Indeed so, but another thing is, everyday theres a new player coming onto this website, trying to figure what to do, once he gets the game installed he starts looking for a server, where does he start? The private hive discussion! Guess what, if the front page is filled with APACHES APACHES AS50'S LOADOUT! guess what just happend, you just ruined an experience for a new player, I and every single DayZ Vet know that the first time you play DayZ is probably the best, and we want new players to have that experience, not some jets or heli action, because, that is NOT DAYZ, simple as that.

Ironically, you really dont. Side channel is a luxury, not a necessity. Its no fun being able to chat with someone whos 15km away from you, now is it?

I took a look at your server and it looked all good. Sadly, its not Vanilla, you stated this: "Completely vanilla DayZ experience" Then i noticed you have side channel enabled, side channel is not a vanilla feature my good friend.

Oh man, when i use to admin my DayZ server i would be playing with .pbo's all day everyday, i promised myself im never touching one of those things again, they just kill you dont they? I also had a similar issue, toying with things to much can and will break other things on the server.

But is it to hard to take an extra day to get gear? Whats the fun in getting everything at once? It will only add more tension, because loosing gear that took you days to get is a lot worse then loosing gear that took you one hour to get. People these days >.<

Indeed, maybe like how it use to be on DayZ When there was ONE helicopter per server, and it would take hours to fix. I miss those days when owning a helicopter in DayZ was the impossible, but not now, hah, you find them everywhere!

Oh those are a pain, even worse, i once joined a server that had claimed "Hardcore", I spawned in, checked my gear, i was loaded with an M14, NVG's, M9SD, blood bags, coyote backpack, morphine, and even antio-biotics! Maybe they meant Hardcore survival from the bandits? Pfft

Oh yes, their are still a large number of players that still play DayZ, at least still enough to have some fun!

By active i assume you mean the server pop? Well ive never actually played on it but im sure many oldstyle hardcore DayZ players crave a server like this, so i would imagine a server like this may have a good population, but no promises.

To start off you need to find a good server, now by ALL MEANS do not join a server advertising "Apaches, 600+ Vehicles" or any bullshit like that, find a good hardcore server, something with low vehicles, you want the true DayZ feeling, not an Arma feeling. Quite honestly i couldnt reccomend an exact server, but avoid the servers i described the best you can. Ill look around and see if i can find a good server for you. Edit: After five minutes of searching i found this, these guys look like good admins, and 42 vehicles is still pretty high from the original vanilla DayZ buts it probably the lowest you will find anywhere now a days. This wouldnt be half bad, espicially with a weapon custimzation where you could take it off and maybe just have iron sights.
