    Is this game dying?

    I get what you're saying, but there's still plenty of stuff to do. How many vehicles/helicopters/boats have you found (original spawns) and repaired to fully-functioning? Have you tried helping new players instead of just killing them? The game is what you make it -- for most people, it's hardcore Call of Duty.

    First Lingor experience

    I enjoy Lingor a lot more... -Seems to be a lot less hackers - Private hives are quick (Lingor.tk hive is a bit slow) - Nice big map - Lots of buildings - Lots of lootable buildings - Lots of towns - Lots of POI - Spawn points are on the edge of the island, most people focus going to the centre Calamar/Airfields - Control Towers and Barracks are a lot more common - Easier to pick up and play - A busy server you can encounter a few people To me the map is huge, it has a lot of towns that make the running long distances a bit more interesting, where as normal DayZ on Chenarus there is only a handful of towns worth visiting with most of them with empty buildings. The fact that all buildings are enterable makes looting a bit more interesting, spoilt for choice on what room to go into but not everyone has loot. I find hte problem with Chenarus is if I visit say Polana and I go into the town, there are only 1/2 residential buildings and a supermarket if there is nothing there I'm bummed because all other buildings are useless. So much running a barely any reward. There are also a lot more airfields which makes sense for an island with a military theme, vehicles are easier to come by and there is a highway that allows for quick travel when driving but you are exposing yourself massively (Stole a GAZ and was driving down the highway and got chased by two guys in a military jeep was great fun, lost them on the mountain rounds. To me the map has a much more enjoyable feel to it but it doesn't have the scarce feel of DayZ because it is quite easy to find an AKM within a few minutes of spawning. Though to be honest that scarcity of items and weapons grows tiresome in DayZ when there is only one or two spawns in a "City" because only a handful of buildings can be entered. Chenarus + might change that but I can't help but think they won't be increasing the amount of loot spawns but only spreading out the current spawns through the new buildings which will just making looting so boring. I also think for that reason people are not KOS as much on Lingor, I've come across a few people and had engagements but a lot of the time it turns out friendly and i think that is down to the rarity of items. What I have learnt I think is DayZ and Lingor don't feel to me that they have the replayability factor in a few months time, which causes concern for me... I'm so bored of Chenarus now and knowing they're recycling the map puts a damper on the standalone, unless they stretch it out massively in the surrounding forests I don't think I'll enjoy it as much as Lingor. You're talking about normal DayZ right? That is why I play Lingor now because normal DayZ was so glitched I lost half my items in my backpack from skin changes and I could log out and log back in with a different primary weapon that I dropped a year ago.

    What is the "Humanity" thing?

    Being a good guy is only hard if you run as lone wolf because then you never know who to trust, but I would hope that most players who know the "hero" costume would be willing to trust the player wearing it. Then again any player who doesn't trust me has less to gain from killing me than from trusting me, I have several good camps, have access to vehicles and have no problems putting myself at risk to save a dying player.

    Using Razor wire as base defense

    I never understand why people care so much about their stuff, if you don't want someone to steal it stay logged in there playing 24 hours a day. Part of this game is wandering around and having a chance meeting with some poor survivor's base and they are not there maybe because they are raiding a town or just asleep. At the end of the day, if you don't want to lose it keep it on your person when you log out. Razor wire should never be that hard to get past if you have a tool box as you would just open it up and grab some handy and small wire cutters, snip snip i am stealing your stuff :) Having seen the map from an aerial view tents are not hidden very well, tent bases and vehicles are easily spotted from a helicopter barbed wire just makes it easier as someone in the group will probably start artifacting like a boss and we just fly that way. XX Styles (loves robbing other peoples stuff, so much easier than looking for crashed heli's and going to the NWAF)
  6. Cause it's either rolling back, or playing with tents and vehicles (If you're lucky enough to have any on your server)? The only thing that really bugs me here is the lack of answer from any dayZ staff. This is a severe problem that affects many servers and drives people either away to take a break till it's fixed or not play anymore at all. Cause here's the truth: Vehicles, camps are pretty much as "End game" as it gets right now and removing that pretty much rips the soul out of the game. So what you wanna do? Keep using the broken patch for the sake of "Testing" or rollback and have your cars back? Cause there isn't anything to say that hasn't been said yet, it's a HIVE issue that apparently affects instances higher than a certain number. As long there isn't a statement of some sort that the dev team is aware of the issue, I see no other way than to NOT use the patch.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

