In actual fact your guys opened on us the first time we ever came across you... for NO REASON. Since then we have encountered you once... Noodle was shooting at you that time due to the fact that your clan of 'survivors' killed us and sunk our corpses. So yes you guys are the hostile ones. I have not killed 65k worth of players believe me... it's a bug. I had a bug the other day where I was logging on within seconds I was a bandit and then in the next I wasn't...I've lost my backpack a few times this way. (May I add I am currently on 61k so much for being a bandit ay?) There was a player named Shepster who was untagged (I'm pretty certain but anyway) I reiterate that if you came down the hill we would not of shot you. You are making out like we were the bandits from the off. Noodle only disconnected after he died you killed all 3 of us in under 30 seconds. If you want to shoot us for fear of us attacking you? Just remember it was you who shot us first and killed us first and sunk our corpses.. We simply found a vehicle. If you come across us and we see your clan tags and identify as friendly we won't kill you. Beany on the other hand attacks anyone with his hacked gun and he will not receive the same treatment, sad thing is we're never in town where he camps so the chances of that are remote. By the way you killing us for no reason isn't a moan we said at the time fair enough you killed us fair and square. We don't mind sharing vehicles etc we only said we would get revenge on you by sinking your corpses and we've not even bothered looking for you... but so far you've gone and stashed all the vehicles again... we left them in the open we knew it was someone else's camp. Just remember that. We're survivors we've only killed bandits around the NE Airfield lately Again we encountered Zippy at another one of your camps... who shot at us first.... surprise surprise Just another heads up... we know where a lot of your bases are and we've even found some of our old vehicles... We noticed after we got shot at by Zippy your teamspeak must've been busy because a load of you jumped on... What are you so worried about lol... Shame we can't come on and get to know you 'fellow' survivors better.

1.7.2.5 Tents and Vehicle Inventories not saving.
khanny replied to NocturnalS1n's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
We've just got our server straight onto 1.7.2.5 and having the same issue of all tents we put up dont hold items past server restart, plus any vehicles we repair and move return to the pre repaired state and position at restart...we've now repaired the V3S three times and lost it. Is there any way to roll our server back to 1.7.2.4 given the files we have were new with 1.7.2.5? I can see in the server admin panel (we're a managed server) the 1.7.2.4 patch files but I'm not sure it will connect to the hive properly since our files were post the update? Anyone know if this is going to break the server or not? -
No. The best you can do is monitor it and take action. It won't be stopped until at least standalone and higher populations attract the behavior for obvious reasons. When the server is at 20 or less it's usually only the people spawning vehicles, ammo boxes and handing themselves ghillie suits and coyote backpacks over and over. Soon as it hits 30+ it's only a matter of time until teleports, broken legs, death, etc.

Forget all of that, trying to compare this game to actual, real life experience is not only ridiculous, it's impossible. We're not in an apocalypse. And even then, yes, we'd all act differently there then we do in a video game without any actual consequences. The 'survival' aspect of the game you guys continue to tout doesn't last beyond day 2 for any player with a grasp of common sense and awareness of his surroundings. After that, the only thing left to do is find vehicles, and kill other players. Most people at this point have already tooled around with vehicles, made camps, etc. What else would you want these players to do?
-
Hi Coka, I'm not sure why you think Shepster killed you as he wasn't even online at the time, Domain is like yourselves a regular on the server, however he happens to jump on our TS to tell us of strange things i.e hackers or alt f4 so they can be added to the wall of shame. You did indeed find one of our old bases, infact you found two it seems as we watched you guys go from one to the other and bring vehicles between them i.e the uaz and tractor, I was laid between both of you when you returned to the first camp, Sadly I don't think the come down the hill and stating we was friendly would have happened, why? Because in the past you guys have opened fire on us when we posed no threat for no reason, this has resulted on you and your guys i.e Noodle going on the shoot on site list due to your actions. I play passive and have only killed one person in 3months of playing DayZ, the pvp side of it doesn't interest me which is why you'll never have seen me at the fire fights, the other night just so happened that I was that way out so thought I'd check our old camps to see if anyone had taken them over, which it had appeared you guys did. We just had a few people in the area of the north east airfield so it wasn't a long run up to see if you returned, which you did. Then the people I was with opened fire on you and killed two of you, Hydr8 (which i assume is you?) James, which you both took the kills like men however Noodle conveniently 'lost connection' within 2seconds of the first shot being fired after running around the tents for the previous 2 minutes. Your humanity will be like that as it carries over on all the life's you've had, so you either shoot on site or you've sniped fresh spawns yourself, it doesn't just bug out to that amount, The joys of being a bandit I guess, We have no problem with you i.e actively hunting you, it just happened you was in the wrong place at the wrong time and with your guys previous actions the risk was too high for me to just walk over to you and go 'Hi I see you guys have found our old camp help yourselves'.

