  1. are you pointing it at vehicles, being it heatseaking and all? and as for the M240 ammo? my MK48 loves chewing through the stuff!
  2. I love how people are complaining aout the 50 cals. They were once rare until duping and scripters came around. Hell I have a tws on me right now. I really wouldn't want to see 50 cals being removed. They're in the game for vehicles and most people like to use them on players which is fine by me. Now for the people complaining about it being OP.. It's a 50 cal what do you expect. Oh my god I died and he shot me in the foot wtf. Have you ever seen the power of a 50 cal on a human body? Blood and gore everywhere. The only thing I see as a temporary fix is doing a database wipe. That way we can all have a reason to go to the north again.
  3. HsH - Hillside Hillbillies Is looking to start up a bandit group on an established RP server:(server in peak times runs dual servers/ single hive 100-120 people. Avg on super slow times 15-20 ppl) I am looking for bandits who want an extremely tough challenge as the rules on the server make playing bandit very hard. We currently have 5 members, looking to add 5-10 more total. Please read! :) What Im looking for: Players can play at 9/930pm eastern zone + Players that understand hit and run and guerrilla military style game play Players that want a challenge Players w. sense of humor/ aren't offended Players that dont mind qq'ers (alot of those on RP servers :/ ) Players that can use vent Most of all players that can follow rules Why RP? Alot of players lol at RP, I did too, until I tried out this server. What makes the server different and a complete challenge for bandits? Simple, there is no KOS/ murders. That means we MUST approach others to rob them/ kill them/ steal their vehicles. Its a unique challenge and actually makes the game alil more intense to play. Currently I play solo, and have to avoid cities, and move from site to site w/ caution. More realistic in some ways, making the game a bit more fun. (of course IRL there would be ppl that just killed others on site, but that would not be the norm) Thats why I stayed on this server. In addition, they have done a excellent job at keeping hackers/scripters at a minimum which is always nice. Playing on this server will challenge the simple idea of shoot 1st, or hide and shoot at a distance. That is easy, and any1 can do, but not any1 can actually step into a role of the game, where you actually have to THINK to play. Heres how it works. People have to be warned, Ie drop your weapons, stop your car etc.(Im looking for "harsh style people, as I am not nice when playing bandit) If they comply you rob them of w.e and send them on their way. (sounds boring, until it happens to you, then you see a whole different feel for game) If they dont comply, the laws of open survival take place. What i am looking for is like minded players that want to play in the hills. Set up road blocks, cut of pass-ways to cities like the nobors/ nwaf, track down vehicles, raid camps. Play a real style bandit. Not the players that stay in starter cities and kill ppl, that's a waste of time and really is for weak dick players. ideally i would like to find anywhere from 5-10 total members. If interested please pm here and I will give you more details, we can talk and see if we'd be a fit. I know alot of ppl will most likely lol @ this post, fair enough, but for those who want to try a different and a bit of a challenge in the game, please contact me. Thanks

    man duck this ship

    - wasnt fun. it is what you make of it. - 90% of the time was running. Learn to find vehicles so that running isnt an option. - loot did not always appear in barns and other buildings. Loot doesnt appear in barns/buildings unless someone was in that area previous for it to spawn. if loot isnt in a barn run 100M away from the barn and it will spawn. - zombies end up running faster than you and hit you from 10 meters away. Zombies are much slower then survivors. I can crouch run away from zombies and not get it. Also getting hit 10 metres away? I would say this is caused by lag - you bleed, gotta bandage but the zombies run in zigzag and are hard to shoot due to 10-15 fps. best way to lose zombies is by going through houses with a back entrance or by exploiting pine trees. - stiff controls. Customize your controls. When I first started I had the hardest time getting past the controls,. after playing it for three months the controls are the least of my problems with this game. - stiff movements. ASk mom and dad to by you a modern computer. Decent rigs start from 700+ - lag. Have any torrents going? Maybe its time to look into a new ISP - low ass fps that i have NEVER had i any other game. What are you running for a CPU? This is most likely related to a lower end/older computer/

