I can't find vehicles as it is, but i will say yes as long as more vehicles are spawned in game.
-
Sweeet. I grw tired of the german Lingor map. Add vehicles and it's gonna own ;]
-
As others have stated, vehicle trades would be difficult to negotiate. I'd say trade it for an actual weapon of some sort, since vehicles are tied down to which ever server they belong to anyway.

Beans to fraggle duping has had a real shitey effect. I dropped a few shiney guns from Heli crashes for things like Enfields or CZ550's just due to ammo. Everyone having the highest end gear and mountains of ammo has altered the game entirely. All the empty servers too has made a epidemic of server hoppers. Bear traps were a funny addition I found a tent packed with them not long after they came in to the game and spent a while surrounding this campsite and vehicles with them all....... I know it worked as when i went back the next day to look at the campsite the tent that had morphine in it had 3 less in there.
-
That was a bad move not killing him. =| Also, never keep all your tents and vehicles in the same place. Spread the tents out, and the vehicles further. You're more likely to keep them that way, and at the very least, prevent this kind of mass destruction. Hope you learned something.

Hi everyone, i'm proud to announce the opening of our server on Vilayer's hive ! Name : DayZChernarus - (1.7.2.6/96584) (Veteran|3D:ON|CH:OFF) - Server FA | Vilayer.com IP : 94.242.227.230:2322 -Time is UTC +1 (France Time) -We will restart the server 3 time a day ! ( 10AM - 4PM - 9PM) -Side chat : ENABLED -VOIP : ENABLED France-airsoft is a Airsoft association, if you don't know what airsoft is just type 'airsoft' on google, and you ll find few answers :D Our website (French of course) : www.france-airsoft.fr We re few members of FA + friends who are playing DayZ, we've been playing on Ofiicial hive server since 3 months and we've decided to get our own server, but with Vilayer's hive, to avoid cheaters and server hopers, even if there are some of them too. Difficulty is set to veteran, but it's custom because zombies are just a bit weaker than the real veteran difficulty, you have Crosshair (useful to pick some items) and you can set waypoints. Ping limit is set to 150. Right now we've found few vehicles and we started gathering weapons and stuff. We re playing most PvE, because of the lack of players, that's why i'm here to encourage people to join us ! We ve got friendly players actually but some of us would like to fight against other players, that's where the game become interesting ;) The rules of server are quite simples : -Hackers, exploiters and others dumbass will be kick immediately -NO OTHERS RULES you can play PvP, PvE, destroy tents, vehicles, being friendly or trick people, just HAVE FUN and play as you wish, just one thing remember that if you kill one of us we will hunt you till the end of time !! We're looking to set up Events and new maps sessions (Lingor, takistan) we'll let you know on the topic of course ! Next and first Event : "Axe only battle in Tchernogorsk" more details soon :) Thanks eveyone and long life to DayZ !

DAYZ TEAM NOT GIVING MY SERVER ANY VEHICLES
venthos replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The DayZ team has targeted you specifically as part of a conspiracy. I'm not sure what you've done, but you've pissed the wrong people off. Your server is the only server to not have vehicles right now. I heard rumors that urbanfox and/or Max Planck are at the heart of this conspiracy. Be aware of the lies, trust no one. They feel you would be too powerful with vehicles and aim to keep you from ever getting behind the wheel. You've stumbled onto something great here, sir. Godspeed and good luck in your quest to take down the tyrannical vehicle denying crew that has infiltrated DayZ's staff. I swear urbanfox has to be at the heart of it! I fear that by the time you've read my reply, urbanfox will have already sent men in suits with violin cases to my door step. The vehicles, man... you must... get... the vehicles! Avenge meeeeeeeeeeee.... ------- OR --------- It could be something rational like I believe vehicles don't spawn instantly for new instance IDs (to prevent abuse). You might want to, I don't know, ask rationally instead of making an ALL CAPS post and "calling out" the DayZ team for you not having vehicles and implying they've decided to not give you vehicles? Sweet christ, dude. -

