DayZ Redux - DayZ purist focused custom DayZ Mod (Formerly DayZ DIAF)
venthos replied to venthos's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This is partly my fault. It's the group that I hang out with when I play (I think my group and BSB/AOD have had helis the most). They know (because they've been playing the longest) that right now the only spawn locations configured for the littlebirds are at NWAF. This is just because I haven't had time to plot out additional spawn points for them. I've scolded them for hoarding helis and was even planning on giving out 2 of the 3 to random coastal people until it turns out parking all 3 on top of the hotel (just to see if we could fit them without crashing) resulted in them all burning up on next server restart. As it stands they only have 1 heli now, and I think another group has a Huey. I plan on spawning new helis much less frequently than new cars. I'm also holding my group I hang with to a 1 heli max. Like you say, it just gets silly otherwise and pretty unfair. Although, the littlebirds are ridiculously easy to shoot down when compared to the hueys. Someone knocked one out of the air the other night with an enfield. If you see one, don't hesitate to fire. I'm not ENTIRELY sure how to combat camp spotting with Helis, but it may just be finding better/alternate ways to store gear than the big tent graphic and then vehicles just being the wildcard that you have to park away from your camp and hope no one grabs it. It's definitely something that needs to at least be thought about and considered. -
DayZ Redux - DayZ purist focused custom DayZ Mod (Formerly DayZ DIAF)
[email protected] replied to venthos's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I'm sure venthos will think of something to make vehicles & tents harder to find from air... But indeed, it's a pity that one group got all 3 helis... no-one stops us from taking those from them tho. -
Yeah, I always thought there should be an "under attack/under fire" detector, to prevent people who are defending themselves from turning into bandits. When you mouse over someone, the game can give you nametags for vehicles (if enabled) They could've used that mechanism to tell if someone was lining up a shot trying to shoot you first, or you attacked them. Atleast you don't lose humanity for a pre-emptive bandit clipping.

Are Choppers needed in DayZ?
Zombie Jesus replied to Jex =TE= (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
See Jex is it so hard to discuss a point without an insult? Who cares about realism, we can just assume that our characters have a military background since they seem to have basic weapon and survival skills since if we get into this whole realism argument our characters would be extremely limited in what they can do. If we go with a strict realism argument you might as well get rid of medical system, shooting, fixing cars, running for prolonged periods, and other skills that not everyone has. As far as advantages I will say it again, this game is not about balance. If it was we would have starting loadouts because the guy with an AKM shooting at the guy with a double barrel shotgun is unfair as well. Why should someone who is good at the game or has put in the massive amount of work that goes with finding and repairing a helicopter be punished because they now have a legitimate advantage over other players. The advantage was not easily obtained and the helicopters are very rare and stay destroyed for up to 7 days so they are not a common occurrence on regular servers, not really seeing why this is some huge problem that can not be solved with a few minor tweaks. Helicopters are rather easy to take down and almost every player will attempt to shoot at the players in a helicopter and the helicopter itself so it does come with significant drawbacks. Your argument about ease of travel applies to vehicles and I have used an offroad truck to effectively search for campsites and hidden vehicles in the past, so many of your points transfer over to items, weapons, and vehicles that you seem to be perfectly fine with (this is why people assume you are butthurt about a particular incident, maybe you are not but you can at least see why some would think that). We will most likely disagree on this topic no matter what either of us says, just try not to get so worked up over this shit it really is not worth it and the reason you get harsh responses is completely on you. When the majority of people respond negatively to the way you are acting it is not an indication that everyone else is stupid. -

