  1. I also just made this account to post this happened to me a couple of dayz ago. Player has been alive for over a month. Close to death multiple times. Found and built 2 vehicles which I lost due to bugs, Didn't care. Been shot tons of times and escaped ( without DC'ing) . Just makes me sad because I just came across a downed helecopter and got a ton of gear. My first sniper rifle and I finally had a silenced pistol and a bicycle, all gone. Also sucks how far from up north I am now. I have been randomly spawning on the coast for a couple weeks now but I didn't care. I mean with all my gear it was a huge risk being on the coast and I did get shot multiple times but I managed because I still had my gear. Humanity was through the roof too. This time no gear. My stats and blood and stuff are still good just no gear at all. I'll be checking back periodically but not playing until this bug is gone. I know its an alpha so no biggy just sucks after all the fun and escapes I've made to have this be my characters demise.

    Vehicles.. Lets be honest

    Once the vehicles are fixed and the tents, we'll be putting our server back up and will be making regular use of the Huey (presuming we can fix it before it's taken) to scour the lands looking for assholes that horde vehicles and then we'll drive them into random towns and leave them there. We'll obviously have a few ourselves but we're not going to horde them all (we might even fix em up for u and leave em there for the taking)

    US 863 shutting server down

    Just to preface, I had a shitload of fun on this server and I don't mean any personal attack or anything. I took screenshots of the camp before we blew it, but I forgot to take them mid-firefight. So my apologies I don't have any solid proof. As far as reporting it here, I honestly thought this was the proper way to communicate what I thought was a sudden, intentional server restart. Ill keep the email in mind for next time I have an issue, since I DO like playing here. For what its worth, my accomplice was the guy on the beach you people MURDERED and then you, Mr. Melted349, told to get in mumble. I think it was around 1140EST last night. I don't know what logs show or how they work, but I can give you a run-down of what happened if it possibly helps pinpoint the time. 4 satchel charges around the Bus, Ural, UAZ, Motorcycle, and Offroad, with one more in a small clearing north of them (where I assumed the chopper would land if/when it returned). The chopper comes back and lands about 240 yards from the camp (not near my charge at all), and three guys get out. One of them drives the UAZ out of the woods into the plains, then drives it back. When I see it back near the vehicles (my heart is pounding at this point so im not doing so good spotting), I blew the charges. Killing no one, sadly. At this point, I make a break for the now-empty chopper as my friend (Scuba Steve) runs through the camp. He manages to kill one dude with his DMR. Meanwhile, I take off in the chopper, and haul ass going southwest. Then I got session lost after about 3500meters of travel.

    Although clans hording vehicles is very annoying and often pointless. I don't believe hackers are a good way to counter act it. Although I can see where you're coming from. Vehicle hording is a huge issue right now, and most likely if it's a clan server and they own it they will just restart it and lock the server for a small amount of time while they "test" it and take all the vehicles again. So...

    Like I said do not bet on the tents working during this patch. It is sketchy to say the least and if you have a piece of gear you really want to keep you are better off just running around with the gear. I am a hopeless hoarder in this game and this most recent patch has broken any drive to gather gear (or worse vehicles) because they will most likely disappear.

    Yeah, this is a misleading poll and a complete misinterpretation of rocket's words. He was not talking about "instances" in the sense of zones or missions players would undertake. All he was talking about is the fact that underground bases could exist separately so that they would not be tied to a single server like tents and vehicles are now, and members of a squad could access them from different servers. And he was very clear that there will be no safe (no PvP) zones.

These are the patch notes on my Vilayer server: "This will install all the regular patches on the server and patch the server so hackers can-not spawn items within the server such as vehicles, weapons etc... This has been released early so please use at your own risk however it should make sure server much more secure. YOU WILL NEED TO RE-SAVE YOUR SERVER CONFIGURATION FILE AFTER PATCHING YOUR SERVER."

    Tents disappearing?

    On the main server I play on, some restarts the tents/vehicles are all gone as mentioned. Then, the admin will sometimes force another restart, and when they do, the stuff comes back. So far it's happened about 3 times and every next restart, all the stuff has come back as it should.

