Its the old supply and demand. A lot of players want servers where everything is there ready for them so more of these starter gear, 900 vehicle servers are available. This is what happens when servers are customisable and why i think a lot of players may be in for a rude shock when the Standalone hits.

It is an interesting suggestion in that upon spawning your first priority should be to find food, water and medicine rather than making a direct bee-line for your old body. If we are to assume you have washed up on the beach (?) then it stands to reason you probably aren't in the best of health.

(SA) Military weapons are getting rarer, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be lots of guns to choose from.

Yep, i agree with all. Removing gear, repacking the tent, setting fire to it...why not. It would even be nice if you could lay in wait inside one as well. -
Well to whoever told you the current mod isn't any good - i don't agree. There are so many varieties of the mod atm you should be able to find whatever playstyle you want - loads of vehicles, heavy PvP, starter gear...vanilla even! If you were about to get Arma2: CO then go for it. Download DayZ Commander or Play With Six and you can jump on the many maps available. And remember Arma 2 is a pretty good game (with other mods as well) in its own right.

You could even use an item (ie: bedsheet) and "craft" makeshift bandages or tourniquets for future use.

There is an apple grove near Berzinho, normally quite eery and quiet. I got hatcheted to death there by some creepy guy once so i never go back. Scares me just looking at it.

I don't like getting dirty, all that lying in the dirt isn't for me. Give me the streets, the sights and the screaming psychotic zombies of Cherno any day.

Why shut it down? Any strange and mysterious goings on deserve their place and here it is.

Cities are high risk, high reward. One good run through Cherno/Elektro and you can pretty much be fully geared with a decent weapon - if you are lucky. After that, if you so decide, you never have to set foot in a city again. Me though, i'm a city boy - you wont see me running through the fields with the cows - i usually prop up the Cherno pubs.

Buy a ticket to Prague, Czech Republic and head north to Decin, that's the area the map is based on i think. -
Though i don't KOS i can see why they did it. They didn't know you and you were in an area where quite good weaponry can spawn. To them you were a possible threat, though they could have at least spoken to you. All they had to do was tell you to get on the floor and stay put until they left the area. But...in an area like an airfield players get very twitchy fingers.

Tips for finding/repairing vehicles?

I am assuming you are on a "vanilla" server if you are having trouble finding vehicles. Once i logged into a server and a fully fueled and repaired Huey was right next to me on the beach. Finding vehicles is usually hard and people obviously hide them when they find them. There are spawn points for vehicles but i never have much luck finding them there only at camps. Tbh the only vehicle i use nowadays is the bicycle. -
