Average Life Expectancy lowered when in a vehicle
Edward b replied to alexthedude's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It appears that I need to educate you. To begin, your solution is irrelevant to the problem. Normally I would assume that you were being a dick, but I have to assume another alternative. See, you're here assuming that I was jealous of his "success"...where did that come from? Did I say or imply anything about his endeavors? I'll save you the trouble of answering such a complicated question: no, I did not. Well, I'm going to go out on limb here and assume that you can't handle someone who even slightly disagrees with you, even if it's minor or virtually nonexistent. Your entire post falls apart because you structured it around a stupid assumption. Had you been able to properly comprehend my post, you'd know that I was referring to the OP's error in hoarding vehicles. Is there anything wrong with that? No, there isn't. Hoarding vehicles is fine. However, you're going to have wasted your time when something like this happens. There's no reason to hoard those vehicles if they can be swept away so quickly with little notice. I'll wrap this up with your last point about me whining about the OP's success. Nowhere in my post am I whining; if you could point it out that would be wonderful. Otherwise, I ask that you admit that your words were wrong :) -
So, I use hacks, this is WHY
spankimus replied to manwitdaplan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Being new to the game right now while the tents/vehicles are broken and everyone who had them with stuff in it are getting it duped every reboot, I could understand the scripting in the weapons, although not condoning it. As for the teleporting to the people to kill them just because they shot you for no reason? Welcome to fucking DayZ. This is a zombie apocalypse. Getting killed for no reason, or for your stuff or even just to kill you was the point of the game. Now you're just cheating, and YOU'RE the asshole here. -
I'm sorry if this has been brought up before, I couldn't find anything relating to this so if any of you have seen something similar please leave a link and I'll put it in this post for others. At first I thought it was cool that you were able to leave a game at one position and spawn in the same position in that exact same spot. If you logged out in a safe area, the odds were that it would also be safe in a different server. Then I started to notice all the people that take advantage of that ability and abuse it. Usually with camps or vehicles and especially with the sniper hills in Elektro. It gets annoying after a while and I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks so. The suggestion I have for this problem is to make the player save locations specific to that server, and if the player changes servers then the game will reset the position and spawn them at the nearest town or city. Elektro snipers now spawn inside Elektro, players can no longer go to your camp position in another server and spawn directly into your camp, players can no longer server hop for airfield looting and some vehicle spawns. Example: Player disconnects from server 1; position A saved Player reconnects to server 1; position A loaded Player connects to server 2; spawns near city/town closest to position A Player disconnects from server 2; position B saved Player reconnects back to server 1; spawns near city/town closest to position B This is just something that came to me while driving back from work at 10:30 at night while my mind was off in lala land so obviously this isn't perfect but I feel like it's a good start. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks, StroupBSlayen EDIT: Similar topics One Character per Server Suggestion to Combat Server Hoppers Server Hopping and Ghost Flanking Solution

Server logs show the following error and the BAF OFFROAD do not spawn on my 1.7.2.4 server 11:50:32 Cannot create entity with abstract type BAF_Offroad_W (scope = private?) 11:50:32 Cannot create non-ai vehicle BAF_Offroad_W, player told me there is no baf offroad on the server for about 2 weeks, so i checked the vehicles and id's. there is a vehicle id safed/open for it but no spawn. can i do something to fix it or is it a hive issue whatever bug?

UNOFFICIAL PATCH NOTES 1.7.3 Now in beta. (Not real, silly people)
NonDescript replied to daedrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What did not make sense to me is removing AS50 and M107, and adding RPGs. If they added armoring to vehicles, having the ability to pierce that vehicle ammo with a 50 cal rifle would of been nice. NIce troll tho. -
So... I just broke -1,000,000 humanity.

