I think that if you intentionally log out of the game for whatever reason there should be a timer that prevents you logging in again for 30mins. I dont know if this would have helped you guys out though because you probably would still have gotten wiped out, but for Alt-F4ers who want to ghost about it would be a major inconvenience. If you are killed or the network drops then this wouldnt apply. Not sure how this is applied as i am not a programmer.

Oh man that Fallujah map. I had a heli after about 10 minutes as i spawned close to the airbase. Loads of barracks too - so geared up instantly. Added to it all was there were 2 unlooted Heli crashes, one near the runway, one just outside the fence. Insane! My point? There is no spoon.

In answer to your original question - yes you are an asshole. In answer to what i do when a gear up - i dont gear up anymore, at least not to the extent i used to. Now, i like to wander the coast with my axe and get into adventures - a bit like that old TV show Kung Fu where he walked the earth and beat up anyone doing wrong. -

It is a tough one to solve without enabling the side chat again. As has been pointed out there are a lot of servers out there with it enabled again, especially the new maps that have come out. It is probably a bit extreme but since we have peripheral dots for vision outside the screen i agree that there should there be an option for sound dots. The sounds would have to be true sounds heard, not ambient sounds. Dont know how much of a help this would be though if someone is telling you to speak or i will shoot. -

My wife's only comment came after i was sniped by some knob-end..again and i began cursing loudly at the monitor. "Remind me not to hang around you when the apocalypse starts, you just get killed all the time." What could i say? She's in the basement now. -
I do like the idea of being able to clear an area. Once an area is clear, zombies could respawn not inside the "safe" zone but just outside it, surrounding the walls or whatever. However i think we need a shitload more zombies for this to work, otherwise clearing an area would be too easy. They could also eventually break through by sheer weight of numbers. You also have the problem of ghosting where enemy players could disrupt this safe zone by spawning in behind you from another server.

Change the name of the mod to DayZ Mod and call the standalone DayZ. I really dont think they will change the name - DayZ is a brand now, it would be like McDonalds changing their name to McDougals. Or during those long days of crawling and running: Day Zzzzzz

Trust is a big issue, which is why i only approach new spawns with no weapons. Itchy trigger fingers are problems i'd rather not deal with. I just exit the car, tell them it's theirs and back off into the woods. I did have a funny moment a few nights ago when i picked up a noob running along the Cherno-Elektro road being chased by a dozen zombies. He jumped in the car and screamed into my headset - he'd never seen a Ghillie suit before and didnt know what the fuck i was! He enjoyed the ride and loved it when i gave him the car after we were safely away. Ahhh, warms my heart! -

Exploring a huge underground bunker would be fun. Patient Zero could be housed down there somewhere. -
I'd rather have an AI survivor follow me around than a dog tbh. I'd love to break into a retirement home and save an old WW2 veteran, give him a gun and say the Nazis have invaded again. Be a lot more fun than watching a dog chase a pig.

Nazi zombies. Two words that will never get old for me. It would be cool if the GM mythology were taken up and expanded. I am convinced there is a huge military/research base under the mountain.