I have applied multiple times, my first 2 not meeting specs as I was using the Arma2 OA guide which had windows 7 as a valid OS, lower memory reqs etc. But my third, and most assuredly adequate server, has been pending now for 12 days. I totally understand that people working on this stuff are probably spread WAY thin and everything. I just wanted to make sure I haven't put myself on a shitlist with 2 denials or if there was just a general logjam for all Server ID's due to impending changes etc? Can anyone speak on it? Only real reason I want to admin my own server is for access to logs for accountability, so that me and my 4 or 5 DayZ playing buddies have somewhere to call home for tents and vehicles etc... And I'm an admin in RL so I promise that server will be very decent and wont tarnish DayZ's good name. :)

    I believe dogs are in Arma, similar to the vehicles they script in, that aren't officially in DayZ.
  11. An old couldn't be 'cause we (my friends and I) walk all the map search for vehicles. So we need to wait 7 days? We are in 2.4 version but I'll update now to 2.5.
  12. If they gave you a new instanceID it will take 7 days i think for vehicles to spawn. If they gave you an old instanceID, wich is kinda like giving out an old map. Vehicles wont be at the spawn points, more scatterd around then :)

    The thing about the vehicle "explosion" is that it's not really an explosion of note. It's just an animation to indicate the vehicle has been permanently disabled. Which gunfire of this sort would most certainly do in relatively short order. If you're inside one of these vehicles when it "explodes" you will usually survive with very minor wounds, maybe bleeding. Occasionally a broken leg. Not much worse than your average zombie hit. Also this belongs in the Gallery forum.

Dayz is all about interaction between players. It's important that communication is quick, clear and easy as death occurs so fast. 1: Whisper, Talk, Shout. Different ranges and audibility to both players and zombies. Also a whistle or some-such. 2: Improved hand signals for silent communication. 3: Walky talkies and radios for long range communication. http://dayzmod.com/f...walkie-talkies/ 3.5: (controversial) Find a way of either stopping 3rd party voice or making it transmit an audible (non specific "talking") noise in game. To encourage use of direct chat over 3rd party chat. And at least give those people that still use it the penalty of giving away their position in game. A great idea that will add a valuable humanising element. 5: Notes. Placeable notes. Being able to interact with players in this way is important I think. Limits will be needed of course. 6: Better hunting. Animals that are harder to hunt, they spook and run etc. Also I'd like to see Z's kill nearby animals, providing that feeling of a ravaged eco system and creating another unpredictable element to their behaviour. Combined with the zombie modifications below would create unpredictable zombie encounters. ie Wandering through the woods, a deer runs past followed by some zeds, then they spot you... Gear and loot etc: 7: A more involved crafting system. Makeshift weapons etc. Possibly more interesting cooking. 8:Far less high end military gear. I believe the CZ550 should be the top of the food chain for all but a very very lucky few. There should be less ammo and weapons in general , giving more of a scrabbling for survival feel. And tied in with the crafting system so you can always make SOMETHING to defend yourself with. The nightime / light mechanic is very rewarding. 9: Less predictable loot locations. Maybe a searching system so that you have to search more carefully to find goodies. 10: repairable generators etc. i don't agree with everything in this thread but there is some good discussion:http://dayzmod.com/f...enerators-v-33/ . I also know generators are in the game with an eye to being used so expect some of this stuff anyway. 11: Padlocks: Allows players to lock any door , blocking zombies. but players can break padlock with any weapon. Alolows players to hold up in a building against zombies for a while but not block players permanently. 12: Camo netting. To help hide vehicles. It's been suggested many times. 13: non lethal weapons. For instance tranq darts. To balance , bolt action, slow firing. !st hit slows player and blurs vision. 2nd shot slows more until they pass out. Epi pen neutralises effects. Again adds more gameplay options. 14: Shots damaging equipment. Discussion here: http://dayzmod.com/f...age-by-gunfire/ . Also weapon maintenance. Environment: 15: This ground mist is amazing, would be greatif this cropped up occasionally, http://dayzmod.com/f...136-heavy-mist/ . More atmosphere and horror in general. Zombies: 16: Zombies more curious about long range noises. For instance an explosion in the distance would make many of them shamble that way. Not agroed as such just curious. 17: Zombies not giving up so easily. It's currently to easy to lose zombies, and it is immersion breaking that they suddenly stop and give up straight away. A "searching" period after they lose a player would be nice. 18: Zombies spawning much further from the player, giving the feel that they are always there, and making them more dangerous , especially when combined with No: 16. Be nice to see dismemberment etc. General: 19: Standardise Things: I'm assuming the standalone will provide a standard "this is Dayz" experience.http://dayzmod.com/f...dardise-things/ . Up the FOV a bit, and remove peripheral dots. 20: Server hopping: It's really nice to be able to change servers at will. And the flow of new people coming through a server keeps it alive in many ways. But I wonder if ghosting can ever really be fixed ? Do the pros outweigh the cons ? I'm not sure on this one but wonder if there should be a delay before you can go back to a previous server. Or possibly even being locked to one server ? 21: Linked maps to create a bigger playing area. http://dayzmod.com/f...linked-servers/ Achievable with current technology and doesnt have choke points. 22: Characters linked to timezones. So people can never TOTALLY avoid night-time play.http://dayzmod.com/f...synced-to-time/ Either this or possibly speeding up the day night cycle a little bit. Something to encourage nightime play as it is much more immersive. 23: Player customisation. More costumes and more mix and match, this allows groups to make a "uniform" for visual identification. This should include camo gear options etc, but Ghillie suits need to go, they currently overwrite bandit / hero skins etc and are too ... standard.