Where did all this me triyng to showoff or be a badass come from? Look at my op. Where am I showing off there? I was pointing out how my humanity looks all messed up. Yeah, I'm holding a hacked in gun in my hand. Now where does it show or where did I say ALL my kills came from it? You guys all come in here probably pissed off from dying so much and want to throw all your blame at something. Also, what am I defending myself from? Angry kids who get mad at someone who is killing people and rage out at them on the forums? Please. I do know what the numbers mean. I'm not in 3rd grade. Just curious as to why they were used.. when someone clearly wouldn't be reaching the billions/trillions. As to you not liking my style, I am sorry. I do agree with you though, I don't necessarily like it either, but with the game being in the broken state it is... "Surviving in the wilderness" isn't the experience it should be atm. So, until some certain things are fixed (Vehicles/tents duping and not saving, artifacts galore at the nwaf, stary, balota, berezino and cherno) I'll continue my ruthless killing spree. It's the only thing that really entertains me currently in the game, and is well within the realm of rules and aside from the hacked in weapon, in the realm of the spirit of the game. -
Heya, ill keep it short and sweet. Theres a few of us (3-8 online on a random night) who wouldnt mind there being more of us. Mostly to roll in bigger numbers, a group of 8 consistantly would be nice so we may raid in bigger numbers. we have a server we dont hack we range from "hero's" to "shoot on sight bandits" (mostly shoot) we screw around (who doesnt like to jump atv's off mountains) we raid (serious time, tatical, no-schmucks) you need some experience (dont be the guy who somehow is unconcious and bleeding out because he couldnt handle the zombies he pulled) you need general DayZ knowledge (loot, vehicles, navigation) you need to be willing to learn AND teach. you need to be chill. (no one wants to game with a douchebag) I'll say we'll certainly talk with you before we just say "get in", to make sure youre not a danger to yourself or us. Mostly us... Add me on steam - Motofox

Community ratings / Rankings for servers to help identify dodgey servers
agippo posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
*edit, I just realised this is a long post, so if you cant read it all, my suggestion is to provide a community ranking / rating / review system for servers that can be seen by all players at the multiplayer login screenplayers to assist players to identify servers that have heaps of hackers, cheating admins, or are just generally rotten. Having a good server to play on is essential for the DayZ experience, and it seems enough admins abuse this privilege that this forum has an entire topic http://dayzmod.com/f...rver-reporting/ line devoted to reporting cheating/dodgy admins. I understand that more servers is better, but I have come across some admins that are clearly teleporting, spawning vehicles, kicking players for clan members and in extreme cases banning players for the crime of killing the admin in question. I admit it's nothing like as much of a problem as hacking, but hacking is just idiots cheating, where as admins cheating actually changes the whole field of play. To my mind, hackers are like your boxing opponent hitting you with a loaded glove (or a thermal scoped AS50 for a DayZ example). You almost expect cheating from players from time to time, because you know there are idiots out there. However admins cheating is to me, like the referee smacking you in the back of the head while you are concentrating on your boxing match, then the boxing commission fining you for headbutting the refs hand. I can live with cheaters, but its hard to live with cheaters who essentially represent DayZ. I understand that this game is so big they can no longer monitor all servers, so here is my suggestion: Institute the ability for players to “rate” or “review” servers they have been on. The ability to swiftly leave comments, or even a simple 5 star ranking system on each server would mean the community could police these things themselves, and it would free up resources at DayZ HQ. If in my login screen I could then get a meta ranking of this servers player comment, next to such details as Ping, server version etc. I would then have the ability to avoid servers with high reports of admin interference, or just high reports of hacking. I understand that there will be false reports, and even people claiming “hacking” or “admin cheating” when they are just useless and got themselves shot. Conversely, Admis may start a campaign for people to falsely rank their servers upwards. However this community ranking system would collect a lot of rankings, so overall the true nature of a server would show through. This sytem could even have a "minimum" overall rating, once a server got below that, then the DayZ crew could start looking through logs and issuing warnings. Ultimately I don’t care if admins want to cheat, or a server is overrun with hackers, I just want the ability to avoid these dodgey servers. -
I believe it was Sunday night, me and at least one other person got "Admin Ban" from US 2362. No warning, and no excuse for such a ban. Me and another player joined the server near Myshkino. We noticed the old hatchback was spawned in just south of Lopatino but it was completely trashed. I dropped some loot (food, bloodbags, morphine etc) and the other person dropped a AS50 with ammo in the hatchback to free up space. We split up and hit Lopatino, Pustoshka and Vybor looking for car parts. Made a couple trips back and forth to the car repairing it. We eventually hit the NorthWest airfield for the last few pieces and to restock on ammo. After raiding the airfield, we split up again because we noticed a few people joined the server. On our way back to the hatchback, I noticed the other player got "Admin Ban". Ten seconds later, I got the same treatment. No reason given other than "Admin Ban". We didn't raid any camps, steal any vehicles, and neither of us had illegal equipment. A completely unprovoked ban with no pretense. I would like to know the reason for the ban and proof of logs of our "illegal" activity. We spent nearly two hours on the server with no confrontation with any other players and we both lost valuable weapons. I would like an explanation. I've not been banned from ANY other servers, not even the global Battleye ban some are getting. We both are currently still under the ban.

