  1. I already made a suggestion thread about a non-lethal flashlight to incapacitate zombies and players. Now some friends of mine and me collected new ones and we'd be glad to read some opinion from the DayZ community. This ideas are made mainly for the standalone. So here we go. Equipment - Spike strip/caltrops: It's basically a chain enriched with thick nails that are able to pierce vehicle tyres (one, a couple, etc.) by putting it on road. Can be used to ambush an oncoming vehicle and can be removed with the toolbox. Another option might be caltrops that can be spread on the road by throwing them. - Personal diary: I realized that lot of players love to tell their story on forums, blogs ecc. So why won't feature an in-game diary that allows them to trace their life day by day? Every survivor lives a different story and a large number of situations: it'll be a pity that everything get lost once he dies. He should have a lot of interesting things to tell, and maybe you'll find he wasn't that kind of person you initally thought he was. This game is strongly based on emotions, and this feature can add an important shade in that sense. It'll be also useful to write memos and can be left around until someone else found it. Why remain anonymous when you bear the power of writing? Transportation - Sidecars: quad bikes are cool, but not as much as the sidecar. I mean, in a game like this, set in a post-soviet land hit by a zombie apocalypse, with broken roads and such a spirit of adventure... where are the great sidecars? I think should be great making it one of the few vehicles (or the only) on which a passenger can shoot from. - Seaplanes: An airplane may be too much advantaging in this game. But what about a seaplane? I think it's so exciting to find a seaplane: it increases the spirit of adventure and there's no way it can be offensive as long as it bears no gun. Also, it lands only on water (so it may have its advantages, but not as much as a common plane) and it keeps a particular sense of humor. Could spawn along rivers and big lakes mainly, but also on the coast. - Handmade rafts: If chernarus will be enriched with rivers and lakes, might be a good idea the possibility to create a raft with ropes and logs. Would be very useful to run down a river by its current, or rowing as well - Horses: Really, with all those farms, dirt roads and open fields the game ask for horses itself. Horse should spawn as a normal vehicle (maybe a bit more common) around farm and villages, needing a saddle to ride it (a normal loot as tyres and scrap metal for example). It should run at the max speed of 60 km/h and need water (lakes) and/or hay (farms, hay bales) to perform long distances as the vehicles do with fuel. (Random) events - Derailed train: it's the same as an heli crash site, but it finds its locations on rails around the region. Could spawn different loots (and zombies) and let the surviros exploring wagons and carriage looking for them. Also, it's possible to design different types of trains/wagons, for example military ones, civilian, medical and supply. I noticed that rail lines are located only along the coast. I suggest to extend a bit the binaries throughout the map with train stations and tunnels. - Aircraft carrier (crashed): I think the sea/ocean in this game is not exploited enough (more like, at all) but it has a great potential. For example, what about to place a permament (or random appareance) aircraft carrier ran aground somewhere offshore? Personally I consider this one of the best suggestions, because expand the experience also in the open sea, where survivor distrust to venture (cause there's nothing to find). The primary question is: it has to be random as an heli crash or stuck forever hundred meters from the coast? I won't dilate too much about this suggestion, because there are so much things to write that it will result in a separated mega-post. Spawns, shelters, zombies, vehicles, weapons, exploring... and so on. I just thing that's a must-have. - Cruise liner (crashed): It's the same as the above, but in a civilian way. Well... Rocket, what are you waiting for? - Wrecked tanks: Since chernarus host a devastated, large military force called in to contain the situation, should be destroyed tanks that can spawn randomly like the heli crashe sites. Maybe they could spawn along main roads of chernarus and inside towns instead open fields. - Random isles and islands: another way to exploit the sea it's to make a random island spawning system. Should be like 10/15 models of island (coming with different sizes, loots, buildings etc.) that come into sight while sailing. For example, a prison island, a hamlet, a holiday resort... Might also be permanent, I'd just love to see more islands! Class-making clothing May be interesting if uniforms, suit and clothing also give some active advantages. Here i explain what i mean: - Soldier uniform: It provides some slot added to inventory (3 maybe; not backpack) and gives you a little mimicry due to its colors. - Medic comrade uniform: Allows you to invest much less time for all medications to yourself and players and get 1 antibiotic when worn for the firs time. - Special forces clothing (Spetsnaz): Gives you the possibility (40-50%) to get a bit less damage from weapons and explosions. Attention: I wrote "a bit less", not "prevents all the damage from bullets". So I thing the percentage has sense - Hazmat suit (aka NBC suit): Gives you a percentage (25-30%) to get considerable less damage from zombies, and same percentage to avoid blood losses (only zombies). - Sniper suit: Simply very mimetic as it is now, and I think would be great if it adds also camouflage fabric to every weapon equipped (except pistols), as long as the player wear it. I've already noticed that lots of players dislikes the % advantages given by clothing, but I think would be cool if they gives you some abilities like the medic comrade one (less time for medications) or the NBC. Btw I think up them mostly for the "magnetic card" or "ID badge" that grant you an access to restricted buildings and facilities around the map (see below) Buildings and facilities - What about if the uniform/suit you found gives you also 1 access (by an ID Badge) to restricted areas and facilities? In my opinion that would be great. Can be for example a nuclear power plant or a genetic research centre that got damaged during the infection and if you wear a NBC suit you are able to explore it without get