    Another noob on DayZ..Me

Lots of beans to you, and welcome to dayz. Sounds like you've had a successful start to the game. Dayzwiki is very good for essential information, and I recommend using it for information on weapons, vehicles, well just everything.
  6. I am pretty sure most people on this thread only want makarovs and double barrel shotguns. What type of game community makes non stop calls for removing everything in the game and not adding anything? That is right the anti game community that thinks everything under the sun is cheap. Even though I am not a fan of the .50 cals I could care less if they stay or go, these threads are getting a tad old though. Lets remove vehicles, lets remove third person, remove blood bags, remove morphine, etc, what would be left with if we listened to everyones opinion on what should be removed in the game, that is right makarovs and double barrel shotguns, end game status would be a sweet crossbow.
  7. Heads up I want to state that I am aware that there was a thread on this topic before. In my eyes the idea was not fleshed out well enough and the general presentation of the suggestion was less than mediocre. For this reason I am posting my own thread on this topic. Cars and other Vehicles are a valuable asset in DayZ. They are rather hard to get hands on, and even harder to keep your hands on. In the last couple of days me and my squad fixed repaired about 4 vehicles and stole another 2 or 3 from their stash. All of them where stolen from various locations around the map from us again by now. This is the reality for thousands of players every day. And I believe in it's core this is a good thing. However, since obviously every character in DayZ knows how to hot-wire a car (or keys are always kept behind the sunblind), there is only one way of securing your vehicle while you are offline: hide it, as good as you can, as far away from any spot a person could randomly pass by. And here I believe DayZ could do better. Randomly stumbling across a car and stealing it should be possible, but also I think it would be nice to be able to secure a car against random stealing, at least to some degree. If you head out, well prepared, to look for a car and then steal it, you should absolutely be able to, and no game mechanic should prevent you from doing that. But if you just stroll around the landscape and come across a car you should not be able to easily steal it, if it's owner has applied some security measures. Such security measures could come in the form of wheel clamps (aka wheel locks or immobilizers). Wheel clamps can be applied to any car, making the wheel which they are applied to unusable. Wheel clamps can be removed in two fashions: either regularly by unlocking it or forcibly by using a crowbar. Removing it forcibly however, would render the wheel it was attached to unusable, making it harder to relocate the vehicle after removing the wheel clamp. Finding a wheel clamp Wheel clamps would be very rare industrial or farm loot spawns. Making them only farm loot spawns would balance them out gameplay wise a bit better, since you wouldn't be able to find them easily while looking for the other parts to fixup your car, requiring you to search for them separately and thus actually invest additional resources to improve the security of your vehicle. Wheel clamps would take up three inventory slots (they are heavy and bulky after all). Applying a wheel clamp To apply a wheel clamp to a vehicle, you need to have the wheel clamp in your inventory and be adjacent to a car while looking at it. The action menu of the car will then show a "Clamp <wheel>" option for each wheel on the vehicle. E.g. a motorcycle would show a "Clamp front wheel" and "Clamp rear wheel" option. Clamping an already clamped wheel is not possible. After selecting the clamp wheel option, your character would perform an action animation, just as it does when you fix a part of a vehicle. As it finishes the wheel clamp is removed from your inventory and a wheel clamp appears on the wheel. The wheel of the car is now clamped and rendered useless for as long as the clamp remains attached. Driving with a wheel clamp A vehicle with an attached wheel clamp will behave as if the clamped wheel was broke down. Also, driving with an attached wheel clamp will actually break the wheel it is attached to, rendering it useless even after the clamp was removed regularly. Lastly, it is not possible to replace or remove a clamped wheel at any time. Removing a wheel clamp regularly To remove a wheel clamp regularly the character who has applied the wheel clamp will have to approach the vehicle again and select the "Unclamp <wheel>" option from the action menu. Note that only the character who has applied the clamp is able to remove it again regularly (as if only he had the keys to the clamp). If the character dies, it won't be possible to remove the clamps regularly anymore. After choosing to remove the clamp regularly the player will perform the typical action animation, remove the clamp from the car and place it in his inventory, given he has 3 slots available. If the player does not have 3 slots free in his inventory, the unclamping will fail with the message "Not enough inventory slots". Removing a wheel clamp forcibly If you are not the player who applied a wheel clamp or your character who applied it died, you will have to remove the wheel clamp forcibly. Removing a wheel clamp forcibly requires you to have the crowbar tool on you. You will not be able to remove a wheel clamp forcibly without a crowbar. Approach the car you want to remove the wheel clamp from and select "Forcibly unclamp <wheel>", where <wheel> is the clamped wheel. Your character performs the action animation and removes the clamp from the wheel. However, removing a clamp forcibly will always break the wheel clamp as well as the wheel it was attached to. You will need to replace the wheel with a fresh one, before you will be able to use the vehicle normally again. Although this mechanic is pretty fleshed out with only a couple of loose ends, details are subject to change (e.g. rarity, spawn locations, duration of animations for applying, removing regularly and removing forcibly, etc). Please provide me with feedback and your opinions. If you like it, please tell me how you like it and how you would use such an item. If you don't like it, please let me know what your concerns are or what you would change, to like it more. Thank you, Daniel

