Are tents\cars saving on your server?

same here. Even new tents i set up after updating client and server to 1.7.2.5 are not saving anything. After resetting twice or stopping the server all items in new tents are gone and all items in pre 1.7.2.5 tents/vehicles are like they were before updating...
  2. So I was playing on US 916 this morning and then over the span of about 10 minute everyone began getting banned for " Hacking/Cheating " the warning was that all non-registered players were being banned, thinking that they meant people using hacked clients I wasn't worried.. until it had said my name was banned and I was promptly removed from the server, Im quite unhappy about this as its the server where my squad and I have most of our vehicles and tents. I would like to be unbanned if possible. Thanks.

    US 2147 - STR8UP Clan

    Are there vehicles?
  4. No other way to describe this but on my server these randomly don't spawn and force me to do another restart. Which is a pain since it restarts four times a day and it's not exactly something easy to monitor without going to a supposed campsite. Anyone else getting this issue?
  5. I completely disagree with the idea of character skills and a progression of these skills based on how often you perform activites within that skillset. I disagree with this because your actions in DayZ determine who/what your character is, everyone should be able to do everything perfectly well. The difference between every player should always be what they hold in their inventory, that's the true tale of our characters. I like your idea of being able to use a splint to enable walking with a broken leg and even your idea of weapons breaking down and requiring maintenance. I do not think gun maintenance should be a progressable skill within DayZ. Every character should be able to repair guns equally well, it should depend on the parts you've collected, stored, and scaveneged. I believe this would add depth to DayZ in the sense that certain guns could break down more slowly while others may degrade quicker. Pistols, melee weapons, crossbows might be easier to repair than more advanced weapons. Maybe scopes and lenses could crack? As for your storage arguement, I feel it's weak. I'm under the impression that when I place a tent and put items in it that they may as well already be gone. Anyone could find that tent, steal from it, destroy it. Who's to say my next character doesn't find that tent? And I do mean my new character, maybe you don't take those days survived as seriously as others do but I can see them one day being represented by your total play time and every death of mine is tragic and permenant. In order to retrieve something from a tent or even my own rotting corpse I have to first make it there alive, secondly my items have to still be there for me to retrieve, and thirdly I have to place them there in the first place. While I can agree with lowering the inventory count on vehicles and tents, and more importantly lowering the weapon storage slots would help. But destorying the items I put there, just why? Any moment I'm not sitting next to that tent is a moment another player has to steal from it without my knowledge. With duplicating and other such exploits removed from the game I don't see why I shouldn't be able to store items permenantly. If storage as it exists now was removed or altered I can't say I could give two flying shits, I haven't gotten around to storing myself some start-up camps but I was planning on it. Death is practically inevitable in DayZ and feel I should be able to prepare myself for it. Who's to say my current character didn't have a kid and tell him the location of the tent with awsome gear in it with his dying breath, or at anytime for that matter? DayZ doesn't need too many new mechanics, it needs more things, giving me items to collect and things to build in the world permenantly. When I drop a tent and put something in it I'm not just thinking about stopping by later and picking my stuff back up whether I've died or not, I'm also thinking about those who might stumble upon it. I'm putting something in the world that won't go away until someone destroys it or takes it from me and then it continues to exist with or without me and that's why building will be so intriguing in DayZ. Just imagine stumbling upon an abandoned camp, a bunch of tents that have been looted several times over only leaving the most undesireable items and maybe a few gems that couldn't be carried off. Duping sucks, yeah, and what you suggest would negate it a bit, but duping is a bug and one that will be squashed before DayZ is fully released. The same goes for hacking. This storage suggestion seems like a silly attempt to stop part of these issues which will be resolved without the need for drastic changes in the games mechanics.