Peeps on your server I personally saw admin abuse. Orphen used side chat to give the location of someone away who had pm'd you for a restore. Orphen also threatened abuse in side chat regularly, threatening to turn peoples vehicles into different vehicles or ban them. I also personally saw you lock the server for just you and Orphen to do w/e the fuck you were doing. You banned 2 entire clans on your server lol. Like holy fuck. You banned people in clans who didnt even do anything wrong maybe you disagree'd with their clanmates actions and you banned the entire clan. You are an abusive douchey admin hands down no arguement. You wanna stock your server with noobs and ban anyone who you just don't like thats fine, but lets not pretend you are a super nice admin who gives out warning and shit. I saw you ban people for chat w/o warning. Unless your warning is "don't be a dick" which pops up and is only enforced when you see fit. You should take a poll, I bet a large majority of your server finds Orphen to be a dick. Guess he needs a ban lol. -
Should we remove barbed wire in the next update
Vladivar replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Wow, what a weak-assed way to gauge community opinion, "Hey guys, we've got a hotfix on the way in an hour or two, do you want us to remove a huge element of the game based on a handful of opinions?"How about actually interacting with your community to try and fix a game mechanic that is buggy and easily abused in it's current form? This is an Aplha is it not? Aren't we meant to be working towards fully working game mechanics in the long term? If everything in DayZ/ARMA II that is bugged was removed rather than fixed it would make for a very barren 225km2 landscape. Did'nt Rocket say this would be about 'trial and error'? Additionally, offering no alternative other than a Yes/No vote on the subject just polarises debate and draws out the lowest common denominator. On one side we have "OMG, barbwire, what? I have to go find a toolbox to remove it? No, i'm far too lazy for that, TAKE IT OUT PLS" and on the other we have "lulz, my barbwire has funneled everyone into a killing ground while I sit up on my barbwire-protected silo no-one can reach, while i'm sniping teh n00bs, KEEP IT FTW" The saddest part of all of this is, unless i've missed it, there has been no comment here from devs either directly or indirectly on any of the suggestions posted in this 45 page thread. A simple 'That could be workable/Sorry we can't do that' on any of the comments here would give encouragement to the community that their thoughts and ideas were listened to. [/rant] Thankfully, some people have taken the time to put forward sensible ideas on how barbwire could be changed in order to make it a more functional game mechanic; 1. Stop respawn of removed barbwire on server reboot 2. If item one not available, make barbwire have to be saved/interacted with in order to remain in place. 3. Toolbox required to deploy 4. Tweak spawn rates of barbwire and/or toolboxes 5. Tweak spawn rates of other barricading devices 6. Remove the glitches/artifacting 7. Make them shorter 8. Barbwire currently blocks vehicles, but not Zombies, this is the wrong way round. Here's some other suggestions; A. Make barbwire take up more slots in the inventory, would people be so keen to pick them up if it took up three slots like Jerry cans, four like Fuel tank parts or even six slots like Engine parts? B. Want to promote 'Hero status'? automatically add a toolbox to the toolbelt of anyone who achieves Hero status. C. Provide a server side tool/facility to enable server hosts to have barbwire/tanktraps/sandbags disappear on either server restart or after 'X' number of hours/days. Our server has recently been spammed with barbwire by a scripter (we found it in the logs) who came in when the server was empty and set up a Cherno killing ground funnel. Rather than whine endlessly about how crap barbwire is, we're polling our DayZ community as to whether or not we restart the server mission and basically start from scratch. We don't want barbed wire removed from the game as it is an interesting game dynamic, we'd much rather that there were some basic modifications that would develop the feature, allow some server side control (for dealing with scripted in fortifications) and stop it affecting server performance. It would be most encouraging to hear the feedback of a dev either directly, or via a forum mod. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.6 Rolling Update
kevinyoki2 replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Alright this is ridiculous. This morning I was playing on an updated (and rather popular in the afternoon) server. I had a tent and an ATV placed in a remote location on the map. I decided to go looting in Berezino. In case I didn't survive I placed some valuables in the tent. I hoped that even if the tent did not save, I would be able to get to it before a server restart in case I died. I drove my ATV to the northeast corner of Berezino and did a sloppy job of hiding it next to a tree and a bush. After an unsuccessful trip of looting I came back to where I parked my ATV. It was gone. Even though there were only four people in the server at the time, I accepted that it probably got stolen. I ran back to my tent location to pick up my valuables and log off. When I got to it the tent was not there. It had disappeared. Now keep in mind that this was an extremely good hiding spot between two gigantic bushes and a rock in a thick forest. Plus no one could pack the tent except me. Then I realized my vehicle wasn't stolen, it had simply disappeared along with my tent. I checked a nearby location of another broken down ATV, and it was gone as well. This led me to the conclusion that all tents and vehicles were somehow erased from the server while people were still logged onto it. Is this the work of a hacker? Or is it a rare glitch? -

