would solve most of the current issues and abuse associated with them. Would also make this game far better then it is by adding situations and interactions like more players stealing them, getting noticed more easily, getting stumbled upon while trying to put one together by another player who found the same one and had the same idea? Think of that a bit, that player might help you and you share it and it might encourage more team work cause its harder to gather and find the parts by having them spawn this way where they could spawn further from where the parts spawns would make it more of a challenge. Who's to say that same player doesn't shoot you in the back after its built? Maybe that player instead sat with a sniper on a hill or roof top somewhere near watching you finish his car for him?? Sooooo many different events like this could happen which would only make this game more player interactive and more fun for all. Don't forget theirs zombies out there while you do this and near your car your working on that you have to clear to be able to get to work on them. TOOLBOX!!! you should NEED this item to be able to fix a car... The stand alone: could work this in a different way by having them spawn on roads and parking lots ect. like they would if it was real life. You could scavenge parts only from the same types of car and model so they wouldn't have to make too many different car types and still make it harder to find parts. if your lucky to find another one like it near you take a look and see if its got a good part that you could use if not or its a different model you don't have that part you need and have to look elsewhere maybe in a parts store, junk yard, some dudes garage, mechanics shop? Maybe make a few car dealerships somewhere that most likely haven't been touched and all they need is some gas, would make them hot spots for pvp so don't think it would be easy. A lot of cars you might not even be able to use cause it got wrecked and the frames bent, blew up, set on fire or whatever but at least you can possibly find the part you need or just a spare part on some of the unuseable ones. Seems like this would be the logical way to go about this and have it be realistic. -
1) Jump. I really hate it when I cannot jump in an FPS. To me, spacebar == jump. If WASD is cannon, then spacebar is jump. What if David Lee Roth starts urging me? Get it and crouch! Crouch! I understand some of the larger backpacks make jumping difficult, and this is a realistic sim, but... jump. 2) Bust a move. I've seen the dancing dying death animations as done by the elusive but everywhere hackers. Yet saluting seems more silly than illustrating your friendliness than busting a move in the apocalypse. Young MC would be proud. 3) More vehicles! Scarcity encourages hoarding IRL, hacking (nee duping) in 'replicators exist' land. More vehicles == less shenanigans. If I have to learn another 20 keyboard commands to drive, let me drive. 4) Ride them horses. Satisfies not only more vehicles, but presents a unique vehicle that is refuled with water bottles and wood piles and has blood. Can killfor meat. Consider the dynamic. 5) Fix the girls. No camo/ghillie? Are you nuts? 6) Opt to spawn next to someone. If they kill you fine, but you could start with a partner too. I only brought it to awesome. I'm sure forum members will make it atomic.

[Battleye's activity] Updated daily with the effects of active banwaves
Alamandorious replied to suspense's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I miss the early days of Punkbuster. Loved to play America's Army...hated running into the fog-hack people >.< I was going to try the new version of it, but I heard it was rife with hackers. Personally, would prefer to see Hardware bans, to a degree...if it was PB doing it, and not Battleye. Got screwed just tonight after a mere week of play by BE. Lesson learned on my part; you see a fully repaired, nearly fully fueled Heli somewhere, don't take it >.< Also learned that if your heli slides into a forest after landing it 20 feet away from said forest, don't try to take off in it even if it ends up in a small clearing...you'll shift direction due to wind or something and die. Spawned in again, died to zombies within 2 minutes of spawning (got trapped in a small building by two small groups), spawned in again, made some progress in regards to food and edibles...logged out in a safe area, logged back in to continue a little while later...and was banned. Yes, I expect the invitable bombardment of 'you're a hacker',.I'm not, bit I still expect that reply. At the very least, heed the warning about the vehicles in this, and don't get into one unless you've fixed it up yourself. -
1.7.2.5 Tents and Vehicle Inventories not saving.
NoRegrets replied to NocturnalS1n's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Same here ... Filled 2 vehicles with a lot of stuff ... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand its gone ... The funny thing is ... We found a vehicle with hacked ammo like G36 mags... dropped them all ... and all this hacked stuff was back when the server restarted ... our legit stuff was gone  -
Like this idea... wanted to add to the discussion that people shouldn't be to worried about 'preppers', do realize that YOU can also run into that backpack at any time in your gaming life. You may be starving and far away from any town, to then run into this backpack filled with goodies (same goes with tents & vehicles), they basically provide a feature that i see suggest a lot of times: - please add more random loot locations... well what is more random than a player trying to hide an extra bit of gear, the chances of you running into that gear are about as big as the chances of you running into a downed chopper site ... slim but there is a chance ... and in the case of tents/vehicles/bags/etc it's the players that provide both the loot and the random, without the need add in the frequency of game based random loot drop locations... :)

