    Backpack storage

My point was that in a really contrived way you pointed out a huge flaw in humanity or the logic of first world life. I'm not disagreeing with the loot being the only thing that attaches you to your player. I agreed that something was needed until you mentioned skills, I've supported one skill system idea before and even then I realise it was foolish. It was a good idea however wrong for Day Z... Skills are something your player has, he's versed in all of them but you must know how to use them. The way I can read the clouds or stars in game to know what direction I'm heading in, before that I used a watch and shadows, before that I couldn't navigate until I had a compass... Also I completely endorse OP's suggestion, I just liked your post as it solved the number one issue for me right now which is duping and vehicles being idiots and disappearing.
  2. I like all of the ideas except these, zombies will already chase vehicles so I'm not sure I see the point there and I don't see zombies chasing a piece of mean you throw like dogs. Also if we are staying with the true Zombie Genre then they don't care about dead meat so maybe a shelf life of a day or something? I like the idea as I said but if the humanity counter is still in effect it should really cost you. Also maybe cover your hands in gore until you washed them at a water source or something. Needs more thought I'd say but defo has merit
  3. If we could attain meat from dead players (like from animals) but use this meat to bait zombies. This could also mean carrying it attracted them more easily, so its a risk/reward situation. - You set it down on the ground, attracting zombies into a trap (bear traps or satchels). -Putting it in vehicles would cause zombies to chase the vehicle over players. - Sneaking and placing it in someones bag would cause them to be chased over you. - Throwing it would work as a super effective smoke granade. ALSO Cannibalism a possibility only if the humanity is low enough (say -1000 or so) Thoughts?

I'm just trying to help people finding vehicles, stop complaining about it
  5. this is a shit way spawn in cherno go get an alice / food /drink / map go to zeleno, grab one of the bikes. or hop at the white truck spawn west of zeleno then fix it up start driving along the west forest line and hills find tent city become geared out with non shit items / most likely find more vehicles but ofc your way is "funner"
  6. Server this happened on: SE #500 Multiplay Norway. Inshadow (IP 95.143.206.137:3502 ) Time that it happened, including your timezone: 20:00 - 20:30 (timezone GMT+2 (Stockholm) What happened during the incident: Me and my friend were refueling our V35 when suddenly someone opened fire upon us. We took cover and from out of nowhere someone entered our vehicle and drove away from us. We chased him and tried to puncture the tires, but he strangly disappeared and left the truck. We quickly ran into the truck and fled from him. We drove quite far and he kept firing upon us even though we were traveling at 75 km/h. Then we thought he lost us, but then he emerged from out of nowhere with a UAZ... (He was visible in the driver's seat, but not outside the vehicles) He also sat in the backseat of the truck and we tried to kill the bastard but he vas immortal. 15 minutes later everyone on the server dies. I got teleported 300m up in the sky and right before i started to fall i received this message: ''One of these days Alice... Boom! POW! Straight to the moon'' - Ralph Kramden, The Honeymooners, i know. (I logged back to the lobby once i started to fall) Screenshots: https://dl.dropbox.c...474/Capture.bmp https://dl.dropbox.c...74/Capture2.bmp

    ugh, why?

Ok, so I've been playing DayZ for about a week and a half. Recently I was playing on a GB server, found an ATV, fixed it up, took it back to my camp. I play on the server for a few days, and one day I log on and the ATV and 2 tents i had setup have mysteriously vanished without a trace. Thinking it was a bug with 1.7.2.5, or bandits, I switch servers. I have been playing on a US server now, and found a few vehicles, so a friend and I have been stockpiling a few vehicles and a tent up north of the vehicles. Everything has been fine, and the vehicles have lasted through about 4 server restarts a day, for 3 days. The server is fairly low pop throughout the day, only a few people, and sometimes it spikes up to 8, but doesn't usually pass 8. Today, I get on the server, login at camp, and the vehicles are gone, and the tent is nowhere to be found. I'm having a really hard time determining whether this is a bug that the vehicles/tent are disappearing, or people are just finding my camps and stealing my vehicles and running over my tents. Does anyone have some input on this subject? Like i said, fairly new player and not sure if it's a server bug or just really bad luck. :(

Hackers does rocket give à shit?

Well... We manage to catch 95% of the cheaters coming on our servers, with an automatic ban (forbiddden by dayZ staff). We also kick out players with forbidden weapons (forbidden by dayZ staff), scan for modified files that allow players to see through trees (forbidden by dayZ staff ?) and we're testing a modified file that wil save up the tents and vehicles like it should (certainly forbidden by DayZ staff). Just find the good servers, and everything will be fine.

Why are the AS50 and M107 in the game?

