    Circumventing Permadeath

    This has always been an issue to me but i don't really think there is a solution. If you kill someone you kind of expect to be able to loot them and their camp, if the camp disappeared on their death then it doesn't reward me if i stalked them until i found their camp. Like others have said it may just come down to play style. I try never to run back to my dead body and i very rarely set up a camp. I just can't be bothered when i actually find the initial gearing up/scavenging part of DayZ the most enjoyable moments of the game.

    Perhaps there should be a 0.0001% chance you spawn as a rat. Of course zombies would have to try and eat you as well, otherwise it would get pretty boring.

    Boiled water is clean and free from infection. Water straight from a pond etc has a chance of making you sick. I think you need water from a pond and a tin and you can boil the water at a fire to make it Boiled Water and therefore safe to drink.

    I agree. I think the clothing should not only be totally random, but damaged as well.

    Not sure if anyone read Rocket's response on reddit regarding the damage shown on the Devblog. There was a bug in that the full damage of the weapon was applied to the clothing and all items in that clothing, meaning all items were fully damaged and destroyed. The real concept is the damage is given to items until the damage points are used up. From reddit: "So if you are hit with a damage of 4.2, and 2 damage is used to destroy the vest, it leaves 2.1 damage left for everything else. Say the shirt gets destroyed with 0.5 damage, it leaves 1.6 damage for the items. Take off 0.5 for the can of beans, that leaves 1.1, take off 1 for a hammer, and you have 0.1 left that might slightly damage another item in your inventory."

    From what i understand there is only one character much like the mod. I would actually prefer a one player/one username scenario that way you will be held accountable for your gamestyle in that you could earn yourself a bad/good reputation. I think, for example, some players hide behind the fact they can change their username as often as they like.

    In an ideal world the damage would be confined to the area shot and only damage equipment in that particular zone. Not sure how difficult this would be to implement though, especially with all the items that will be in game.

    I believe Rocket was showing off the damage concept, in that gear can get damaged, rather than a final product.

    I agree. I'd hope that firing a weapon in SA is somewhat of a last resort because ammo and guns are quite rare.
  18. One thing i do not understand is with all the 1st person advocates why there aren't that many 1st person only servers. I actually don't believe that the servers are 3rd enabled because that is what everyone wants. I believe most of the servers are 3rd enabled so that is where people play. There is a big difference. There is obviously a large number of players that would actually prefer 1st only but for whatever reason (usually because 1st only are poorly populated) this has created a Catch 22 situation. I want to play on 1st only but because no one else does i play on 3rd enabled servers. In an ideal world there would be more than enough servers for everyone. I sometimes wonder if 90% of DayZ players actually know what type of server they are on or they just jump on one with a good ping and decent player count.
  19. Be nice if those gas canisters could be blown up as well with a well placed satchel charge or grenade.
  20. There are injured poses and animations in SA but like you say i'm not sure how long these last once you are "healed". Dealing with a bullet wound could also include something other than a single bandage. I imagine getting shot is a recipe for major infection.
  21. Hmmm i like the cobweb idea. Maybe dust footprints inside as well if someone has been there recently.
  22. There was talk of having a helmet cam that greatly affected your vision, but i don't know how this would be implemented in 3rd person for example. Be nice to have a Taunt key as well - what was the mod where you could give someone the finger? A Mooning key.
  23. One of the things i would love to see in Standalone is character customisation as in you select race, gender, age and physical properties (height and weight) That way i can play my 92 year old WW2 vet properly, complete with dodgy hip.
  24. I agree and please don't be sorry for bursting any of my bubbles. Clothing sizes would become a pain in the ass. Finding the right sized jacket, shoes and jeans would become a major chore. In so far as the clothing implementations you mention though both wear and tear as well as clothing having effects on warmth/cold are going to be in Standalone. Rocket himself has mentioned that you may have to make a choice: "Do i want this fluro rain jacket to keep me warm and dry but highly visible or not?"
  25. I suppose it all depends how deep you want the game to go and how far you could push the realism before players got sick to death of doing mundane things. For me the more realism the better but there are limits. I mean you could really go down the complete hardcore path if you wanted to. A stamina system would be highly realistic but in a game like DayZ, slowing to a walk or keeling over after running for 2km would be very frustrating. What i am trying to think of is: In a real apocalypse scenario what items would be invaluable to have and what things could have a detrimental effect on your health?