Hello, Was looking to see if anyone is or knows the admin to the server GOODWRENCH or has an email for them.. My group and I play on it a bit and had made some base camps on the server since we play there a lot and I was wondering if the server has been affected by the tent and vehicle bugs that other servers have been effected by. Our tents have gone missing as well as the vehicles we had acquired. Also have not seen any spawns for vehicles in their original spawn locations if our vehicles were destroyed.. Thank you for your time!
-
A word to the wise: If you see a fully repaired, fully fueled (or near fully fueled) vehicle...don't take it. Found a near fully-fueled, but fully repaired helo at the Lighthouse between Cherno and Elektra next to the crash site of a player-driven Helo, got into it, died in it, died to zombies within 2 minutes of spawn, then logged out once I'd gotten to a relative safe area on my third spawn and have since been globally banned. Even though it's hard to come by vehicles, better only take the ones that you repair yourself or you could end up like me and several others that I've seen on these forums >.< It's too bad anti-cheat, anti-hack programs aren't an exact science.

Well the thing is all the burnt out cars are currently of no use to anyone, they are but an obstacle that you have to avoid if you're driving. If there was a map in the glove compartment, people would at least have a reason to stop and check burnt out vehicles.

2 Day Old Server [Indecisive Bastards]
[email protected] replied to fty170's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They are in now, plenty of vehicles in the default spawn locations. -
Hey guys what's going on. Well we are the Indecisive Bastards a semi new clan. We just opened a new server US 2239 and we would love to get a good population on it. In the old server we never got a lot. This time we're hoping that with a new server and vehicles spawning in just a few days it feels like a legitimate game of dayz. No hoarding of vehicles from some clan. All people are welcome bandit or survivor, noob or veteran! See you guys in there. Third person = on Cross hairs are on Death messages are on Nameplates are off

Not the same without Tents(Home Base)
treshold82 replied to mdiraq's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I know - I totally understand you - I'm a scavenger and my playing is heavily based on looting :D Vehicles won't save and tents won't save so that's true that only thing that is left is herpa derpy derp shoot people ... -
Has anyone else had one of their wheels permanently stuck into the ground after running into something? Our GAZ is completely stuck, because one wheel is basically glued to the ground. We can run the engine and spin around, however the one wheel will not move. The wheels are at red damage but when we go to fix one of them with a spare tire nothing happens. Any ideas on how to fix this? We've tried flooring it and ramming it with other vehicles, none have worked :\

Social Observation: Playing DayZ to not play DayZ
ACow posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For those of you who don't like open ended observations or long posts, stop reading now. I'm just putting it out there for discussion.... I came to the DayZ party relatively late, and I'm having a riot of a time, but there's an observation I've made on a significant portion of the community that I'd like to reflect on. I do not know how many of these people there are, but I think they make up a significant minority of the total players. A majority, well, I don't know, maybe, maybe not. I have no figures, but I will observe that this attitude permeates various discussions relatively openly. I will call this group the "come to DayZ to not play DayZ"ers. No, I don't mean the hackers per se, its obvious they aren't playing the game properly. Lets ignore them for now. And no, I'm not making prescriptions about what, if anything, should be done about it. Nor am I telling you "what dayZ should be". I'm making an observation.... So what am I talking about? Well, its not black and white, but the easiest way to picture it is to think of some of those aspects which, on an intellectual level, make DayZ...well...DayZ. Those things that really stand out from other games available, and I think we all know what they are to some extent: Permadeath and losing your items on death Scavenging for your equipment Stark finiteness of resources The feeling and disorientation inherent in isolation on a big post-apocalyptic world Spontenaeity of random social experiences etc etc etc... So the easiest way to talk about the group who "play DayZ to not play DayZ" is to go down such a list and look at the desires/gaming style that has developed, and ask "Do those things apply?", or "Is their entire mode of operation geared around making sure that such game mechanics do not apply to them". Observe: Permadeath: People are specifically organising their game to avoid this mechanic. They love to talk about it and how "hardcore" it is, but they don't REALLY want it to apply to them. That would suck. And so they play with a group of friends, and organise it so that if and when anyone dies, they either race back to get their stuff, or their friends take it and hold it for them. Scavenging: This is a grey area, and comes in a variety of forms. Loot maps, server hopping and camping specific locations to get respawning equipment, and clan stockpiling. It is when a person is not wandering the wasteland/wilderness, stumbling across those rare finds, setting up a makeshift camps to store a couple of beans. Basically, when your gameplay stops representing hunter/gatherer type behaviour, and now resembles loot-agriculture. Stark finiteness of resources: Item duping, clan camps with all sorts of vehicles, unlimited ammo bugs. Lets be honest and say that the number of people running around with ghillies, sniper rifles, nvgs at the moment makes a bit of a mockery of the "rarity" of these items or the scarcity of resources. I think a significant portion of the community doesn't really want a stark finiteness of resources to apply to them. Disorientation/isolation: Some people just come right out and say they don't want this(I'm not one of them). Starting alone, unarmed, unsure, vulnerable on a beach. Having to find survivors. What kind of sucky game is this! They want to be able to start immediately with their (preferably well armed)pre-arranged friends. Spontenaeity of random social experiences: Part of this, I think, stems from the other aspects of "not playing DayZ". A lot of people are complaining that "everyone just shoots on sight". Now, I've been lucky enough to have a couple of social experiences where they don't, and they were almost always spontaneous encounters by chance, earlier on in the game, and specifically where the other aspects of "Playing DayZ" actually applied to us both. Scroll down the list above and think for a moment. Are the people who "Play DayZ to not play DayZ" going to shoot you on sight or take that chance to come talk with you? I think the former. They aren't in this for the "DayZ experience". Now the funny thing is I'm all for player killing and bandits. Its one of those things that keeps you on edge, and every now and then there's someone, or a situation, where you just have to put a bullet in someone's face. But lets also be honest and say that part of the problem, if you accept that such a problem exists, is that a significant portion of the community is specifically tryig to "not play DayZ". They do not lose anything appreciable when they die, they do not have to struggle to survive, they are not lost or alone. They are generally farming the game rather than playing the game. Their goal, probably, is to log on to farm equipment, to kill people with their friends while playing as much outside the initial game mechanics as possible. Now, I sort of expect this observation to not go down very well with some, in part because its a truthfull observation and a description of how alot of people are playing the game. People really don't like being called out on what they're doing, especially when they have visions of themselves as "hardcore gamers"(whatever the hell that means). I do not have a solution prepackaged. I am aware that many will say "this isn't a problem that needs fixing". Personally, I admit, I think the game would be better if fewer players were involved in this type of behvaiour. If it were impossible to "avoid the consequence of playing DayZ". Consequences of permadeath should apply to all. I am not against clans, or social gaming. Frankly, I relish in the opportunity to take them on. But I do think that if your clan was "hypothetically wiped out in a confrontation", then your clan's equipment should, like your clan and your single player life "be practically wiped out". Have to start again from scratch. Keep your social ties. Lose all your stuff. To the victor go the spoils. Same as everyone else. Discuss.- 127 replies