Agreed. Really no reason for them. They can take down vehicles, ya, but wouldn't you rather kill the players and keep the vehicle rather than blow it up? Plus two shots against a heli you worked so hard for seems dumb, but that's not a problem in most cases.
  10. doom4mr

    possible tent problem on nl53

some times tents and vehicles not appear at all after server restart, then you have to restart it again...
  11. You are playing an Alpha build - I know its frustrating, but only because you enjoy the game so much and want it to work well (atleast this is the case for me). I agree its damn annoying, for the past week I have been fixing vehicles only to have them disappear after server reboots/crashes - its only today (after hours and hours of play time) have I found out its a known bug (guess I'll be checking the bug tracker a bit more now :¬P) the amount of tents we filled with beautiful weapons have all gone, all of that time wasted... but its not anyones fault, this is game development and we are playing an Alpha - if you want to play the release version imagine this doesn't exist and wait for the retail to appear. I hope this reminder that you are playing an Alpha build will make you feel better :¬) its frustrating for everyone when bugs happen - in reality we are lucky to be a part of the testing and hopefully contribute towards a solid release.
  12. Rocket, please, make the tents your next priority so i can love you again completely. Not to mention the vehicles, that sometimes are not saving as they should, just like the tents.
  13. bobstefanio

    ugh, why?

Well it has happened a few times to me and after a restart they are back again I believe its a bug that dose not spawn vehicles and tents or just vehicles at some server restarts. You may want to wait for the next server restart or contact the server admin and ask them to do a restart see if your tents and vehicles come back if not then you have been robbed !
  14. resin_

    ugh, why?

That's pretty strange, because in DayZ's current state (1.7.2.5) tents can only be saved once and repop on a server restart. It's odd that they would magically disappear like that, vehicles as well. Your guess is as good as mine!

I have found two of my vehicles because of that map. That's how it will help

So I finally found a car

Absolutely, without a doubt: the Old Bike. Fast, silent to players, kicks up very little dust (actually I think no dust), hard to spot even at close ranges (thus easy to stash), easy to repair, superior handling, and fairly common. First objective on a server/respawn is a bike so I can stealthily acquire better gear and vehicles.
  17. I thought that 1.7.2.5 will fix something, but only thing I saw is more bugs: 1.ARTIFACTS!! ITS CRAZY!!! same stuff as on MTV commercials lol, even worse than it was before, now I also see wild artifacts tress :| 2.TENTS NOT SAVING GEAR! on each server restart all my stuff disappears, lost my gear 6 times already :) 3.Tents duplicating, When I put 1 tent, save item in it, on next server restart all my items disappears and I got 2 tents. 4.I can't remove tent, its there even if I disassemble the tent and pick it up. 5.Can't save gear in vehicles, all gear removed after server restart. 6.Some times when server restarts vehicles and tents NOT spawn (saw this on 3 servers) 7.All the ammo bugs still there. 8.Changing skins gives me 1 spare backpack... :P 9.Animals disappearing when killed / when I try to kill it, really funny bug when you got no food and your food is blinking and the only cow you see disappears. *EDIT* 10. Ha ha forgot the 15+ minutes wait time to log in to 50+ player servers. this is what I found for now... And I wanted to build a camp  :( I think that DayZ Dev team work now on the standalone game... Next time call it: Hotfix Build 1.7.x.x trolling Update

Why are the AS50 and M107 in the game?

I'm sorry i thought this was DAYZ. This is no longer ARMA, we do not have the luxury of a mission editor, spawning with whatever gear we choose and not having to spend fucking hours finding it, only to be shot by some semi-auto 50cal noob-crutch fucking weapon from 800m. You like shooting vehicles with you OP shit cause they are an easy target, infact true without needing the arse50. And how realistic is a milsim where players die from one shot to the leg or foot even ? bullshit, and where grass and foliage ARE NOT RENDERED at distance. Bullshit, this mod needs some level of ballance whether people like it or not. All the noobs cry at the threat of their favorite OP piece of shit being removed, once it goes, they move to the next most OP thing they can find. You lot could not just be happy with a fucking m24.

    Banned from NL36

I got banned from NL36 for picking up a AS50 TWS even tho battleye says u dont get banned for picking up hacked in items "No one is banned for using non-hack programs (like Fraps, overlays, etc.), picking up or using hacked in-game items, weapons or vehicles, being on a server at the same time as a cheater, or other passive non-cheating activity." so why was i banned from that 1 server? And how am i suposed to get unbanned?

