Use DayZ Commander, Sixlauncher is way too confusing and advanced, DayZ commander was also made only for DayZ. Aswell as that you can also download all the maps there.

It can take up to 10 minutes to get into a server. Get a cracked version of fraps and keep it running, if the FPS hits over 500 then you know it's crashing. Just be patience and go AFK while connecting. It can also depend on how much players are on the server.
