This problem really does need to be addressed and i am sure it is.

Starting with tools? Your thoughts..

I don't think its a 100% fair question because we start with a backpack. Think of it like asking a random girl if she has a band aid in her pocket, 99% of the time its going to be a no. Now ask a girl with a purse and those odds might change to 50/50. If we want to only include what a person would actually have on them, then that's fine with me. Start with no backpack, flashlight, etc.. Its like taking a nap on the beach and waking up and finding the world went to ****. You have nothing. Now I have many items in my house that are also in the game, and I almost never have any of them on me. I just figure if I'm packing a bag to survive, I would include stuff like this. Now maybe we are a guy who decided to go camping on the wrong weekend. We have what we need to survive in the wild, but not to survive the undead. Just trying to use my imagination because this is a sandbox and there is currently no story that I know about. It just makes sense if you have some items, you would have others. If not, then you would most likely have nothing. I agree if we have some kind of backstory. You had 2 hours to get out of Dodge scenario - what did you quickly grab? -

I think Rocket eventually wants a life cycle of sorts added to Zed behaviour. Newer Zeds or those that have recently eaten will be faster, possibly stronger, while older Zeds will be slower, weaker. Boss zombies? Dont know. I suppose stronger types of zombies would be OK ie: soldiers with armour and helmets requiring more shots to bring them down. I dont want to see the Resi Evil Nemesis though.

I like the idea of sounds making the game more tense -footsteps in a forest or in an upper level of a building. The sort of things the imagination could quite easily conjure under a high stress environment. You could even throw in shadows or movement in the corner of your eye to freak you out.

I think realistically you should start off with everyday items that you might have on your person. A watch, maybe matches, possibly a drink. Defintely not a weapon or medical supplies - perhaps a bandage if i was feeling nice. -
NPCs - Doctors, Hunters, Mechanics, Dogs, Prostitutes etc
DemonGroover replied to 7-75 callaghan's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the idea of finding NPC's in game who could do you a service ie: blood transfusion, give cooked meat etc. I am not too sure about controlling them however, but i've never played Arma properly so i dont know the ins and out of strengths and weaknesses. -
The more skins and variety the better. I should be able to dress how i want.

Variation of Crashed Helicopters: Military Tents & Other Things
DemonGroover replied to Merk1b2's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Sounds good, though why keep random spawns to just military tents? Why not the odd crashed ambulance, food trucks, train wreck, shipwrecked boat etc. -
Interesting. However the whole point of Zeds is that they are dumb and singleminded - ie perfect AI characters. As soon as you put Zeds in the hands of players they become smart and unrealistic. Could be fun though.

Grimm's "Big bad post of suggestions."
DemonGroover replied to {Foxfall} Grimm's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hmmm, i like the finite matches option as well as the ability to inspect a fireplace. -
I think the random odd Zed or two would be OK, not dozens of them, just occasionally to keep you on your toes.

Fog should defintely make things louder, but in saying that Zeds shouldnt then come screaming at you like a cruise missile cos they heard you from a mile away.
-
Actually sound waves travel much easier underwater than in air. Ever heard of whale songs being heard over many miles underwater? The same applies for foggy days, sounds would be easier to detect on foggy days, so what you are saying is absolutely wrong.
-
Geez mate, well done but go and get some sleep
-
I think the sounds are too high - do you really make a lot of noise when running/crouching? Sure you will be seen, but heard as if you are running on broken glass? I think the visibility needs to be high and the sound low. If you walk in front of a Zed he will see you, but step on a road 30m behind him, would he really hear and if he did why couldnt it have been another Zed - how do they know it is a Survivor They could investigate but not aggro all the time Staying out of their line of sight should be good enough most of the time, unless you do something stupid.
-
Perhaps there would be weapons lying nearby but i dont know about them carrying weapons - maybe a holstered pistol.
-
Dont know if they are native to Eastern Europe. Maybe scrounging dogs?

Hunting-wolfs- bears in forrest hills inland.
DemonGroover replied to peetgamer's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
More animals that move would be good - dont know how it would go performance wise. Horses, fish, bears, sabre tooth tigers, that sort if thing. -
Make Zeds investigate when audio-detected
DemonGroover replied to KrebsCast's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This does make sense. Zeds might investigate but they shouldnt zero in on you like a frigging cruise missile just because you snap a twig. -
It might even stop you getting sniped by a bandit. Would someone REALLY snipe a poor bloke trundling down the road in a wheelchair? Sadly, i believe they would.
