You've checked all 8 helicopter spawn locations consistently after the 7th day and know for sure that no one else has found/repaired it after respawn and hidden it in their camp? Impressive :P I sure hope you weren't just checking the initial spawn location for brand new servers (Skalisty Island) and expecting it to respawn there. ;) I'm conflicted on the 7 day thing. You want it to be long enough so that people aren't reckless with vehicles and treat them like disposable cars/helicopters. But, it doesn't take much to knock a chopper out of the sky (nor should it -- they are fragile) and you can quickly end up never having a full compliment of vehicles and only having some small fraction of vehicles spawned on the server at any given time. I think it's a matter of just being proactive and making sure that you or another skilled squad gets the vehicles first instead of some random lone wolf who has never even flown an ARMA2 chopper before and thinks it'd be fun to repair and fly it. The game should always allow for such a retard to do it, as it's on the responsibility of the squads with proper pilots to find and repair it before those people do.

Missing vehicles and tents.
Pennyworth (DayZ) replied to zappyspocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Same thing happened to us on our clans server. had about 3-4 tents full of multiple "Legit" items along with 2 atv's 2 dirt bikes and the military UAZ. Logged in yesterday morning to see it all sitting in our secret base camp location. Log back in after work and the tents are gone along with all the vehicles.. Had a Ural stashed west of our camp, like way west off the map, it was also gone. Definitely not a simple case of someone coming and finding them/taking them. Would honestly prefer it if someone took them over a bug deleting//resetting them -
Duping gone please, ruining the game.
chodeofwar replied to JimmyMeatsock's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I dont really care if the tents are duping hacked items or are completly legit. I destroy them or drop the items on the ground. I have checked back directly after a restart and and again later and every tent i have done this to has not continued to dupe. This not only goes for tents but all kinds of "dangerous" loot i find. I would like it if there was a lot less loot floating around, at the moment its disgustingly easy to gear up. There really needs to be a full wipe for all players/tents/vehicles as soon as the problem is fixed. -
UK 22 Server (I was a fan, but NOT now)
AnnieGYG replied to hallgraeme's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Many servers have this problem when they auto reboot, no tents and vehicles. Next restart they will probably be all back again. Edit: ninja'd - beans for you :P -

happened to us a few times too, with our whole camp(including vehicles) was gone, but one of the following server restarts fixed it every time! just be patient and you will have your camp back! the game is still in beta so we have to understand that things like this will happen and its not the end of the world! starting from(almost) scratch can be thrilling too!!

Lingor Island Vs Chernarus, which one do you prefer for a private hive?
[email protected] replied to devilsnight's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Lingor does tend to have less whiney noobs. I agree with that, and it's a nice way to do something different from chernarus, but you can't just wait for everyone to get all the gear they want then say, "Ok let's fight now, cause its fair." In order to survive, you want to have an unfair advantage. Also, lingor gets just as many hackers as chernarus, I even found a Us server that has a hacking admin, with a clan he supported that had hackers too. I'm also not sure what you mean about more functionality, but don't mislead other players, lingor can be very fun and I do like it, but it has more issues than chernarus does. There are many vehicles, buildings, and spawns all over the map, which causes the server to become unstable rather quickly. As a result, it can and does slow down the server considerably, which increases load times significantly. Also, the map is smaller, and the way the buildings and terrain are situated in lingor, does not allow, any good spots to hide vehicles or tents, which isn't a big problem, because of the many spawns, including military, around the map. What ends up happening is it turns into more of a pvp style map, where you encounter players more often, which can be good or bad depending on who you are. All in all, I still really do like lingor, and if server restarts are done more often, and it has good admins, then it helps a lingor server out considerably. So, in response to this thread, when it comes down to it, I can think of dayz without lingor, but I cannot think of dayz without chernarus. It's also why I host it on a private hive, but if you are worried about players on your server, it won't matter which you choose, people will come to play regardless. The Finders private hive -
[Video] Lazy DayZ - Tutorial 01: ArmA 2 Editor
rupertpupkin74 posted a topic in New Player Discussion
This tutorial for the ArmA 2 Editor details a quick and safe way to practice using all of the weapons and vehicles you will encounter in DayZ while playing on the Chernarus map. This is the ultimate sandbox in which you can familiarize yourself with the controls and other aspects of the game that you will need to survive in the harsh world of the zombie apocalypse. This is a more concise version of my previous tutorial for the ArmA 2 Editor. -
Regular players "lost" to private servers?