Will Green Mountain be in the standalone?
Ajvkorn replied to Darky1307's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I tried to get into the whole "Green Mountain" joke, but it's just dumb. Nothing happens. It is not spooky or cursed. Truthfully I don't even get how it all started. I go there to try and find vehicles and I can kill all the zombies really easily. Even at night nothing happens. So why you made this thread is beyond me. -
Admin "scans" player gear, threatens ban/kick
SoWeMeetAgain replied to SoWeMeetAgain's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
nasty admins? I don't know about nasty. But making up their own rules (which I didn't know...) and putting them above the official rules... even stating that they don't give a damn about the official rules if they feel like it... yeah, that creeps me out a little. I am really glad that you guys have this mature approach to it - don't care where we are, where our tents are etc... Hope you still think that way after we first met and only I walk away ... with your gear and vehicles :) No, I am not a bandit, I do not shoot on sight, but ... I want the heli. -
A few questions (nametags, hiding bodies, massive damage & hackers)
Snowley replied to lukasaurus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Can't really weigh in on the first two, but the third: The AS50 can do 174205 damage in a shot. They may have found the gun legitimately, they may have hacked, but the gun can do that much damage when it is loaded with it's native ammunition as opposed to the m107 rounds. It's an anti-material rifle primarily used for killing vehicles, but players die from it no matter where they are hit and it is a favourite for hackers. -
1. No mate you cannot ban everyone. But your clan should not be using them! It's bad darts. 2. Yes caught him doing that a few times now. In my eyes a real pro... 3. Nah noodle is a bit of a mong we were server hopping at the time (we have a camp on another server) We found what we presumed was an old camp of yours and moved some vehicles there. (Note with the server hop we are in the middle of nowhere and not doing it to gain advantage on someone) I have no problem with your clan in actual fact I think Shepster is a pretty good player. I do however hate hacked items, hackers and campers... we've cleared sniper hill outside Elecktro a few times now. If your guys killed my guys? Who is this Domain? I thought we were killed by Shepster! all 3 of us died there was no Alt-F4? If that is an old base of yours if your guys would've come down the hill and said friendly then no fighting would've took place. The fact is your clan are very aggressive and considering you labelled yourself survivors act like bandits. I am always in bandit gear which is weird because I seem to have accumulated -65,000 humanity (must be a bug). So I am constantly a target... however both the guys I was with, one has the 'hero' skin and was just gunned down no questions asked by your guys who label themselves 'surviviors' It appears it is you who have the problem you most probably saw Noodle associated him with me and shot him because of it... So I think you need to take a look at yourself! If only that were true