    Cars still disappearing?

before we switched our server from Cherno to Lingor we used to have this problem. Server would do its scheduled restart and all vehicles and tents wouldnt be where they were left. After another restart the vehicles/tents would appear back in the spot they were left. We found the easiest way for us to ensure that both returned after a restart was to schedule a second restart after the first one. That way tents and vehicles would reappear and our player base wouldnt have to wait for an admin to come on and notice that all was missing. after switching our server over to to a private hive and being able to use modified files that were prohibited by the Dayz server enforcement douches we havent had this problem at all. I'd suggest ditching the main hive and playing on a more stable/better supported second party hive.
  9. Only thing the AS50 is truly any use for in game is to stop vehicles or for ensuring a kill at 700m+ but very few people use it for those purposes because ammo for it is way to easy to come by with the current state of the game, I'll stick with my L85 for night time security and CCO SD at all other times.
  10. Thought I'd share a little story to anyone thinking of playing on this server, as there is definitely something fishy going on there, something the admin(s), perhaps even the owner is involved in. Don't even bother trying to set up a camp or find vehicles there. So I'm roaming around in the woods at night, looking for cars or camps basically, and I stumble upon a S1203 that had a weapon I'd never seen before in it, AS50 TW or something along those lines. I just assumed it was hacked in so I used it to blow up the car before dropping it, who wouldn't want to destroy a hacker's car? Moving further I find a HUGE camp of vehicles and tents, a ural, a v3s, 3 tractors, 2 of those white trucks, 2 atvs, 1 yellow car and 1 red car. Now I can only assume that this camp belongs to the "Vodka" clan, but in my experience that's why such clans have their own servers, to have their own huge camps safely set up north.. sure, I'd want that myself. Honestly I didn't know what to do with it at first, but I figured I probably wouldn't get away with all of their stuff as I was there all by myself. I check the gear in the vehicles and the tents, and what do I find? You guessed it, duplicated items, there were 13 ghillie's in one of them.. The ural and v3s were also full of high end weapons with crazy amounts of ammo, so I steal an L85 and destroy 2 of the tractors, the 2 white trucks and the 2 cars before setting off with the ural, and this is when the wierd things start happening.. After 30sec-1min of driving, I see a guy in ghillie pop up to the right of me, it wasn't too far from the camp and I don't know if he just logged in or if he's actually using teleport scripts, but it was wierd anyhow.. He starts running away from me and I keep driving like hell away from their camp.. about 1 minute later, a guy (presumably the same guy) comes chasing after me in an ATV, hes trying to get in front of me so he can shoot me but I keep turning away, he instead gets off the ATV and starts shooting at me with what sounded like an AS50 (I'm pretty firm at that point), one of the tires blow and the truck starts spinning in little circles. I realize I can't drive the thing anymore and I get out, so we're now at opposite sides of the truck me and him. I peak, he shoots, misses. I try to find the gear tab on the truck so I can get the AS50 off it, I find it, take it, try to take a blind shot at him, miss. So in one last effort to make something out of the situation I shoot the fuel tank of the truck, causing it to blow up before running off into the woods. I get shot at many, many times, it felt like he didn't have to reload ever.. and I get hit at last and die. Bare in mind this was in the middle of the night, so dark even turning brightness and gamma to max will have no effect. The AS50 cannot be used with NVGs. I log off after that, taking a break. 2-3 hours later I log back in on their server, find a bike on the beach, drive around a little, suddenly die out of nowhere, no gunshots just a "knack" sound you get when you break your leg. I respawn again on the beach, get shot by some guy with an AS50. My playtime on this server is over, the owners of the camp were obviously very mad and butthurt after I destroyed it. Serves them well for hoarding everything and duplicating every piece of equipment. This is merely a warning for other players, as I do not believe in the devs to dig deeper into this case and particular server.
  11. I would love to see them be more rare.. right now it appears SVD camos are more rare than 50 cals. Found a heli crash site last night with 2 as50s and an L85. Pretty neat stuff, not the first time I've got double 50 cals either. Also another thing I notice with the AS50 is it just has a strange bullet hit box.. I can shoot away from a person and still hit them even though I see the impact hit the ground. I don't know if its lag, but it just seems so easy! Especially with vehicles, all I have to do is shoot towards the vehicle and someone will drop out dead.
  12. Derpy_Hooves (DayZ)