4Lex replied to duggedank's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Pvt servers are okish but most can be just as bad as HIVE because of the clans that run them. They exploit, wipe entire databases if they have camps and vehicles stolen, restart server just to get loot, vehicles and avoid death (Session Lost). Its just another way of cheating. For instance, today i logged into RINAUN PVT SERVER only to find out they wiped the entire database, i lost a decent character with ATV and some average gear that took me roughly 2 weeks to build. I mean, RINAUN is a whitelisted server with passworded lobby, 24/7 admins and close to no hackers at all. Its a really strick sub-community of dedicated mature gamers. Im not really complaining, im sure they had their reasons to pull the plug and reboot, still i didnt die to the hacker i died to the ADMIN. There's really no escaping it at this point, hopefully stand-alone will put aside all these negative aspects of DayZ. -
Addressing "DayZ Game Mechanics thread".
SillySil replied to gambles's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is something to pretend, You are pretending there is a huge issue with people judging bandits, there just isn't in the current state of the game, it's minor. Everyone is raging about hackers, bugs, hell I haven't even seen man shoot on sight threads recently. I have already addressed that "once the standalone comes, assuming it carries over all the mechanics just gets rid of scripts and duping, the issue will be back on top." Then why not shoot at something challenging? they are the same people who are complaining (crap ton of threads about this) that end game is boring. So instead of looking for competitive suspenseful fun they kill defenseless survivors that is about as hard as shooting a goat? doesn't add up. Unless they are griefing. What you're saying doesn't add up. People with high end gear go to cherno to shoot defenseless survivors but don't bump into each other making high end gear vs high end gear? Cherno and electro are PvP zones. People who want to fight go there. And they shoot everyone. Freshspawns included, either just to be sure it's not the guy who they've just killed who's going to find first weapon and try to kill them back, or just for the sake of killing defenseless people because the guy is bad at the game and probably would die in a real firefight. The first ones will say that end game is boring while the other guy doesn't even understand the term end game. Skin is subjective yes, but most people find it much more appealing than the bandit. And I guess the vest is nullified since most bandits have tents duped full of gear. Small arms should be relevant. Even without the duped gear, only freshspawns or a surprised lone sniper would use small cal to PvP. It's just a very minor thing. I stated that sandbox games are molded by the community (Look at eve OPEN YOUR EYES) and look at the very definition of it. EVE is made by the community because the game offers you many ways of playing and they are all rewarding so people are free to choose what they like and not what's more and less advantageous. That's because game mechanics are complex compared to DayZ. Dude you should open your eyes. Take quake, increase the map size 100 times, remove the scoretable, give option to share your weapons and add some weak AI enemies guarding pick-ups. And you pretty much have all DayZ mechanics. Just different graphics. And before the point flies over your head. No I it's not all the game is to me. But those are all the mechanics that we all follow. Community can't change that. Devs can. Freedom to roam do what as you please, I can go to NWAF naked, I can shoot you, I can help you, I can spend all my time building a base, or I can spend all my time hoarding vehicles. There are tons of objectives you can set for yourself that have no pre-requisites on level or class or anything of the sort. There will be even more come later in the mod and eventually stand alone. I have already addressed that. You can ignore all the game mechanics it doesn't make you free of them. You're still going to die if you don't eat. You're still going to be fucked if you break your leg. You're still going to be shot and killed. The game mechanics set what's profitable and what isn't. For instance swimming isn't profitable. Good luck changing that with community laws. The game mechanics define what will people be doing in the game. Giving no downsides to killing people on sight automatically makes a lot of people shoot on sight. The same way if you put an overpowered gun into a game most people will use it. You stated it wasn't a sandbox I proved it was. It's relevant to morality because sandbox games often don't punish the player themselves with game mechanics, but let other players do it. I don't see how you have proven that community makes the game in DayZ. Because that was your definition that I've said is not true. I didn't say that DayZ isn't nonlinear or freeroam. Stop making it look like I did. A sandbox game doesn't put restraints on people that say "if you are bad you will be punished" they