DayZ Redux - DayZ purist focused custom DayZ Mod (Formerly DayZ DIAF)
beatuhse replied to venthos's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Is that natural in this mod that there are so much more zombies than in the original mod? I saw a zombie spawn happening twice. No offense , I'm just curious. Another thing that there are 2 littlebirds in the mod? One new vehicle is okay , it's a good idea for transporting , but two? A group owns all of the helicopters and that's 3. (Or maybe more , I don't know.) I'm not butthurt because they got the helis. I'm just saying that 3 helis are too much in my opinion. Even if the littlebirds got no guns. They just kinda own the whole map if we are talking about vehicles. :| Oh , I have forgotten. Did you fixed that if you save something in your tent , after a server restart there will be the saved stuff in it? I know you fixed the item doubling , but was that meant to be fixing this feature too? -
How do you check the gear from inside vehicle?
Derpy_Hooves (DayZ) replied to Mark88's topic in New Player Discussion
if you can find the option outside the vehicle then simply jump into the vehicle, open your map. goto inventory then click "Gear" and you will have access to the vehicles storage menu -
I may make my server a RP server when I'm done modding it. So far I have made the zombies walk only, increased there numbers, they spawn and attack vehicles if your in them, and loot spawns while in vehicles. Also added sandbags to industrial spawns and increased tent spawn rate in stores. Still trying to figure out what else I want to change on my server before I decide anything else.

Are Choppers needed in DayZ?
Bakst replied to Jex =TE= (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So I gathered from some of the more relevant posts on this thread that the chopper is the ultimate camp-busting machine and also provides an unfair advantage in locating other vehicles by radar. I've only flown a heli twice in my time on Chernarus and never used it to locate camps (believe it or not that never occurred to me), so I can't comment on that, though I certainly believe it. But these are issues that can be easily fixed with a few tweaks, rather than taking helis out of the game completely. Imo that's the way to go, because having airborne threats really adds excitement to the game. Like I said: I'd like to see aircraft stay in DayZ and hopefully they will have a larger role to play in the SA, albeit tweaked so that they don't provide a totally unfair advantage. -
looking for players to play with
boxman80 replied to cheez117's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hi, you are welcome to check us out at The BSB Network. We're a social gaming community that is dedicated to fair and fun gaming. We have over 200 players in various Fire teams and groups playing Day Z and using our Teamspeak Server to communicate and coordinate their scavenges and raids. These teams have several bases, vehicles, camps and play across several of our own home servers. The community is mostly adult gamers over the age of 20 (well over in most cases!) but there are no age, time or skill requirements - all we ask is you play fair and have a bit of common sense about you! Our members are based all over the world and are on at all times of the day and night, but all speak English and most are based in the UK and Mainland Europe with some in the US too. We've been gaming as a community since 2002, so we're not some ad-hoc fly by night clan that's been quickly set up and will be gone in the blink of an eye! There is no obligation to join our clan or any of our affiliated clans/groups to take part in our sessions though, everyone is free to urn up and get involved. If you're interested check out or website @ www.bsbnetwork.com and try to hop on our Teamspeak 3 server and say "hi!" 212.187.246.58:9140 -
I tried getting on US 1993 because thats usually a clean server where me and some of my friends play, but when I got on today there were tall buildings and battleships spawned EVERYWHERE around the map, plus vehicles. It made the sever RIDICULOUSLY laggy. I was wonder if there was anyone out there that could "clean-up" the server back to its original state.

