I like the idea of minimal starting gear, lower spawns for food and weapons, very very rare high end weaponry and limited vehicles (as in vanilla). -
Want Lee-Enfield or CZ550, trading DMR (2 magazines), PDW (several magazines), rangefinder, NVGs, GPS, most supplies

Some interesting ideas. I think the % chance of spawning with some random gear is a nice thought but i just imagine massive suicides on the beaches of Chernarus until someone spawns with a gun. For me i would like to see players spawn with a bandage and that's it, but that's personal opinion. I just imagine the player having washed up on shore rather than being a long term survivor. Some of your ideas are planned for SA (gas masks, jackets, melee weapons, weapon degradation, defibrillators etc). As for unenterable areas - do you mean without proper gear etc? I can imagine underground areas being pitch black and some zones being hazardous i suppose. -

I agree, eastern bloc weapons should be the staple with the occasional crashed NATO chopper, plane etc to provide a few western weapons for variety.

Gummy. You are right - there is no reason to trust Bohemia and Rocket about the work they are doing just on their say so. I suppose hope is a better word than trust. I hope the work they are doing is going to improve the SA above the mod. From what little of it you have seen so far don't you think there have been improvements? -
Rather than saying less military gear i would prefer to find weapons that you would realistically find in Eastern Europe. I don't have a clue about gun laws and controls in other countries but here in Australia i wouldn't know where to find a gun - police station, army barracks, farmhouse? Would you really find Winchesters or Lee Enfields in Eastern Europe? What commonly found guns would you see - AK's?

I don't actually think it takes too long for man made structures and roads to fall apart without proper maintenance. I know that where i live every time there is a heavy downpour huge pot holes appear on the roads and need continually fixing. If the roads were left alone for 6 months they would be washed away. Vegetation as well runs rampant if left untended for any length of time. Granted, Queensland isn't the same as Eastern Europe but it would surprise people to know what happens without our intervention (anyone seen that documentary Life After People? Great show) I know what you mean about food and ammo though - after a few months most of it would have been looted. Stuff you found would most likely be stashed away in cupboards, basements, cellars etc -

We will all be running around with motorbike helmets in SA as they are the best defence against baseball bats, cricket bats, golf clubs and planks of wood to the head. -
Rocket has said that since loot will be able to spawn pretty much anywhere then that has allowed them to drop the percentages right down. I am not sure if this means AS50's will be able to be found in houses though, surely there will still be loot tables for particular building types? As far as food goes i would like to see cans be quite rare. I want Bean Warz 2.

Balota airfield is a good place but be careful as it is very rarely free of players. The nearby medical base across the main road from the airfield has deer stands which can yield some good gear. As said Fire houses are a good source but can be a player magnet. In Cherno the military tents close to the hospital are good as well.

Gummy - I think the work being done is vastly underestimated. The Cheranrus map has undergone a big change for a start. Most buildings are enterable, there are new areas and new towns, with more and more content being added. The zombies have been completely redone as has the inventory system. A new skeleton has been created and all the items in game are now objects meaning crafting and attachments are now possible. Not to mention the work being done to turn DayZ SA into a MMO rather than just a large mutliplayer game. Not having vehicles on the release is a bummer to some (not me by the way) but i think the decision to make vehicles better to handle rather than simply port over the Arma 2 handling was made. Why not add new features such as radios, clothing, weapon handling, player movement? We all want to see something new and fresh. I think you would probably be the first to complain if the mod was just ported over as is. -
Yep, from what i understand(?) the water has to be at 0 elevation, so creating rivers would mean gouging into the landscape. Since rivers have varying elevations as they come down from mountains this would probably create a Grand Canyon effect as the river cuts through the terrain. The various lakes dotted around are actually separate objects.

Hello there. Sorry to hear you haven't played the mod yet. Are you waiting for Standalone? I too was introduced to DayZ through Youtube when it was first released and i spent a week or so of watching Youtubers before i eventually bought Arma 2 CO. If you have Steam you can sometimes get the game on special. As for your ideas: 1 - not sure if smell is going to be a feature of the zombies but it would be interesting if they were attracted to wounded or blood spattered players. 2 - like Beast says rain lowers your hearing and seeing icons so in heavy rain the zombies do aggro less 3 - i can see this being implemented at some point, it makes sense especially if your buddy is unconscious or has a broken leg and you want to get him out of there. PS: Sorry about your WarZ experience -

I would imagine players using the radios to eavesdrop on other players rather than using them with friends instead of TS/Skype. Like you say people aren't going to give up TS/Skype. But then again you will probably be able to scan frequencies and possibly chat to people you don't know or haven't met yet. Send out an SOS and see who comes to your "rescue"
