  1. Obviously, lets let hackers roam free, dupers dupe without regard, bugs sit and lie cause fuck all these problems with tents, they don't affect anyone. Who cares about glitches with vehicles, getting the standalone out.Who needs important things done honestly? Lets just slack off and let chicks dress up as bushes. Why? Cause this obviously comes before all that.
  2. US 4 is now a public private hive server. 20 vehicles spawned and one clan [TAC] ready to engage in clan vs clan warfare. Come and join us on US 4. P.S.-If you get kicked when you join the first time, try again. If the problem persists then close DayZ commander and re-join.
  3. We have exactly the same problem on our Vilayer Public Hive server. The very first time the server started one of us checked all the possible Heli spawns starting at Skalisty Island. Nobody else had been on the server. The huey is not loading but other vehicles are (checked the logs). We have even destroyed other vehicles thinking it might be a global vehical limit stopping it from spawning but no luck there either. Over 7 days have passed and no Huey has spawned. :( Actually, just a thought... Would reverting the server back to 1.7.2.5 force whatever logic is preventing the Huey from spawning to reset? - maybe then it might spawn? I just remember the issues with the previous version where vehicles would not save but revert back to their spawn after each server restart.

    Advanced Character Customization: Know Your Identity

    I've always said this kind of thing was great, but you got me thinking more. Here's my version. Before you spawn in, you are given choices as to what you want. You can wear hats, masks, glasses, shirts, jackets, pants, socks, shoes, hairstyles/skin color, and make-up. Say we give players some basic articles of clothing. Then we add some patterns you can put on them. And give them color palettes and allow them to color the pattern. What have we got? We have: 1. Uniforms- Hell ya! 2. Identity- No way am I mistaking my teammate with a bandit douche anymore. 3. Personality- Yep. 4.Callsigns- Say friendlies wore white bandanas in that server? 5. Disguises- Take their clothes and wear them, impersonating them. This might be done more on women than men. (cross-dressing would be cool) 6. Basic camo- Always good. 7. You got what you wanted- There's nothing better. Examples of hats- beanies, baseball caps, jeff caps, fadoras, cowboy hats, berets, and skullcap, hardhat, hood (needs hoodie). Say now you can put decals on some of these. Examples of masks- half-mask, balclava, scarf, gasmask, surgeon mask, scarf, ski-cap, welding mask. Examples of glasses- sunglasses, safety goggles, ski-goggles, prescription glasses, monicle. Examples of wigs- clown wig, toupee, anime, bald cap. Examples of shirts- collared, polo, tank-top, t-shirt, flannel -Longsleeves- basically the same & sweatshirt/sweaters. Examples of jackets- hoodie, vest, winter jacket, rain coat, wind-breaker, military, leather jacket. Examples of pants- shorts, cargos, jeans, sweatpants, chinos, trousers. Examples of socks- really? Examples of shoes- tennis, sneakers, boots, rainboots, hiking, athletic, cleats, basketball, sandals, flip-flops- barefoot. Include a spectrum as well as palettes, and patterns such as- tiger stripe, plaid, cross-stitch, victorian, stripe, camo, paint-splatters. Decals such as- words and letters for sports teams, symbols like animals and vehicles ect. Details such as- rips, tears, patches, distressed, wrinkles, dirt, burns, ect. That and then basic to advanced facial customization. Amazing.
  5. zombies dont notice people in vehicles :) if you are in a car sitting in a town they dont spawn either (same goes for loot) correct me if i am wrong :P

    Absolutely go for it! The content is really nice! BAF vehicles and units are superb and the same goes for the "Proving Grounds" Map from PMC. They also add some interesting single and multiplayer scenarios as well. It's definitely worth it ;)
  7. A loot map of Chernarus is on the horizon guys. The underlying framework for toggling loot/building/vehicles locations is done. Think DayZDB and DayZWiki maps B) All that is left to do is position every single location on the map... Yeah, as you can imagine this will take a while, but with the help from Shinfo (the man who made the graphics for the Reddit subreddit), we should be able to power through this.