let other people judge you for what you do. That's the point of a sandbox, it doesn't shove rules down your throat it lets the community decide those. This makes absolutely no sense. So it doesn't punish being bad but it punishes people for being good? That's the fucking problem. It punishes a certain playstyle. You're saying that sandbox games don't do to "bad" people exactly what they're doing to "good" people. Don't you see a contradiction here? You're saying that sandbox doesn't shove rules down your throat, how is encouraging a certain playstyle going with that? That's my point. The "sandbox that doesn't shove rules down your throat" (I'm going to word it like that or else you'd just copypaste the link from wiki instead of addressing the point) shouldn't favor a certain playstyle. It should be entirely up to personal preference to chose the way you wanna play. And no, choosing between getting 5$ and 50$ is not matter of personal preference. I was referring to real life, I thought you would have caught on when I mentioned law and stealing your identity...guess not. But just like in real life the game can't punish you for killing people other people do that. Understand? I didn't think you were referring to real life because thinking like that makes you a sociopath and that you should seek help. So the law is the only thing that stops you from stealing in real life? Either you have no morality or your argument makes no sense. And in case morality is an abstract concept to you in real life, morality would tell me not to do bad things (something that we don't have in DayZ btw) and if I did do bad things, it would punish me for that. With horrible feelings about myself, depression, insanity or suicide. It isn't, and nothing should. You should be free to do as you please when you please until another PLAYER(s) steps in and stops you or brings you to justice. But the same way the game tells me it's good to have a morphine in my backpack it tells me that it's a good idea to shoot people on sight. If I were actually free to choose, both choices would be equally beneficial, only my preferences would be influencing my choice. Or you can not play like a retard? You're just as likely to get shot shooting first as you are not shooting first. A million and one things could go wrong, you could miss, shoot a player with many friends close, make noise so you attract other players, a ton of things. Why do you assume I'm more likely to be shot cause I don't shoot first? If I come around a corner and there is a guy DIRECTLY in my face with a gun im probably going to shoot as is he and this is the only time when not shooting first would do me in. If they see me first before I see them and shoot the point is moot cause i'm not seeing them, and if I see them from a distance before they see me than I can study behavior and decide to shoot, flee, or approach depending on a number of factors such as, do they have a weapon? what kind of weapon? whats the effective range? are they a bandit? You're over simplifying the subject when you say not shooting on sight will get you killed because shooting on sight has its drawbacks to. Not shooting on sight just requires more tactful play. And not a call of duty see guy shoot guy mentality. First of all you're the one simplifying. Kill on sight might suggest that I shoot at people the moment I see them. But I don't. If I'm out of position I won't shoot. I'll start shooting when I have the upper hand or I have to shoot cause they saw me. KoS means that I consider everyone I don't know an enemy. It doesn't mean that I can't play smart. And secondly I have already addressed the Why do you assume I'm more likely to be shot cause I don't shoot first? " You don't have to "walk up to a guy who's pointing a gun at you" to be at a disadvantage. Simply by not shooting him on sight you put yourself at a disadvantage compared to just killing him. Even if you are super amazing at sneaking and you're totally controlling the situation the chance that you're going to die is greater than if you'd just kill him." That's exactly what you are saying. You are saying there is no possible way that playing as a hero is as efficient as a bandit. But they both have there perks and drawbacks, firing first does NOT always make it safer for you. You're failing to even realize that some people may have found a different way to play than you. You're sitting there typing "The way I play is superior to surviving" when it simply isn't. There are pros and cons to both. Two different styles, being a hero is only harder if you try to be a hero by approaching situations like a bandit. There is more than one way to play and succeed at any game. Your assumptions are killing your ability to comprehend what I'm actually saying. Overall yeah it's not as efficient because you risk more often. And yeah firing first always make it safer for me. Someone who's dead can't kill me nor he can tell his friends where I am anymore. And no I completely understand that people have found a different way to play, I've tried it. Kept getting shot at and backstabbed. Decided it's not worth it. And you