harmed by radiations/pathogens. The same thing can be performed with the medic uniform: grant you one access to the medical department of some facility as well. The soldier uniform will let you cross the threshold of that big and vast military base that you always yearn for. I've talked about an only 1 access per uniform in order to keep these places legendary and impassable, as long as give you big and various advantages. As suggested, ID Badges may also spawn as very rare/extremely rare loots apart from uniforms. This would be ok for me anyway, I just think that would be more realistic to find them in authorized personnel clothing. - Civilian airport: Not so much to say 'bout it. Should be large, complete and interesting as the real ones (maybe with crashed planes) - Armory: Sounds good to me to place an armory in every main city. Obv, it must be a civilian/sporting armory, not a military one. So it can spawn in high percentage ammo and pistols, and in low percentage shotguns, crossbows and hunting rifles. It's a zombie apocalypse... we need armories! - Police department: Make the same job of the armory, but it's bigger and can also spawn in low percentage sub machine guns. Moreover, it hosts much more zombies. - Mines + caves: A dark, cramped and intricate series of tunnels and underground passages that grant you assemble a safe shelter, or reach another place by passing through them. What about zombies, torches, stalactites and worn-out trails? Zombies - Some zombie model should show them mutilated or partially mutilated: one hand, a feet, an arm etc. This should enrich the horror side of the game. I mean both when you shoot at them dismembering them, and zombies that spawn already mutilated or somehow injured. - Many more types of zombie behaviors needed. Current zombies are too much predictable and boring. For example, some could just stay still showing their insanity until you annoy them, others can be really slow, but turning their eyes around much faster (or be just really slow but stronger). Some could try to grab your arms in order to block you, others can target you running at you, then change suddenly the target or run away. And so on... Weapons - Tranquilliser gun: I bet this has been already suggested 100 times, but I want to do my part. It's a primary weapon that shoots one dard per time, causing a progressive feeble screen shaking and color fading. If not cured with something after 1 minute, the player hit by the dard will fall unconscious for 15-30 seconds. After that, the effect will vanish anyway. Good for silence action and hunting but not for killing. Dards slot in inventory like the crossbow and provide not many damage (100-200 every hit). Spawns only in farms and deer stands, with a low/med percentage. - Cal .50 pistol: A rare and very powerful handgun that can compete with rifles and other primary weapons due to its damage potential. It should slots as a primary weapon. I suggest this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEi_m5jqak0 or the hackneyed and boring Desert Eagle. - Non-lethal flashlight: It was my first suggestion to which I dedicated an entire detailed post. It's a non-lethal weapon that incapacitates zombies and players You can find it here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/53608-suggestion-high-power-flashlight-as-non-lethal-weapon/ - Combat kinife (bayonet): A knife that player uses to harm as a melee weapon. Can be used as a bayonet on several rifles with a bayonet coupling (clutch). Rarity: uncommon (military, industrial). For the bayonet coupling: rare (military) - Bow: simply a common bow, useful to kill silently. Arrows slot in inventory like the crossbow, unless you find a quiver. Rarity: uncommon (residential, farm). For the quiver: rare (residential, farm). - Baton: a melee weapon adopted by the police. Rarity: rare (military, industrial) - Knuckle-duster: the only way to make your character throwing fists. Rarity: uncommon (residential, industrial). - Pitchfork: should be a classic in a game like this! Rarity: common (farm), uncommon (residential, industrial) - Pickaxe Rarity: rare (farm, industrial), uncommon (mines, if they will ever be implemented) - Decoy grenades: Very useful to disorient other players or zombies by making them hear gunshots from another direction. Rarity: rare (military) - Molotov: Of course this has been already suggested 1,000,000 times. It requires a jerry can and an empty bottle to be crafted, plus a box of matches for the ignition. Gameplay - I think would be good if a personalization of the weapon will be implemented. In particular for scopes and silencers. Should be 3 types of silencer: one universal for the pistols, one for the sub machine gun and one for the rifles. Sniper rifles, light machine guns and shotguns should remain unsilenceable. Silencers and scope must be rare (miltary) - The spawning system when reconnecting should be improved. If there's already a player near you while reconnecting, the character should be moved and spawned in another area that's safe. So many times, especially in cities, happen that players reconnect behind you or near you. So you can get killed by someone super-easily, or kill him as well. This is noticeable mainly when you are sniping on a building. Someone else spawn behind you and you die, or he spawns on another roof you already checked and shoots you instantly. Those were our suggestions. Let us know what you think! :)
  2. LOL, the story of my DayZ lives. I now just don't play it for a week at a time. Once a week I get the craving to get back into it... and I have to say that there is a serene beauty to when a server starts turning to night and the stars are coming out. I love that part of it. But, really, what else is there to draw us back to re-live the same fate over and over again? I tried random killings / ambushes in major cities, and it made me feel like a madman in real life. I have no doubt that I could survive a very long time with a canteen, matches, knife and hatchet to feed myself, so that goal or drive is gone. I'm not sure, then, what's left aside from making others miserable by stealing their vehicles and/or supplies (only to have them stolen from me when I go to sleep). Coupled with all of that, the hacks to die and respawn back at the shore without anything means only the crazy or people living in some illusion would continue to treat this as a game worthy enough to log into night after night once they've played it for a week or so.