Are Choppers needed in DayZ?
ZomboWTF replied to Jex =TE= (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"it's not what you put into a game that makes it great, it's what you leave out of it" Of course we could add jetpacksand lazorguns and all that shit to dayZ, but that wont make it a better game, dayz in fact is way too easy it is right now, and balance is important in EVERY game, even if rocket calls it an anti-game without balance, everyone will run around with the best shit example: every duper runs around with L85 and AS50, guess why, they are OP as shit in comparison to other stuff, just like NVGs have no downside at all, it isnt even irritated by rain, which in RL is a huge problem, and things without downsides are never good for a game, at least not if those things are so common i'm not a fan of the L85, AS50 and NVG awesomeness, with the standalone they wil require much more care and batterys, which is awesome, i hope they reconsider the shoot-your-toe-drop-dead-oneshot stuff as well with the .50s however, back to the helo, its just THE anti-camp thing there is, its not especially good in fights, nor bad, and risky since .50s tear it apart, but the bugged view of tents and vehicles and the big white indicators for cars and other hueys when flying a day makes it just to much to easy lets just make it the servers choice if they want to have a huey or not, and be good with it -
Firstly, the Clan itself is great, community was fun and everything was seemingly great. Only problem is the server admin The name is ZombieHords, when I was apart of that clan we playing on a fervently hacked server we finally called it quits and decided on renting out own private hive. It was all well and good until one of the server admins started hacking in guns, ammo, gear and vehicles for player. Now the other Server admin, was pissed at this, because the only way we were getting in hacked in gear is if we pay a nominal fee, "Server upkeep" he keeps calling it. That I don't mind at all because it keeps the server running. The gear the Admin scripts in doesn't save on a restart so we are re spawned in our gear, which would be nice if he would actually spawn in our gear the day he says he is, not a week later. Well the community grew and with it came more responsibility for the Admin. Let's just skip to this mornings wonderful blunder from our Admin. We, as in we I mean my own team, were apparently the best because of what our admin told us, the entirety of complaints were directed towards us from the rest of the community. Now, we find in a complete hacked in camp totaling three ammo boxes full of everything and about 20 tents full of, again, everything you can get from the arma game. We bring it to the Admins attention and guess what happens, this is the best part. WE GET KICKED OFF THE SERVER FOR HACKING. So I get into chat with our admin and we're discussing what happened and his entire point of view, as he loved to reciprocate was; "I'm under a lot of stress because all this petty bullshit is coming t me." Derp, you chose to be the server admin, you chose the responsibility and chose to deal with the bullshit, it's called your job, not your excuse. Another point he tried to make was: "You guys were hacking because one of your members walked to the hacker camp in a straight line." He was kicked from the server because he went back to the camp that we were exactly at the night before in a firefight with the camp's team. Read that again, I swear to god word for word that's what he said. Please tell me that makes any kind of logical sense. Finally he wants to try the "I found all this gear in your pack so it's hacked and you're hackers." I totally forgot it's impossible to actually go out in DayZ and find equipment and store it, so sorry. Yes, we did take some of the hacked in gear so we can show him the evidence. Nope, he didn't care we were the hackers. ad we were kicked, and he doesn't want to listen because he doesn't care as a Clan leader and a server admin. Now to add on to this the server admin finally gets his bunched up panties out of his ass and calms down and says this to my friend, me listening in the background. 'It wasn't a hacked in camp from another player, I hacked in all this gear, you guys (us) fully knew what was happening and still stole the hacked in gear, and me, not being in game at the time but in the Raidcall (voip) is a hacker sympathizer and is equally being kicked. Let me reiterate just in case you guys missed something: We find a hacker camp, made by the server admin, unknowing it was made by the server admin, took the gear to show it to the admin to find out who hacked in the gear, was accused of hacking in the weapons themselves and afterwards accused of stealing hacked gear and kicked out of the server for being a hacker sympathizer. So guys, if you want to spend time and money dealing with an immature admin who likes to sweep his mess under the rug so he doesn't have to deal with it and call it doing his job. Please by all means, ZombieHords is the best place to go.

Why aren't tents and vehicle slots temporarily disabled yet?
Inception. replied to Sakeoe (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Pathetic evidence to base a serious accusation upon, if I might say. Collecting gear and vehicles over a long period of time; amassing it up so large that you have no need for it...but then you lose it. All of that hard work gone in an instant--that gives one the right to be 'scared'. Tell me, have you ever lost such a large quantity of gear--more than a full URAL and V3S combined-- in an instant? -
Why aren't tents and vehicle slots temporarily disabled yet?
Inception. replied to Sakeoe (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"Yet" you state that as if such a thing--disabling tents and vehicle storage slots-- was stated by the devs to happen, when in fact it was not... Nothing, aside from tents, should be disabled until a fix has been found. Disabling tents and vehicles won't solve duping. You can dupe via clothing. Scripting needs to be fixed as well, apart of this. -