are making a false assumption that I'm feeling superior. I don't. I'm a KoS bandit only because it's more beneficial. If the playstyles would be equally hard/easy I'd probably be a bandit hunter and help survivors. And yea there are many ways to succeed, just some get you faster there than the others. So now you went from saying there is no reward for playing a good guy (I can quote you on that) to there is. Quote me. Go ahead. I've never said that because it wouldn't make sense in my head. If being a good guy had no reward whatsoever then people just wouldn't do it. And guess what you will probably get shot in the back more then me now with that bandit skin on, as many MANY bandits are complaining about on the forums. My point is that you have no point when saying it's more efficient to play as a bandit. Overall more easy learning curve? yes. But with tactful play being a hero and shooting first only when it is needed, is just as efficient. So is it easier or it isn't? If 2 people equally skilled would be playing those playstyles which one would die less and get gear faster? You can't compare a moron bandit to a pro hero. And it might be equally efficient in a certain case because some guy might give you a full inventory for helping him, but will it always be like that? Guess what for every kill I get full inventory. Do you find DayZ challenging? as a bandit? maybe if you want a bit more challenge you could try the other road less traveled. We have all been bandits, at some point. Very few have given a shot at dedicating there play time to helping others. I was friendly at first then I turned bandit. And there is no fucking way I could go back now because it would take me months to get my humanity back and I don't think I'd enjoy months of: respawn, hospital, death, respawn, hospital, help a guy, death and so on. See now you just proved your a dick by insinuating I can't read after I have been replying to your posts all day. No game needed and your a bandit, what a coincidence. You went "and what the fuck are you trying to win? WHAT GAME ARE YOU PLAYING?! how do I win at DayZ?" while replying to a quote that contained "(or in case of DayZ not to loose)". I have every reason to believe you can't read. And it's just an objective observation, nothing dick about it. It's like I'd say "I hate fruits (except apples)" and you'd go on a rant how can I hate apples. Do you even know what rules are? and you tell me I can't read. Let me give you a hint, rules (especially in games) aren't optional. They are things that have to be followed. The rules. The rules say I can't travel under the map, so I can't travel under the map. That's a rule. Whether I carry medical supplies around and a weapon isn't a rule, is it wise? hell yes. Is it a rule I have to follow in game? Obviously not. In many games not like DayZ they force weapons into your hand of some sort or say you can't kill that npc or you can kill that npc. The only rules you are bound by are that of the game engine which unfortunately at the moment doesn't allow us to build houses. But those are not really rules as much as they are limitations of the current state of the game and subject to change. Rule not as in game rule that you have to follow but "A generalized statement that describes what is true in most or all cases" Eat or die. Have morphine or you'll be screwed once you break a leg. Have a gun or you won't be able to protect yourself. Etc. Hey if you wanna role play that's on you. But it doesn't have to. Not if you change your goals and outlook on the game. My goals or outlooks on the game can't influence the mechanics. I have friends too, many, but I like making new ones, like a lot of people in life. And I like that there is some risk in meeting new people, betrayal can be an experience to enjoy and learn from each time. The gear in game is currently very easy to get so experience with the game are what many seek out now. Agree but for me the chance of dieing was just too high. I've been killed or shot at 4 out of 5 times when I was friendly. Once again with the dickery suggesting I take pills. Ok Mr. Bandit. It doesn't fit? lol. You go into unprovoked rage and rants. And when you do that you're often wrong about the thing that you rage about. You don't think the mechanics in eve support killing on sight? you do realize there are people who live on that in low sec right? like that how they succeed in game. Sigh... Are there people in EVE doing other things and are those things equally beneficial? If killing on sight was the favored gamestyle almost everyone would be doing just that. The choice is purely personal preference now. You state your goals to yourself like so "I want to help people" then you set out in game and do that. Or you say "I want to kill people" and you set out in game and do that. No it's not as long as one thing is more beneficial than the other thing it's not purely personal preference. It's like saying that choosing between 5$ and 50$ is a matter of purely personal prefference. 