  10. I've had them and they are on the map. The pbx is excellent but rare. It has only one spawning point and in my experience is rarely on a server, and I've looked! Fishing boats you find along the coast. There's a map of possible locations of vehicles and how often they spawn - does not mean they spawn on every restart or on every server. Hang on let me see if I can find the page. Would be helpful here. Thanks. :thumbsup: I forgot to say: You can hide vehicles anywhere on or off map once you have them but the moment a helicopter sees it you can kiss it goodbye.

    Before everyone starts shouting "IT'S A TARP", we're doing this because we want other groups to come and play on our private hive, US 571. There are currently 2 UH1H's on our server, we have 1, and we don't want the other. The other one is sitting in front of the Cherno Hospital. Everything is broken, but it's yours, and there will never be a threat of my group stealing your heli. Hell, if you go to the trouble of fixing it all up, then you get sniped as you start it up then I will hunt them down myself We basically want another group/clan on our server to play with, and have wars with and we're willing to give up this heli, plus any of the other 51 vehicles you can find on our server.   12. well we just have 4 vehicles on our camp for a clan of ten people and we'd really I mean really like to have a chopper, maybe it's overrated but who knows and it's kind of a deal breaker to be told by VILAYER they don't have control over vehicles and not recieve any answer of the people controlling the hive

  14. Hello im kinda new to DayZ and I have a question, I just found 2 tents from a dead guy in NWAF and I set 1 up fairly close to the Airfield to store some items. I then get a message that the server is about to restart within a few minutes so I pressed "Save Old Camping Tent", after filling it, I set up the other tent near it, few seconds later my session was lost because of the reset, but I did NOT save it. Few moments later, I logged back in and both of my tents were still there! Even the one I didnt save. So how do tents work exactly? Me and my buddies tried to find a server with 1 restart per day, cause we didnt want to save tents every 3 hours per day to save the contents.. So, what does Saving Tents actually do? Saves the tent? The contents? Or both? And for how long does one "Save Old Camping Tent" last? For 1 reset or couple? Cause I dont know why people would join a server with 6 resets per day.. You cant have any vehicles and/or tents then (prosuming vehicles work the same way..) Because, who is crazy enough to save every 3 hours per day? Im really confused about this and I hope somebody can shine some light in this for me. =) Regards, Preddie

    Restarts do spawn vehicles. If they've been destroyed for the mandatory 7 days, the next restart will spawn it.

    I don't think restarts respawn vehicles. There on timers once there destroyed or out in the woods in someone camp saved

    Still unsure how tents work

    So if I save my tent with, lets say a DMR on the first reset and I go on a holiday of 5 days, the DMR would still be in the same tent if I came back? Presumingly if it hasnt been stolen or my tent destroyed by that ofcourse. And do vehicles work the same way like this?
  19. I've been playing DayZ for about three months now and for about 95% of that time I've been on the official, public hive. I never experienced the DayZ that some people speak warmly about, before everyone started duping, hacking and killing each other on sight not only most of the time, but all the time. So after having fun but more or less accepting the random deaths via hostile teleportation, finding tents with ghillies, as50'ies, silenced m4 etc. pretty much everywhere it started to get to me. Everywhere I read that the game was "too easy". Well, the game isn't "too easy", the duping and hacking is making a completely different game - and I've just found the holy graal, SE9 and SE10 (zombies.nu). First of all you have to register to get access to the hive. That in and of itself removes a lot of hackers. Second of all, the hive is only running on two servers, meaning ghosting is pretty much nonexistent. Now, I realize that there are lots of private hives like this, but Tansien (who runs SE10 and 9) has improved upon the mod by adding features according to my needs, such as: * No more combat logging = your body stays in game for 30 seconds * No AS50 or L85 = no more noobstation snipers * No item duping = Tansien has made tents work properly (rocket should hire this guy tbqfh) * Weapons do full damage = Rifles are truly deadly, just like IRL, they are no longer nerfed like what was done in one of the beta patches (pistols are still the same) * Vehicles respawn properly = No more hiding the vehicles so no one can use them * Vehicles that are moved outside the map boundries explode etc. etc. This private hive is amazing. And playing on this hive is, bottom line, a completely different, better experience than on the public hive. No more hackers, no more combat logging, no more "everyone has a ghillie and an AS50 and a silenced M4/L85" because duping and tents/vehicles/backpacks is possible. There are some issues though: - Only one server (two iterations) - 54 slots that pretty much always are full - Lots of lag (in spite of great hardware) This can of course be improved upon by donating some cashdough to Tansien so he can improve upon the hive. Head over to his zombies.nu and read more about it, register and try DayZ at its potential.

