My idea of a "MacGyver" crafting system in the DayZ standalone.
DemonGroover replied to Lodeus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
But MacGyver could make a nuke out of a pepsi can and a paper clip - where would it end? -
Has DayZ died down quite abit?
DemonGroover replied to james222's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think either people are trying other maps or waiting for the standalone. -
How did it all start? (The Dayz Infection)
DemonGroover replied to Epidemic survivor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is a classic cover. Underneath will be a labyrinth of research and military facilities. Notice the military zombies that spawn - why would they be found at a 'mere' radio tower for Polka FM? The truth is out there. -
Favorite DayZ map and why?

I like Lingor but i still think Chernarus is the best -
Semin kidnapped..bzzzzzzzzzzzz
DemonGroover replied to Hetstaine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sounds a lot more fun than scurrying around treelines and living far to the north for 40 days. I have been playing in the same fashion as you for a while now. More deaths but more adventures. I play on US servers from time to time. If you enter my Cherno apartment i promise not to shoot. -
Health should be increased
DemonGroover replied to Brutal-Hunter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We are going for an authentic experience here, or at least trying to. Increasing the blood levels so you can take 20 makarov bullets is total BS. In an environment like DayZ being shot with even one bullet would probably be a death sentence without proper medical attention. At present I think the bullet damage is probably a little bit too low - but isnt too bad. I would prefer different shot boxes for different parts of the body. Head shots and heart shots should be pretty much instant death, while shots to the legs and arms could cause less damage but more bleeding and maiming. Imagine shooting a sniper in both arms and letting him live, but unable to fire a weapon properly. -
Great stuff. You made it out alive....for now!

possibility of seeing WHO killed you
DemonGroover replied to mckenziebrother's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I personally dont like the idea but imagine if there were a mechanic where you could rewind and follow the bullet that struck your head back to its source. There would then be a close up of the bastard who shot you, he would give a thumbs up and he would be given the opportunity to type a one liner. For example he snipes you on the beach he could say "Surf's up pal!" -
The same could be said for NW Airfield. Many a time i have been there i have found nothing but M1014's and the odd AK. The myth is that if you finally make it into the barracks then all the NVG's, rangefinders and MK 48's will be yours.

Long doesnt matter, post it here or give us a link when you have written it up

takin a shit in the standalone
DemonGroover replied to Eazy-Makaveli's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In times of catastrophe dysentery becomes a big issue, so we would probably all have explosive diarrhea. -
I think you should start with nothing but a watch, but i agree in that you could start with nothing at the moment because it doesnt matter - finding gear is a bit too easy. Bandages in my opinion are too common, but then again so is bleeding to death. How exactly does getting hit by a zombie cause you to bleed so often? Resources should definitely be more scarce. Finding a stash of food, medical supplies or a wepaon should be cause for joy. At the moment all it produces is a shrug of the shoulders as you bypass another wad of bandages, double barrel shotguns and beans as you look for military gear and morphine.

The Hive - We Want Support, Not Permission
DemonGroover replied to guidez's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
One con of a private server (and i understand to an extent since someone is paying the cash) Nazi admins who abuse their power and think they have divine rights to say what goes down. I have had experience where an admin has teleported everyone and killed them all because no body would own up to a PvP murder - side chat was enabled. How is this not hacking? This is what i fear some private servers will become - playthings of the person paying the bills, with the idea in their head that what they say goes. People getting kicked on hearsay of the admins friends "He killed me...he stole my ATV..." I do see the pros as well and i have been on many a private server where all seemed fair. But one thing i have noticed - admins always seem to have the best gear. Another con i just thought of - the idea i could have 53 different characters on 53 different hives. This surely is not what DayZ is about. -
Favorite survival method and why?
DemonGroover replied to DANNY (ZOMBES THE HERO)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What, there's a zombie apocalypse? I was just hanging in my Cherno apartment when my TV went off. I just thought it was those lazy Chernarussian Power suppliers not bothering to turn the power back on....mind you that was 5 months ago. Guess i'll have to head outside Cherno and have a look...i wondered why Ivan the supermarket store owner had left his store in such a mess. And those car backfiring noises i hear all the time..they are gunshots? To be honest i didnt even realise my neighbours had turned into zombies...they were a load of boring old farts anyway, always aimlessly wandering the streets. Now i have an excuse to blow their brains out. See you in Cherno. -
Mr. Chill's list of random suggestions... sorry for any reposts

I like the megaphone idea from a helicopter. A lot of fun could be had with that. -
I would have killed him just for calling me Dude.

Any news yet - am still waiting to see those Gamespot fools get sniped in one of their videos.

To all noobs. Look on the beach for a tent. Treasures await inside.

high-end loot should not exist in DayZ
DemonGroover replied to nic0's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So true, so true. Once you have good gear, the enjoyment evaporates and you become super paranoid about losing your stuff. Respawning however is a real release and lets you play without real fear because it doesnt really matter if you die. I am at the point now with another character where i am starting to look over my shoulder even on low pop servers. I am seriously considering running down to the beach and giving all my gear to the first newbie i come across. I may even pitch a tent at the shore and put all my gear (minus startup stuff and possibly my hatchet) in it. Let newbies have the paranoia. Me - i'll just nosy around Cherno without a care. -
If your camp was raided, what would you do?
DemonGroover replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would wait for dogs to be implemented. Then hunt them down, shoot their dog and kill them. You could then wait for families to be implemented so you can shoot them too! Hunting and shooting is good. -
Mmmmmm.......bacon!
-
I know that i would never put valuable stuff in a tent. I would be much more inclined to hide it in a building or bury it somewhere, even under a pile of rocks if need be.

Just get rid of Night vision and thermal in my opinion. I have an L85 but it really does make the game easy. Dammit, its just too hard not to use it!!!

Snipers are everywhere and NO WHERE
DemonGroover replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am assuming you play alone. Unfortunately being stealthy doesnt help because zombies spawn as you approach and snipers know this. All they have to do is wait for zombies to spawn and then they will inevitably find you. Your best bet is to keep moving and only stop when you are completely covered and not in view of possible sniper spots. Dart from cover to cover, dont bother sneak running. You will probably capture a zombie train but they are so pathetic that you can easily lose them. Its a pain, but the threat of bandits is what makes Day Z so compelling. I just wish the sniper aiming wasnt so piss easy at 500m -
Players should be able to ring the church bells and this should definitely attract zombies. On a side note i also want to be able to close doors on barns trapping zombies and being able to set the barn on fire.
