There are some fun hackers that just like to screw with people or show new players a good time, like most of the ones you met. Though spawning in a bunch of vehicles can easily get out of control but at least they were nice enough to take you with them the whole time. My favorites are still the ones that just deliberately mess with people. The good ones that know how to creep out even the most hardened survivor. Now the CoD script kiddies who just kill everyone on the server or who only hack because they can't survive otherwise... Well, those we could do without. -

As a person who is in a group that has backup gear and backup gear for that gear and so on and so forth with vehicles spread across multiple servers I fully support this notion albeit it's only a temporary fix. -
1.7.2.5 Tents and Vehicle Inventories not saving.

Yeah I have to agree, class specific loot would probably be a bad way to go. These 'perks' or 'professions' should literally just be something do give a slight non-pvp advantage over a very specific detail. List of possible professions: - Doctor/Nurse - Heal faster/more effective healing - Athlete - Be able to run faster/further - Body Builder - Carry more weight (not more slots, and this would depend on if weight was introduced into inventory management) - Locksmith - First introduce locked doors, he could pick locks (or pick locks faster) - Cop/Military - Trying to think non-pvp, so possibly break down locked doors (creating lots of noise for zombies/players to hear) and maybe hold ammo in toolbelt - Mechanic - Repair vehicles with more common items (like MacGyver, use hose, tin can, elastic band, etc) - Farmer/Butcher - Get more food out of animals The list could go on and on, and as other people have stated, with giving you something good, maybe take something away? Example doctors can't have a secondary weapon because it's filled with their doctor's bag. Would have to try and balance that out, or could just stick with giving each person 1 extra nice 'perk'. And the other way we could go about implementing such a feature as stated above was to introduce very rare items that could serve a similar purpose. Instead of choosing a background 'profession', you find an extra rare item that could be say an ammo belt, or a police officers belt. This would remove your 2nd row from your toolbelt and give you that room for just ammo. Find a lock picking set for picking locks instead of breaking doors down loudly. But then comes the question can a player have more than one of these 'perk' items? So I would like to hear feedback on people's thoughts on both of these methods, their inputs regarding each one and maybe add something to flesh out the idea.

Does anyone have any information on whether or not there is a set time period where if you switch servers that spawning on the coast occurs? It's happened to me several times and I have just resolved to play on one server but strange things have been happening on our main server US1306 with vehicles and tents. My friends and I are wanting to move to a new server but we want to actually be able to transfer the lion's share of our gear to the new server without being teleported to the coast. I'm going to begin experimenting with staying logged off a server for several hour before switching in the hopes that I don't get teleported; if not my friends have a long car ride to get me.

i need a team...scavenging for a weapon or something to eat or hell even just a damn bandage is crap when people are running around with anything they need! lol smasht_AU: did you guys build that entrance with sand bags, and the anti-vehicle barriers? how do you build stuff like that, just scrap metal and a tool box? this game has so much more that I have even begun to be exposed to... another question, are vehicles and barriers and stuff taken away after a while or do you keep it and new ones are respawned after a server reset? also, if you destroy a building, is it only down until the server reset? -

My team and I raid other camps and the NW airfield just about every day now. It's the only thing to do now that we have vehicles and all of the gear/guns we need. We also have like 15 Mountain Dews, as a comparison ;) Wow, 1 more would have done it? Or is that a joke? :unsure: -

This is also happening with all vehicles. They eat gear and keep returning to old save points (they appear to be relocated to the spots they were saved at pre-patch). I'm talking about 1.7.2.5, btw.

Any fellow medics around tonight who are still able to log onto 1.7.2.4 servers* and could spare me a dose of antibiotics? Despite seeking frequent shelter in buildings, using camp fires and heat packs, I finally managed to catch a cold. It's a nice added difficulty, but my current steak consumption may not prove sustainable, and soon bring on the rage of humane treatment for animals advocates. *Had 1 camp raided, the two tents with antibiotics and weapons looted, both vehicles stolen, another server hit by hackers, another server gone offline, so now down to limited resources, with 4 favourite servers left where I have a tent or more, all of which still running 1.7.2.4., hence my reluctance to upgrade just yet. Will be back in a good hour. Happy to travel, and provide limited transportation in return via ATV. -
Camping cities, killing survivors,bandits and others is a great oppurtunity this game provides. I've seen groups roll into towns with vehicles, leave the light on and honk horns while idiots flock to the vehicle crying they are friendly. Next thing you know they get mowed down. That's the fun of the game, open choice, freedom to kill,ransom, outwit and survive. Without these choices you'd get a pretty stale game. Great idea RR force, hopefully others will try this as it creates good content for those.