Car & Heli disappeared after reboot

I can handle hackers but not being able to keep vehicles is killing me
  7. Age: 27 steam name: Duncan_Biscuits how long have you played: Around a month and a half Timezone: GMT / I play about 3 days straight then pass out for 12-14hrs so I pretty much play all time zones :P equipment you currently have: I currently Have / can of soda (pepsi) and a bandage but I'm pretty resource full and have over the past week and a half owned all of the guns in the game plus drove most of the vehicles but when I have no one to tell me what to do I'm a straight up wild card (A total spaz) and to that result blown up the vehicles and lost most of the guns but that was all just for fun if I had a group of guys they'de wake up to find I'm still on and they have a nice collection of toys to go pawn some chumps with. I take orders well and love the thrill I get from this game it's the only game that gets my heart pounding. My greatest achievements so far in the game is stealing a hatchet from a snipers bag and hacking him to death with it and stealing his gun my longest life was around 52 hrs I got around 400 zombie kills, 8 Murders,2 Bandit kills 3 vehicles found and used 1 of the cars to blow up one of the 2 bandits, I demo packed the car and waited for him to get in the car and as he pulled away and probably couldn't believe his luck I took it all away from him >:D Trust me it was fkin funny. I'm also currently running the new "Play with six" launcher and the 1.7.2.5 version and my name on it is DustySmoke....... add me on both steam and six to get my attention faster. HAPPY FRAGGIN :)
  8. Nope. We can't. They randomly spawn in between 2-6 days after creation as I understand it. I also dont know if its sudden or a trickle. They do that to prevent ppl from hoarding all the vehicles and getting an unfair advantage over everyone else. YW to fight for it though when they do spawn!
  9. Not on mine and vehicles duping all items they had in them pre-patch
  10. Why don't we have an itemized list for this debate? Pro .50-cal: It's a fun gameplay style for some, removal would persecute these players It's the only way to ensure a positive kill on a player who will Alt+F4 at the drop of a hat Effective versus vehicles, specifically the helicopter Anti .50-cal: Duping makes them ubiquitous and trivial to acquire, flooding servers with instagib griefers who cannot be stopped, since they can rearm in minutes and resume their newb-slaying Not in keeping with the spirit of the zombie apocalypse setting Overpowered in DayZ due to balance issues I come down against the .50 sniper rifles. My responses to each point: Pros First: Sniper lifestyle: You can snipe with other rifles. It's tougher, and you'll likely miss some kills, but you can have the full sniper experience with an M24 or DMR. What you'll miss out on is the kill tally, but that's acceptable to me. Alt+F4: Invalid argument. Alt+F4 is used all the time, regardless of what weapon you have. If one-shot kills are the answer, I want my 1911 to deal 37000 damage, too. Effective versus vehicles: I can't really speak to this point, because I don't know how effective .50s are against flying helicopters compared to other weapons. It doesn't seem like something that comes up terribly often, except when helicopters wander into a sniper's area of influence and are targeted. As for the Cons: Duping/Hacking: Sure, dupers and hackers will have the toys they want as long as they're allowed to dupe and hack, so that's no more relevant to the specific weapon issue than the Alt+F4 side of the debate, but it's worth noting that nobody's hacking in a bunch of M110s and KSVKs and duping them. If the guns were removed from the game, they'd be easier to cull on the server side and less tempting to dupe, and that'll mean the pesky sniper on that hill will be using a more demanding rifle, and your death, while still pointless, will be a feat of skill. Not in keeping with the setting: There's plenty of reasons for the guns to be present in Chernarus, so that's not a problem. The only thing that seems out of place about these rifles are how common they are, and that's due to the problems from the previous point. Overpowered: Absolutely, and this is the key reason for me wanting them gone. Why are .50BMG rifles overpowered? They are too easy to succeed with. -Instakill power regardless of point of impact. -Superb optics. -Extraordinary precision. -Unmatched range. A sniper of even modest ability can rack up PvP kills with one of these without much effort. In contrast, the CZ550, DMR, M24 and SVD require a headshot for a clear kill, reducing the valid target area by something like 90%. How do you combat a sniper? 1. Find out where he is 2. Go someplace where your weapons can reach him 3. Kill him. P.S. - Do not let him kill you in the meantime This is hard. Finding him is hard because the effective range of the AS50 is over a kilometer, which is a big radius to search. Getting into position to kill him, while avoiding his eye and the rifle that he's looking through, can take several minutes, due to the distances and terrain concerns. Killing a sniper isn't any harder than killing anyone else, but they're generally well armed, with a backup assault rifle of some kind and a ghillie suit. Plus, they're not any more shy about Alt+F4 than the players they need those guns to kill, so unless you brought a .50 with you, you're going to enjoy a twenty-minute high-risk maneuvering session followed by a fight that's either quite difficult or interrupted by a logoffski, leaving you with no loot, no bandit kill and nothing to show for your herculean effort but some hunger, some thirst and some missing ammo. Not balanced, not fun, not fair. Lose the big guns.
  11. Hey can you lmk when the vehicles are spawned in so I can get one and make it my home server? Thanks!
  12. however what happened to leave the area is the state it is in now and what caused the need for anti-material rifles, yet little to no armor or AA/AT stations Now if there were say wrecks of say more armor or even retrofitted paramiltary vehicles I would understand the possible need for some anti-material.
  13. I agree with you. However, lots of servers restart every 6 hours or so to avoid performance issues. Is this what you meant by reboot? If so...I would request that there be a separate type of restart that resets the world. That way, servers could continue to restart on schedule, but could also set it to where all storage units and vehicles reset on a different schedule.
  14. Okay I feel really silly asking this but... how can you tell the difference between the vehicles that need repaired and the ones you can just hop in and drive? Of course, I've never come across one you can just hop in and drive; the only vehicles I've found have been a bicycle that wouldn't move and an overturned quad someone had abandoned. How do you know what the vehicles need to be repaired? How can you tell which ones you *can* repair when you see them vs. the rusted heaps that are sitting everywhere?

