Ahh, yes the good old dayz. 1.5.7 it was. No hackers, a few friendlies and if you found an AKM you thought you'd hit the jackpot. Not to mention the fun you could have on Side Chat. Oooooh me back, let me sit down....

There are pumpkins as well.

Met a hacker... and I pity him

To the OP. Classic opening sentence. The best yet. -
Military Spawns are Absurd
DemonGroover replied to Forceflare's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I understand where you are coming from (jizz joke out of the way) If you do play legitimately (whatever that is) it can be a real bummer making your way to the mythical NW Airfield only to find a G17 and some tin cans. I think everyone who finally makes it to the barracks expects NVG's and Rangefinders, and when they dont it is a massive let down. You'll get over it, just do what everyone else does, camp there and wait for other players to kill. -
Yeah, i often respawn at Novy, inside a house.

Standalone Camps with dogs as a defence.
DemonGroover replied to Kramartacus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This seems more believable than some of the other suggestions for security that are being bandied about. Dogs could definitely be useful as a security measure, barking when anyone gets within a certain radius (dependent on weather conditions) You should be able to come up with many varied ways of protecting your base. Spikes in pits, tripwires attached to bells or shotguns, landmines, beartraps...anything which could believably be constructed by someone with the materials on hand. NOT security cameras, robot sentries or pools with sharks wearing lasers. -
A thought to reduce the shoot on sight only problem
DemonGroover replied to Vorg's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I prefer your final suggestion, a flag which is a visual clue. Perhaps all friendlies could wear lootable, big clown hats so that everyone knows their intent. Until they put a bullet in your face. -
underground bases, hatches and key cards
DemonGroover replied to thoxon's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
How would you as a player create a Key card system? That sounds pretty high tech, but then again in game i can single handedly fix a Huey. I dont think the security systems should be high tech - if you have to hand dig a base into the ground i dont think you should be able to create Terminator sentries or laser guided missiles to protect it. I am really intrigued as to how these bases are going to be created. Shit, i think the best most people would be able to come up with would be a hole in the ground covered with a tarp, secured by tripwire between two trees that rings a bell. -
I want a cabin in the woods, a rocking chair on the porch and a shotgun in ma hand! Anyone comes near ma property gonna get a belly load o' lead.

Oh man, where to start! Berating someone for spelling when you yourself have a spelling mistake! But back on topic - i hope your plan works out. -
Banditry: The Underappreciated Service to the DayZ Community...ATM
DemonGroover replied to kayakinack's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I totally agree with the OP. Even though the majority of my time is spent as a friendly survivor (i just dont make a good bandit unfortunately) it is the tension of knowing that bandits are out there that makes Day Z what it is. Without them the game would be nothing. Sure i get angry when a 10 day old character gets sniped but in a way that is my fault. I know there are bandits out there and i just need to be more careful. -

Ha ha, Ipurgepeople. Maybe in Britain they use "you're" and "your" differently much like you Yanks like to drop vowels for no apparent reason. -
Boo Hoo! The poor little bandit is annoyed at being shot at on sight. You do understand karma right? Thats a hell of a lot of self defence kills you got there.

I uninstalled the game and feel so liberated

But you took the time to tell us all? Ahh, how sweet. You'll be back. This thread will be waiting for you. -
That tower must be destroyed!!

This game needs to be more single player friendly
DemonGroover replied to Brutal-Hunter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Maybe there could be facilities in hospitals or medic tents where you can attach a blood bag to a drip holder (or something) and give yourself the bag on your own? -
I agree. I think a zombie's sole purpose is to grab hold of you so as to eat your brains. This would pretty much mean if you are surrounded by 3 or more zombies you are screwed.
-
Yes, yes, but what are you TRYING to say? Is the Zombie Apocalypse a metaphor for our current economic crisis, or is it implying that men can no longer get it up and are in fact 'dead' in bed.

Sniping in DayZ. The built in hack & how it should change for the better/harder
DemonGroover replied to Cheboygan's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have always been amused that someone knows how to snipe, fix cars, fly Hueys, give blood, fix broken bones and run for a 100 miles without pause? Learning something should be trial and error. The first time you pick up a sniper rifle and look down the scope at someone 800m away, the sights would be moving around like crazy. I agree with nigzy23, perhaps there could be a progression whereby the number of kills you get slowly increases the aim? Spend four hours picking off zombies and perhaps the movement of the sights is steady enough to take out a fast moving player? Rocket says that he wants people who can do something in real life to be able to transfer this knowledge into the game. So how come i can fix a Huey but not drink from a damn pond? -
Ultra hardcore mode = You buy the game, you get one life.

Seriously Zombies need to be more deadly
DemonGroover replied to Bonehead3535's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I really think that when a pack of zombies catch you it should pretty much be curtains. I understand the constraints on the game but as far as Cherno and the major towns are concerned there should be at least 5 times as many zombies as there are now. Put spawns around the outskirts of towns as well, especially on sniper hills. On a side note. Every zombie film i ever saw - when the zombies catch someone they dont just make them bleed, they grab and hold, ripping guts out or chowing down on throats. Lets have a ripping an arm out of its socket mechanism. Make it cureable with duct tape or something. -
People in this game are just complete dicks.

The alarm bells should have been ringing like a Lee Enfield. -
Defintely more Eastern Bloc weapons, Landmines Suitcase Nuke

Zombies are most likely the biggest threat..
DemonGroover replied to Jesters (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Zombies are no threat unless you get badly cornered and you are low on ammo. There needs to be more of them and they need to track you mercilessly - hiding behind a tree is BS. Entering a town for supplies should be a major accomplishment, not just a dash and grab effort.