1. I have been reading the forums for about two and a half months or so. When I first came into the game the hacking was AS bad as it is now, but an issue. From what I read of the past of the game before my time is that shoot on sight was actually less common than it has been in 1.7.2.3 - 1.7.2.4. Or at least that's what many say. I don't know then you must have missed all those threads. Seriously every second thread was about asshole bandits. 2. If you're making a thread that you have no steak in and you're not one of the people who cares about it why would you make the thread? It doesn't make much sense. You seem to care very much about how people talk to you online actually and what they think. I don't care what people think about me. You can think that I'm a sociopath in real life for all I care. What does concern me is that there are people who consider players who make other players loose in a game immoral (in real life)(and the logic behind it boggles me not the fact). And I also wanted to show people the game mechanics (without the setting and assumptions). And show them that the reason for banditry is just mechanics. And that the game design is actually really basic. 3. You're absolutely right, the way most bandits play is irrational. I much enjoyed your link. There is no sandbox issue, and not everyone follows the flawed logic in your link. There will always be people playing their own way swimming against the tide in every single game. And you're thinking really short term if you think that we should be all cooperating. This would make the game extremely boring. The game needs bandits, I just don't like it saying that it's a better idea to be a bandit. No one thinks your a sociopath, or at least very few, just a dick. You don't thinks people exaggerate and overstate things on the internet? In this thread alone you told me I can't read and to take pills. And I hope you weren't serious about the pills thing as that would be a bit screwed up wouldn't it. There are people who think you are the same exact person in game and in real life. I talked to those people. They weren't exaggerating. And "you can't read" was justified, see above. And "take pills" meant "calm the fuck down". -
Duping gone please, ruining the game.
trichome (DayZ) replied to JimmyMeatsock's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
That does not always work. We've have destroyed tents by various means and after a restart they are back full of gear that has duplicated itself so instead of having say an M4 SD, and M107 in the tent after a restart there's two M4 SD's and two M107's. Tents and vehicles are seriously messed up atm so I think your wrong to think everybody is duping there not it's a bloody bug. Your really wasting your time if you think your getting rid of all the gear.Best would be to do a db wipe on items and gear and just leave the gear that each player has on them after they fix the bugs. Until then you'll be doing nothing but emptying tents and saving them when you could be playing DayZ. -
Looking for a lingor island private hive
spex replied to merrfack's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Search for Vi 400 in DayZ Commander. We have a Linger and a Chernarus server on ViLayer's hive. Our Linger server has only been running for 2 days so a lot of the vehicles are still up for grabs. The majority of the time I'm sitting at my desk keeping an eye on server chat and the logs. That way I can deal with hackers almost instantly. I'm also contantly checking loading times and when they get more than 3 minutes I'll do a restart. Plus we have a public Teamspeak that people in the server jump in. You're more than welcome to come give it a try. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Official Thread: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/87582-vi-400-usa-official-thread-new-lingor-server-911/ -
ArmA III(DayZ stand alone) engine improvements
rekrul replied to Charles Darwin (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You obviously have no idea of what you're talking about. A2:OA was released June 2010 and is still heavily developed, but you don't make it very clear what they're supposed to fix either. Losing (all) their govermental contracts wouldn't make it better as most of the new features are coming from VBS2, like FLIR in OA, tons of vehicles, etc. Also, the A3 team and BIA (doing VBS) teams are the same size now, both counting about 100 heads each. They've also added a lot more than lightning and physx. By the tone of your post I'm guessing you're sitting on a global ban? Rocket has said that with the stand-alone they're able to cherry pick the features they want from the engines (and I believe he mentioned lighting as an example, but that doesn't have to mean much) and code their own modules (like inventory which is one of the first things to be totally revamped and coded from scratch). It's still the same engine at core, its just what modules will be included and what will be made that is going to be different. And of course to close it down to combat hackers. -

Lucky man! Played the game 2 months and only seen 2 in the sky, one crash when trying to land when spotting our vehicles, never seen one on the ground.