Hi, you are welcome to check us out at The BSB Network. We're a social gaming community that is dedicated to fair and fun gaming. We have over 200 players in various Fire teams and groups playing Day Z and using our Teamspeak Server to communicate and coordinate their scavenges and raids. These teams have several bases, vehicles, camps and play across several of our own home servers. The community is mostly adult gamers over the age of 20 (well over in most cases!) but there are no age, time or skill requirements - all we ask is you play fair and have a bit of common sense about you! Our members are based all over the world and are on at all times of the day and night, but all speak English and most are based in the UK and Mainland Europe with some in the US too. We've been gaming as a community since 2002, so we're not some ad-hoc fly by night clan that's been quickly set up and will be gone in the blink of an eye! There is no obligation to join our clan or any of our affiliated clans/groups to take part in our sessions though, everyone is free to urn up and get involved. If you're interested check out or website @ www.bsbnetwork.com and try to hop on our Teamspeak 3 server and say "hi!" 212.187.246.58:9140 -
Camps of a duping clan - US 257 Seattle
hohlraum replied to xfortune's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
... are hackers. The server is going offline this week, so if you want any of this stuff everyone is welcome to it. We don't really play much on 257 any more because as soon as 20+ people get on the hackers log in and start teleporting vehicles/boats/people around the map. It's pretty much the same with any busy server. Esp if you ban them. -
I was trying to think of some activities to do in Dayz. Just surviving gets boring when u are tooled up and i would like some suggestions. They would either be nasty or nice though I suppose so they would be in two categories or maybe even neutral. Here are some quick ones I was thinking about starting from the basics.... Shooting bandits Shooting players Bandit spawn hunting? Fixing up vehicles Fixing up helicopters and then machine gunning the shit out of things. Scaring people over direct chat Satchel bombing buildings when people enter. Roadside Satchel Bombs for passing vehicles! Satchels beside bait like vehicles and tents. Kidnapping players and making them have axe fights Robbing players at gunpoint Protecting new players Giving new players supplies. Bird watching? Axe murdering sprees Hog vaulting Handgun rabbit shooting Throwing tin cans at zombies Starting a bus service Car racing, maybe drag racing down the airfield runway. Bike and motorbike racing Midnight rave parties in the bush with road flares and techno music over direct chat If anyone has some interesting suggestions id like to hear more.

Hackers/Scripters do a manner of different things. Some will kill and troll players, others will prosper with weapons, vehicles etc.

Few things I've run into in this patch. - Vehicles come back with no fuel and everything needing to be repaired after a server restart. The vehicle location and gear saved but the state of the parts apparently don't. - There are still occasional graphical glitches. Can't get close enough to whatever is causing them to figure out what it is though. (no more due to dead bodies though :D ) - Bandit kills don't get recorded on the debug monitor. I can flip between default/debug and have everything besides bandit kills be updated.