    Any South African Dayz players?

    I'm from South Africa Cape Town. Ya we only got about 5 servers, when Dayz got big the servers got a hacker visit every night but it seems they've gotten bored since i haven't seen a hacker in a good 2 weeks now. Only problem is since the only big competitive games in SA are CoD4 and BF3, everyone in Dayz stays down South for some PvP action, no camps are made and no one really hordes vehicles. You would be lucky to see anyone above Stary (even with 30-40 people on). There is another forum member called Karlash which is also South African and looking for a group (unlike me, I'm a solo player) Either way my home server is ZA4, i go onto ZA3 only when there's more people on and when i have a rangefinder since there it shows range. The webafrica servers (ZA 1 and 2 i think) don't restart often enough so you get bad FPS there, generally avoid them.

    From what i know of: * Tents have a chance of eating your items, they also have a chance of getting them back from a server restart. <- pray for this one if you want to see your stuff again. * Tents and Vehicles have a rough time this patch, with saving itself probaly. Some servers work 100%, some doesn't work at all. (hopefully fix in 1.7.3)

  18. Ok, so me and a friend have been playing DayZ, we know a fare bit but we don't seem to have much luck... Basicly we have decided that we will make a tactical squad of several players... No limit to how much there will be but right now we just want a small tactical squad of 6-7 players... We hope to get vehicles night vision goggles, GPS and all that great stuff along with snipers. We will not take cheap kills on people who cannot harm us. Meaning if they are running away or have no weapon or an axe but are standing far away, we will not shoot. Anyone who is threatening alike, running towards us, out fire power us or has a good position on is we will open fire. If we find someone with items we fancy we will open fire and take their items... Spots: Sniper/Scout/Overwatch (Snipes,Calls out enemys, watches the area whilst jobs are carried out) Transportation (Specialises in transporting people around, be it in a helicopter or a car or anything(including transporting goods from a job to camp or enemy camps to our camp) Medic (carries all medical supplies and is first to be called for downed team mates/injured team mates) Assault (Gets up close and personal in the mission to kill players in close combat ect.)   19. Playing with a buddy, we've never had problems finding vehicles. It's keeping them that we've found to be impossible so far. Every single vehicle we find is gone the next day, no matter where or how well we hide it. Even on low populated servers. No idea if they're getting stolen every time or it's a server restart thing.
  20. the current server we have doesnt save vehicles when the servers restart, is this our host or is it the game itself...iv been thinking of switching to another server company to try and see if this works on your servers...can anyone whose purchased a server confirm if vehicles and tents actually save correctly after server restarts?

    Yeah this happens more often now? Or is it random and I have just been unlucky lately? Does anyone know if the vehicles go to some previous save or re-spawn in one of the spawn areas?

