DayZ Random Acts Of Kindness
DemonGroover replied to chernojourno's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When i am done with a vehicle or get bored with a weapon i head along the coast until i see a newbie and just give it to them. Have done this a few times now and the players are always incredulous, especially if you hand over keys to a car. All i really need is my axe - the rest is easy come, easy go. -
Sniper Rifles and Sniper Role Changes.
DemonGroover replied to Taiphoz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Perhaps they are to an extent but i still think it is too easy for someone to snipe accurately. I am pretty sure wind doesnt have an effect because i dont actually think wind is in Arma 2 (apart from telling you what direction east is). For me the sights need to move around a lot more. Give players a chance to steady the sights but this should take time. Racking off shot after shot from 1/2 mile away at a moving target is probably something only some of the top marksmen in the world could accomplish. -
Sniper Rifles and Sniper Role Changes.
DemonGroover replied to Taiphoz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd prefer snipers to have a harder time rather than easier. Sure boost the damage but sniping really needs to be difficult. Being able to shoot someone from 800m is total BS. Boost the damage, make the sights move all over the place, make wind a factor as well as bullet drop and make the recoil NOT come back to centre. Hit me from 800m in those conditions and you can have my bean supply. -
Still havent heard any Urban Legends about the other maps yet. I thought i saw a crocodile in Lingor once, it definitely looked like something swimming in the water. And it was not a player. Unfortunately i had just spawned so i couldnt shoot it.

Ghillie suit and Camo for woman please
DemonGroover replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I thought you wanted to trade a Ghille suit and Camo gear for a woman?? I guess i'll have to deflate her and put her back in the box then. -
The point of this thread is what? The vain hope that this hacker logs on and reads this? We really need a sub forum for Hacker Whining that can be shredded daily, turned to manure and spread on the Garden of Who Gives a Fuck.

I'd imagine in a post soviet country like Chernarus the army could possibly act as the police, but i see your point, and considering there are police models as zombies an odd police station or two would be a cool addition. In general i think Chernarus needs more variety in its buildings. I would love to explore inside a huge police station, hotel, hospital, office block, military bunker etc. I'd hope we dont just get more enterable buildings with nothing inside them, however. The Lingor island hotels, though massive and explorable were let down by the simple fact that there is no furniture, beds, bars etc inside, just the odd pile of loot on the floor. Hopefully the standalone fleshes these out and we get a lot more to explore. Aesthetics are important as they add mood and can provide little stories in themselves. That was what i liked about Fallout 3 and New Vegas - finding dead bodies, notes etc in abandoned buildings fleshed out the backstory. Little things can make a big difference.

Highway Area - Providing car parts and variety.
DemonGroover replied to Riem's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yep, i agree, having a stretch of road littered with cars would be cool. A couple of these cars could be driveable and i also agree that salvaging car parts from other cars makes more sense than finding an engine block in a random shed. I'd even like to see a crashed train with carriages to explore. -
I loved that show. Not sure how many years after the virus DayZ is supposed to be, so i am not sure if too much of it is relevant, unfortunately. I liked the escaped zoo animals aspect though.

How to make the zombies more of a threat, by only changing a few small things.
DemonGroover replied to Hello moto's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Allow zombies to run indoors and make their screeching and screaming attract nearby zombies. Matches should not be a rare item. Animals should be a finite resource spawning once and not respawning. -
SurvivorGameZ. Winners: Puddn & b00a
DemonGroover replied to magicool's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Have you guys considered other gameplay options, like an idea below? http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/94147-an-actual-dayz-revisited/ -
With the recent interest in the Hunger Games and now Survival Gamez style of Dayz gameplay i thought i would revisit an idea i had many moons ago (June i think) - an Actual DayZ First of all we have to imagine a few things (some of which may be hard to implement): 1) The magical loot fairy has been strangled to death by a zombie - once loot spawns that's it no more will respawn 2) 50 players spawn on the coast as per normal, but simultaneously, randomly and with nothing but starting gear plus some matches (the rarity of matches isnt realistic in my opinion) 3) Anyone who dies is dead and is kicked from the game. No one else can login into a game once it has begun. Slowly but surely the population of Survivors will drop. 4) Games will be run on Expert settings ie: first person only, no nameplates, no crosshairs, no death messages What i would hope is this will simulate an actual day of DayZ. Ammo, food, weapons etc do not miraculously respawn, everyone starts at the same moment with the same gear and same opportunity. Be a bandit if you like but sniping weapons may be hard to find and the ammo will eventually run out I just think it would create an interesting situation and many varied scenarios could be played out: - Everyone would run around grabbing what weapons they can, killing everyone else - Last Man Standing Scenario - People meet, band together, form groups and try and survive - Last Group Standing Scenario - Everyone runs to the hills and is never seen again - Lone Wolf Scenario - The whole server gets together and creates Utopia - Not Very Bloody Likely Scenario Like i said, i dont expect a game like this to be something that could be repeated indefinitely but a few iterations of it could yield some interesting (or downright boring) gameplay. There would come a time when the game would end, be it last man alive, last group alive or a mass stalemate where everyone is in the woods and hiding. Who knows? TD;DR - all loot spawns once only, players start at same time, you die you are out, no one can join once game begins. Ideas? Thoughts?

An Actual DayZ - Revisited
DemonGroover replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
3rd person gives you the ability to see things that you wouldnt be able to in 1st person ie: over walls and around corners. Some consider it an unfair advantage and unrealistic. The true hardcore (not me all the time though) will only play 1st person. -
How about a map with snow weather

Scotland would be an awesome setting. I lived there for a while and Edinburgh would be perfect. -
An Actual DayZ - Revisited
DemonGroover replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's right. I dont think there would be much longevity in it but it would be interesting to see how different populations of people react. I would be particularly interested to see how bandits would change their tactics. You might see players getting robbed of their goods rather than being shot or you may just see a whole bunch of axe weilding maniacs running around. I would expect to see a lot more coop as players realise they probably wouldnt survive long on their own. It would be intriguing. I would love to play a game or three in this manner. -
An Actual DayZ - Revisited
DemonGroover replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the point would be to see what happens when there are finite resources. At the moment players can sit atop a mountain and snipe forever since the magical loot fairy reappears all the time. If ammo never respawns then every shot will have to count. Some players would take to the hills, but you could also limit the spawning of animals as well - then they would have to venture into towns at some stage. -

Private servers in standalone (no hackers/no antisocial)
DemonGroover replied to UltimateKeks's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I played on a small private server the other night and i still got flung into the air and killed by some douche. -
takin a shit in the standalone
DemonGroover replied to Eazy-Makaveli's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Now if shit were introduced then lets hope there is a bit of variety - i wouldnt want the same old model all the time. And what about the animation - surely motion capture is the best way forward. -
How about: Anyone in Cherno? For all those of us who miss the Side Channel.

NEW DayZ Fallujah Map Released!
DemonGroover replied to avid_gamer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Just had a quick run through before getting kicked for too high ping - bastards! Very vast urban area, not too much variety in buildings and few loot spawns - this may be because i was one of only 3 people on the server. Zombies are the Chernarus models and look a bit out of place but since it has just come out who cares? Has massive PvP written all over it. I shall await for more servers and have another go soon. -
Its been done - Fallujah Dayz