If you hide a vehicle, and log out, will it stay there?
[email protected] replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Logging in and out isn't the problem, the vehicle will stay where you left it, unless someone finds it. The main issue is, at least in this patch, will the vehicle still be there after the SERVER RESTART? That's the problem. Tents and vehicles are glitching hard in this patch, so be careful and be prepared to cry a little bit if you're vehicle disappears after the restart. -
The cool night time breeze swept across the fields and trees, it was a fairly bright evening and the moon was full providing an unusual amount of vision for this time of night. The two men now huddled on opposite sides of the fire, tucked away into the dense forest. They had set up camp for the evening along a ridge that overlooked the hills to the east, their fire just out of view. The soldier looked at Tim, in his worn out jeans, blue plaid shirt and brown worn cap. He is a man of strong build, broad shoulders and a solid weight, even though he clearly had not been eating enough recently. Their gear was leaned up against a tree facing the fire, packed with canned food and soda, ammo for Tim's hunting rifle and other survival gear Tim had found along his on-going migration. Tim looked at the fire, eyes glossy "Where were we supposed to go, back to the evacuation points? Those were cleared out weeks ago, the army left behind eveything at their sites. Everything from guns, packs, ammo and supplies, hell even some vehicles got left behind, ones they couldn't air-lift out of there. No there was nothing to do post-evacuation except survive, there was nowhere to go, nobody to help us anymore; you were completely on your own, abandoned. The government wanted to contain it, that was priority number one, keep the fucking virus within Chernarus and everthing else fell behind that. No more emergency air drops for food and water (at that time we didn't know the virus wasn't in the water supply) no more patrols in the streets except along the borders, and there was certaintly no more broadcasts from the mountain, one day we woke up and everything was quiet, no more radio chatter, no more emergency broadcast on the television, just total isolation; we had been cut off. You know back when it started nobody knew what it was, you didnt hear about people being attacked until much later and by then, if you weren't on a helicopter or a jet out of there, you were fucked man. No chance. We all heard rumors of course, there wasn't much to go off though, the army was always testing some new jet, or firing some new high-tec gun they just poured three billion dollars into -hell there are three fuckin' military airfields within 250km of each other." [He strokes the fire with a stick and piles on another log to the contained fire] "Well i'm sure you remember those first few weeks when people tried juming the quarantined zones, must have been 40 or 50 people shot dead, right there on the spot, poor bastards. They were just trying to get the fuck out of there, most of them probably weren't even infected, but who knows?" Marcus: [Where were you from, originally i mean.] "Gorka, i was lucky i got reports of the infections along the southern coast before it hit the smaller towns to the north, there really wasn't much of a forward notice though, i think i heard about it spreading a day before it hit Polana, not far from where i was, you heard of the Polana outbreak right?" [Marcus nods, scanning the area slowly with his cold eyes.] "Jesus man, can you imagine? They say it was the evacuee's fleeing Electro, hundreds of 'em. They flooded the town looking for aid at around midnight, unfortunately they didn't realize that behind them was the masses of infected they were running from. How could they know? The army's blockade back in the city had failed, the infected had overrun the men in uniform and were now pouring out into the countryside, right after their food. Around 2 am the first packs arrived from the south, by sunrise nobody was left. Four-thousand civillians infected or eaten that night, fucking christ man." Marcus: "Did you... did you have any family here before?]" "No-" Tim pauses, as if he has heard something "My neighbor-" [The soldier motions for Tim to be quiet holding up his hand, and getting lower to the ground. The surrounding bushes and foliage are sufficient enough to hide the dim light from the fire to passersby, but Tim quickly pours dirt all over it, vanquishing the flame instantaneously. Over the hillside the two men lay low looking through the bushes, rifles drawn.] Tim using his scope on the old hunting rifle: "Group of three, or four maybe. 300 metres ahead, just below the tree-line. They're heading for the stream i think, they might have a sniper, they seem organized." [The men now talked in a low whisper, barely audible even to eachother watching as the group of three men moved quickly across the clearing. They were fanned out, at least five yards apart from eachother but clearly in formation. The man in the front thrust his hand into the air balled up into a fist. The other two men stopped at once, crouched aiming their weapons.] "Uh-oh" said Tim "they spotted something." [The man in the front held two fingers from his right hand in the hair, resembling a peace sign, then with his pointer finger he pointed to the left, immediately after he pointed to the right. The two men behind him moved quickly forward on either side of him, into the tall grass encroaching before the stream ahead] "This isn't good man" said Tim as he looked through his makeshift scope taped to his hunting rifle "there's a man down there, a fourth." "With them? With that group?" asked marcus. "No, he has his hands up in the air, i can make out some of his words -i think he's begging. Those bastards!" [The elderly man with his hands up began weeping, looking into his killer's eyes, Tim could make out a few words 'please-this-just-water-kids- a shot rang out. It echoed through the hills past Tim and Marcus, as the elderly man slumped forward first to his knees then face first into the muddy ground beneath him, the blood from the bullethole in his forehead streaming into the water and dirt.] "Damn it" said Tim as he lowered his rifle and crawled back behind the foliage to the now extinguished fire pit "just once i would like to see that play out differently." Marcus looked terrified, staring at Tim as if he had just witnessed an alien abduction. "Wait a goddamn second here, that- that right there, you've seen that before? Like, people just-" "Look soldier boy, this isn't fucking training camp anymore! You thought you were gonna parachute down here and only have to deal with the infected you left behind? Newsflash kid, you left about ten thousand healthy people here when everything went dark, of that let's assume that 90 -no no, 95 percent of those people are now dead or infected. That still leaves roughly five hundred souls, scared shitless, starving and looking to do nothing but stay alive, what you just saw sums up pretty much the daily routine here; kill or be killed." Marcus looked down at his shoulder patch with their country's emblem sewn on, he couldn't help but feel like this wasn't home anymore. "So i guess they were right about renaming this place huh? Sector-Z." "Welcome to Chernarus." END SCENE.