Intro: Hello, this thread was raised by me to adress a problem... hackes... all games have them and they are considerd a pest of the gaming world nobody likes them and they are looked at as zitty teenagers with a cracked voice in laughter as they ruin a good game of zombie hunting fun, for the sake of their own amusement... this has to stop! NOW! I am here to propuse a series of suggestions to hopefully end this madness wich has ruined so many dayz servers, and med me personally quit playing the game! The Problem: Hackers are using a method of running client side scripts to spawn items and vehicles into the game and also using aimbots/ESP hacks to find supplies and players, killing them without them having a fair chance of defending themselves. This way that arma 2 is built makes hacking easy. Bypassing the protocol that sends a copy of all client side run scripts is easy! Im sorry to say that the only way to fix this problem with pure software is nearly or so hard that it is considered useless! This, however does not mean we should give up! Here i present: the solution The Solution: I am not a diehard fan of bohemia interactive, i started playing the games when arma 2 first came out, not making me a veteran, but i am experienced. I have a lot of friends in the biggest clan dedicated to Arma 2, the 7th cavalry. This clan was started in 2002 with the games they focused on was americas army (citation needed). They have about 400 active members and i believe about half of them are dedicated to arma 2. Wich means they have at leest 20 or so members who are veteran skilled bohemia interactive fans/players. And they have more experience in server hacking prevention in arma than most of us! We can only learn! They use hands on players to admin their servers! They also use something called "RCon tool" wich is a powerful admin tool used to find hackers using the "old faction way" of detective work. They have in some rear cases also used something called "Lost Keys" wich is originally a mission debug tool, but its features can be used in admining. (teleporting to hackers, god mode so hackers cant kill you while admining). I am taking into consideration that these tools should be restricted to ADMIN USE ONLY! and that the exploit of the tools should result in a Dayz ban and server blacklist! But on the other side a exploit of the tool is much better as it is about 2-3 admins per server, and the chance of them exploiting is smaller than a chance on a hacker ruining and emptying an entire server! Please devs! Considers this as me trying to help! NOT doing your job! Please, community share your taughts!

    Did I say every single one? No, I didn't. I simply said that it should be a CHANCE to find a working GPS in vehicles, because, as you know, many vehicles have GPS'.
  22. What is the deal with the long server resets anyways? I had a chopper for a little while on a vilayer server and crashed it. After the server restart I was unable to find it again, been to all the spawn points. I concede the possibility that someone has hidden it off map, and while I've explored out there a little bit, I did not find it. My group and I even took the PDX to the island off map to check for the chopper. My bigger complaint/concern is the long server restart times. Why does the server need to be 5 days old? All the crash loot is gone, we've destroyed a number of vehicles by accident and on purpose. I've personally destroyed the UAZ, a off-road pickup, a hatch back, two ATVs, two Buses and a hippy van. We also have destroyed a few peoples camps. With the long reset times, doesn't leave me much ability to fix and repair fresh spawned vehicles.

    Is this the case again with loot, when you run, You don't get spawn triggers? But when you walk, a normal spawn? Vehicles can alter this also, driving too fast into a spawn point won't spawn stuff? You gotta then run away and go back for spawns. I got this all the time on maps, Zeds are a give away too when spawns trigger. From a conversion POV all them buildings and its gonna take time to set up spawns for gear and stuff. I would expect all millitary buildings to spawn regardless. Out of interest, what are the other 13 maps? anyone have a clue? Waiting for DayZ Commander for this, so the community can catch up.

    Where on earth are the vehicles?

    This is why I play on a private hive. The server I play on has active admins who do regular maintenance on the server to make sure things like vehicles driven into the water or boats on land respawn properly so players can use them. They also are quick to ban script-kiddies. Link to forum post where I play if you want to check it out.   25. That's mostly because people hoard vehicles, especially clans. They just hoard them and don't even use them, hide them away in their camps or off the map.