Average Life Expectancy lowered when in a vehicle
Pyro_Marine replied to alexthedude's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Problem: Vehicles in the game get destroyed too easy and it has been mentioned by, Rocket. All we can do is wait. Solution: You stop being so jealous you can't find a vehicle. (Solution for your poor solution.) I don't even know this guy, but I'm not going to be a whiny bitch about his success. -
sounds alright ( i guess) but from the title, i thought the post was going to be about putting scraps of metal to protect your vehicles, which does sound nice.
-
I think the idea is sound, as long as there are other workarounds and hav ing "the key" to a car doesnt then mean you can just be a moron and leave it anywhere and expect it to be there when you return. If you find a car you should either need to find the keys, or have a toolbox, the toolbox means you can rig it to hotwire, however if you do hotwire it keys are then no good (except to lock the door) This means if you hotwire it, others can do the same. as for the car alarms, I dunno. thinking realistically, almost none of the vehicles I have seen in the game would normally have car alarms, ATV's, junky old utes, military trucks etc dont usually have the "screamer 9000" fitted, as their owners are usually not worried about having them stolen. The only few vechiles that would have alarms in real life would be things like the nicer pickup trucks. I do agree though that it is too much work to get a vechile up when they are so easy to steal. However the above posters point about allowing people to remove parts when they leave a car would fix this nicely also.

Average Life Expectancy lowered when in a vehicle
alexthedude posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've come to realize, if you're trying to keep your character alive as long as possible, do not get in a vehicle. I've died more in the last few days from vehicles alone, than bandits, zombies, and hackers combined. My friends and I had a good collection of vehicles going and we had decided to move the cars to our new camp site. We each had a vehicle and drove it towards camp, we might as well have been flying B-29's over Berlin we we're dropping so fast. Not that my friends or I are bad drivers, but it seems if you even bump something your car blows up. We had a little over 10 vehicles, and we're down to 2 today. It is a long trip from the car lot to our camp, but it is ridiculous how easy it is to blow up a vehicle. Along with the easyness of blowing up the vehicles, you also have people wanting your car. When anyone see's a moving car they instantly start shooting it, from jealousy or just the want of a kill, people will try to kill you if they see you in it. Thank you for reading what I have to say about the vehicles, please feel free to reply. -
[Suggestion] Some great ideas: from an aircraft carrier ran aground offshore to class-defining clothing
A.Shephard replied to A.Shephard's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Thanks for the comment. About %, you are right but surivors are equal only until they find a weapon. Then, there are people that have more advantages than others, due to their equipment, even suits (like sniper one, that makes you quite invisible). I think this game is based also on differences between gamers, with gears that make you a big danger for the rest of survivors or viceversa. As long as you can collect weapons, vehicles, skills etc. there's no way the players are equal (but this is the same for every multiplayer). Clearly, you have to play a lot and risk your life to find some clothing like those I suggested, just like pretty every military gear. Consider that I found ghillies really easily roaming in cherno and elektro, because they spawn in residential/civilian and that's just crazy. And what about badass weapons easy to find in the same way? % benefits comes with a long quest putting your life in constantly peril. They should be very rare and spawn only in military loots. Then, that advantages you gain will sound like a legit conquest. Btw your argument was interesting, I liked it. About preventing some damage only from zombies and not players, even with the "special forces" uniform: maybe the NBC suit could provide you a 40-50% of chance and the spetsnaz 25-30%. Your advice is good. About spawn points, I agree, but It should come with a revision of the chernarus geography. Thanks mate! -
Tents and vehicles not saving is a known issue with 1.7.2.5 (my van that survived the first restart has disappeared), about re-spawning with nothing, I think you tried to log back in to quickly before the server was ready, if you use DyZ Commander the server will have an hour-glass icon next to it.