If you saved it, yes. Safe to save it multiple times. Though some vehicles reset in 2.5 I have read? Maybe happened to an ATV of mine. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

We've lost a helicopter three times this week to disapearing vehicles .. im not mad i just repeat the following about no updates. -
Here in NY, the police do something akin to entrapment and it works pretty effectively. I was thinking that this could be applied to the game in order to identify and ban players who are hacking. How it is done here: Police who have multiple warrants for an individual (longstanding) send out letters addressed to the perp in the form of a contest winner. When they show up to claim their "free prize", they get arrested. Works like a charm. Here is how it can be applied in Dayz: Spawn a server that looks just like any other server. Multiple servers would work best. The trick would be to intentionally not spawn any vehicles. The first individuals to enter into a vehicle would be flagged / banned. The same could be said of certain weapons. It would have to log who the first person to use the vehicle / wep would be in order to prevent any false positives but it is a semi organic way to bait and capture hackers. I know there isnt much in the logs but it seems like something the main hive would be able to track. Hopefully the standalone wont have any of these issues but just an idea to ensnare some of these kids that were pushed off their swings by their mommies

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
Zombie Jesus replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Little harsh on you but what three things? Hacking and duping will not be fixed in the alpha which Rocket has already admitted in multiple interviews. As I understand it duping and hacking can not really be fixed due to the mod being part of Arma and the risk that it would break aspects of the actual game that the mod is based on. The standalone is not going to be on the Arma 3 engine, it will be on a modified version of Arma 2 engine that they are calling 2.5, there is a video in this thread that has an interview on the subject http://dayzmod.com/f...rma-iii-engine/. In other interviews Rocket has even admitted that the mod is broken, so it is not like he is unaware or does not care about the problems. The only thing that could possibly be fixed in the mod is the issues with graphical glitches, but you have to understand the dayz team is not very large and their limited resources are rightfully being devoted to finishing the standalone that many of us are eagerly awaiting. If the standalone comes out and these major problems have not been reduced then it will be time for complaining, otherwise I would advise some patience. I know you see it all the time but you really do have to understand the concept of alpha testing, until it is a real game just be happy the alpha is actually public or if the glitches and bugs are just too much wait until standalone. Edit: read your original post and see the three issues you were talking about and apologize for getting off topic with hacking and duping (read so many complaint threads lately that they all melt together). The focus of the small development team is on the standalone and Rocket just finished Gamescon so the delay in fixing these issues is understandable, but two of them should be fairly easy to fix in tents and vehicles. They are going to continue patching (at least they have said that in the past) but will not be doing so as frequently, hoping they can do something about graphics bugs but less hopeful about a quick fix to that issue. Just know I feel your pain, lost a car, a heli, and two bicycles since the latest patch along with two tents filled with rare gear I actually found in a legitimate manner. -
I got a L115A3 in NWAF, never seen it before.

