No offence taken. To be honest there are lots of little things you could add to DayZ which arent really necessary, can openers included. For instance how do we get all these vehicles to work? Do we hotwire them? Why cant we jump? Why on earth does morphine fix broken bones - it should be for pain relief not curing? I like the Molotov idea - i would love to light up a group of zombies and it would put to use a useless item such as the empty whisky bottles we find everywhere. I agree that there are bigger issues to fix, modify and i think this @Alderon mod could do just that. I suppose we all want the same thing, a fully immersive, authentic experience and the more things that add to this the better. I dunno, i just love the idea of someone starving, finding a can of beans and then not being able to open the tin. :D -

I think this idea that the numbers playing DayZ is dropping needs to be addressed. Are people basing this idea on the front page of this website that states 60,000 in the last 24 hours? If so then i think people need to realise that these numbers reflect the DayZ Chernarus map (original). I havent played on the original map for a couple of months now. I spend the majority of my time on private servers and other maps. Subsequently i am not one of the 60,000 people that have played in the last 24 hours. Playing numbers may have dropped but not to the extent that people keep banging on about. Are we really meant to believe that of the 1.3 million registered players only 60,000 are playing anymore? Bollocks, as my old grandad would have said.

I think little things that add a little authenticity to the experience are vital. Drinking directly from a pond or lake, picking apples and pumpkins included. OK, so a can opener may not seem a big deal but have you ever really tried to open a can without one? Not all cans have pull tabs. Grab an axe, place a tin of beans on the ground and give it a whack - tell me what happens? Tin openers, like boxes of matches would definitely be one of the first things someone should grab. Have you seen Mad Max 2 - he has a can opener on his tool belt. Vital! To be honest i would also like it only be possible to fix vehicles if you had a toolbox. Please explain how you could change a tyre, fix an engine and install a rotor blade without one? -

Only possible on a private server - otherwise softcock bandits will just ghost in behind you. As for sostronk - i'm yet to meet a bandit that doesnt Alt-F4 if he doesnt kill you with his first couple of rounds and you happen to fire back at them (Ok, i exaggerate there have been a few) -

I wondered who the hell Shane Walsh was at first - thought he might have been an ice hockey player or something. The thing i dont get - if you planned on taking him out surely you could have gotten a nice clean headshot without getting yourself killed? Or at least peppered the hell out of him before he could respond. Sounds like you gave him a chance and he killed you. -
I agree that skins should become available but not enforced on players. If a bandit wants to walk around in a Hero outfit then why not - its great camouflage. If there are different skins or outfits available some of them (like the current bandit skin) will become known to be only worn by bandits. Who else would wear it? But if a bandit wants to look just like everyone else then fairs fair. The moral - dont judge a book by its cover. Just shoot everyone.

Something like this needs to be implemented for the hearing impaired. Unless people think that because they are deaf in real life they should be deaf in game as well.

In my opinion - and it is only an opinion. All top tier weaponry and equipment should go. However i only say this because every man and his dog is walking around with NVG's L85's and AS50's due to the rampant duping and hacking. Fix duping and hacking, add weapon durability, battery life etc and these very rare items are fine in game. Roll on standalone.

Yeah, i think Rocket has probably "Released the Hounds" by just letting the community get on with it in regards to the mod while he gets on with the standalone. We are seeing a lot of new content by some top programmers like those working on SurviveDayZ, DayZ Redux etc, as well as loads of new maps. Happy DayZ -

How about making zombies run (or at least move faster than they do now) indoors? I also think you should have to find a can opener before you can eat any tinned food. :) -
Is that Green Mountain Tower's evil or good twin on the Fallujah map? Has anyone checked it out yet - i have seen it in the distance but haven't made the journey as of yet.