    I agree with you, however i guess the only reason why 1.7.3 has been delayed is because graphical bugs are still there (i was told that by a guy who had the opportunity to play it at gamescom) I hope other stuff have been fixed (tent, vehicles, random coast respawn, backpack dupe while wearing camo, .. ) That being said, i reckon dev team have not finished the development of this fantastic mod at all, rather then they are focussing on organizing the huge work for the incoming standalone version.
  8. It is touch and go at the minute. It seems that server restarts can make tents and vehicles not load properly. Keep restarting til they are back and everything works as intended.

    Vehicles.. Lets be honest

    Yestarday me and my brother found 7 vehicles, 1 bus, 2 offroad pickup trucks, 1 tractor, 1 bike, ATV and 1 hutchback. We still have all vehicles but the bike, we never took the ATV because we found the 2 pickup trucks at it. The bus was the only one that didn't look like it was taken, It was fixed up though but parked at the gas station in cherno.
  10. I'm a new player of Dayz and Arma, but am faring quite well. Playing with my third character now, and have survived for four days with decent gear. I sometimes play with a few friends, but am looking for one/more people to team with. I usually play around 17-03 UTC. What I can bring to a team: - Forest fighting tactics (military training, forest area combat, squad/platoon leader) - Entry/support/engagement tactics in an urban environment - Excellent map/navigation skills (I have yet to find a compass, despite looting hundreds or thousands of buildings, still can find my bearings quite easily even in unfamiliar terrain just using a map, watch and geography) Where I like to be: - Heading, coordinating or being a part of a looting team, in the action What I need support with: - Sniper support (yet to master evaluating ranges in the game beyond 300m) - Vehicles (can not pilot a helicopter) What kind of team I am looking for: - Easy going - Ability to follow a plan - size 1-10 - No outright newbie killing/banditry/douchebaggery, though I don't fear firefights PM me if you're a solo player or in a team and I fit your profile. I speak fluent english and finnish.
  11. My Wishlist even if some of this already posted: Zombies: 1. Zombies should be way harder to beat, bodyshots just slow Zombies down ONLY Headshots kill them for example. 2. Zombies get attracted by sound on greater range, they do chain reakt in big citys so you HAVE to be quiet going there or you fight all of them :D 3. Zombies should be verry infectious, not like in the movies that you die for sure, but you should getting sick if a dead rotten one scratch or bite you. 4. a bigger variation of Zombies... like some without legs or one arm near headless ones and so on..would be great for the gamefeeling. 5. Zombies use ALL openings in Houses not just one or accidently two 6. Zombie Hordes roaming Loot 1. less loot overall it has to be a real fight to survive as the things are now u can get loot in 30 min to survive forever. 2. make hunting and using Refill- flasks more important. 3. Good Guns should be the hardest thing to get in Day Z. 4. Ammo should be rare to get to avoid run out of ammo you should be able to get them of dead bodys/Zombies with some kind of tool. 5. Crossbows should be more useful 6. maybe a system where simple weapons can be handmade like a Wood Spear or a Bow if you got a Knife or special tool to craft them. Inventory and UI 1. Backpack should be more easy to handle 2. getting items out of your backpack should cost some time so you have to think about what you got on your body and what you put in your backpack 3. some kind of trading window would be nice 4. a stamina bar for running cause i dont belive ppl can run with a 30 kg backpack for 2 hours without a break. Chara 1. Female Skins 2. clothing should be decided by player not random 3. Ghillies and camo maybe selfmade? MAP and Weather 1. Bigger map *g* 2. Most buildings should be accessable 3. Weather impact should be way more important slower movement in Snow and Rain for example or faster need of water/food 4. Rain could be a thread for tunnels and buker if they where placed at the wrong place (happy drowning) Realism 1. House spawning - you spawn in a random city in a house to make the first minutes more exiting and "realistic" like the plague just spread... in this house you have one can of beens and one cola/pepsi sure spawn (and only at spawning for preserve camping) and 2-3 random items like a knife, watch or something like that. 2. first minutes ur are always in panic mode 3. you have no starting gear only the clothes you wear.. 4. weight of items you carry should have an impact on moving that would make building a base more important. 5. more Vehicles but mutch harder to repair. 6. refill tank without cherrys at some places like gas stations 7. nerv bikes 80 kmh downhill with a citybike is a bit over the top xD Bugfixes and Cheaters No need to tell i think :P thats my list sorry for bad grammar
  12. Had this problem with UAZ, ATV, Bike, Ural and Bus. I bet the missing vehicles are buggy too. Without the possibility to save vehicles and tents, DayZ is a useless piece of ...