    Nuke end game/ server reset

Took us 5 hours trying to find car parts for the ural in skalka, took us about the same with the helicopter in skalisty to fully repair it. An additional few hours trying to refuel it. Not to mention many other vehicles spawn in the middle of nowhere and take hours to fully repair and refuel. And after all that hard work, we loose the vehicles in a week or so. It will never happen, ever.

    Retention Dropping

I think some of it has to do with the issues we've had recently (tents, graphical glitches, scripters). Schools also been gearing up. Vacations just before school. But I think another overlooked but important factor is private servers. Being that they're seemingly becoming more and more popular especially with the loosening of restrictions on talking about them I think more players have shifted that way. Heck the group I play with which had 25 or so players and those of us still playing moved to a private hive to avoid the issues we were having on the public ones. And one of the guys running it fixed tents and vehicles ontop of things and is working on more fixes and tweaks. Our servers still growing, and I miss some of the higher pop stuff, but so far we've had two scripters, both of which were caught and dealt with swiftly, we've got working tents and vehicles, we've got our own little faction war with people claiming territory, a guy working on trying to fix some of the bugs...I mean? The only incentive I've got to get on the public servers is the really high pop ones and even then they're typically targets so why bother? And then you've got Lingor island...which is its own beast. So I think with those things becoming more popular people, plus the other factors, people are moving away from the public hive...