Stupid things that you have done or that have happened to you
tjG3ftw436 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A Bad Demoman: About my fourth week of playing DayZ I found someone's tent up near black lake hidden inside a hill with two satchel charges in it. I promptly took these and I went on my way raiding the north eastern airfield. After finding nothing of interest I thought to myself well since I have these satchel charges maybe I should learn how to use them. So I set one down having only the knowledge that they can be set for 30 seconds and for remote detonation. I scrolled through the options and saw deactivate the bomb, set bomb detonation 30 secs and touch-off bomb(s)(1). Thinking "Oh hey that touch-off option must be to set it for remote detonation," I clicked it and the next thing I know I'm flying one hundred feet into the air in my death pose . Well there's nothing like first hand experience with explosives . Bike Fail: After dieing to some server hoppers while alt+tabbed out watching a video my friends sent me over mumble I respawned near Electro and made my way to the light house by Cap Golova and found myself a bike. This was the first time I had ever found one as my usual server is a clan server and all the vehicles are probably hoarded off the map being used as tents, thanks disciples of anarchy. Taking it for a spin through Cherno and then back through to Electro attracting a huge train of zombies I notice a crawling one had spawned. I aimed by new bike right for his head and sped up to 45km/h expecting to roll this zombie and as soon as my tire hits his body I bunny hop ten feet into the air, fall back down, fracture my legs and knock over the bike. Meanwhile my zombie train was gaining on me fast so I emptied my entire MP5 clip into the zombie's head for ruining my ride and ran off behind some trees to lose the aggro then rage quit :emptycan: . Suicidal Hero: After finding my first DMR with my hero skin I thought it would be a great idea to counter sniper the spawn killing d-bags in Cherno and Electro. I logged into a medium pop server and carefully made my way into Cherno managed to not get capped climbing the hospital ladder and sat up there scanning for bandits. After about two minutes I spotted one going towards the industrial area with his SVD Camo clearly going to try and kill fresh spawns. I took aim with my DMR held my breath and took my first shot aiming right for center of mass. Unfortunately I had forgotten how to correctly use the mil-dots and my shot went low and hit his legs, breaking them. The shot didn't knock him out and he managed to see me and took a wild shot at me missing by a few feet so I hit Z to go prone and my character suddenly had a brilliant idea. "Hey I should get a running start on this dive it will be great," and in those 2 seconds of running before my guy actually went prone I made it to the edge of the roof and then went prone diving off the edge and dieing when I hit the ground . The bandit ran off and lived because after I respawned there weren't any death messages besides mine. -
New players joining and looking for tips
Pherion replied to Pherion's topic in New Player Discussion
Hmmm...So on the private hives it will still save my things right? Vehicles/tents/gear but just on that private hive. On the public hive it will save aswell but on a new "account" right? We are ready for it. To be honest this feature was one of those that truelly interested us. :) -
You are aware that the vehicles have a save function right? Should even have been fixed in the new patch
-
Ok, this came to me when me and a friend found a V3S out by Stary Sobor. We ended up driving it all the way back to Cherno with half a tank left of gas, and decided to go through Cherno for more stuff. We hid the V3S outside of Cherno in some forest to the north of it. After we where done scavenging, we came back to the vehicle and logged out. We came back the next day to find the server had a reset, and the vehicle was remove/put back to its normal drop/spawn location in the process. This kinda ticked us of, but said what ever and headed to the Air strip. along the way, the idea of being able to find a tarp or some sort of covering that you could throw over vehicles, that saves there location and items, even in a server restart, but does not protect the vehicle from other players, allowing them to remove the tarp and have access to the vehicle. This would have to be a rare drop, so that we don't just have all the vehicles taken and then never re-spawn. And I think it would also extend the 7 day inactivity to 14 or 28, to give a player more time if needed. This is an idea that I think maybe be added, but may need to be broken up into 3 sizes; Small (Easier to find only covers ATV, Old Bike, Motorcycle, and Tractors) Medium (Harder to find then Small, covers Jeeps, and other 2 to 4 seat vehicles as well as all the vehicles small covers) and Large (Hardest of them to find, covers all Vehicles in the game) Post what you think of this below.

Anyway, back on topic. Is there any need to chop down trees? Admittedly you could use them to block roads to stop vehicles, use them as a temporary bridge, make planks, etc. Ultimately not a priority until we need materials to build encampments. Besides surely we could just chop the tree with the axe and use that wood? Just delete the tree after using it several times. that way it cuts down on the server memory and no physics needed.

Why do you need a clan for anything? Clans are for lazy bustards that can't be arsed hunting and gathering their own gear. Tonight I have been in all the major airfields, and a fair few of the rest of the military spawn areas, in a four hour visit to chernarus. I don't have any vehicles, I did it all on foot, I do not belong to a clan. I have had enough time to create 4 loot piles(for respawn purposes) and get everything that I need to survive quite handsomly(I also had to respawn medical twice for antibiotics after getting an infection). I managed a little indulgence by slaughtering 200 infected whilst I was at it. You can keep clans - I have never survived more than one session when teaming up.

This would only be a good idea if it wasn't overpowered and had rules 1. you can only bury in a open field 2. you can bury 2 items max and no more then one dig site a life. 3. metal detectors and dogs to sniff out items. 4. no burying vehicles!!! 5. detection in a 25 meter radius 6. anyone who kills you finds your treasure map and has a time limit to get your items