  14. Had a few issues with the hoster. Worst thing: The servers go in some kind of idle mode when nobody is online - doesn't sound bad at first, but it erases all your tents and vehicles, which means that these servers are NOT able to save vehicles properly in the HIVE. Greatest disadvantage of the hoster! As long as this issue exists Zap-Hosting is not a good choice for DayZ. Maybe for other games, but DayZ is not playable on their servers, not as long as the have this Idle-Mode activated on their servers. I can't figure out why someone would do something like this on DayZ!? Also bad: The support is very fast in editing tickets and do stuff. But just the first time... if the ticket is not solved in first attempt you won't hear anything again, until you open a new one - happened to us: Ticket opened and answered, no solution found in first attempt, no answer anymore - opened a new ticket two days later, same progress like the first - one day later we opened a new ticket (after our old ones have been closed without even trying to solve the problem) and nobody answered anymore our tickets. Two tickets of us stayed completely unnoticed til we had to call the hoster. Then we opened a new one and all they said was that they will forward this topic to another employee. Same here, the ticket was never ever edited again...
  15. Hi guys! well i've decided to re-host UK31 again from the lovely guys at VILAYER! Top blokes them and if you looking to rent a server do not hesitate!!! Server details are as follows : UK31 DayZ EU/UK Steam Group - Vilayer Player Slots - 50 UTC -6 Veteran CH/3D - On Name tags - Off Waypoints - On Server has now been reset so any duping tents, barbed wire will not be there from before! Server now has an exclusive security patch that thwarts people spawning in vehicles and weapons, it also prevents people from getting into the admin control panel. On my travels around the server last night vehicles have indeed spawned and should hopefully be still there as i type. Server will only be restarted by myself and that will be manually done with a message in global chat before it happens! Any complaints, criticisms or cheat reporting you can contact me via our Mumble or Steam Group page below! I am always on Steam so getting hold of me shouldn't be a problem!! Here are 2 suggestions off the top of my head and I'll try to come up with some more later, but wouldn't it be sweet if you could find camouflaged/ Ghillie blankets which could possibly be draped over vehicles in order to hide them from other survivors grubby hands hehe, to make sure this isn't too unfair this would never be in the mod because combined with hiding way off the boundaries of the map it would be totally unfair I think. Secondly what if you could deploy landmines to protect your base? A small wire extends out of the ground that unless someone slowly approaches and disarms with a toolbox would go unnoticed, basically this would serve as a more deadly upgrade to the bear trap and allow additional base/camp defense, Give beans if you like it :P
  17. Oh my god this forum is full of so many whiners. Considering the "I don't know how many blood I have" QQ: You don't know how many blood is in your body right now, do you? Sure an average number is out there but when you hurt yourself you won't be able to say: "I just list 2,343 litres of my blood." You would just feel bad and might lose concious. And that is what happens in the game. When you see that you are not at full colour anymore just eat until it does not get better. And if there is a sniper with a .50cal waiting at the NWAF for you; there is no difference what so ever if you have 10k or 12k. A shot to the body will either kill you instantly or knock you unconscious so the bandit can take the kill shot. No difference there. The "I can't keep track of my kills"-QQ: First of all, if you want just to keep track of your kills use a notepad IN REAL LIFE. That is how I mark things on the map, writing down the coordinates on a little piece of paper. Sometimes i sketch the grid square to not lose vehicles. So do that if you want. There is no need to implement a notepad in the game. And there is no reason this game should give you an indicator if you succesfully killed a guy. It doesn't happen in real life. If you want to know, go ahead and look for the dead body. If you are a bandit and you kill for supplies, that is the risk you have to take. Rocket said that he wants to go away from all those HUD things. If you are cold, you will move slower or shake. If you are sick, you cough. If you are hungry your stomach will have a growling stomach. So deal with these changes.
  18. Vehicles are screwed up BIG TIME in the current version. Yesterday, I was on a bicycle, when the 5 pm gmt restart occured. After relog, the bike was gone, and a completely fixed bus was in the spot where I last put the bicycle. @smKes BTW, the server restart at around 6 pm gmt was manually?!? Would be very nice to announce out-of-the-norm server restarts in the future! I knew it was coming, as you were kicked by BE for trying to spawn a vehicle :P But I think 30 or 60 sec would be enough for _everyone_ to properly save before server shutdown... Thanks :thumbsup:
  19. People seem to assume that because someone has a hacked item, they must be a hacker or a duper. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Over the past months, I've found dozens of tents & many vehicles with hacked items in them. Should we not use the vehicles because they contain hacked items? Remove them, destroy them, they simply respawn after server restarts. I don't use hacked items, but I've certainly given up trying to get rid of them. Just because people use bugged tents or vehicles that contains hacked items, doesn't mean they're dupers or hackers.
  20. why read that? i just want people to know that if you see that name and the GUID matches. you have a hacker in your server. not that it matters since they are a dime a dozen. server: us349 time: 9-11 pm eastern why suspect?: 8 guys along with myself in north east airfield, had been there for multiple hours. finally decided it was time to move on. 4 guys get in the UAZ as i along with 3 others are doing a final item check in the hangers. the area was clear of enemies at this point. We had an extensive overwatch set up. once the car started up with four of my men inside, it exploded. 3 died, 1 man was ejected and lived. at this point i had run out of the hanger to see who was attacking i saw the car coming down froma spiral and 1 guy falling next to it (the ejected friendly). no one else around. I then heard (in a pretty scary voice) "i seeeee yooou" followed by a very loud helicopter sound clip. there was no helicopter. at this point the man who survived the explosion saw a man apear and disapear. it occured a second time seconds later and i witnessed it. i saw his name *the shield." and then just like that he was gone again. but the sounds continued to play. i assumed he was somehow invsible and had most likey been watching us for some time. i proceeded to drop to lobby, find him in arma 2 rcon and ban his GUID. normally i would think it possible that he just spawned in on us but after seeing him teleporting, hearing the sounds (clearly an intimidation move) and knowing our area was secure enough to know some one couldnt have planted a sachel on the vehicle. my only course of action was to ban for cheats. maybe i was being a little excessive when i said nuking, it seemed more like a sachel charge. i can asure you though, there is no way this player snuck up to the car and placed a charge without being seen. lately the hackers have been running rampent in my server and its very discouraging not being able to catch them. this morning we installed a security patch and it has seemed to help with vehicle/weapon spawning but obviously this player was able to still hit us. there have been similar incidents through out the day with vehicles blowing up for no reason, with players inside. if any one has pointers on how to better admin the server please make them known, im just trying to do my best without wrongfully banning someone, i am the only one with admin access because i dont want abuse from server side administrators occuring. i dont have logs of this incident, i will start leaving logs open so i can copy and paste after such incidents. if "the shield" would like to post here and explain why his gameplay was so suspicious that would maybe make me quesiton my actions but im not new to the war of server admin vs game exploiter.