Not everyone enjoys the bugged .5 servers. Aka, Tents/vehicles not saving. Vehicles turning into buses. etc... -
Hey Maromite, Thanks for the server. We're a small group (3-4) we play on 2135. Just a small issue sometimes after a restart the server doesn't seem to have vehicles or tents. Anyways thanks man

It adds a nice little challenge to the task if you ask me. Its VERY much like real life if we were dependant on survival. But also very much like real life, those that choose to take the criminally minded route to survival, will be utterly alone while the rest provide for eachother in growing numbers. Even clans on the fence about who to kill on sight or clans of bandits (that have standards like killing to survive, not to be an ass) stick together as a community. The fact has been stated multiple times, and its quite simple. Taking out medics wont solve your problem. The majority of the people needing help are broken legs or wounded from the hard life on Chernorus and it only grows the passion people have to help others wronged by a selfish bandit. Technically you should be going to the root of the problem. You say medics heal those that are shot by bandits and those not killed (because you have poor marksmanship) log out only to be helped by medics. However, medics dont ask why/how and will help anyone. You really should be taking out your fellow bandits. They are the reason people lot out after being shot unprovoked (most poorly armed newbs), which then need to be healed by a non-partisan medic. Moral of the story....kill all bandits. Bandits should kill bandits as primary targets before killing survivors and medics. They will have the best weapons (from looting players), good control over certain areas because they literally have nothign to lose and go looking for fights, will horde equipment/vehicles and all the best camp sites.

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
thatdearguy replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have a cold right now and it made me think. If the standalone is going to have some kind of dynamic weather system, nights could have slightly different temperatures also. Body temperature should be further affected by how fast you're moving in 'unshielded' vehicles, when you're not wearing thick enough clothing. Because it is DARNED easy to get sick that way sometimes. Examples: driving around on a motorcycle driving around in a car without windshields sitting near the sides / being the gunner of one of those helicopters that have open sides If you stand completely still, a stiff breeze should have the same effect. That + heavy rainfall should chill you down to the bone even if you're wearing a lot of clothing. Bonus thought: running around a lot can make you all hot & sweaty. But if you're not wearing a space suit, it will likely also make you a slight cold the instant you stop running. Getting sick & feverish on top of that would end up making you hotter as well.. HM.. all this calls for a more complex body temperature mechanic. Maybe keep track of a white blood cell count within the blood? I didn't get to post this in the little reddit suggestion event the other day. Felt like I needed to leave this somewhere. :) -
There was a video with a guy running with M14 throu cities and giving hell to people, eliminating groups of three or so with high end gear including vehicles from short distance. That's what called massacre. If you'd posted something similar you'd get some respect here. But judging by your video you're just a pussy.

M107/AS50 and Skill; do they go with one another?
xfortune replied to Obsolescence's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Who cares if it requires skill? Better weapons are supposed to require less skill. The entire point of the game is finding things to make life easier (vehicles, camps, high end weapons, NVGs, etc.). -

AOD's EAST COAST SERVER BACK ONLINE!
chris p. bacon replied to AOD BlackBox's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No clan servers ever have vehicles, not worth it -
there is a server called ZUST that is a private hive with vehicles all over the place. Was pretty decent, only had the entire server killed by a hacker once in 3 hours, which is pretty good. Just be careful of the guys that run the server, they like to approach in groups and say friendly - you need anything?? before shooting you.
-
I have something to add to vehicles. I would like to see some modifications for vehicles that will effect its performance. Not anything like replacing the engine because that requires specialized equipment. But something like an improved muffler to reduce the sound the vehicle makes or all terrain tires to improve speed while off-road. Also after reading the suggestions for bases I would have to say that you would need a much larger world to allow for good size camps to be built. Simply because groups of players will likely spend long hours building an underground base but it only takes one player could come along and ruin the entire thing. Also editing the world to have a more balanced population would be great. Currently the world had high concentration zones such as Cherno, Electro, and the NW air field. This creates problems because of the number of players moving around in these areas. I think as the DayZ standalone comes out world editing will become much more common and that issue could solve itself. All in all this is a grade A thread with awesome suggestions and I hope many of them make it into the actual game.