the doors in your world must be all made of paper and sticks then, but here in the real world doors come in many shapes and sizes and types, hell most homes come with multi locks that hold back law enforcment door pinches never mind you and your big foot. then look at some of the metal doors around the map try kicking in one of those your leg will snap, shoot it and the bullet will rebound and gratz you just head shotted yourself. I second the idea of being able to lock things, personally I think all vehicles should require a key, and that a player with the key should be able to just get in and drive, a player without a key should need to get the key from the other player either by asking or killing and taking it, if a player logs out and does not come back in a set period of time, say 48 hours then the key should respawn inside the car for some one else to take.

Hey, an interesting post, lost of ideas... I'm sure many will be raked over and many are repeats of other ideas already posted... But for what its worth, here are my 19 two cent pieces on the items you raise.... "idea 1: make zombies fast indoors but let players have a certain amount of time before the zombies break through the door. (if the door is closed)" I really don't like this, making them slow is currently one of the few early/poor gear game ways to shake chasing packs of zombies, and seeing them slow is normal, they roam outside, they are clumsy and their eyes are poor, so seeing them slow down seems more natural and to my mind seems to aid the game and realism... Plus being cornered with no way out, scratching your nails down the wall paper as three slowly corner you is so much better, thrilling, than just being run down by them. Plus game-mechanic wise, it seems to me rushing zombies break your legs (least this is my impression) so if they rush into a house and break your legs all the time, its going to get very tiresome. "idea 2: let players push furniture against windows and doors to help prevent zombies getting in." In the current ArmaII engine this is a real no-go area, with barbed wire and rocks breaking legs, not to mention small walls and steps making your stand up at random, putting more stuff in the way is going to be bad. Plus the physics of calculating it all is pretty intense. And this is not to even mention how we all already hate barbedwire hedges being put up blocking doorways, with people able to move furniture it'd just become a griefing arena, a tiresome nightmare. "idea 3: a block button should be added so suppose im about to be slashed by a zombie i can press F to block the zombies attack." Fine, but... this means we'll all have broken arms as well as legs... Zombies hit hard, very hard, they don't care about damaging their own bodies, blocking though an option is going to be pretty grizzly for the receiver of the hit.... "idea 4: add the ability to kill zombies from behind." You can kill zombies from behind... Just a hatchet, a pistol, a rifle, a sub machine gun or an assault rifle... works like a charm... But, if you mean something like choking them... some of them don't seem to breath that much anyway, they gurgle and flop their heads around, so there's plenty of broken necks, plenty of low pulmonary users out there with very grey complexions, who are super strong and would simply turn around in your feeble Vulcan Nerve Pinch and slap you silly... "idea 5: hunting knives should also be a used for killing people and zombies." I agree with this one... "idea 6: if the player has a knife let him be able to stab or stealth kill players if he is close enough (everyone can do that)." Okay, this is a repeat of number 5.... And as for stealth... Press left shift while you walk, crouch or crawl.... Or play at night, you'll soon realise, you already can "stealth" about... "idea 7: shovels pipes and kitchen knives should be added as weapons." I like the idea of a shovel, and personally think you should have to have a shovel (or entrenching tool) to hide bodies - because I'm tired of snipers sitting above Elecktro shooting the innocent and then hiding the bodies of the zombies they attract. As for pipes... erm... Why?.... And... what is it with your fascination with knives, this is the third mention of them already... Get into spoons man, they're safer. "idea 8: houses should be more detailed such as sinks and cupboards in the kitchen forcing players to scrounge through the shelves and the cupboards to find bullets and food." Fair enough idea, we all like graphical detail, but as we all already know, and as I've already mentioned in this post, the current ArmaII engine is rather poor at getting us stuck on stuff, to the more bric-a-brac we have lying around the more we're going to get stuck... Detail is fine, but sticking and breaking