Man, I would kill for a helicopter. Not really, since I'm a medic. But you know what I mean. The only vehicles I've ever seen or driven in game are my old bike and a tractor I had for half an hour once. It's been my dream since early May to get a helicopter, all I find are these useless rotors and nothing to attach them to :( Glad to hear of your rescue Lynx. My first experience with medics in DayZ was somewhat similar, where I hurtled aforementioned tractor into a rock at the insane speed of 10 KM/hr and exploded, managing to crawl away (had to bandage twice, kept bleeding) with a mere 97 blood. Posted here and got help quickly, though I was hard to find since I was almost constantly unconscious in some brush. Days like this are so slow and devoid of patients that it drives me mad, sitting here at Cherno, waiting. Gotta go do some RL stuff but I'll be back in a little bit if anyone needs help! -

That bug has been there for a long time throughout 1.7.2.4 And by what you said, i assume it hasn't been fixed this patch either. Let's Hope 1.7.3 will do something about server savings (tents such as vehicles not saving on server restart). -

We have 2 AS50 thermal sights...How? Our server has been completely taken over by hackers and yes we picked 2 of them up and put them in our tents. Rocket said it was allowed so we did it. I find it hilarious that people complain about us having these guns, but then create an admin abuse thread (US 561) when our admin starts banning suspicious people when there is clearly a hacker teleporting everyone around the map and spawning weapon crates and vehicles because our server has been unplayable for the past 2 weeks do to the amount of hackers and them killing everyone. So yeah we took their AS50's as consolation prizes for putting up with all the bullshit. Again we did nothing against the rules because we didn't touched hacked weapons until rocket said it was ok. -

At this stage of DayZ, it's a brilliant idea to join a clan and start playing on a dedicated clan server. Adds more security plus most clan servers are rolling back to 1.7.2.4 which allows vehicles to actually save. -
1st, initial game purchase no problem. I wouldn't mind a subscription per monthly basis if there will be worthwhile future content (new weapons, vehicles, and equipment - different tools to survive, such as fishing for coastal survivors etc...) and for the upkeep and security of the servers. 2nd, studio development (kickstarter if needed) with opportunities for community driven content (please note tf2 and dota 2 models with steam workshop). 3rd, server models shouldn't be community based, unless they become private hives or unless characters become tied to a server. 4th, I don't understand why microtransactions automatically equate to pay to win. again, look at tf2 and dota 2. aesthetic items to cosmetically enhance the uniqueness of your character, created by a community which recieves a portion of cash back for each item sold, and are items that can be found or bought, and traded within the community. that's a win win for everyone!

There should be different ways to hide/store items, besides giant light-colored tents or vehicles that cannot be hidden well. Perhaps a new kind of "Ghillie Tent" that is much better camouflaged. Or, maybe we could create an in-ground, discreet supply cache using the entrenching tool. It is currently a little bit ridiculous that people can get the one helicopter on the server and just fly around mapping out every single tent and vehicle in an area. The stuff is extremely easy to see from the air due to the restrictions on placement and the lack of good hiding spots with thick foliage and canopy to protect from air detection.

I'm not sure how the mod works exactly but as someone who has made many arma missions I know what those commands do. I don't see any reason those should be being run by the client, ever. The server spawns all vehicles and weapons in the game. The mod may be running the weapon one to move it to the backpack. Not sure on that one. Good work! Glad you're putting in the effort. -
I'm sure you know about the issue with the current build where tents and vehicles revert to their pre patch state after a restart. I know where all the vehicles are now, I can collect the parts and fix them up but only drive them around for the duration of that session. Once the server times out its all gone. I rejoin the game on foot and start the cycle again. Just wondering what you've been doing since being unable to save your progress, did you downgrade to an old version and switch servers or are you not playing until they patch it?

Tents still duping/losing items 1.7.1.5

woooow yes if u put a new tent down it never saves ur items and will delete them.... u guys havent figured this out yet? u need to place the tent and leave it empty for 1-3 server resets before it will save stuff, currently with 2.5 there is a hive issue that when the server resets its reseting to the day of the patch not the last reset so ur vehicles and items will be like it was when the patch came out -

Absolutely agreed (DE 277). Items don't saving in tents and vehicles for about a week, but all items stored befor that reappear after every server restart! -
After several days of this continuously losing tent items and vehicles upon restart, we can confirm, for our server at least, that this is correct.

heli keep revert to Skaz on server restart?

I feel your pain. I found the heli, spent the better part of 3 hours collecting the parts and fixing the damn thing, only to have it revert when the server I was on restarted. This has also happened with an ATV, Motorcycle and Pick-Up Truck. The only benefit I see from this, we now know where to find the Vehicles when it gets fixed. Until then I think I'll just run. -
For the 4th straight day since the 1.7.2.5 and 1.62.95885 updates for DayZ and Arma2 I have died at login and been sent to debug land with none of my equipment. Additionally tents, items put in tents and vehicles are not saving. At this point the game is virtually worthless unless your happy just killing zombies or the random player you might run into. Anything beyond that is a waste of time. This is happening across multiple servers so I know its not a single server issue. The latest patches created more problems than they solved. That said we did know it was an alpha release.... Until the game is fixed it going to remain a messed up mix of bugs, glitches, exploits and hack attacks.

AU 23 Rollback to 1.7.2.4

the server i play on rolled back to 1.7.2.4 as well as it was causing issues like players getting stuck at loading screen and also the tents/vehicles issue too. and i would advise people to do the same