Our main goal here is to watch over the post apocalyptic land that is Chernarus as best we can and assist anyone that we can. Requirements to join: Must be 16+ Friendly, no bandits allowed Friendly, don't be a dick and QQ about people in the clan Must have Teamspeak, i hate skype, don't have mumble, and ingame voice chat is asking to be killed GMT-5 preferred but will take anyone from the US, sorry to my fellow European gamers, but with school starting soon i think you guys would be left in the dark since you are 5 hours ahead of me. Must have Mic IF YOU ARE UNDER 16 AND WISH TO JOIN, TRY TO PLAY WITH SOMEBODY IN OUR GROUP AND GET A RECOMMENDATION FROM THEM Rules: Share the loot that you find such as bandages/sodas/beans/etc. If you find like 4 cans of beans, share it with somebody if they need it, don't hoard it all to yourself like an ass Military loot is finders keepers, but if you need AKM mags but find stanag mags and you know somebody needs them, let everyone know what you found so they know its there and they can tell you to bring it back if they need it Watch each others back No debauchery such as randomly shooting as a joke to attract every zombie in town and possible bandits DO NOT SHOOT/KILL ON SIGHT, if they are running the other way, don't kill them. If you heard shots before you saw them, followed by somebodies name saying that they died, THEN feel free to KOS but if you just heard shots, try to stay clear as they were probably just killing the undead Only people we KOS are snipers, nobody likes a sniper unless it's one of us or they're friendly Don't play out of position (will get to this later) Feel free to blow up TS with nonsense such as girls/guys/games/the weather, w/e idc, but if somebody has something important to say regarding the task at hand, i as you to stfu This is a democracy, if we don't have anything to do, ideas will be put to a vote, don't force everyone to do something by putting a gun to somebodies head, we will kill you Failure to follow these rules will result in punishment that i see fit **What We Do** Scavenge and raid small towns/cities Hunt for camps/vehicles Assist new players/players in need Search for helicopters/crash sites Raid the airfields and military encampments Play jokes on each other HAVE FUN Kill Bandits ***Roles** 1. Sniper - Provides over watch for the group when we raid cities and scavenge small villages. Needs to be proficient in sniping, no beginners (it isn't rocket science though, anyone who's played battlefield bad company and up can sniper). No specific sniper is necessary as long as it has decent range, range finder is also unnecessary 2. Medic - Carries all of the medical supplies such as bandages, morphine, epi pens, etc. Position is also not required to engage during battles as a dead medic is useless 3. Support - Must have a heavy machine gun such as the m240 or the m249. Just needs to be able to suppress any bad folk we may engage in our travels and to cover our friends. May even have to eliminate an entire cities worth of zombies if that should occur 4. Assault - Pretty much no description needed, just a regular grunt 5. Scavenger - No gun, just a hatchet or crowbar.   22. Crazy amount of vehicles ! I had the opposite last night... found 6 heli wrecks with a ton of guns ..and only 1 bicycle. The Elektro bus was still at its original spawn point but i was too tired too worry about fixing it.