1. Agreed. You shouldn't respawn with 0 humanity. The system was designed to let other players know exactly what kind of player you are. Currently bugged. 2. They were bandits. The humanity system is borked. 3. Negative. It was far more common before the skin was reintroduced. You are the victim of a bug in the humanity system. If you choose to shoot people now because you have a bandit skin, that makes you a bandit. Nothing is stopping you from raiding tent cities and searching for vehicles until your humanity comes back and you lose the bandit skin. Or just avoiding people. So what you mean to say is that the humanity system is bugged. Someone in a bandit skin is a bandit. There is no optional clothing skin to put on that makes you look like a bandit. Bandit Skins are fine, humanity system needs to be adjusted. If someone dies and respawns still in a bandit skin, it is due to a bug in humanity not the bandit skin. If a bandit dies, they are still a bandit even with 0 humanity. If you get a murder for killing someone in a bandit skin, it is a bug in the humanity system. So the title of your thread is a bit off. Bandit Skins are a great idea. Humanity system is borked.

Mi-17 is cool, yeah, but it's another big, clumsy helicopter, almost like a reskin of the UH-1H. I'm a fan of it, though. I'd like to see every server have two big helicopters and two small helicopters on it, at the very least. Since choppers tend to be fragile and difficult to operate/fuel/hide, and don't hold much stuff, I think that they can be counted on to be used and smashed on a semi-regular basis, allowing them to contribute to gameplay and not suffering the Ural's fate of "tent with wheels in a bush somewhere". Also, if we could arrange for vehicles to be disabled, but not freaking explode GTA-style when they're broken, that would help a lot. I hate driving anywhere, because if I come under fire, I generally don't have enough time to stop the vehicle and get out before it goes nova. I don't mind getting badly hurt when I hit a wall at 50km/hr, but some jerk shooting my engine with an M107 should be more of a, "Oh, no, everyone out and head for the trees!" sort of situation rather than a "BOOOOOOM" situation, you know?

New Server US2335 Private Server Open - Come join us
Jex =TE= (DayZ) replied to Jex =TE= (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
We're opening our server to anyone that wants to join. You will need to email us for a password, including your username so we can keep track of who is meant to be on the server so we can admin it efectively. We are banning the use of choppers and have taken measures to remove them from the game. Anyone found using a chopper will be banned from the server. Also, we don't want players hording vehicles as we want vehicles for people to use. This doesn't mean you can't have a few vehicles, but hording say 10 vehicles is not on (we will find them and drive them to random towns or destroy them). Barbwire griefing will also not be tolerated - you can lay it down for tactical purposes but to aggro other players is not acceptable. If you're interested, email us at [email protected] and we'll reply with the password and server rules that you will agree to when joining the server. We'll do our best to admin it fairly and we will not shoot you on sight (promise) We will however make you act out the deliverance scene if u start being a dick. Jex -
OK, now I am really dissapointed. I had just got the engine parts that I needed, as well as the above mentioned gear when I logged out waiting for the server to restart. I logged back in now and I got the "Wait X seconds to respawn"- screen with the server message that I just died. I then spawned at "wilderness" with no gear, looked like I was off the map (just plains as far as I could see). Logged out and back in, spawned at Kamenka, still no gear but somehow still in my ghillie suit. This really pisses me off since I have been hunting engine parts for several days and I lost NVG:s, Range Finder and GPS, stuff I never found before today. Is there any chance this can be rolled back or fixed somehow? I logged out 4 minutes before the server restarted and I had picked up the engine parts minutes before that. Is this a known issue? What triggers it? Is it just a random bug at server restarts or did I do something wrong? If this keeps up along with the tents and vehicles not saving my gear I will soon lose my patience and pick up BF3 again or something. :(