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Aye, this! I agree as much as anyone that the tents and vehicles not saving and resetting, as well as duping and hacking is frustrating to the point of sheer fucked up, but DayZ is still good no less. And I would strongly concur that development time put into the actual standalone game is priority to the mod, afterall, the more time is dedicated to the game, the better game we'll get, and as said previously, when that happens, all of this will be nothing but a frustrating memory, and maybe even a fond story to tell the newbies to wash up on shore in the months there after.
  6. maybe i missed it, did the devs mention anything regarding cheaters in the stand-alone ? the current game in the alpha is unplayable... every, and i mean EVERY server i play on, i meet one or several cheater who kills me or my group. this happens sometimes after some minutes, or after some hours, but in every case we get killed by cheaters. they instakill us, teleport to us and use godmode so we cant kill them, or use other shitty hacks. so, will the blatant hacking/scripting be stopped ? i heard that it wont be possible to script in weapons and vehicles, but what about the regular cheats like teleport and godmode ? are the devs even aware of the horrible state of this game ? are they going to implement effective ant-hack tools ? also i meet cheaters on private hives.. doesnt make a difference... battleeye is a useless piece of software... are they going to abandon it for a better tool ? questions over questions ( and some crying i know ) :D

    Stop fuel leak in helicopter?

This is false. Thanks to vehicles not saving in 1.7.2.5 and consistently respawning at their "initial" spawn location, I've easily been able to repair 3 helicopters in the past week. I can confirm that when you've repaired EVERYTHING, the fuel leak stops. This means: 1x Main Rotor Assembly 1x Engine Parts 4x Scrap Metal 8x Windscreen Glass Make sure you SCROLL DOWN on the repair menus for scrap/glass since there are more than what just shows up on the initial view of the action menu. The HUD in the helicopter DOES NOT show the status of all scrap metal repairable parts nor does it show the status of the windscreen repairs. So, the HUD showing "all green" means nothing at all when it comes to the helicopter being fully repaired to the point of no longer leaking fuel. Again, I've repaired 3 helicopters in the past week and can confirm they do leak like hell UNTIL fully repaired. Then, the fuel lasts forever it seems ;)

    Nuke end game/ server reset

@koze I think you're missing the distinction between nice and fair. It's completely fair for someone to repair vehicles (seriously, what do you need...scrap metal, a tire, a windshield, and engine parts...that's an hour or so of work) and then lose them in a week or less. It's not nice if it happens, but it's completely fair as long as everyone has the same opportunity to find and repair those vehicles later. I found a bike and a tractor in my first two hours of gameplay. And then I ditched the bike and blew up the tractor. This will never happen again because the next guy who found those vehicles put them in the debug forest a kilometer off the northern map and then decided never to use them again. Now new players will never even have the opportunity to find those vehicles while playing the game normally. It's not nice if it happens, but it's completely fair as long as everyone has the same opportunity to find and repair those vehicles later. So, I would still play DayZ if it happened. And presumably the OP would too. And we outnumber you two to one. :)
  9. being forced to walk, or to rely on your team to have transport arranged when you need it does add a lot to the game... traversing the highlands on foot still is a thrill to me, because you never know when you gonna meet that other guy currently running to Vybor/NWAF/Sobor.. if vehicles were overabundant, the map would suddenly become much smaller.. i love me bicycles though, fast, silent and basically indestructible, the most OP vehicle in the game :)
  10. Goof Juice

    What about adding AH-6X.