    Dayz Standalone: Such as Sleeping bags!

    Ammo: agreed Matches: agreed Batteries: agreed ( would stop excessive thermal skannin in the woods) - Maybe so that the nvgs use less battery power that the thermal, thermal is power hungry in rl and overpowered in dayz.. - So hungry that you would use it only in extreme situations and when its absolutely nessessary... Knives: Agreed Sleeping bags: Sleeping bag or disconnect timer.. I would prefer disconnect timer tough. And no disconnecting in houses... - With sleeping bag disconnect timer would be less, like 15 seconds(animation) and without it like 30seconds? While these if you get shot or zed agro the timer is canceled. Would stop combat disconnecting and reward those who are willing to carry that sleepybag. Medics: agreed Cars/vehicles: Agreed, now it took like 3 or so hours to get all for a chopper... with 2 quys together. And its fun when you can have like 3 main roto assemblies(6losts each) in you backbag and only 2 guns(10 slots each) :lol: And jetfueled heli will run with gasoline? And the fuel tanks should runout, certain amount of jerry can fills from one tank and like once in a month they would be "wiped" and would be refilled. Would make fuel scavenging more hard and you would really look for it... Bigger map: Agreed on part.. I have "heard" that its going to be bigger, something about "cherranus+" and more enterable buildings. I would be still happy map size that is atm but maybe just add some hiding mechanics like tarb or brances to cover the vehicle. Tough I would like to see whole new map, cherranus has been zigzaged across few times now.. and make textures better, now tents and vehicles glow in the woods and are so easy to spot.. Admins: Total agreemend here... I would prefer developer provided server that community cant fuck them up with settings and admin abuse.
  25. dont play on 2 month old server find vehicles, rare items, other vauable things tis magical luckthough i have screens from the second character i made. 4 vehicles + 1 crash site found so far, but the server went down and hasnt come back up yet :( edit2: not to mention this is the 4th time ive done this, and each time i have had multiple vehicles + found multiple crash sites.