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

    We have 2 servers now- Our public server is busted but so far our private server is saving vehicles at least. Problem using a private hive server is you start over - so effectively you have 2 characters or more (depending on how many private servers you join). So the Priv server guys are fixing the issue that the devs aren't - why are the 2 not talking to each other?

    Anyone know if there is a scripts/remoteexec.txt entry that can detect players warping vehicles around the map? We had someone do it last night while I was in the vehicle. absolutely nothing in the scripts/remoteexec.log files when it happened.

    Well as one of the "camp owners" and only 1 of 3 admins that can take down the server, I'm call BS. Proof or it didn't happen. While I appreciate you're a shit head for blowing up vehicles, I was long asleep by this time. Dazoe, fried his video card recently, so he can't even play the game (2/3 admins). Red_404 is the only other admin that would have been awake, and he's not a huge fan of this game, so I doubt he was playing, and I really doubt he was with the guys in the huey. Also, you only show how dumb you are from your statement... Anytime the server is restarted, the huey returns to Skalisty island. It's been that way since it was brought back. I'm sure all of our vehicles are destroyed though, as they don't respawn back after being blown up. So getting to my next point since all anyone can ever do is yell out admin abuse these days, is why would we have restarted the server? We wouldn't have gained any benefit from doing so. Other than popping tents back up that you would have knocked over. And again, that requires an admin to restart. The guys flying around the huey last night are guys that join our mumble. Something I recommend you try sometime. The other thing, every 10 minutes there's a global message that says something along the lines of questions? comments? concerns? - contact us at [email protected]. I see several emails from other players complaining two players teleporting around, being killed, and coming back a minute or so later and killing them. Yet I don't see a single email from you. So, from what I can tell. Something crazy happens, and instead of contacting the admins of the server, you get on here and cry admin abuse? Like always, I will look into this incident and I will find out what happened on the server around the time you made your post on this forum crying. We don't abuse our server, if the server goes down it's for 1 of 3 reasons, normal restart which will be warned in chat first, emergency reboot due to someone scripting (short warning in chat), or crash. Yes, this game does crash. Especially if someone sets off a bunch of satchels at once. I've crashed my own server setting off 15 satchels at once. Add in the number of vehicles you were destroying at the same time. That's one theory at least. Anyway, I'll talk to the other two admins and the guys on mumble (that you shot in the huey) and find out what happened and I'll post back here. Go ahead, we welcome you. It's just more players on our server. We enjoy having players on our sever, which is why we don't admin abuse our server. And your post just seems like it was wrote by a 10 year old. For every 1 person that complains about our server, I can find 5 more that praise it. Maybe I just need to have them start flooding the forums that you crying infants. And "DayZ developers.... get your act together"? Really? Most flaws of this game come from ARMA II, and DayZ has already officially announced it will become a stand alone. So stop bitching about the flaws of this ALPHA MOD. As server admins, we bust our ass off trying to keep the server clean of script kiddies and keep the game fun to play as much as possible. It's not easy, and we get a lot of other players that think every time something happens to the server it MUST be admin abuse. All in all, you're not the first player to find our camp, you won't be the last. It's part of the game, and we loose vehicles every day. I don't care if we loose the vehicles, and I know the other two admins don't care cuz they hardly play.

    No vehicles spawning on new server.

    Same problem here, but I run 2 servers. 1 of them spawn the vehicles but at server restart they go back to their original spot with no repairs at all and tents do not save items, but they are there after server restart (no items in it ofc). The other server vehicles spawn as well but when server restart the vehicle you have turn into another vehicle or just go back to spawn point, example, I had a heli, ural, quadbike and 3 tents full of stuff, server restarted and the heli became a tractor, ural became a bicicle, quadbike was instact (OHHHH) and the 3 tents were still there but no items inside of it. This is pretty annoying considering we are paying least 30€ for a server that is not working. Not because of the server provider, but because of the mod itself. The older server is around a month old and the new one around 8 days. Just going to play on other people servers and stop paying for mine, this is the last month I'm paying for both servers if this problem don't get fixed until the end of the month. Had enough.
