Water bottle should be a toolbelt item
DemonGroover replied to Katanac's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
How about just being able to drink from a pond or well. I find it hard to believe you could possibly die of thirst in rainy old eastern europe - it isnt exactly the Australian outback. -
I love my CZ. You know what they say about blokes who carry AS50's Its an over compensating thing.

So you died? What's your routine after respawning?
DemonGroover replied to welch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My style has changed significantly since hackers became an issue. In the days before hacking (BH) i would bolt to a city, stock up on an ALICE, hunting gear, a Winchester and then head north to hit deer stands, Stary and the Air fields. Now i cant be bothered with putting all the time into a character that can just be killed by some knobend. Now a just hang in my pad at Cherno and wander the streets. It is much more fun as well. -
Surely firing a sniper rifle and hitting a target 1000m away should be pretty much impossible for anyone who isn't highly trained? I am no expert on sniping in real life but surely environmental factors are an issue?

How did your most recent character die?

How did your most recent character die?
DemonGroover replied to chris p. bacon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Was in the barracks when some clown barges in with a massive train of zombies behind him. I shot him in the face for being stupid (just as he was calling friendly - there are NO friendlies at the barracks) but the endless wave of zombies, particularly the ones hitting me through walls snapped my leg and i was devoured. Whoever came to the barracks next would have had a tonne of good gear. -
Kills/time in game ratio?

I bet your dayz mother is so proud of her little boy. -
Surely underground structures are a mistake.
DemonGroover replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I really hope that the underground bases players can construct are a little bit realistic. If five players can band together and then somehow create a huge underground military structure like Resi Evil's Umbrella Corp then i will be the first to cry BS. Thinking in realistic tems what could a player/s actually construct? A hole with a tarp over the top? Perhaps dig into the side of a cliff? Repopulate sewers? It could be a real mood killer if a group of players can construct an impregnabe fortress along with Terminator guards, robot dogs and ultra high tech alarm sytems. -
Looks like someone got a generator working and turned the lights back on.

Dayz reminds me of Fallout New Vegas
DemonGroover replied to Brutal-Hunter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Fallout 3 (especially heavilly modded) was my favorite game until Day Z, New Vegas a bit behind. -
Yep, hopefully some of these are incorporated. I would especially like to bludgeon someone with my AK

I think we all agree that the land of Chernarus should be littered with workable vehicles. However, how many of these vehicles would be useable to a wandering car thief? For example, for a car to be useable it would have to have the car keys available - unless Rocket implements a hot wiring system. My suggestion is to have vehicles quite common but useable ones quite rare. Vehicle parts however should be relatively easy to come by though in that you would just have to strip another vehicle. Finding random car engines, fuel tanks and tyres in buildings is a tad silly when the first place you would look is an abandoned car lying beside the road. My point: Keep the number of useable vehicles the same but increase the number of abandoned, but perfectly fine cars, trucks etc so that we can blow them up, strip them for parts or just look cool sitting in the front seat. Apologies if this has been mentioned before.

Full Character Progression - Compilation Thread

I think being able to handle and aim a weapon properly should be experience based the more you use the better you get. -
Abandoned Vehicles and Car Parts
DemonGroover replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I suppose you are right about the hot wiring already being in game. My point is that there should be a lot more vehicles which are not burnt out wrecks. And you should definitely be able to salvage parts. Maybe even move them into positions for ambushes or create barriers. -
Will Green Mountain be in the standalone?
DemonGroover replied to Darky1307's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hope they expand GM and put an underground military bunker up there, or some kind of research lab -

Looks really good. Using the controller for a backpack/picking locks is a great idea -
Funny, but for an unplayable game i seem to play a lot.

Looking for regulars on our servers
DemonGroover replied to w_epley's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What timezone are you on? Is that GMT-5? Do you have a ping limit? I live in Oz but mostly play on US servers. -
What about some local flavours? Surely Chernarus would have some local soft drink - Plop or something?

This reminds me of the old days of Side Chat, now it has just moved to the forums. What server?

Inventory UI concept design v2.1 (window based)
DemonGroover replied to joeyslucky22's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I prefer a much more natural, visual inventory as opposed to names and numbers. I realise the Borderlands inventory is an example. Being able to see every item visually is a Day Z thing. As for moving several things from backpack to person and vice versa couldnt you just implement the Ctrl key to highlight what you want to drag and drop? The more i look at the proposed inventory the more i like it. -
So what would be the backstory behind this? It seems pretty random to me.