Would be nice, i feel so wasteful and to large of a target using most vehicles ESPECIALLY the UH-1H since i play alone alot. Would be a nice alternative to the Dirt Bike and Bicycle.
  11. Yeah ofc, it can be a bit frustating.. when i play with my friends, we often plan a meeting spot in the map. So lets say we have planned to game like 7 pm tonight, then at 7 everyone is at that meeting point.. and no its not hard to find your way to a meeting point if you have a map and some basic navigation skills :) and i also play alot alone. and often die while playing alone. so i have to run far to the meeting point, but its part of the game.. for the record i only play with 2 friends, mostly just 1. and we have fixed several vehicles, we use the method i talked about earlier.. with one guy carrying all the medic supplies food, and guns.. and the other the parts we need, while the other protects.. both guys have ofc a primary weapon
  12. I've spent a lot of time in the wilderness, and a fair amount of time around the edge of the map and in the empty area beyond, never found another tent/vehicle that a player had saved, well I've found a few tents but they were always empty. That was on of my objectives for awhile, then it turned to just finding all the spawn points for vehicles and fixing them up, going on joy rides etc... I was blaring music the other day through the in game microphone while driving along the coast, was good times... lol... But yeah I dunno. Most vehicles I find at spawns are very broken down and require a lot of time to fix, hard to spend all that time just for a 20 minute joy ride haha.
  13. Give yourself something to do... hunt vehicles and camps, giving yourself an objective spreads the time out.
  14. I don't even mean a base in that sense, just somewhere I can store stuff and meet up with friends... I know the area's I've stored my vehicles in weren't stumbled upon by legit players in the eight hours I was offline to sleep for lol... I don't know. Yeah that would be a sweet addition, and clearly one for the future right, but there's really no poiint in fixing up any vehicle that requires more than one or two pieces of gear, tires, engine parts, fuel lines, they all take up 6 slots, and you have really minimum gear slots, especially considering holding an extra weapon is 8 slots, then there's ammo which I try and have 6 clips of at all times.... You can't be prepared, with morphine, blood bags, food, water, ammo, an extra gun, and do -anything- else. And Tents/vehicle saving don't work, so even if you did spend all that time fixing up a vehicle, going back and forth between it and industrial spawns looking for engine parts etc, you'll only have the vehicle for as long as you're online, when you log off you might as well kiss it good bye. It's like why even have the ability to own a tent, or to save a vehicle, if there's no way it works. and this has been an issue for a long ass time. Either fix it or remove the option, stop dangling the proverbial carrot in front of our eager faces. :P

    Nuke end game/ server reset

If the army was still there I think they would rescuing you instead of dropping nukes. Also you've arrived after the aftermath, the infection is over but those who are zombies will forever be so. If there was a chance that there was someone out there to save you, they have already been turned into zombies. I do not think it is fair that people would have to spend hours trying to repair vehicles e.g ural near skalka and the helicopter in skalisty and then only to find that they will loose it within a week or so. Its not hard to find camps of vehicles, you just have to know where to go, I've found 5 vehicles just be guessing where people would put their camps. Also alot of vehicles arnt very well camoflaged so you can spot alot of them from a distance. Its not fair on everyone els, just because you cant find any cars doesnt meen that EVERYONE should loose their vehicles every week or so. In case you didnt know, there are many car spawns, you will not always find a car even though you visit the spawn point. Another thing is that there a new spawn points, some that are not yet listed on the dayz wiki. They are most likely there, you're just no looking hard enough. No one would play DayZ.
  16. That's what I'm more or less seeing now... There's no point even looking for stuff like night vision goggles, it just makes you a target for the hackers. Can't get vehicles, takes hours sometimes fixing them, by the time you fix them you gotta log off, and when you log back on they're gone... Tents don't save, or they save and give you unlimited items making them fucking stupid. No wonder people just run around shooting you on sight, THERE'S NOTHING ELSE TO DO. No wonder people hack, they spent the money buying ARMA2, they probably figure they're going to at least get a bit of fun out of it, and if they get banned then oh well they were sick of dealing with the constant glitches and BS and hearing nothing about anything ever getting fixed. But oh wait, there might be dogs. I don't know. I love this game. It's Alpha, sure, but the devolopers give us nothing, tell us nothing, and seem to ignore all the real issues while adding in new shit no one really cares about. I've been enjoying the game because I had the 'light at the end of the tunnel' but with tents and vehicles being completely borked, and absolute silence from the Devolopers about it, I'm just sick and tired of it. This isn't how you treat your community. It's the fans that matter, without us you wouldn't be working with a legitimate gaming company to introduce a stand alone that you stand to make good money off of... At least tell us what you think, let us know if things that are pretty much game breaking will be fixed or not. This last patch seemed to break a LOT more than it fixed... We need some way to build up a camp, or just store some loot. We need ways to deal with hackers, such as ALT F4ing that doesn't cause us to get teleported to the coast. I've never ever alt f4d in combat, most of the time combat is over before I'd even have a chance anyways, but with hackers.... I've alt F4d so many times, and to get ported wherever they send me, or to the coast if the servers decide I'm just trying to server hop... It's fucking stupid. Why did they do that, instead of focusing on real issues such as the hackers, or the actual gameplay...
  17. puppetworx