What if the 50 cals were taken out of DayZ?

I keep saying everytime i see one of these threads, There are vehicles in DayZ therefor a need for .50cal Anti-Material Rifle. Just not so many.

    Cars still disappearing?

I've had cars disappear on me, only to be in the last place I left it. I've also had vehicles that would have zero fuel after a restart (even though the tank was full before)
  14. Here's some ideas that I've had over the month or so I've been playing DayZ: Bodies – when I come across a body I want to be able to study the body and find out exactly how that person died. “There are small gunshot wounds in his torso”, “He appears to have been hit in the head by some sort of large caliber rifle”, “blunt force trauma”, “he appears to have been shredded and partially eaten (in the case of zombies)”, “there are no external causes of death visible”, etc. I’d also like to know how long the body has been dead with something like “the body is still warm/cold/etc.” These things will give the perceptive and patient player an edge helping to know which towns to avoid, if there are snipers in the area, etc. All of these things could possibly be done visually as well – perhaps showing the wounds depending on how the person was killed, perhaps a pool of blood that slowly dries/evaporates as time goes on so you can see if the person just died recently and stuff like that. I also think the same could apply to fires – you could see if they were still warm or doused by checking on them, etc. Trash – When you use a bandage, blood bag, drop an empty magazine, etc. I’d like to see the remains of these items remain persistently on the ground – at least for a time. They could be picked up and/or moved by players but if not could leave a “trail of events” for the next experienced survivor that comes by. For example you walk in to a town, and upon exploring a barn you see an expended magazine, several dead zombies that died of gunshot wounds, and an empty blood bag outside on the ground – you now know that there was recently a cooperating group in the area with at least one military grade weapon. Had they been more careful in hiding their tracks they may have forever been unnoticed. This would add a huge element of excitement for the surveil and survive style of player - the careless would leave a trail. Sniping – in my opinion sniping needs to be re-worked simply because it’s so damn effective. First thing to change needs to be grass and underbrush disappearing after 100 meters or so which makes it virtually impossible not to be spotted (this would also help with tents being more easily hidable). After that, extremely long range guns such as the AS 50 should not be able to be fired farther than a few hundred meters unless prone on the ground, and certainly not from standing. I think that the AS 50 in particular should have to be set down on the ground and then utilized as an emplaced weapon to make longer range shots, so that the player can’t just switch to “run and gun” mode the second he sees somebody closely attacking him. He should have to rely on other players helping him for closer range support, or a backup gun. Anybody who’s ever held a .50 caliber rifle knows that the gun would be completely ineffective from a standing position. Birds – I’d like to see smaller birds take off in startled flight and and/or animals run when loud shots are suddenly fired. If you’re in a city and you hear a sniper shot you can look to the treeline and try to see if there are any startled birds flying in to the sky to get a fix on roughly which direction the guy is in, etc. Vehicle Repair – In a real life situation you can “reserve” your vehicle for you just by taking out the spark plugs. I’d like to see something similar in Dayz since vehicles remain when you get off the server and are a lot harder to hide. Maybe not spark plugs but I’d like to see players at least able to take off a wheel or two and hide it in a remote tent (the same way you put on a wheel) before they log off so that somebody who finds your vehicle hideout at least has to work a little bit for it. Rare encounters – possibility of roving military patrols that will go from one area of a map to another with orders to “clear the quarantine area” meaning KOS. It would take a coordinated ambush and a lot of risk to take them down but would be well worth it in gear/ammo if you could do it. They could travel at walking speed through the map on roads maybe with a truck or two driving slowly so that once spotted you could have time to run ahead/set up an ambush with some fellow survivors if you knew which way they were going. Plants/Gardens – ability to plant plants that would persist on the server and grow and provide food after a few days that you could plant in a forest or field depending on the seed. Would make more fun things to do “at the camp”. Hunting – add deer/elk/bears. They will get spooked and run if you don’t kill them with one shot or get too close (no more hunting with a Makarov or hatchet). Make hunting things other than livestock (which are near towns and thus a little bit dangerous to hunt) a little more challenging and require use of a larger caliber bullet and risk of noise. Burying bodies/loot/trash – should take longer and the ground be slightly changed afterwards so a curious player could dig up the grave and see what’s there. If players want to bury bodies (or loot) they should have to drag or bring it to an obscure spot if they want to ensure nobody finds it. Character classes – mind you, not your typical “engineer, support, recon” or any of that. Choose between a few character types with slight differences and maybe give one additional starting item depending on which you chose – here’s a few ideas: Soldier: Maybe start with an M9 or camo clothing. Slightly faster runner and more physically in shape so he can have slightly more health and a better chance to survive short falls. (more likely to spawn at airstrip or military blockade?) Civilian townsman – Start with toolbox or local map. (More likely to spawn in small town?) Good at gardening to get more produce than average (see above plants entry), cars take slightly less damage while he is driving them due to being “used to driving in the area”. Local Hunter: Could start with a hatchet/hunting knife. Ability to get more meat from animals, better ability to creep silently and an run faster up/down hills due to hiking boots. (More likely to spawn in wilderness or outside of a town?) Businessman/medical professional – Could start with a few extra medical supplies. Could make a splint using harvested wood (acts as morphene), and revive unconscious players by using CPR (acts as epi pen). (More likely to spawn in big city near hospital or near military hospital area) Survivalist/Alex Jones fan – Could start with a compass and/or personal map indicating a stash of “preperedness gear” somewhere on the map that would have some supplies and possibly a rile and some ammo if he found it. Slightly better at shooting assault rifles and pistols accurately due to preperedness practice. Maybe able to assemble a tent/firearm with other items due to survivalist knowledge (Likely to spawn in towns, cities, or outskirts of town).-