legs on junk is bad. That said though, remember the zombie apocalypse has come about... The place is going to be messed up, and as such I think the map/details such as this are just fine. I will however say some of the door ways are terribly thin... "idea 9: more realistic weapon damage on zeds example 2 shots from makarov to zombie=dead after all they arnt those shitty shitty head shot requiring romero zombies." Lets parse this one again... Realistic... damage... Zombies.... Whats real... I think the balance is right in most cases, there are other threads around commenting on specific weapons, but you shoot a zombie in a head with anything and it falls down, you shoot it in the butt and it'll kick yours back a foot for your trouble... and that's part of the game, and an effective one... I like the one shot to head thing... And the zombies in DayZ ain't Romero zombies, the latter are dead, whilst Rocket has stated the Z's in Cherno are alive just infected... "idea 10: container ships stranded off the coast should be added with a small zombie crew but food and medical supplies on board." Don't like this, there's only one square of water tile out there (map-wise), they'll become havens for people to grief and snipe the shore and cause all sorts of imbalance on the shore line, which is already am important start point... so you're simply suggesting to add something to enable more advanced players to grief the inexperienced/new players putting them off... which is a poor game mechanic... and pretty bad business for the user base as it'd put people off. "idea 11: naval ships off the coast or at naval docks with medium grade military loot and MRE'S." Ner, see Point 10... Are ships the next knives, are you going to mention them like fifteen times? "idea 12: i know this has been suggested before but roaming packs of zombies should be added." A fair point, one made in other posts to more effect and with reasons to back it up... This isn't a suggestion which bothers me personally, but I'd like a pack of Zombies to have a reason to be wondering the woods... Perhaps we can dress them like the guys in Deliverance? "idea 13: (already suggested by me 3 weeks ago) add gas stoves for cooking tinned food to increase the amount of blood you get from the food. (stove requires gas to operate)" Where are you going to get gas supplies, the electricity if off... Natural Gas network and water network also, one assumes... I could see maybe a camping stove to be added would be nice, and perhaps more convenient (taking one bag slot - as opposed to piles of wood taking two), but I don't think these messed up post apocalyptic towns should have working stoves. But, I would see finding a big open range (an Aga) and bringing in piles of wood could be interesting... heating a room/building up... stopping infection... and letting you cook... As for adding more nutrition to the food... Tinned food is already processed, whatever its got in it, its got in it, raw or cooked... Raw meat we already can cook in the game and as per the real thing its more palatable and one gains more nutrition from it... So this suggestion is somewhat muted. "idea 14: zombies should wander into apartments and houses at night to sleep (on the floor) walking into the zombies resting places can wake them up." Zombies don't seem to sleep... They're infected and always on the look out for lunch, burning up their body reserves, which is why they're in such a state... least this is how I come to understand them just by watching their behaviour... having them go to bed is going to look like the end sequence from 'Shaun of the Dead'... Having them collecting trolleys or competing on 'Its a Knock Out'. "idea 15: add pharmacies and clinics which may have antibiotics or bandages." True more places for medical supplies would be good, but this is post apocalypse... they might very well have been raided and empty already... Plus the idea of the game is to spur you into needing to go to different places to survive, so finding antibiotics (etc) should not be trivialised. "idea 16: make cars alot more common but fuel alot rarer this would encourage a thing i call the fuel wars." Interesting idea, but perhaps the people have fled in their cars... spreading this infection... plus its been a few years since infection took hold, the world is battered and bruised... The current low amount of vehicles just seems to fit to me, it seems right. "idea 17: cars should only need repairing if you crash or shoot them because why would every car need repairing?." The world has come to a stop, the infection has ravaged the place, what few vehicles remain have been left in all weathers for seasons on end, they're rusty, battered, abused vehicles... That's why every car needs repairing... Mel Gibson taught us this