so your saying restarting the mission is a new fresh map and will delete all the vehicles?
-
ok.. theres all kind of stuff going on over there over the last days lots of vehicles available ,which always repair by themselfs when you get out (dont know if thats normal or not), often find hacked items like golden guns, get killed in the strangest situations in the middle of nowhere by someone whos suddenly behind me, lots of dead guys with crazy rare loot.. i don't know if its something with the server or if its just a gang of hackers/exploiters or maybe even just crazy good players.. maybe someone has experienced something similar there?

Hacker US349 (Godly Kills)
frankthetank (DayZ) replied to LeeMarvin's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I can confirm that this player GodlyKills is a hacker on the US349 server. He kileld leemarvin and tstinger and teleported to me which i was on the other side of the map NE corner. I am sad to say that I was a coward and alt + f4. I didnt know what else to do agianst the guy spawning a BLACK SUV and shooting AS50 like a grenade launcher. When I logged in the camp was destroyed and all the trees were knocked down or uprooted. The BLACK SUV was all charred and burned up. Thanks to this my friends are done with the game. Hopefuly they will play when stand alone comes out. This game with its scripts is just too easy for hackers and battle eye seems to be doing jack to fight them off. Sure 11k bans out of what? A 1 mill + pop game? Anyway, I feel for you Ark. I think that alot of people will be skeptical to buy the standalone when there are so many complaints of hackers ruining the game, so I say good luck to rocket and his team. This game has such negative publicity that many players will pass over the future standalone game. Hacking has become synonomous with DayZ. Why would you spend hours getting tents, gear, vehicles only to be destroyed in 1 second by some hacker who can join at any time and fk you over? Adios my friends who have died from god unkillable hackers. -
What would you like to see in the stand alone?
RiggsUK replied to NovaDose's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd like a realtime animation engine so zeds and players never move the same and bump into each other. Also a radiosity engine to reflect light of all surfaces. Sewers in towns, even secret passages to the old church from the pub would be cool. AI army (at least 1 squadron now and again moving across the map). Actually seeing helicopters crash or even the odd plane. Psychosis through too many murders. (maybe get flashbacks or start talking to yourself). Zombies to hear direct chat, be thrown out of windows, and be dismembered. NPC hermits, gang leaders, families. Zombie kids (yeah controversial lol). Family pets left in residences (imagine a parrot alerting the horde to you). Suicides past or present (they just cant take the heat). Ability to go all A-Team and mount guns on vehicles, even on an Austin Mini. 2 man push cart trains, scooters, Bushcraft. Booby-traps on tents. Tripwires to give another use to empty cans. Knifes on poles for stabbing heads from above. Petrol bombs with chlorine tablets in, Fertilizer bombs,. Acid tanks. Let the blue generators charge my android phone. Day-Glo slippers, rasta hats, and most definitely Facemapping. If any of that make it in ill be a happy chappy.