    Private Hive Spawn Locations

Anyone got a tutorial for how to get more vehicles to spawn on my Bliss Private hive... i can see them in the database, but I cant even get the locations to change...
  16. nope, but we do have less dark time.. 5 hours instead of the normal.. 24/7 on our server stands for vehicles //smKes

    Private Hive Spawn Locations

Bliss hive seems to have like 50-50 of the same spawns, with a few non-DayZ/non-Banned vehicles in. SUV are pretty nice and fast. As per the location, like the above said, taking what they had, and (slowly, since it's such a pain in the ass) move the spawns a bit so they're not identical. Way more interesting that way, plus many servers run anywhere from like 24 to 100+ vehicles. :)
  18. I have a private server up and running and had a question about the vehicle spawn. I've read things like there being four motorcycles per server yet in all of the locations I've looked, only one motorcycle has turned up. And the V3S Civilian isn't in either of the locations that others have said it is in. So are vehicles have a % chance to spawn in one of those locations each time the server is reset or do they just eventually spawn? How does this process work? I do know that no one else has taken the vehicle already because currently I'm the only one playing. I'm thinking about adding a few people but I'm still trying to find the best way to go about finding trusted players who will agree to play by a rule set on this server. If anyone is interested in playing on this server send me a message. The idea behind this server is: Zombies are based on slow walking zombies like seen in Night of the living dead and Walking dead TV show. There are also tons of Zombies so sometimes it does get a little scary if your not careful as you will find yourself in the middle of 100+ zombies. We plan to hold weekly events where we have two groups, bandits and survivors. During these events the two groups fight eachother for control over rights to a select city. The winning group gets to claim this city and kill off the other group should they attempt to tresspass at anytime during the week. PvP will be limited so that the game isn't sorely based off PvP and leans more on survival. The only time PvP will take place is during events or if you find someone tresspassing through your land. Suggestions will be welcomed. Just not sure how to go about selecting those who would be interested at this time. Sorry this post strayed from the main topic. Any help on the vehicle spawn would be appreciated.
  19. The most reassuring thing amidst reading the posts upset about "people kill people :(" is that Rocket has constantly stated with absolution that players will be the biggest threat in the game by design. This obviously means player VERSUS player will be a cornerstone of the game. Not just shooting people, but "versus" player in terms of vying for resources/vehicles/camp sites/etc. If this make you upset and you want to play "Fischer Price Presents: Zombie Tickle Carnival" where all you do is team up with people who can't hurt you to kill zombie AI, then you should take this opportunity to seek a new game that's marketed accordingly. DayZ will forever be focused around PvP elements with the other criteria (zombies included) being supporting mechanics for the PvP aspect. This is what makes it different from the other games, and why DayZ is and will continue to be awesome. I have no problems if it drives away the crowd that is hoping for a PvE focused game.
  20. Just to remind , vilayer currently supports only 30 vehicles per server. Hopefully they will understand it's very low and increase it in the near future ... If not guess i'll just try to find somebody else or stop with the hosting idea :P.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.6 Rolling Update

