    DayZ SA: Endgame content

Perhaps there will be Steam achievements (i hope not though). The only achievement to strive for should be to survive for as long as possible.

    The 1.7.7 update favorites

I would actually like it so you can't put a wheel or a helicopter rotor blade in your backpack tbh, but i realise this would make fixing a car/heli nigh on impossible, especially on your own. I have seen suggestions that if you grab a wheel then you have to carry it and not be able to use a weapon until it is dropped. Realistic but i am not too sure if it would go down too well! Being able to put something directly in your backpack is a good idea.

We do have to remember that these changes still need to be ratified and approved by Rocket. Hopefully they are all permitted but it is his baby.

More dense forests and their impact on gameplay

I agree thick forests would be a great addition, but it all comes down to the limitations of the game and PC's. Rather than having all the forests thick perhaps certain regions have thick vegetation.
  5. Two of the biggest exploits in the DayZ mod will hopefully be fixed in Standalone. 1) Zombies will be able to follow you by running indoors. 2) You will no longer be able to tell if someone is nearby by the mere fact that zombies have spawned. Add to this there will be a lot more zombies, how do you think this will change your play style, if at all? Yes, i am bored at work again.
  6. The idea of zombies not spawning just because a player is nearby is the one thing to be changed that i like the most. In "reality" if you wanted to know if someone was nearby you would check for any dead zombies, aggroed zombies, gunshots etc. Scouting a town shouldn't be any different to how i do it now, the only major change will be the uncertainty of not knowing if the town is occupied or not.

    Oldest characters

Can't really remember but it was months back when i was playing 3-4 hours a day. I think the longest survivor was about 30-40 days. Now, due to the fact i rarely travel further than Balota, Cherno and Elektro i am lucky to last 0-4 days. But they are fun days.

I remember reading how all water in Arma needs to be at sea level, except for the lakes which are actually objects. So to have rivers the land would have to be gouged out so it is at sea level. As for Fallout 3 - i remember that quest well, it was the first one i got. A real buzz taking out that bandit base.

New patch coming soon to dayz

I'd say you should only get humanity if you bloodbag strangers. Why get humanity if you bloodbag friends just because you got shot or hit by a zombie? Humanity is how you view the world and other humans not loved ones and friends. How this mechanic could possibly be put in game however is up to those programmer wizard types with their voodoo magic.
  10. True - i am sure the SA will have its fair share of exploits. Hopefully they are ironed out as the alpha progresses.

No i am sure he says June 3rd.
  13. Tek I realise these are all because of the mod's design but the fact is these mechanics are exploited to make the game easier. All i am saying is if these mechanics are fixed in the SA how do you think the game, and your tactics, will change? I am not judging people for utilising the faults of the mod. Like being able to peek around and over walls in 3rd person, if it is in game then you can't tell people not to do it. I am not suggesting for one moment that players shouldn't run indoors to escape zombies or use the current zombie spawning mechanic that tells you someone is nearby. I use these myself. I also do not knock banditry. Without bandits DayZ would be boring. I have said that many times. I am merely asking what if? So keep your knickers on.

I either go Braveheart or the really old guy. Aviators of course.

Toggle between In-Game view and Desktop

I learnt the beauty of Alt-Tab at work for when you quickly want to change your window back to work stuff.

Very nice work, Grimzentide. Keep us up to date once the textures are complete.

Chernarus Dating Agency: Hi i'm Matt. I like nothing better than moonlight walks on the Bean Coast and hacking bandits to death with my hatchet. It gets lonely since the Apocalypse, so girls, if any of you require bloodbagging or any other "injection" then be sure to holler "Friendly" next time you see me.
  18. Insofar as losing LOS - the exploit i am talking about is the fact you know that zombies can only walk indoors and so this is why players don't bother to be stealthy in towns as they know zombies can be easily lost. Having zombies run indoors will make it a little harder to lose them. Zombies spawning only when players are nearby is the best way of knowing that someone is close. This is the exploit - you know someone is close and you act accordingly. In SA zombies are spawned regardless and so you will have no way of knowing (barring seeing aggro in town). If you use these exploits in game atm then you will probably have to change your tactics. This has nothing to do with being a bandit or survivor. Why are bandits so sensitive to any form of perceived criticism? So passive aggressive shots aren't cool but KOS is OK? LOL.

RIP poor Ivan. From Greek prison to zombie food. EDIT: Also the buildings seem to have lost their colour in game. Very bright in real Chernarus

    Only Using the Hatchet

You are not alone. There is nothing better than hacking a camping bandit to death.
  21. I know, strange but i think i will miss some of the mod's glitches. Not for any reason but sentimentality. Getting Mike Tyson'd through a wall, breaking legs from a door....classic DayZ.
  22. Yeah the pine tree exploit is one that needs changing. The ladder one is weird that's for sure but as someone told me just pretend you climb out the window next to it. Server hopping/Combat logging is going to be recorded i think and warnings dished out if it is done too often etc. 3rd person is a another story completely. I cant envisage it being removed, we will prob just have to be content with 1st person only servers like now.
  23. Hey Oscar, likewise. I have actually been testing the upcoming 1.7.7 build so i haven't been on any other servers for a while. I'll try and get back on again soon, it was good fun.
