Give me one logical reason why gear destruction will delay KOS
DemonGroover replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The game wont be an FPS KoS deathmatch if there aren't many bullets. I really hope bullets are worth their weight in gold. -
The more skins the better i suppose. Id rather have more variety than see a survivor skin though. Where are the Firemen?

People! Tiny mistakes can mean the difference between life and death!
DemonGroover replied to bfisher's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Are you sure the zip sound wasn't from one of the guy's trousers? Gets lonely in the apocalypse. Then you killed them. Heartless. -
Killing zombies needs to be a main part of the game? Thoughts?
DemonGroover replied to beavis_5000's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As with most good zombie stories/movies the zombies are the backdrop to the real issues of dealing with other people. I agree that they need to be more of a threat and i honestly believe that the increased number, the ability to run indoors and hopefully a lot better pathfinding will fundamentally change how you enter towns. Stealth or quickly dispatching zombies looks to be the only way otherwise you are doomed. The current mod tactics wont work so well. -
This is true. There is a radio signal from Green Mountain that gives out coords to some of the deer stand locations (in Russian i think).

How did the survivor end up on the beach? (need help for Dayz short film)
DemonGroover replied to DannyFilming's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You seen the Hangover movies? -
There should be no penalties for gameplay style. Rather than penalties i think there should be consequences for actions. What these consequences could be i don't know. Damaging gear is one direction the devs are going.

What happened to good ol' DayZ?
DemonGroover replied to jonnplays's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Strangely enough the private servers that saved the mod also led to it being overrun with custom loadouts, millions of vehicles and versions of DayZ which are a million miles from the original concept. -
Excited About Dayz Standalone & My Story
DemonGroover replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There's an app for that. -
Ive always thought Roman ruins would be quite cool. Altis (Arma 3) has an amphitheatre for example.

I saw a puff of smoke from a nearby grassy knoll. -
Going back to your body to get your gear
DemonGroover replied to bfisher's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have done it before but i'm not a fan of the fact you can loot your own body. In the mod there isn't really much that can be done barring the body disappearing but this then penalises the person that has shot you or finds your body legitimately. I suppose with the SA at least gear would be damaged or destroyed depending on how you died so running to your corpse may not be worth it. -
How to do the Bandit / Hero System in Standalone
DemonGroover replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There is no threat of threads getting locked if there is constructive argument and ideas. I agree that the KoS mentality attitude of some players needs looking into, however i'm not a fan of forced clothing or penalties. For me i would rather a player have to live by his/her actions. If they want to be a bastard bandit killing everyone they meet, fine but there has to be in game consequences to those actions, not penalties. The only idea i see "working" is the name changing idea - everyone gets one username and then they will amass a reputation with that name. It isnt going to stop people KoS but if word gets around that VeryScaryBandit101 shoots fresh spawns he is going to find himself hunted or even have bounties put out on him. Of course then the issue is how would you know a players name? Different body language (animations) based on humanity could also work, i suppose. There was talk of bandits/heroes/survivors having different stances when holding weapons. I also agree that healing friends should not increase humanity. -
Give me one logical reason why gear destruction will delay KOS
DemonGroover replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
KoS = DayZ Easy mode It is the most basic, primitive way to play the game. Fine if you like that but some of us would rather think about that shot before taking it due to ammo being low, attracting zombies or ruining any valuable gear the player might have. -
SA military weapons and accessories, debris
DemonGroover replied to Theheroicbandit's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hmmmm....interesting.....oh sorry, i was looking at something i'd stepped in. Your suggestion? No, sorry, not a fan. Doesn't really fit the whole DayZ post apocalyptic scenario. An Arma mission perhaps? But remember - if you get anymore brainwaves please put them in the same thread so we can all peruse them at our convenience. -
I agree that military grade weapons are too common. For me i believe the most powerful weapons to be found in non military areas should be Enfields and possibly the odd AK. I have never really understood why DMR's and M14's can be found in fire stations but something like a fire axe is nowhere to be found. And btw i want to slide down those fireman's poles as well!

I remember Fallout 3 where you could fill your inventory with various body parts (from Super Mutant's bags i think) and then decorate your house with them.

I don't agree that it is a KoS PvP game. Sure a lot of players do play that way but i don't and i know many players who don't either. It really does depend on the servers you frequent. For me i would like the SA to be such that firing a weapon has to be a thought out process of "Is it really worth it?". I know a lot disagree but i'd rather ammo to be so scarce that every shot has to count. Finding an M4 and then mag after mag of ammo dulls the excitement of finding a decent weapon. My 2 cents anyway.

I wish I could go back in time...

Let's hope the SA brings back a few of those initial feelings -
Nice work.

[SA] Deathmessages - yes or no?
DemonGroover replied to Wayze's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have never understood the need for death messages. So my vote is No. -
I was chatting to an old mate on Skype when he asked if i wanted to jump onto DayZ for a while. Sure, i said. He was part of a clan so i knew he played on particular servers. He gave me the address of a DayZ Overwatch server and i logged in. I knew something was amiss when the first thing i saw upon spawning was 8 motorbikes standing side by side on the road. My next stage of astonishment was the Debug monitor. It actually told me how many players were within 1500m of me! There were literally 100's of vehicles, scores of random barracks and various other high powered shit everywhere. My mate, for some reason, swears by these servers but as i logged off after an hour or so (which basically involved him flying a Huey and me gunning down every single bastard we saw) i left him with the words. "You're not going to like Standalone, mate!" Now i've know about the 1000's of vehicles, custom load out servers etc etc but the little piece of info telling me how many players were within 1500m of me really made me shake my head. My question though is: Are there anymore bizarre little servers out there that have "special" additions?