    Still haven't found...

Sounds like luck. I've been playing a few weeks and have found tens of Ghillie suits and Camo Clothing, never in a Military location btw. Cafes, red brick buildings or offices are where I've found them all. Usually I give them away though because they just make me a target. I found no vehicles for weeks and then I finally found an ATV, a few hours later I found a bus and a chopper too. Luck is all crazy and such.

    Just a little help please

Don't feel bad we cant add anything to our tents it goes by by when reboot the server our vehicles re-spawn and don't save anything in them and something keeps changing our time. not sure what but reboots only fix it half the time.
  19. Nozzy (DayZ)

To Joker and Co. on US 2581

here, have my beans! edit: Don't forget the resetting of vehicles everytime you restart the server!
  20. Guys - Join a Private Hive Server they are working like in 1.7.2.4 pretty much. We have one and tents and vehicles are saving fine as are the dogs - these things are awesome!
  21. Jex =TE= (DayZ)

    Saving vehicles and tents.

Because the server hasn't been restarted? We tested vehicles on our server and on a restart they spawn back at their original location all busted up with no gear in them.
  22. ubikPainKiller

    Nuke end game/ server reset

As far as i'm aware atm, when a server dose a restart the vehicles reset to ? well on our server they do anyway most server do a restart every 6 to 8 hours am i wrong ?
  23. The first time I got killed, I ran to a lighthouse, where someone was waiting in the door and shot me. Several deaths later, I realised you couldn't trust anyone. Now I shoot on site. You know, I could easily stay alive for weeks, with full equipment, ghillie, gps, nvg's etc. in the north, we have a camp and plenty of vehicles. I used to do that, but now I do not. I purposefully roam the cities and high risk areas. Why would you wan't to do the former? It is fun, and the adrenaline is good :D My goal is to get as many kills as possible. It is a plus when they have good equipment. When you die, you can just re-spawn, find a lee enfield, shoot a coward and take their better guns and equipment.
  24. Both are unreliable due to bugs in 1.7.2.5. Tents can only save in original states and vehicles will reappear in previous positions after restarts.
  25. reddeer01

    Saving vehicles and tents.

I'm in a backwards situation for some. On my server stuff saves in tents perfectly fine. But putting stuff in any of our vehicles and then going through a server restart makes the stuff which was originally inside of it disappear and be replaced by the items which were inside the vehicle when we found it... Kinda frustrating when you're on your way back to base camp and BOOM! restarts your have to find your vehicle only to know anything you had is gone. Hell; we lost a whole vehicle because of it. Literally no where to be seen after we spent so much time fixing it... Fucking Alphas >_>