Story of a 30 year old kid and his new Dayz server!

I agree with you its a free mod and that is awesome. Really I just want to have vehicles on my server. I guess my expectations are too high. Do you have vehicles on your server? Can I play on it? Anyone want a free server for the remainder of the month? SOrry but there are no vehicles on it:)
  18. It's simple: Tents, vehicles, whatever you store items in: If you die, the storage unit and all the items go away IMMEDIATELY. (edit: In the case of vehicles, items disappear from storage. The vehicle does not despawn.) New option for tents and vehicles: Save for Group. With this option, the tent or vehicle will now persist through your death. However, upon selecting this option the storage unit now must be maintained periodically in order to persist. Example: Steve puts gear into his tent. He selects the Save for Group option. Now the tent and the items will stay there if Steve dies, free for his buddies to use. However, maintenance must be performed on the tent every (X) hours and with (X) spare parts/scrap metal. The Maintenance option now appears on the contextual menu of the tent. With this mechanic...small teams would be able to save small camps, large teams would be able to save large camps. The ability of a GROUP'S items to persist is directly related to the group's ability to loot areas and find spare parts. Storage units would still be able to be looted by anyone, allowing raiding if the camp is unguarded. Also...I think that the same mechanic should apply to tank traps and barbed wire. This would give LARGE groups some minimal security. Since larger camps are harder to hide, it would be helpful if they could set up barbed wire around their tents. In the same way, a lone wolf could use barbed wire and tank traps to block other survivors from good spawns, but these too would disappear immediately if he died. Am I a genius or what!? This will almost assuredly be the most awesome way to handle this aspect of the game. Don't even try to argue with me. ...Okay do....
  19. Vehicles should definitely be randomized. I've found helicopter crashes literally in the middle of the road. Why can't a same system be applied for vehicles like SUVs in open fields or pickup trucks abandoned in the middle of the road. I really like this idea, Starkey, it seems strange that it hasn't been implemented yet considering how many other items randomly spawn in the environment. Anything that foils players simply looking it up on the internet is a good idea for keeping the game going strong.
  20. I dunno is this a problem with the version or with the server, but by some reason at DE 196 everytime when the server restarts the contents of tents/vehicles will go back to what it was like day or 2 ago. At least 4 or 5 restarts have done this so far. Anybody know what the issue could be?
  21. I was wondering what my little squad should bring with us when we go to hunt for vehicles. Do we need to have everything on hand to repair a vehicle fully? Engine Parts - (6 inventory slots) Main Rotary Parts - (6 inventory slots) Fuel Tank Parts - (4 inventory slots) Wheel x 4 - (24 inventory slots each) Scrap Metal - (3 inventory slots) Jerry Can with Gasoline - (3 inventory slots) That's 46 slots of gear spread between the three people in our squad. I just want to make sure we need to collect all this and drag it around the country-side before we start. Also, how does someone find a vehicle? From what I've heard, you can always steal one from a clan camp in the far West or North but they tend to reset the server as you drive away, if they don't manage to shoot you first. What would some of the more experienced players recommend to help my group get our first vehicle?
  22. I have no objections to the .50 cals being removed from the game though I don't necessarily think it's needed. If vehicles become more prevalent in later versions they could be re-added for anti-material purposes.
  23. This is a basic compilation from known hacker websites, I can’t post evidence or what I have found as that is not allowed on these forums. If you are a server admin, please read as this will help you minimize hacker attacks. The motivation My server has been running for close to two months. Hackers were a myth on this server and I always wondered why some hackers rape a server over and over yet leave mine pristine. It suffered the first hacker attack last week, my team (4-5 people) had a substantial base. A Ural, Vs35, UAZ, 10-15 Tents, 2 Utes, 2 Bikes, 1 ATV and a Heuy stashed at a different location. This base was teleported to drakon island and also the sniper point in Cherno. I wasn’t online, but I became curious, why go after that base??? There’s nothing to gain as a script kiddie. The chopper was untouched at its separate location, why was that left alone??? No-one seems to ask script kiddies why they bother doing stuff like that. Blowing up a base is fun in itself, but there is more to it. I decided to do what I could and find out. The Process Over the last two weeks I have been scouring the popular hacking websites, I’ve created an account on 3 different sites that have advertised bypassing or