as the Mad Max series progressed. "idea 18: gunshots should not attract zombies as it is unfair the way the zombies keep respawning and you run out of ammo so i like to sneak." Erm... Justify this one... Why is if unfair... You make a shed load of noise and everyone just stumbles on... and they keep respawning because this is trying to make you move on, you can't kill them all and then just saunter around, that's not a game, its not a challenge... And if you like to sneak then go sneak, don't shoot... And then remember this, different guns already have different sound levels, go find a pistol (I suggest a G17) and pop a few in the head, don't fire an enfield in a town, but you fire a pistol you'll bring very few Z's your way. "idea 19: let players fire assault rifles and pistols while running for reduced accuracy." Erm... when you are running you sway your arms, big big swings... holding weapons is all you can do with them... If you want to move and shoot... Hold left shift down as you move... I mentioned left shift before... I don't think you've grasped how to use it... Go play at night, crouch, hold left shift, walk around quietly and use a pistol to head shot zombies... you may suddenly find your game improving a lot. Thanks.... Now... Please seek help... Knife Knife Knife... Ship Ship... Car Car Car... Its a bit repetitive, and in case of the knife fixation a little worrying.

There is a total of 11 vehicles per server. They spawn randomly. I'm gonna write a thread about the mechanics of it like i did about the loot system (link in my signature). Will take some time tough as i don't own a server and have to search for the files elsewhere.

Everywhere i've looked there seems to be an overwelming lack of data on vehicles. The spawn location are spammed with people finding vehicles left by other players. How many vehicles are there in total and of each category. My friend has a theory that the vehicles switch to another predefined location on server restart if not claimed. I disagree, i feel that vehicles when spawned stay there until they're destroyed, then within 1-7 days respawn back to original location? I know bicycles spawn between electro & cherno lighthouse. ATV spawn on top of the mountain opposite. Pickup truck next to meskenco. 2 ATV's on the mountain south of NE airfield. Heli at the SE island. Question on heli, will it always spawn at SE island when destroyed or will it swich position? Also anyone know any other vehicle spawns? i may turn this into a master vehicle thread if i get enough responses. BTW these vehicle locations are legit as it was found on my new server.... they're gone now

Vehicle Information
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well wiki says theres a total of 52 vehicles. I do recall from an unknown source that it maximum was like 12 or 16? or is that wrong? Ok so vehicles which do spawn, spawn randomly in one of these predefined locations? -
I have found a UAZ at Stary, a van just north of Solnichniy, and a Tractor at Factory. This web page might help http://dayz.wikia.com/wiki/Vehicles.

This should give you all the info you need about the vehicles - click on the individual vehicles and look to the right for "Rarity Common (6-8 per server)" if there are 5 spawns for a helicopter on the map and only chance for 1 to spawn, then I believe it will change between these spawn points if it falls under the criteria highlighted in red below (correct me if i'm wrong someone). If it hasn't been touched at all I believe it will stay in the same spot, servers only move vehicles back on certain conditions - If a vehicle is unused, bugged or left, it will respawn after a minimum of 7 days. As for vehicle locations, there are loot maps that contain such information (though I try to avoid using these as it feels a little like cheating :D)

I am always coming across the weirdest shit
straw replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
that s the work of a hacker - he teleported all the vehicles to one spot, obviously they couldnt move the boat on land, you could have blown it up with satchel tho :P -
I have been playing on the ham server for the past week ...found myself a load of loot that i had stored in tents, had a few vehicles and today when i try to join it has been changed to lingor....now i know there is nothing wrong with the admins wanting to change the server to lingor...but a bit of notice would b nice...all the guns i had are now gone along with my supplies and vehicles. a weeks play down the drain and im back to square one makes me wonder if it is worth playing this game until the stand alone comes out. or mayb rent my own server..though the prices for a server in aus are way too expensive.. cmon admins give us some notice before changing the server. cheers