    UK 206 Server Thread

You sound a little bitter man, cheer up! I went from 4 to 0 vehicles the other day, but hey, now I have something to do, get new ones!
  21. Go find more gear/vehicles. That is all this game is about. Gear is always attainable, it just matters how badly you want to go get it.
  22. Perhaps instead of pickable classes, scavengable class packages. Ghillie suit for snipers, CLS kit for medics (Combat Life Saver...military medical bag) that has extra storage for meds and maybe makes meds a little better or better chance for antibiotic spawn, Load bearing vest for assault, more mag storage or grenade pouch, engineer kit repairs vehicles quicker with less items or quicker defensive items built...just throwing an idea or two out.

    Remove Snipers / Military weapons

dude, cant you see, one million players, do you think they are arma 2 players? Maybe the first 10 k, but the rest are the people who bought this gmae thinking it would be a zombie zurvival game, sandbox and filled with nice stuff, now we can see it has become a new cod, with more weapos per map than the chernaurs army even had, now we have a very weird world full of ghillied snipers everywhere, and full of military grade weapons, this has become a warzone. WE WERENT PROMISED THAT, nor did we even want it in the beggining, we came here for survival, but theres no desperate need for survival. let me tell you what really dayz is about; 1st, you enter here like a noob, roaming like a idiot, and not knowing what to do. So you watch a tutorial, doing that you start knowing more what to do. 2nd, experience, you slowly learn what to do and how to survive. And maybe you find a player, then you try talking to him, either you get killed kill him , he goes away or maybe you 2 join together. Now the possibilities are endless, join a group in the forum, join a clan, whatever, you just get on with or idea of zombie survival game, no one came here to hunt people down. But then either your first kill or death comes, the emotion is very intense this game makes you realize that life in here matters a lot, you care, not only is any encounter almost unique, but so rare that you dont see everyone. And finally, you learn how to play expertly this game, all ways, with a group or not, everything. And the game stops being challenging, and after this it becomes easy, after mastering this game, surviving becomes boring, theres no fun or surprise anymore in just surviving. Your character is so well equipped that you dont know anything anymore to do, and then you go hunting cars. They are ok, you drive happily throgh chernarus, looting and finding more stuff. But when you hide it, come back and find nothing, you learn it is not that good to find a car, why? Because you can run everywhere, and you learnt patience, and with food and drinks it is easy to go wherever you want, this makes vehicles not that usefull, and why do you keep a car with you? to restock when you die, or just lulz around, but scavenging your gear is the best thing in this game so far, so finding your car, which can be stolen and then you lose everything, "bases" are not everything that we hoped for, we all know if we put a tent in any place of the map, someone will loot it eventually, and putting a tent, with all your nice gear is too risky. So, in the end we discover pvp, and in the end we stop learning to care about our life, and how to deal with death, and in the end, you start doing almost anything. And by talking to people from some clans i know, let me tell you that theres not one of them who cares about banditry, and no matter what you do, pvp will always be the rule, specially against clans who are already arranging time scheduled cronfontations, and now making little tournaments. This has become a pvp, why? because we can do that, and it has always been a part of the game to have competition, no matter what, this is a competitive game, if someone loots the market before me, they will end up fighting each other, and by receiving freedom we will do that, not because we are dicks, which few are, but because its fun, and doing that keeps us in the game, we have run out of things to do, and just looting all the time is not that good. And if rocket makes it as he say, the game not fun as he said in a interview, well ok, but we will see more pvp, and clans, groups will become the rule, and most people who came here in these huge flock of people we will see them going away, maybe this is good, and by all that i have read, the game will be focusing in groups, and groups normally kos on sight, thus making a game of easy to survive team deathmatch, no matter how hard surviving becomes in groups it will always be easier, and the experienced players will whine about the hardships that come, but they will just destroy the barriers or find a way around, just like the zombies ai has been dealt with. Either we make the game hard for these experienced players, and groups, or we will see some of them leaving too, and the dogs that are coming in the next patch doesnt look to be the answer too. I am no designer, but this game doesnt look like to care about what we are doing anymore

    Players decreasing ?

Hackers ruin the game, Cant save vehicles, Buggy tents, Schools back, Alt-f4ers, Ghosters, Admin abusers ect..
  25. Alamandorious

    Hackers are pussies too.

I sent an appeal to Battle Eye, yes. The MotD from the guy who was paying for the server said he was giving up on it due to the number of hackers, and I can't get onto the server anymore thanks to the global ban to get his e-mail :P Basically, judging from other replies, I'm up shit creek without a paddle. I've contacted steam to see if I can't buy another copy of the game from them so I can play again; I'm trying my best to not let this experience sour me, since I really enjoy it and want to see which direction things go as it moves to stand-alone. Although the long runs were a pain, I really love the whole concept of a survivor or band of survivors (in my case, band, because two of my friends play) moving from town to town hunting for supplies. I'm rambling :P Anyway, appeal sent, we'll see what happens. Just heed the advice about vehicles...even if you don't believe me, don't take any chances >.<