Dayz Commander is created by the amateur hosters. Tried it and it's a shitty version I think. Lots of things floating in the air. It was a quick butcher job of an already good map. And they unban other vehicles to attract more people. Sad. Too bad all those using dayz commander version will have to play on a poorly remade map, and suffer the consequences of being quicked from the better version. 2 thumbs down for Vilayer. -
DayZ US 1082 Chernarus - PVT HIVE - Survival Servers
Bernardo (DayZ) posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hi, I have a PVT hive server which has about 10 people currently playing. I have room for an additional 30 Slots. The server is password protected and will give out the password if people are friendly and will not hack, trash other people's stashes and kill players on site. If you would like to join the server please emai me at: [email protected] Please state your player name and any other people who you play with, so I know who you are and not to delete you when running maintenance. There are currently 77 vehicles in the game and more will be added when I understand the location thing, but there will probably just be a mass spawn in electro. I will respond to emails as soon as I can. -
Are Choppers needed in DayZ?
jdz (DayZ) replied to Jex =TE= (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My 2cents - No Now, I know DayZ isn't about balance at all but with how the current loot spawns, helicopters are just waaaay to fucking powerful of a tool. Use this as an example - Team A gets a helicopter working, they can search the whole map for all of the vehicles within an hour and take them away to their base. After a server restart they can search for all of the crashed helicopters in the map and get all of the best guns without having much risk involved at all. Now, if AS50s,M107s and L85s spawned at the barracks then this wouldn't be as much of an issue but they don't and they are far to easy to acquire (duping aside) Now you may say "Oh but there are 2-3 helicopters on each server" Well what is to stop 1 team taking all of the other helicopters back to their base? Along with all of their vehicles. Do helicopters belong in DayZ? No, not at all. They take away much more than they add -
DayZ Redux - DayZ purist focused custom DayZ Mod (Formerly DayZ DIAF)
Angmooren replied to venthos's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I personally have played on DayZ redux for a few days now and find the difficulty a welcome change. the loss of sniper rifles IS A GOOD THING. i feel this promotes people to actually play together and form squads and build actual survival stories. Rather than have it be a one man tank buster armed to the teeth with thirty vehicles stashed somewhere, being overjoyed when you find a bloody AK-47 is a welcome change from merely tossing those in the "trash" I look forward to playing on this server for a long time to come. Most of my friends do as well. ~Angmooren P.S: i too have seen a major jump in the server population. when i first rolled my character there were around 15 people on, which quickly dropped as it got later and later into the morning, i look foward to posting this on the forums i belong to, to spread the server. -
scavenging is one of the most fun things I've done in dayz, hop onto an empty server, and you can just spend hourd and hours discovering stuff by simply looting places. for example, ever since I started looting, I discovered weapons such as the svd camo, the m16a4 acog, the m4a3 cco, all the machine guns, the m4a1 holo m203, the multi color flares and the hand grenades (oh the hand grenades), I discovered things I've heard from but never seen, such as ammo boxes, sand bags, I discovered that things like engine parts and main rotor assemblies are one of the rarest spawns (although nobody picks them up on hipop servers), and especially I discovered the technique of loot cycling, I've repaired tons of vehicles and learned to drive them, learned what is hazardrous and what terrains allow for what, and the very few human interactions are the most intereeting experiences I had. dayz really offers a lot even played as a single player game.

Broken vehicles flooding RPT file
Frop replied to Gand (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yes, I did. I had the same problem with the chopper last week and was able to fix it due to some helpful suggestions (you will need at least one buddy to help you out though). I assume you're able to determine the location of those vehicles with the entries in the .RPT file (if not, just let us know). http://dayzmod.com/f...or/#entry923246 -

Fixing the tree issue or removing 3 vehicles from the game affects the balance and ruins it? Try reading my post again moron,. -
Unfortunatley you picked a bunch of arseholes to play with. Most clans are not like this and will be happy to help you. My advise would be to stick with them till you get as many as you can around you and when you get your chance gun them all down blow up their vehicles and destroy their tents then leave with your head held high

Dayz Panthera - Official downloads, info and discussion
avid_gamer replied to mrsherenai's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
As i was part of working on the testing on this map, I know for a fact that the Coding was custom, the map is on Armaholic for anyone to download, someone in here acts like they made the map... Well i can tell you the maps might be the same... but the ViLayer Panthera is quite unique... right down to the vehicle placement. The amount of zombies spawning is great.. all of the ViLayer maps have had an overhaul with more loot, more vehicles. Way to go ViLayer team.