scripting for Dayz. I have started threads asking people what makes them want to nuke a server. My data collection, I totaled well over 400 posts and messages responding to these threads. I then removed posts by new accounts (under 10 posts total) and ones that were off-topic or excessively abusive. There’s no point in predicting crazy, you’ll just have to trust me on that. I was left with 286 responses. This is no small number and the answer was very clear. The result Important Of the 286 posts, 270 said that they will only nuke a server that belongs to an abusive admin. What is admin abuse in the eyes of a hacker? *Admins who reset a server after they die or the base is attacked *Admins who show up on the reported thread multiple times are targeted *Admins who password their server *Admins who ban and kick players for little justificationThis is %94 of the reason why hackers nuke a server Around 200 (just over) said that they will flatten bases that belong to ‘admins’ or ‘clans’. Most script kiddies seem to think than any ‘large’ base will belong to an abusive admin or a clan that is exploitive. Scripters assume that most clans have at least one covert scripter and are justified in destroy their ill-gotten gains. When an admin attempts to use their admin powers to reclaim the base, most scripters will chain nuke the server as a 'message' Just under half of the posts stated that they will nuke a server when they are killed by a hacker that is invulnerable, using a teleport script or has god mode on. Most script kiddies simply assume that anyone who can kill them is a hacker, this is a common assumption that I feel has more false positives than anything else. The ban-waves are hitting harder than you think. There is a ton of stolen IDs that is generating a very cheap CD-Key market, but battle-eye is starting to win. The number of complaints about banning is going up and up on these sites. Most people pay for ARMA II and then purchase a subscription to the battle-eye bypass and some are not reusing hacks after buying a new copy. This is an assumption on my part Important Ways to minimize hacker attacks on your server below; If you have accumulated multiple vehicles, spread them out! The high value vehicles (URAL, Vs35, Heuy, UAZ) should never be in the same place. Hackers will simply assume that you have been abusive to gather such an array of vehicles and will trash your ID Give a message before a restart, don’t just hit the button, and give warnings at 15, 10 & 5 minutes at least. I personally log off after 10, so people can’t kill me before a reset and think that I am resetting to get my stuff back. Do not react to a hacker attack!!! If you start banning, kicking, resetting and generally throwing a tantrum like a 12 year old you will only make it worse. All you will accomplish is guaranteeing that they will be back to ‘send a message’. If you go overboard, they will report you on the forums and you will get draw more wrath on your server and in the worst case scenario, get blacklisted. They want your delicious tears, don’t be a sucker and play into their hands. Play it cool, gather evidence, get them globally banned and have the last laugh Avoid an inflammatory message of the day. Posting useless, empty threats will only entice a scripter to rape your server and laugh at you about how powerless you are. Posting stuff like “all hackers will be banned” and “no faggot hacking” is pointless, you aren’t fooling anyone. A brief disclaimer. This isn’t ‘research’, ‘proof’, ‘evidence’ or ‘fact’. 300 is a small sample, I admit but the correlation is very strong. My thesis wasn’t on “hacker motivations” and I’m not a psychologist, nor have I intended to represent myself as one. The data is there, you should turn it into information however you see fit. The message: Many admins are trying to protect their servers. I admire that you are attempting to create a fair environment for everyone. What you must understand is that we currently don’t have to the tools to take on script kiddies and/or hackers. Currently there are many false and overturned bans from admins. We are inflaming the community and goading hackers/scripters to attack servers. The best way to sort this problem out is to report to battle eye. A global ban hurts these kids, it's the best way to grab this problem by the balls
  24. So we had another script kiddie get on our server... it was AWESOME! Not usually the response you hear when someone talks about "hackers" aka script kiddies. We had one join our server today going by the name of John. He did teleport players, especially on request. Spawned in cars, gear boxes, helos, ect. It was a blast. Just absolute screwing around, blowing crap up, crashing into stuff. Respawn, get teleported, play with something else. At the end of it all, it was all blown up. At the end of it all, the remaining vehicles and choppers, gear boxes etc ended up in the same area and were destroyed before a server reboot. Server got pretty laggy. But for a script kiddie getting on our server, it was the most fun I've ever had. So thank you anonymous player John, you made my night, along with some other players on my server.
