Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

Had an extensive run on Beta 94876, patch 1.7.2.3 and here is what i found Seems to be very easy to wander around Zeds at night and very difficult during the day - almost realistic in my book. Sticking to cover greatly assists in the Visibility bar. Even when aggroing Zeds if you quickly take them out (even with a gun) you dont necessarily aggro any other nearby Zeds After logging out of a day server i had 15 shots left out of my Stanag mag - when i logged back in on a night server i had the full 30 shots again. Nice, but a bug nethertheless. Twice now after finding an ALICE pack and a Czech Pack when i went to swap with my current backpack the backpack along with all the stuff in it vanished. I have to drop everything from my backpack to the floor, put on the new backpack and then reload the new backpack with my gear. Other than that all is awesome. Good stuff -

Beta patch and 1.7.2.3 all good from my first play. One thing though but it seems a little easy to skoot around Zeds at night - even on a relatively bright night. Just spawned and raided Cherno in a couch walk/run and came away with an AKM, revolver and loads of medical supplies and not one aggroed Zed, even though there were loads about. The Zeds seem almost blind and deaf at night - is this on purpose? I was keeping to shadows and cover so i am not saying it is totally unrealistic but just wondering. -
I tried a thread like this myself once but it doesnt work. No one listens and we will continue to get the same old "Spawning with a weapon" or "Bandits should be punished" BS.

I found myself running on the grass and then on the road in crouch mode to see what the real difference in sound is. Also my son can do a mean monkey zombie crawl.

Why not wait for a release version of Day Z and wait out the Alpha and Beta stages? If you dont want to help test the mod then dont, it really is that simple. -

Zombie Children YAY or NAY

Though it is realistic to have zombie children i just dont think its worth the hassle. It wouldnt add anything substantially and would probably create unwanted controversy. And the game would never get released in Australia! -
Not an Urban Legend as such but just an incident that can quickly send you into full on panic stricken mode, screaming like a girl, running for the hills. Last night i decided to do some night time looting. Having previously logged out close by a deerstand near Dolina i had a quick check and found an AK74 - nice. Anyhow i had never visited the Factory north of Dolina before so i decided to go scope it out in the hopes of finding some spare parts or even a toolbox. As i was trundling towards the factory under the pale moonlight i noticed that the zombie count was suddenly zero. Weird, but i just thought it meant everyone (15 or so on the server) was in the wilderness. As i neared the factory the zombie count upped to 15. Naturally assuming it was me that had spawned them I instantly slowed to a crawl and tried to scope the place out. I couldnt see any zombies so i silently moved forward towards the main gates. Still no zombies. Nothing but silence. Being ultra cautious i moved inside the complex ready to make a run for the stairs at any possible aggro. Still nothing and the zombie count remained 15. I did a quick recon of the complex exterior, but still no zombies. I made my way inside the factory building and began scouting for loot. Sure enough i found some parts and even a few AK mags. It was then as i was making my way down some stairs that i heard footsteps. Slow and steady, not the tip toe of a player. I froze and backed up. The footsteps continued, tip, tap, tip, tap. I waited, AK at the ready as the footsteps got closer. Suddenly the scream of a very close aggroed Zombie filled my ears. I jumped from my seat and nearly shat myself as I just managed to turn and run up to the second level and wait. Sure enough a Zombie procession shambled up the stairway and i proceeded to take down 10 or so zombies all in a neat little row. The place was now a screaming, moaning nightmare and i fair on just bolted for the gates and as far north as i could get. Thanks for the insta spawn zombies Rocket, you mongrel! It was time for an undies change! Nighttime servers, abandoned buildings, creepy music on, solo playing - screw that. Give me Cherno any day.

Why? Even if a guy is completely whacked out of his mind and i pump 10 shots into him, eventually he's gonna drop, These are not corpses remember they are just really highly strung humans looking for a cuddle. -

If a zombie is facing you he will eventually see you. Crouched or not, use walls, buildings whatever, stay out of sight and be quiet.

Ideas for underground bases

I can only see underground bases being implemented to be honest. As Rocket said building above ground would create hundreds of player camps per server which would ultimately slow things down. Another thing to consider is 'ghosting' where a player could merely go to where your camp is on another server and then change to the server where the camp/building is, thereby 'ghosting' in and wiping the occupants out possibly. This couldnt happen with an underground base because the camp/base only appears on the one server, unless the player makes an identical underground base on another server (possible i suppose) So in response to your thread, yes, i too like the idea of an underground base, something you can mould to be your own. -

Hatchets as a secondary weapon (pistol slot)

If you can place a hatchet on your toolbelt and use it to hack at a tree you should be able to quickly access it as a melee weapon. Your pistol is holstered, your rifle over your back, i dont see why it should take the place of your secondary. But, in saying that to me a hatchet implies a small one handed axe, not a montrous two handed fire axe. -

Military bunkers would be shit scary and highly valuable loot wise. Searching an underground complex with only a torch, chemlight or flares would be intense -
