first of all, theres tons of GB #00 servers, and second, anyone carying decent legit gear, wont bother fighting hackers since theres a good chance if they hacked theyre guns and vehicles, they allso have esp hacks aimbots and wallhacks. in other words, gtfo of there and hope for a dev fix soon. LOL No. You obviously haven't got a clue, so let me explain: I can stare at logs until my eyes bleed, I'm still only going to be able to get solid proof on about half the hackers in my server on any given night (not even counting the ones running engine hacks, which are at the moment, totally undetectable). I run custom anti-hack scripts, I stream the logs, I watch them like a goddamned hawk, I run ARMA II RCON on my other monitor, I have script filters uploaded to my server, and every night, there's still at least 5 assholes spawning boxes, vehicles, or Teleporting and PKing. This community is built on SA's who invested both time and money in this game, and subsequently had their hands tied by the devs. So if you want to talk shit about SA's, get your facts straight.

Dude i was exactly the same. My group have played for weeks together and only found 1 vehicle. The server restarted as we were driving away to hide and we completely lost it. I was so disheartened, but today I found 3 vehicles. Couldn't believe it. I think the server i play on just had a full reset or something cause looking in to cherry i can see the bus sitting there and people driving abou on bikes and it's the same in elektro too. Fun times :)

A vehicle can use an old batery for years, as it recharges it while driving, remember? Otherwise, an aimpoint-sight runs on a single battery for years, too. So basically, we are only talking about flashlights, nightvision, and rangefinders,as well as special scopes (FN/FAL ANPVS and L85 thermal). I would definitely second the bayonets idea though!! Had this myself, but in Arma2 it seemed unreasonable. Also, radio station broadcasting would be cool...and working radios, of course! And as lategame-elements, getting "stuff" of civilization working again...like electricity or water supply to the houses...to repair, secure and maybe even zombie proof a powerplant would be brutally hard, but kinda cool. Plus customizable vehicles, like with armor on the sides and front, as we see it on a lot of zombie movies... -
Hey Matt! Thanks for your time. Considerations: Now I understand that you guys do not understand (it is very common, you have a very different point of view from us players). For us fans this is a long radio silence: there is no announcement (in the announcements forum) about the next version (remember when it used to have "pending hot fix [version]" and then a description of what it will contain and a ETA? Well, mostly those were all wrong, but it was communication. (I know you announced in the middle of a thread about a possible 6th September release date - but that is not very effective, people want clear communication, not hunting them in middle of random posts) Besides, Rocket's interviews are all the same info over and over again. The community is crazy to hear about just 3 things: 1) When will the graphical glitches be fixed for all (please understand I don't even have this question, I don't have glitches anymore) 2) When can we save tents? (My clan has mostly abandoned the game until this is patched) 3) When can we save vehicles? (My clan has mostly abandoned the game until this is patched) Answer those 3 questions in the announcements forum, in a clear thread about it (and fulfill your promise), and you will get a lot of good will from the community.

It was a hacker that teleported too us when we landed and shot us running around like a mad man with an as50, fair to say he was quickly banned, appeared out of nowhere behind me. Good fun going to have to find the vehicles again though.

In fact if you would fix the tents and vehicles, I would be happy - and you can't say it is that hard, because I heard private hives have fixed it and also shown how to fix it. I used to be a player of DayZ, now I just wait for some tent and vehicle fix for my next login.

I have played on a few servers but yet to find any vehicles. The servers I play on ever so rarely get to 10 people on at a time, during peak time. I have easily looked over 1/3 of vehicle spawns and.. alas nothing. I searched common hiding spots for them, and figured if they are common, they probably aren't anymore, but still.. no cars found, none at all. ALTHOUGH I found a bus. A BUS, crashed in elek. I would hardly call it a vehicle, too much to repair, too busy of a place even for a low pop server and not worth it really. Though it is a car, it is no UAZ or ATV :(

Batteries We have vehicles, gps, infrared, and night vision goggles, and all need electricity to run. Since we are surviving in a world without electricity, batteries should be necessary to keep these items in operating condition. -
Here a few Ideas I've come up with. Hope you like. If you agree please say so and if not then why. -A new challenge - Find out how this happened, Be able to learn archaeology, Restore Justice, Form tribes, clans or armies. etc. -Hitlist - Be able to pay people on a hitlist to kill people, or if you witness people kill someone the ability to report that. Bounty's etc. -Revamp zombies AI. -Some form of Unique "Professions" - Building, building your own houses etc. Electrician - Ability to fix electricity issues, Archaeologist - Dig up artifacts about the creation of the infection. Engineering - Repair cars, vehicles. and more. For each profession, you need to level up to gain boosts. For instance, Archaeology, reach level 10 archaeology to gain 5% chance of finding artifacts. -Auction House - Sell weapons, gear, equipment etc. -Humanity, reputation. - Be able to gain reputation from different towns, after 250 rep, you gain a 10% discount at stores within towns etc. Not exact just an idea. I'll add more Ideas when I get them.