Ok, first off I was playing mostly in the dayz unofficial fan page server, it took us a while to wait for the server to restart or whatever so we decided to all migrate to a US server. There was a big group of about 15 of us repairing the bus in Cherno, we cruised around the coast occasionally stopping to give transfusions, eat, drink and scout the area. after about half an hour of this party bus rolling, we got news that the fan page server was open again, we decided to head back to Cherno so we would spawn there in the new server, this time I drove, pretty good I'll say... We then disconnected from the us server, leaving the bus at the gas station. However, when we logged into the fan server, the bus had followed us in? 0.O we then saw the other bus down th erode had spawned in Cherno, we then had two teams, one was guarding both buses, while the other scavenged for engine parts and fuel etc. We then finally got both vehicles working, I was driving the lead bus, we, again headed along the coast, getting shot at through Elektro and accidently running someone over, by this time we had a team of about 20 players, 10 in each bus. Unfortunately, bus no,2 hit some rubble and lost a tire, thus making that grup move to my bus. This is where shit gets real! We headed back the Cherno way along the main road when we decided to get a group screenshot for the page, we got out the bus and lined up saluting against the sunset, this was pretty epic with the amount of people we had. Now, I wanted to get out of the open but the teamspeak server was being spammed and I couldn't get my word in, I got in the bus as driver yelling 'get in this goddamn bus people!' most of them did, except about 5 guys... Then.... BAM! Explosion! I get knocked unconscious, fatally wounded and fell out the bus, a few other comrades were also hit, we all panicked and ejected from bus #1 I was luckily tended to first as the bus driver and lived, but Sadly, two other players died of shock and severe blood loss, as we all calmed down and the assigned medic went around checking people, we started to think about what the explosion actually was and from whence it came. We still don't have a clear idea, however there was a ghillied player with an underling grenade launcher that was spamming them earlier. We couldn't get back in the bus so I picked up an as50 and disconnected for dinner. Part 2- when I returned I spawned in next to one of the earlier passengers who had a broken leg, I offered to conduct a rescue mission, in which I would sprint to Cherno, grab some morphine and return to him while he covered the bus. However this didn't go to plan as I was headshotted in Cherno due to my lack of caution. I was on teamspeak to other players in Cherno who were friendly so I managed to get my kit back and somehow grabbed some morphine through the graphical artefacts I was wading through. I then met up the the friendliest in Cherno and we headed back to the bus, only to Hear that the guy I was helping had lost a gunfight with an intruder but did manage to put a few rounds in him, this angered me as I had risked my gear in Cherno for over an hour trying to help. This news made me be more strategic as I ordered 2 people to go to the bus on the tree line side and me and another on the beach to surround the enemy, but when we got there the guy had also died from blood loss, we then met up with another groupso we were now about 7 strong and we headed east to get to the chopper spawn on the island, we stopped overlooking Elektro as I spotted a player on the fire station roof, looting a corpse, we then lost him in the trees, I had a thermal. As50 and then spotted another player sat right on sniper hill looting a zed, I couldn't get my zeroing to work and the thermal sight had no mil dots so I ranged the target and estimated my shot which was at 700 meters, I fired and he instantly died as I was taken aback by my pure luck, my team congratulated me on the shot as two of em moved in for the loot, unfortunately when we were too busy scouting Elektro, the fire station guy from before had somehow flanked us and killed three of us because I wasn't told that the one mag I had for the as50 that I was given had just 1 round, I aimed at the guys head but I heard a Click and died. Since then I got my kit back, we got revenge and eventually aborted due to a hacker. Now you had to be there for a lot of this but it was an awesome days... Dayz Congrats if ou bothered to read this far, constructive discussion only please :)

Why does every sniper I shoot at ALT-F4?
corbon_hydrashock replied to Jackftw's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why? I'll tell you why from my experience with the guys I play(ed) with - it takes too long to duplicate all that gear, or to run back to their very-out-of-the-way camp to re-gear with duped stuff in their tents. I gave up playing with them to just stick around cities and kill people with whatever gun I find, but that's the honest truth as to why they abort. There is a secondary reason that one of my group displayed, and that was that he demanded encounters be on his terms. Problem was ... he failed every one of the few times he tried, and generally plays all night, nearly every night, on servers with less than 10 people on them trying to assemble or steal vehicles for no other goal than having them, bragging, and maybe picking up someone from the coast once in a while. This type of player comes straight from Arma gaming where they only fight against computer generated enemies. One shot in our general direction and instead of sticking around to let the cards fall, and perhaps win it, I'll hear "About! Abort!" on teamspeak and he'll be out of the game before anyone. He is proud of his 14 or 15 day streak of being alive... I negate that by not caring if I don't live an hour as long as I am not playing a boring life. -
So cars would be missing wheels, fuel parts, engine parts, glass etc.. but not the keys? Hm.. also.. i reckon you should be able to booby trap vehicles.. just in case some sneaky guy tries to take a nice go at hotwiring my hippie van >:( EDIT: Maybe with grenades or satchels :3