Plz for the love of DayZ. Fix Vehicle spawns. :( After a hacker blow up all the vehicles on the server since this Patch, for over a week now only Bikes and boats have spawned on our server. Oh and crashed choppers, Hackers got baned of cause. No other vehicles are spawning and i'm not the only admin that is saying this. My server players have dropped from a full server to a empty server in the last week because of this. All but the regulars players which are also slowly getting bored. Standalone is 2 months or so from release and DayZ community is dropping fast. At least fix the vehicle spawn if nothing else, so we may be able to keep the public dayz server open and active till standalone.
  22. There are settings now for admins that allow wiping of the out of map areas, so players and clans can't hide their bases and vehicles! Some servers have it some don't. I was a camp destroyer, walking the length or the outside border was a great day out looking for camps to loot and destroy, but they got sick of hiding stuff on the end of the map and being robbed so they hid their camps further inland.
  23. cash4gold here. After going through some poor gaming experiences today on the Lingor hive's (lack of admins, witnessing admin's on power trips like on the SLAP server, and in one instance a total server nuke while hackers screamed obscenities and racial profanities in voice chat), I decided it was time I dedicate some time and money to contribute back to the community and try to help prevent other players from having to go through that. Started a fresh Lingor server on the Vilayer hive. Configured for the maximum amount of vehicle spawns. Restarts 3 times a day, every 8 hours. Located in Dallas, USA. VOIP disabled. Side chat enabled. Freedom of speech. No racism though please. Mature and active administrators. Friendlies and teamwork encouraged. Please have at it folks. Make my server your server. I work 12 hour nights shifts, and will be able to frequently monitor the server and provide administration if I am currently not in the game. Also my friend and clan mate will also be around frequently to make sure things are running smoothly. Feel free to contact me on steam if needed. 24. If anything the ghillie suited players should have to make a choice, whether to be fully camouflaged or have a big backpack. because not being visible is enough of an advantage in itself, the backpacks not being shown on player models must be a glitch and should be fixed IMO. (yes I've went ghillied up a few times, it really feels like cheating) As for the Hero speed boost, that's a player choice more than anything. I'm a Hero on @Hive servers because of my play style, not because anything was forced upon me. Everybody who only kills in self defence and helps out others has earned that little reward I think. Normal survivors would be moving at normal speed, not slower. The added weight restrictions really would make vehicles a lot more desirable, even more than they are already. The whole vehicle spawn mechanic as it stands in the mod is a bit crap though. Having set spawn points takes the adventure out of finding cars/bikes. Running from one known spawn location to another looking for a car doesn't feel natural, if the spawns were truly random and ANYWHERE on the roads, hillsides, forests and dirt tracks of Chernarus everyone would have the same chances instead of the first come first served way it is now. (I get the distinct feeling sometimes the admins and their buddies have repaired and hidden the chopper on pretty much every server)

    How is survivalservers?

I've been with them nearly a month and it's been good. Just switched to private hive and I'm having some issues with vehicles and crash sites. Still waiting to hear what's wrong. Also no idea how to access this server map as mentioned above. Generally good though 9/10