Meanwhile, some people are having fun on 1.7.2.4 where vehicles and tents are saved after "almost" every server restart. Glitch, who cares, restart game time to time or active the flush, that's how I roll. Anyway, just saying.... ....I'm just here for the Tiramisu, thank you Matt, delicious as always. :)

From what I'm hearing from my friend Brian, the server was reset and all of our vehicles are gone as well as the contents in our tents. Talk about rotten luck :/ -
What's the point of helicopters?

This would be valid if helicopters were one time use vehicles. Once you get a chopper going you can ferry yourself and friends all over the map forever (once the vehicle save problem is fixed) until you're careless enough and get shot down or someone steals it. Just because you want instant gratification doesn't mean helicopters are useless. They're amazing for transportation. -
Hello, First of all I have to say what a game. I have never played anything like DayZ and the emotional response the game gives you as a player is incredible. Truly ground breaking and extremely unusual. There are obviously lots of things to iron out and tweak that I am sure you are aware of (inventory system, bugs etc.) and lots of features that will be added later but what I would like to suggest is a solution to two of the largest issues currently in the game which are unlimited player killing and the economy. I completely agree that the pvp system is essential to the game. The emotional response without it would just not be there. I am in no way suggesting removing it. What I am suggesting is to increase the value of life. Currently, the ability to store equipment seriously devalues life as the only punishment after death is a slight walk. I don't particularly have a problem with storing equipment and I understand why people do it but because some players have lives which are less important than others a system of maniac killing has developed which is detrimental to the ability of players to create the world within which we play. My suggestion to increase the value of life is to massively expand the map. Whilst 250 km2 is a large map, it is only 15 km on each side. As such, you are never that far from your stash or your group. The system as it currently is is similar to Tibia (when your corpse retains your equipped items but you can go back to your stash). A map with for example a 150 km trek to a stash would significantly increase the value of life - as well as the value of vehicles and other such items. I would suggest a map in the order of 10,000 km2 +. The landscape itself is irrelevant, there are large portions of earth with basically the same landscape for thousands of miles (the Eurasian Steppe for example). The key in my opinion is to increase the value of a life without forcing anyone to play in any particular way. Hopefully such a large map is technically feasible. Secondly, the economy does not work (as I am sure you are aware). There is an abundance of survival goods as well as equipment which again, devalues life. It is relatively easy to be fully equipped from scratch an hour or so after death. With the abundance of goods, there is little need to cooperate or collaborate with others [which is unusual as mainstream political theory holds that in a world with an abundance of resources conflict should be minimal, yet here we have a blood fueled anarchy]. Goods need to be far more scarce and I like your ideas on crafting and player created in game goods. It is vital though that the economy functions properly for the realism to hold together: a year after the infection the survivors would have looted almost all of the pre-infection goods and would be hunting, manufacturing etc. their own goods. Finally, I do think it is important that we are given as little information as possible. I do not think that a kill count is of much use - it is surely up to us to remember our kills or not. For the same reason I am delighted to see you removing bandit skins and possibly the humanity system. What has been created here is truly groundbreaking and I really hope that you can create the world which will continue to stimulate a player's emotional response. I think that increasing the value of life is the key to maintaining the unique proposition of the game. Thanks.

Hey dude i wouldn't mid joinin up. my skype is jesse.cardinal from farmington, mn. I currently have a dmr and l85 both with plenty of ammo. along with a PDW even thou i have been trying to find a m9sd cuz they rule. i don't have any vehicles yet but i am working on it. like i said check after two resets... I parked a heli on a roof it poofed after reset and then after another reset it came back. I also noticed it happened to the PBX's i saved on three different other servers. Granted the heli is not working like other vehicles, but the PBX sure is imo :thumbsup:

What's the point of helicopters?

Helicopters are primarily for transportation. You can go end-to-end on the map within a minute or two because of speed and the fact that you can take a direct route vs. up and over hills, around trees/obstructions, etc. The M240s mounted on the doors are of extremely limited use and really only best as suppressive fire. The desync issues in vehicles make the guns only able to be used about 75% of the time (the other 25% it looks like you're flying into the ground to the gunners). At reasonable speed to avoid the average sniper's fire, the M240s are incredibly difficult to hone in on a target. To get a good shot at a target with them you have to slow to speeds and keep a steady heading that make it fairly trivial for someone to snipe door gunners. If someone in the trees has an AS50 or M107, it doesn't take much at all to drop a chopper. THe other day a choper flew around in Cherno. They were over 1km out from my position and I couldn't see them due to whether (but could hear them). They coincidentally ended up trying to egress the city almost directly over me. I fired a few rounds of my AS50 into the chopper (aiming for the main rotor area) and dropped that thing like a rock even though they were going about 200km/h by then. Helicopters are a lot of fun to play with, but it also adds a layer of responsibility. They are much more difficult to hide given you need a reasonably sized FLAT clearing to land them. This makes them easer to spot by far as compared to ground vehicles/tents. The places you hide them generally mean if you lose it to someone you're in for a LONG hike back. I would love to see the addition of a very small capacity transport only (no mounted guns) helicopter that is more plentiful (2-3 per server) for the standalone. -
If it's like my server, vehicles are not saving. So it's probably back in it's starting spawn point.
